NOTE: If this should occur, the Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit is in Diagnostic Mode and needs to be returned to User Mode. Figure 1 ACTION 1. Use CONSULT-III plus to check for Air Bag DTCs and perform repairs as needed. 2. Return the Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit to User Mode. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/3 SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Use C-III plus to check for Air Bag DTCs and perform repairs as needed. NOTE: If there are any Air Bag DTCs, necessary repairs must be completed and DTCs cleared before continuing. 2. Return the Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit to User Mode as follows: NOTE: Do not use the air bag warning light as a timer for the following steps. a. Obtain a timer that will accurately measure seconds (stop watch, stop watch app, etc.). b. At the same time, turn the ignition ON and start the timer. c. At 7 seconds, turn the ignition OFF. NOTE: You must turn the ignition OFF within 1 second (turn ignition OFF after 7 seconds and before 8 seconds has elapsed). If 8 seconds elapse before turning OFF the ignition, you must start over from the beginning. If you are on the 2nd or 3rd repeat, starting over means repeating all 3 times again. d. Wait 2-3 seconds. e. Repeat steps b, c, and d – 2 more times (total of 3 times). NOTE: You must turn the ignition ON again for the 2nd and 3rd repeat within 4 seconds (before 4 seconds has elapsed). If 4 seconds elapse before turning the ignition ON for the 2nd or 3rd repeat, you must start over from the beginning, repeating all 3 times again. f. Turn the ignition ON and observe the air bag warning light. g. The air bag waning light should be ON for about 7 seconds and then go OFF, and stay OFF. 2/3 NTB18-080 CLAIMS INFORMATION Submit a Primary Part (PP) type line claim using the following claims coding: DESCRIPTION PFP OP CODE SYM DIA FRT Reset Air Bag Mode (1) RX6TAA ZE 32 0.2 (1) Reference the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) and use the Sensor-Side Air Bag, Center as the Primary Failed Part (PFP). NOTE: For repairs related to DTCs that may have been stored, refer to the current Nissan Warranty Flat Rate Manual and use the appropriate claims coding.
