SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Use C-III plus to check for Air Bag DTCs and perform repairs as needed.
NOTE: If there are any Air Bag DTCs, necessary repairs must be completed and DTCs
cleared before continuing.
2. Return the Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit to User Mode as follows:
NOTE: Do not use the air bag warning light as a timer for the following steps.
a. Obtain a timer that will accurately measure seconds (stop watch, stop watch app,
etc.).
b. At the same time, turn the ignition ON and start the timer.
c. At 7 seconds, turn the ignition OFF.
NOTE:

You must turn the ignition OFF within 1 second (turn ignition OFF after 7
seconds and before 8 seconds has elapsed). If 8 seconds elapse before
turning OFF the ignition, you must start over from the beginning.

If you are on the 2nd or 3rd repeat, starting over means repeating all 3 times
again.
d. Wait 2-3 seconds.
e. Repeat steps b, c, and d – 2 more times (total of 3 times).
NOTE: You must turn the ignition ON again for the 2nd and 3rd repeat within 4
seconds (before 4 seconds has elapsed). If 4 seconds elapse before turning the
ignition ON for the 2nd or 3rd repeat, you must start over from the beginning,
repeating all 3 times again.
f. Turn the ignition ON and observe the air bag warning light.
g. The air bag waning light should be ON for about 7 seconds and then go OFF, and
stay OFF.
