• Recall 155178 [USA]: Corrosion to the secondary latch may cause it to bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed. if the primary latch is inadvertently released again and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2018 nissan altima vehicles. If the primary hood latch is inadvertently released, there is an increased likelihood that the secondary hood latch may corrode over time.
  nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a stronger release spring in the hood release lever, a warning label near the secondary hood latch, and an owner?S manual addendum card with instructions on how to lubricate and maintain the secondary hood latch mechanism, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed june 30, 2021. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: recall 16v-029 remains open for any unremedied 2013-2015 altimas and this recall applies to all vehicles covered by 16v-029 even if those repairs have already been performed.

• Recall 132592 [USA]: If the rear passenger door opens while the vehicle is moving, the rear passengers have an increased risk of injury.
  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2017 altima vehicles, previously remedied under recall number 17v-040. The door latch-lock cable may not have been routed properly in the rear door when the remedy was applied. As a result, the cable may interfere with the window regulator causing the rear passenger door to unlatch and inadvertently open without warning when the window is lowered.

  Issue: over time, corrosion could cause the secondary hood latch to stick in the open position after it is used. If this happens, and the primary hood latch is released, the hood may open suddenly while driving. Safety risk: a hood that opens suddenly while driving could block the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: nissan will notify owners by mail and provide an update to the owner's manual instruction for how to properly maintain the hood latch. Nissan will instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the hood release lever spring. The dealer will also install a hood latch maintenance warning label.

• Recall 2018732 [Canada]: Structure
  On certain vehicles, the latch-lock cable may have been incorrectly routed in the path of the rear door window regulator. This could cause the rear passenger door to unlatch and open when the window is lowered, increasing the risk of injury to the rear passengers while the vehicle is in motion. Correction: dealers will inspect, and will add a wire harness clip to the door panel to reroute the cables through, and/or replace the rear door latch-lock cable assembly as necessary. Note: this recall supersedes recall 2017-030. Vehicles repaired as part of the previous recall will require re-inspection and repair.

• Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation # EA21002

  From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field. Lists of recall actions that may have used desiccated psan inflators as remedy parts, as well as the makes and models originally manufactured with them, is available with the downloadable version of this document (see nhtsa.Gov/recalls?Nhtsaid=ea21002 -- note this information is subject to change/revision as the investigation proceeds). • Rear suspension control arm failure investigation # EA19002

  In response to the office of defects investigations (odis) information request (ir) letter dated december 6, 2018, nissan provide an interim response on january 18, 2019, and a final response on february 1, 2019. The majority of the nissan and odi failure reports are from vehicles registered in so called "salt belt" states. No crashes, injuries or fatalities have been confirmed as of this date.Nissans ir response indicated the my 2013 through early 2018 nissan altima shared a common rear lower control arm design. Accordingly odi has expanded the scope of the investigation to include all potentially affected vehicles. Nissan reported implementing a design change in january 2018 to improve the durability of the lower control arm, and also provided an analysis indicating that the design change resulted in a significant (which nissan estimated between 5 to 9 times) improvement to its durability.Nissan acknowledges that a crack may develop in the lower control arm due to stress and loading from normal use of the vehicle, and that road salts commonly used for snow and ice treatment results in corrosion that exacerbates growth and progression of the crack. Once the crack develops, continued use of the vehicle causes the control arm to separate at one of four attachment points that connect it to the vehicle chassis. Nissan determined the current incident rate was 0.003%. Based on testing it conducted as well as observations from field failures, nissan maintains the separation, whether it occurs either statically or while in motion, is readily detectable, that the separated component does not contact the road surface or braking components, and that the vehicle remains controllable and can be safely brought to a stop. Nissan states that due to low incident rate, high detectability, and low risk of adverse vehicle dynamics, it does not believe the subject control arm failure poses an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.Nonetheless, nissan has indicated its intentions to conduct a non-safety, proactive field action for my 2013 altima in specific states with high salt usage. Launch of the potential action would be in phases, likely beginning in late 2019 in salt belt states with higher incident rates, and would involve replacement of the lower control arms. Components recovered from the field action are expected to be used to study additional remedy options.During the engineering analysis, odi will continue to collect and analyze complaint and field data in its efforts to fully assess the scope and frequency of the alleged defect. The contact owns a 2017 nissan altima. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine maintenance, it was discovered that the hood could not be opened. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who confirmed that the vehicle was included in the nhtsa recall campaign number 20v315000 (latches/locks/linkages) however, no repairs were performed. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Speakers randomly stop working during a drive. No longer will come. Back on. As well as the door button to unlock the vehicle on the door handle on the driver side doesn't work at all and constant stereo issues. Stereo doesn't always provide connected devices current song playing.

My 2017 altima sr is again experiencing a delay when accelerating from a stop. It revs up to about 3500-4000 rpm’s for a couple of seconds no matter how far down the pedal is. Only gets up to about 20 mph though. Then it will finally go. There is no check engine light and no codes. If i turn the car off, it's like it resets and has more power afterwards. This happened 14 months ago as well. I had to service the transmission and it was ok after that. Not even 18,000 miles later and it is doing it again.

Had to replace rear brake pads at 21,100 miles…very odd to have to replace at such a low mileage. Also, the major issue i’m having is with water leaking into my car…the dealership first said they thought it was due to clogged sunroof drains….They were wrong…took it back after issue still happening, and now they are saying that the sunroof drains are deformed…the water is coming in from under the dash onto the passenger side of the floor and going to the back. Also, leaking from the top edge onto the passenger seat. There also is some water on the driver seat, and the driver’s seatbelt feels damp. Under both the passenger & driver’s seat there is rust….This car was brand new when i got it. The car has heated/power seats. I’m concerned that this water damage may cause other issues down the road..Including safety issues. Rust and mold are not good. There also is a bad odor.

Car was parked luckily but when door was shut the sunroof exploded like a volcano

While driving, my car seems to lock up, for instance, i was driving down the highway, doing 70 mph, and my car suddenly locked up, slowing me down to 55 mph within seconds, before it finally unlocked. Also, while i was breaking, the car accelerated, almost shooting me through a stop sign.

Car purchased 5/21/2021 experienced delayed acceleration twice after stopping, after approximately 2-4 seconds vehicle picked up momentum..Approximately 7days later engine light came on. 6/5/21 tool vehicle to auto zone for diagnostic check received code P0776. Then took it took certified mechanic 6/7/2021 received same code report stating that belt is worn in the transmission and will eventually fail.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,700.

1).Sometimes i can smell exhaust gas inside the car room like in my previous car nissan maxima se 2008, which is extremely dangerous. 2).The rear camera works no so well - sometimes rearview disappearing completely.
