  • Recall 2019065 [Canada]: Powertrain
Issue: on some trucks, a sensor problem may cause the transmission to suddenly downshift to first gear. This could cause the rear wheels to suddenly slow and potentially create a loss of stability. Safety risk: a loss of vehicle stability could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the powertrain control module reprogrammed.

  • Recall 2017246 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain vehicles equipped with 3.5l v6 gtdi ecoboost engines, the electric vacuum pump (evp) may fail due to moisture entry through the engine vacuum harness. Failure of the evp may result in reduced brake assist immediately after first start up, and depending on the driver’s reaction, may result in extended stopping distance which may increase the potential for a low-speed collision causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the evp and vacuum harness.

  • Recall 2016183 [Canada]: Powertrain
Certain vehicles equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission may experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output-shaft speed sensor (oss) signal to the power control module. This could potentially cause an unintended downshift into first gear, which depending on vehicle speed at the time of the downshift, may cause the rear tires to slide or lock up until the vehicle slows. This may result in a loss of vehicle control without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module with updated software.

  • Recall 2012149 [Canada]: Powertrain
Certain vehicles may have been equipped with an incorrectly manufactured transmission range sensor. In some instances, when the shift lever is placed in the "r" position, signal may not be provided to the electronic transmission range indicator "prndl" for "r" illumination and/or for backup lamp activation. Should the backup lamps fail to illuminate, the driver's intentions to reverse may not be conveyed clearly to other motorists and/or pedestrians, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmission range sensor.

  • Recall 2011426 [Canada]: Powertrain
Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard 102 - transmission control functions. The brake transmission shift interlock (btsi) switch may have been incorrectly manufactured and could fail. This would allow the transmission gear shift lever to be moved out of the park position without depressing the brake pedal. Depending which gear the driver selects, the vehicle could begin to move forward or backward immediately. This movement could result in property damage, or cause the vehicle to strike a bystander, potentially resulting in personal injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the btsi switch.

  • Recall 2010463 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles, the body control module (bcm) may develop an internal short. If an electrical short occurs, an overheating condition may result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the body control module.

Known Recall Investigations
  • Unexpected transmission downshift investigation as of 20171225

The office of defects investigation (odi) opened an investigation based on consumer allegations of transmissions unexpectedly downshifting to a lower gear without input from the driver on model year (my) 2011-2013 ford f-150, expedition and navigator vehicles. Odi has received 455 unique reports related to the alleged problem that were not covered under a previous recall for this issue (16v-248).Expedition and navigator complaint rates are lower than f-150 complaints. Of those 455 reports, 34.7% claimed that the rear wheels locked up when the transmission downshifted. There were 4 accident claims with no injuries. There are many instances where drivers report leaving their lane or the road because of this issue. In response to odis information request (ir) letter, ford motor company (ford) responded with 783 unique reports related to the alleged problem. There were 6 accident claims with 3 injuries. Ford also submitted 1206 warranty claims related to transmission downshifting failures. The failure can occur at any time, but typically at higher speed, and include symptoms such as sudden transmission downshifting, loss of speedometer, erratic shifting of transmission, and transmission stuck in one gear. The failures typically occur without warning and may result in the rear wheels momentarily locking up. The driver often had to fully stop the vehicle and restart it to get the vehicle to shift properly. On february 2nd, 2019 ford notified odi that it would conduct a safety recall (19v-075) to remedy transmission downshifting failures on all 2011-2013 f-150 vehicles. Ford will also offer extended warranties to 2011-2013 expedition and navigator vehicles with the same issue. Per ford, some vehicles may experience an intermittent loss of transmission output speed sensor (oss) signal to the powertrain control module (pcm), potentially resulting in a temporary unintended downshift into first gear. Ford will reprogram the pcm with software that will prevent an unintended downshift into first gear and illuminate the malfunction indicator light in the event of an intermittent oss signal loss. The recall action initiated by the manufacturer appears to address the safety risks of concern to odi.Accordingly, the investigation is closed. The odi reports cited above can be reviewed at www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the identification (odi) numbers found in the attached list.

  • Brake vacuum pump failure investigation as of 20151016

On february 15, 2016, ford motor company initiated customer satisfaction program 15n05 to extend warranty coverage for the electric vacuum pump in certain model year (my) 2011 through 2012 ford f-150 pickup trucks equipped with 3.5l gtdi engines. The program extends coverage for up to 10 years of service or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle, all vehicles are eligible for the program through july 30, 2016 regardless of mileage.Fords program covers all repairs related to electric vacuum pump (evp) malfunctions including excessive noise, vibration, or change in brake pedal feel while applying the brakes at cold start. Ford states that the engine intake manifold is the primary source of vacuum for the brake booster and is fully compliant to motor vehicle safety standards without the supplemental vacuum supplied by the evp.The company also contends that failure modes related to the evp are progressive and provide warning to operators by way of noise and vibration before an operator to experience any temporary change in brake pedal feel.Odis analysis of warranty data found that the majority of claims involved consumer concerns with evp noise or vibration from the left front fender area when the vehicle is first started. Continued operation in this mode with pump motor noise will eventually result in the evp seizing or becoming non-functional.Component failure analysis indicated that ford and its supplier, continental, identified a pump crank drive corrosion condition due to moisture entry through the vacuum intake.Corrosion damage to evp internal components may eventually result in a blown fuse in the power distribution box and total loss of evp function.Analysis of consumer complaints, field reports, and warranty data related to evp failures found thatincidents predominantly occurred in driveways and parking lots in the periods immediately after cold engine starts. Many consumers operated their vehicle for some period of time with a blown evp fuse without realizing that the pump had failed or that the vehicle had a brake system malfunction.Consumers who did experience braking performance issues reporteda temporary hard brake pedal condition at start-up followed by more consistent normal pedal feel after few seconds. On june 22, 2015, ford developed a remedy procedure and issued tsb 15-0105 instructing dealers to replace the vacuum pump and install a new vacuum pump harness kit. In addition to reviewing test data submitted by ford, odi assessed safety risks associated with the alleged defect under various operating conditions, including: 1) baseline system performance with full engine and evp vacuum available using exemplar parts, 2) disabled evp and booster vacuum regulated to simulate worst case conditions for engine intake manifold vacuum supply to the brake booster (approximately 300 mbar); and 3) all source vacuum to the brake booster removed and optimized hydraulic braking (ohb) mode active to represent complete loss of brake booster function (note: this condition is a more severe brake boost system failure mode than the alleged defect).Odi also analyzed all complaints and warranty claims to identify incidents alleging brake system performance concerns related to evp failures. These analyses identified no brake performance issues or resulting changes in stopping distances either on highway or city traffic conditions. Two complaints alleging evp malfunctions caused or contributed to rear-end collisions during attempted decelerations from road speeds are not believed to be related to the alleged defect. The evp provides supplemental vacuum during initial start-up and idle with a cold engine. Both incidents (continued on attachment a)

  • Reduced power during hard acceleration investigation as of 20130522

On may 22, 2013, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened pe13-018 to investigate 95 complaints alleging incidents of reduced engine power during hard accelerations in model year (my) 2011 through 2013 ford f-150 trucks.Odi was aware of three technical service bulletins (tsbs) issued by ford for a condition that was related to moisture accumulation in the charge air cooler (cac) for the turbochargers.A preliminary evaluation was opened to gather information to assess whether the subject vehicles contain a safety related defect. The subject vehicles are powered by ford’s 3.5l ecoboost engine which uses twin turbochargers to obtain a balance of fuel economy and engine power based on the driver’s demand. When the driver requests more power from the engine, as in accelerating to pass, merge, ascend hills or haul a load the two turbochargers will spin up compressing the air which is then used to increase the power created by the combustion in the engine. The compressed air, which gains heat by the compression process, is passed through a charge air cooler (cac) which is designed to lower the temperature of the air in order to make the combustion process even more efficient (figures 1 and 2).In response to odi’s information request letter, ford indicated that a misfire condition could occur after steady-speed operation under significantly humid and rainy conditions.Ford’s analysis found that under those conditions, condensation could form and accumulate on the inside of the cac tubes which could then be ingested into the engine during particularly hard acceleration near wide-open throttle. An engine misfire of up to three cylinders could occur if the amount of condensed water released from the cac exceeded the engine’s operating threshold for water ingestion.Ford noted that due to regulations set by the epa, the powertrain software would disable up to two of the misfiring cylinders for no more than 30 seconds and until the driver tips out the throttle in order to protect the catalytic converter from damage. Ford’s testing of this condition on the subject vehicles showed that a vehicle experiencing such a condition would continue to maintain its speed as well as accelerate, albeit at a lower rate than expected by the driver.Similar results were obtained in testing done by nhtsa’s vehicle research and testing center in east liberty, ohio (figure 6).In an ongoing process to address the problem ford issued a series of tsbs where a deflector shield was installed onto the cac (figures 3, 4 and 5).In january 2014 ford indicated that its data shows that the tsbs have been effective in resolving the problem, that for the my 2013 vehicles their remedy is 100% effective and the latest tsbs for my 2011 – 2012 are 95% effective. The 525 complaints to odi and the total 4,120 unique vin complaints listed in the failure report are incidents of alleged reduced power or driveability symptoms and not all are necessarily related to the condition created by water ingestion.Reduced power conditions can occur for a variety of reasons including faults with ignition coils, spark plugs, a catalytic converter, the throttle body, turbocharger, fuel pump/filter, powertrain control module (hardware or software) or transmission shifting problems.Ford also noted that in a large number of warranty claims on the subject vehicles, the cac was replaced or a tsb procedure was performed when the symptoms exhibited were inconsistent with a cac water ingestion related issue.Given these circumstances, further use of the agency resources in this matter does not appear to be warranted.Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency will continue to monitor complaints and other information relating to the alleged defect and take further action in the future if warranted.

The truck will go from gear 6 to gear 1 and i lose all power. I've almost been in a wreck multiple times. I entered my vin and it shows no recalls on my truck but when i tried looking up what's going on with it i seen a recall regarding the exact same thing. Idk if it's because it's canadian or why.

Tried to apply the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor without actuating the brakes. This happened suddenly and with no warning of any kind prior to the failure. I had to use the parking brake to bring the vehicle to a stop. The "brake fluid low" warning came on in the instrument cluster. The warning and the failure happened simultaneously, i.E. There was no indication of a problem until the braking system failed entirely. The vehicle had no braking action at all from the hydraulic brake system. Upon inspection the seals in the master cylinder appear to have failed, pulling all of the brake fluid into the brake vacuum-booster. It is my understanding that a problem identical to this one led to several accidents and a recall in the 2013-2015 f150. Clearly the issue is not limited to those model years as my truck is a 2011.

On april 3 ,2015 i was driving my truck when i went to turn left i lost all steering and almost hit another car. I immediately took the vehicle to hoffman ford when on 4/5/2021 they did a test. I was contacted and was told that it was due to a software update needed. I was charged for the update and when i contacted ford they told me sorry there is no recall and basically nothing was going to be done. This is very dangerous and needs to be addressed quickly. I could have been seriously injured or injured someone else. I don't know what would have happened if i would have been pulling my camper. I can understand a a part going bad but an update.. So now we are charging for software updates and risking lives of others.

I i took this vehicle to ford of dalton, georgia because there is a safety recall on the pcm and transmision that will suddenly downshift into 1st gear while going down the road. Customer service manager stated that it would cost me $140 dollars to diagnose the problem, and if the problem was the molded lead frame in the transmission that communicates with the output shaft sensor, that it would not be covered by the recall or warranty. This contradicts what the recall states. I shouldnt be charged $140 dollars for them to diagnose a recall..This is on a 2011 ford f-150

This contradicts what the recall states. I shouldnt be charged $140 dollars for them to diagnose a recall..This is on a 2011 ford f-150

Advance trac warning light came on screen as wife and 2 young children were driving under normal conditions at night. Immediately wife lost power steering and could not avoid a mailbox in front of house . Truck immediately shut down upon crashing into mailbox and would not restart. . However lights , cluster in dash and interior lights would not shut off , with key removed from ignition . Wife opened doors . She inserted key into ignition while turning switches and knobs attempting to shut down accessories . Nothing would shut off . Sync system was asking several uninvited questions , while cluster was turning off and on , blinking , flashing random warning lights and indicators . Blinkers would not work . Towed vehicle home . With key not in ignition , same things , lights would not turn off . Removed vehicle ground cable from battery post . Purchased and installed brand new motorcraft battery and still have same issues . Can not drive truck at this point as this is a safety nightmare waiting to happen to unsuspecting drivers and passengers . There was no previous warning or pre-emptive measures that could have prevented this from occurring . After researching this issue , we know ford is aware of it . We know they will not recall the rack and pinion steering that causes this . Please let me be perfectly clear : we do not care nor want to be part of a class action lawsuit . We are ford lovers and owners since a 1978 pinto . We only want our truck to be fixed at no charge to us . We do not have any interest in exasperating this issue with other owners to further bash the ford brand . We only wish to take it to the dealership and get it fixed with ford at the very least giving us a discount on the labor or parts . If not full reimbursement , half off would ,make me a happy ford owner again and in the future . Covid 19 has left us broke . Ford please help us !!!!!

Had a recall on my 2011 f150 . I took it and got it fix for the 12c23 a/t range sensor and its still doing that same things , it goes into reverse but want immediate on the dash of my f150 and this condition increases the rick of a crash or someone being hit because the truck isn't signaling it's in reverse . So the time i took my truck in to get this problem fixed it didn't fix the issue and when i get in reverse and back out , i have to put truck in park and cut to rest it because if not the truck will not shift gears . I took it back to ford and was going to charge me 2800.00 for lead frame and cpm

I seen there is a recall on cooper tires. The cooper tires i have on my truck is not on the list but, on 02/17/2021 one of my front tires did what they claim the tires on recall do. I was driving on a highway and my low tire light come on and instantly my tire went flat and was told it was un-repairable. I had replace that tire and also i replaced the other side so both would have the same trade wear.

My dealer and ford have refused to fix my vehicle under the original customer satisfaction program rules for 19n01, and because of a technicality and fords new extra strict rules, i am being asked to pay out of pocket. I only have 10 days left on the customer satisfaction program and they are giving me the run around. My vin was recalled for unintended transmission downshift safety issue, which has cause accidents and injuries as well as damage to the vehicle. 19n01 is the nhtsa number. The original recall i received in the mail said that the programming would be redone first (19s07) and i did that in late 2019. On february 8th i experienced an unintended downshift event while in motion, on the highway, i was immediately slowed down, 'wrench light' on my dash, as well as zero speedometer, and was in limp mode. This is exactly the symptoms in the recall. Thankfully myself and my truck were on injured. I took my ford f150 to my independent ford truck mechanic for a diagnosis, he found dtc P0722. A pdf of his work ticket is attached. He directed me to take it to the ford dealer in dallas to receive the recall and free repair under the customer satisfaction program. I took my ford f150 into planet ford in dallas texas, and they said that ford change the requirements, they now requires that the code be present in the system, be printed out, for evidence to have the recall covered. They would not accept my mechanics evidence of the code. When they checked my f150, they claimed the code was no longer in the system therefore they could not fix it under the customer satisfaction program. I told them my ford truck mechanic saw the code, they are very familiar with him and his independent shop, and they said it didn't matter, ford changed the rules on them. 2 recalls exist through ford: 19n01 and 19s07. Bought truck with 163,760 miles on october 12, 2020 with no mention of recall. Recall notice received in january and very shortly began downshifting to 1st gear while driving at 55mph on a state highway!!! Almost caused wreck. In order to get home, had to drive 25mph and slower on 55mph on same highway. Called ford dealership and made appointment. Vehicle had to be towed to dealership. Recall 19s07 was repaired. They denied and refused to honor safety recall on 19n01. We were told we would have to pay $821 as vehicle was beyond 150,000 miles. In order to get vehicle in operational order, it had to be repaired. The downshifting is a major safety hazard; the mileage should not effect a safety hazard on any vehicle because it is a hazard. Date listed "when did this happen" is the day vehicle was picked up at dealership.

The transmission will not shift into gear from first gear. The rpm gauge goes up but transmission won't change gears. I have to disconnect the battery to get it going again and i am not getting a check engine light or code. I will also down shift while driving on the highway or get stuck in one gear depending on what gear i am on. It has done it several times already the last time was on february 05, 2021.

After tapping the floor accelerator the engine went to full throttle and stayed there. Even after putting the vehicle in park the engine remained at 7000 rpm. Outside temp was -2f. Vehicle had been idling for 7 minutes prior to the incident. The event occurred while pulling into park at 10 mph. Almost hit a parked car and building but was able to brake and put the vehicle in park. After running at full throttle in park for at least 30 seconds the engine shut down. Also, the driver's side windshield wash spray stopped working a few days earlier.

Then it started putting when i drove and kept getting worse and the check engine light flashes for a good minute. Everytime it said there was nothing wrong with it, and the dealership only found minor stuff that needed fixed but it was none of thoes that was causing this issue. So then i looked for recalls, and i had the recall on my truck done and then my truck started knocking. This is still happening and nobody can seem to figure out whats going on with the truck.

Transmission is getting stuck in 1st gear. The speedometer is not working when this happens. The vehicle is not showing any mechanical problem lights on the dash. The truck s a supercab lariat limited 6 speed 4x4, awd. It is not showing up on the recall list vehicle has almost 90,000 miles

NoNoN NoneNone20201227

The most recent incident resulted in transmission having a harsh downshift to first gear causing vehicle to jerk and engine revs up. This has happened several times in the past including a few days before taking it in for the recall repair in 2019. ( recall 19v -075). This problem, according to ford, is due to intermittent failure of the output speed sensor ( part of the molded leadframe in the transmission). Two latest incidents occurred on a city street. Have had at least one occasion on an expressway where vehicle had very jerky transmission shift while in cruise control. Have complained about this to ford and took the vehicle in on two occasions ( see attached invoices). The problem has never been resolved and no warning messages or trouble codes have been found during the repairs. Ford issued an extended warranty coverage ( program # 19n01) on may 2019 and my vehicle still qualifies. I took the vehicle in this week to request they replace the molded leadframe since the problem is still present. They refuse to replace the part because they say no trouble codes are present. I have found others on ford forums who say they have the same problem and they also have no trouble codes stored either. Ford needs to acknowledge that the lack of trouble codes does not ensure the problem is not present. I continue to have concerns that my family's safety and others is jeopardized by ford not agreeing to take responsibility and making the necessary repairs. They themselves say in the recall notice that "this condition could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash."

This vehicle has a serious problem with the electric power steering assistance service (epas) . The steering module seems to not control the steering well, making it hard to turn or it begins to lock. The rack and pinnon seems to be the issue causing this and can lead to a serious accident since if going on speeds of 45mph+ the car steering becomes rigid and does not have a balance between a nudge to the left or a hard left. It makes that hard left without any warning.

After cranking the vehicle, i put in in reverse. The check engine light came on and it did not want to back up. Fearing that i would damage the vehicle i had it towed to the dealer. It was pulling a trouble code P0705 for the transmission range sensor. There is a recall on this (12c23) for ford f150's for certain 2011 through 2013 models. I was told that my vehicle was not included in this recall because it was made 4 months before the recall years. My ford was made in 4/11. The recall started for 8/11 year vehicles. My truck is the same year, make, model, and has the same engine and transmission as the recalled vehicles and it should also be covered in the recall. This does not make any sense at all to exclude my vehicle. I have the receipt from the dealer that cost me $907.36. The tow bill was $140.00. I should be reimbursed from ford for all this.

We were driving down the highway at 10:30pm going 55mph. All of a sudden, we heard a very loud bang that almost caused me to run off the road, thankfully i didn't. I pulled over to investigate and there was nothing wrong until i looked at the back glass. The back glass on the passenger side was completely shattered. Out of no where. Mind you, there was nothing wrong with this prior. I haven't even had this truck for thirty days yet and this happened. I was especially worried because my 4year old daughter was in the back seat, on the passenger side. She could have been seriously injured due to this.

Problem started before 100,000 miles. 2011 ford f-150 currently has 230,000 miles and the issue is getting more severe. The steering is "sticky", there is resistance when you attempt to turn the steering wheel. Letting go of the wheel the vehicle remains in the stuck position and does not automatically return to a neutral steer position. With minor resistance you need to give the wheel a little jerk or two to get the vehicle's wheels to unlock and respond. Lately there are increased incidences where the steering wheel severely sticks and needs a strong tug to unlock. The strong tug causes the vehicle to overcompensate when the steering breaks free requiring a second jerk of the wheel to keep control. Early in the history of this problem the sticking was worse when turning to the left, but now the issue is most severe when turning right. I'm not sure, but the situation may be exacerbated if breaking while attempting to turn the steering wheel. At worst it's dangerous, at the least it makes for tense driving. The problem comes and goes and seems random. A few days ago, for the first time a "service power steering" warning displayed. At a ford dealer they diagnosed the problem as a "weak" battery. The cca (cold cranking amps) 850 battery was only outputting a cca of 575, volts of 12.41. They replaced the battery, cleared all diagnostic fault codes, and pronounced the problem fixed. Soon after leaving the dealership and sticking resumed, nothing sever, but clearly still sticking. Later i experienced a sever sticking incident. This is not the first time that i've gone to a dealership for help with this problem. A while ago a ford service rep suggested battery terminal corrosion could cause the problem. The terminals were corroded, i cleaned the negative terminal, replaced the positive and the steering issue noticeably improved but did not terminate.

There are numerous videos on youtube call the slip yoke clunk if you need to see what it is doing.

Vehicle will lock the steering wheel while driving if rotated to make a hard left turn. Once the steering wheel is locked, it takes a tremendous amount force to unlock the wheel. The 10-speed 10r80 automatic transmission that is located in many f150's is defective as it can shift harshly and erratically at very high speeds, causing vehicle control loss and causing accidents. The vehicle will often jerk, lunge, and cause loss of control as sometimes it will stop engaging. Ford dealers are hesitant to repair the part and negligent when it comes to the safety of the drivers. Often not blaming it to the faulty transmission but other 'non related faults' that have occurred in the transmission, hence not providing free repair.

The vehicle was turned off and restarted with no issues. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that there was a recall for the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to darlings ford volkswagen audi (403 hogan rd bangor, me 044101) where the failure was diagnosed as a transmission failure. The vehicle's computer was reprogrammed however, the failure was not remedied. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer overnight for repairs however, a week later the failure recurred. The contact was informed that the repair would be over a $1,000. The contact was unaware of the diagnoses since the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was emailed and made aware of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the recall was not confirmed by the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

I have checked all bulbs, that are fine, fuses fine. I should note, till it is fixed i can't get it inspected, and therefore can't get it registered.

Hello, my 2011 ford f150 xlt truck with approximately 53,500 miles was diagnosed with rack and pinion electric steering failure and had to be replaced. It started with "service advancetrac" error and advanced to "power steering assist fault". It became increasingly hard and dangerous to drive and had to be taken to tire kingdom to be repaired for around $2000.00. The vehicle was in motion when the issues happened and became dangerous when driving on city or highway. I am concerned that a vehicle with a little over 53,000 miles has a dangerous failure like this. I read that 2011 was the first year that ford introduced the electric steering and am surprised that there has not been a recall for this issue. Is there any compensation for this? Back in february or march of this year (2020), i took my truck to a local ford dealer for an estimate on a couple of different repairs and also for them to perform recall #19v075. After having my vehicle for 3 days they did not perform any repairs. And until today when i looked up my vin, i had assumed that they would have at least done the safety recall. But they apparently neglected to do that too. Well, last night when i was about to pull into my driveway, my truck seemed to downshift abruptly and have minimal power and various lights turned on and off on the dash. Then this morning, my truck would not start. It would only start in neutral, followed by extremely aggressive shifting into drive and reverse. Aggressive enough to cause the truck to move a couple of feet even with my foot on the brake. This subsequent problem appears to be associated with fsa 19n01 that ford has associated with my vin. I suppose that it is unknown right now if the two problems are related. I will find out wednesday, as i have an appointment to take my truck back in. I just cannot believe that after having my vehicle for multiple days, they failed to perform the safety recall update as i requested. I am lucky that i did not experience the downshifting problem while at higher speeds! I am not sure if this is even worthy of a complaint, but i figured that i should pass this along. The dealership is van horn ford in oconomowoc, wi. *tr

I purchased my 2011 f150 ecoboost in used condition in 2014. The primary use for my truck is around town errands and hauling light loads. For sometime now i have had issues, like many others have complained as well, during acceleration at 45+mph the engine loses it's power, shudders and stalls. Once there is a reduction in the amount of throttle, it takes a few minutes to regain "normal" driving conditions. For example, my family and i were coming home from florida on the parkway, in july and with no abnormal weather conditions, and as i was ascending a grade about 75 miles per hour and a semi truck behind me, i gave the truck more throttle and it began to shudder violently, a subtle backfire, and lost power and could not regain throttle response. I quickly moved the truck into the emergency lane and had let the truck return to a normal idle, took a few minutes, before almost getting into a serious collision with the semi-truck. Over the past years i have just dealt with the issue and have taken it to mechanics and scanned the truck with no error codes or issues, until just recently. The mechanic scanned it and it showed misfires on #4 and #6. He replaced the coil and plug hoping that would be the cure, but with no luck it did not solve the issue. I'm reluctant to drop another $250.00 to replace the rest of the coils, but i don't know what else to do. I do not have disposable income and the truck is paid for, i and can't afford to get another vehicle. I enjoy my f150 and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. I have read post after post and video's that there are many people experiencing the same issues, but it seems no one is willing to step forward and make the complaint. I want this issue addressed and i hope ford will resolve the issue before someone is seriously injured or a life is taken over this problem. *tr

The cruise control does not work because of a censor either up by the steering column or the sensor by the master cylinder under the hood ! It's about a $150.00 fix but i just got this truck and started driving it so i was shocked when i was having problems so early!! For a average person that is not much but for me i live in disability it sure takes the money away from food i was going to buy so it's a hardship. I love the truck and it's great but it's hard for me to get it fixed because i rely on the cruise control to keep the same speed when going down the highway . Please if there is anything you can do please let me know including sending me the part and i'll put it on it?S the cruise control sensor under the hood by the master cylinder. It release so the truck will slow down when the cruise control is turned off . Please and thank you. Have a blessed day [xxx] again thank you for your time . It's just hard for everyone right now . I have a 2011 ford f-150. The timing chain has stretched abnormally, causing the mileage and power to be reduced, and causing the engine to make a terrible noise (akin to a diesel starting on a cold day) when it is started, lasting for 5-10 seconds. The 2011 f-150 3.5l ecoboost timing chain stretching problem is well-known across ford user forums. There have been so many forum posts and complaints regarding this issue, yet ford has not done anything to fix the issue. This is a systemic design issue and ford needs to take ownership and provide a fix for owners that are affected by it.

The steering sticks in spots, very jerking when trying to steer. Once when turning to the left, had wheels turned all the way to the left and steering locked up, for a moment i thought i was going to have to have it towed. Again cannot make smooth corrections and slight turns without jerking the truck do to steering malfunction. Very dangerous. And of course the truck is in motion, on city streets, highway, and turning. Below you want a specific date, is does this constantly whenever i drive it.

When it gets cold the truck will go into reverse and not into drive. When trying to go to park, all the dash indicators do not light up and the check engine light comes on. After shutting off the truck and restarting it a few times, the P0705 and P1702 codes are on and i drive it home. The next day i take it in to the dealer and codes are gone and no history either. Nothing to be done as the codes i gave them are not on truck anymore. This has happened 4 times already to date within the last month.

The rear window shattered on the passenger side of our vehicle. I cannot see out of it. The vehicle was stationary. We did not see anything happen to it (person) via our security cameras. I am worried it will shatter. This seems to be a common problem as i have conducted research on the internet.

Turned on rear power slider window defrost but defrost light would not come on. However, shortly after a loud sound like a gunshot was heard and the rear window on the passenger side was found to be shattered. Temperatures were in the 30s fahrenheit at the time. Called local dealer and they responded they do not replace rear windshields so it was replaced by local auto glass vendor.

When vehicle placed in reverse there is a delay 5-8 seconds before jerking hard into gear suddenly. Additionally the gear indicator lamp on the dash disappeared. Then a large yellow wrench appears. The vehicle was assemble at the kansas facility and fords 12c23-s1. Safety recall campaign fails to cover this, stating there is no recall listed for this vehicle vin. This vehicle nearly struck a student when my wife (teacher) was attempting to place vehicle in reverse to leave her parking place, when there was a delay to go into gear she pressed the accelerator thinking it needed fuel. As the transmission abruptly jerked into gear at the high rpms the vehicle shot backwards out of control. This is a known safety issue and is not being addressed by ford because of a number on a piece of paper. It appears i'm not the only one with this issue and ask for your assistance in helping prevent a tragedy. Your organization has addressed this in the past and it appears it needs to be addressed again.

It down shifts really hard for no reason. It happened the 1st time on 12-24-19 when i was doing approx. 30 mph and for no reason it just slammed down. Then again on 12/28/19 again i was doing about 30mph. Suddenly my dash display just showed dash lines and a picture of a wrench on it. About 10 seconds later is just slammed down again. I pulled over and shut the vehicle off for 60 seconds and then started it back up again and it was fine. The tranny also seems to be slipping on occasion

When accelerating the vehicle transmission slips into a lower gear, downshifting improperly causing a bump in the ride and a danger in clean acceleration. This issue occurred multiple times and is a contributing power train issue.

I got a recall letter. Recall #19s07. I took my truck to ford dealership, they reprogrammed the module for the powertrain on 6/19. My extended warranty ran out 11/30/19. On 12/21/19 i was driving on the highway and i had my cruise set at 67 mph. All of a sudden my gauges stopped working and had a tool show up on dash. Then my tires started sliding and it downshifted. I almost hit another car. I pulled over as soon as i could and stopped my truck. I restarted my truck and all the gauges were back to normal.I drove it for 2 days without any recurrences.I think reprogramming the module is only a temporary fix. Now everytime i drive it, it will down shift. I drove 35 mph and returned home and had to keep it in low speed. So apparently the reprogramming is not a fix. It is still unsafe and now i have to pay to have it fixed properly so my vehicle will be safe on the highway. Eventually more people will be killed because it was not fixed right. Ford should be made to pay for there defects. Not the consumers. I almost had a wreck because ford is trying to fix there mistakes the cheapest way out, not the safest. Respectfully submitted an unhappy ford owner

The electric vacuum pump for the brake booster on my 2011 ford f150 is showing the symptoms of failure. (suddenly very loud) it's only a matter of time. Ford has acknowledged that this part goes bad too quickly and offers an extended warranty for trucks showing this symptom, if the truck was built at certain plants and certain dates. My truck was built at one of those plants and between those dates, but they claim that my truck doesn't qualify for the program because supposedly the part in my truck isn't the same one even though it looks the same, it's in the same spot, it's failing the same way, and it's failing within the extended warranty period. They also say that when this part fails it can substantially reduce braking power.

Driving in a strip mall the steering locked up and a code stating power steering assist fault warning came on. I had to forcefully steer into a parking space to get out of the way from thru traffic. I turned off the engine and restarted the truck and it reset the warning. I was able to drive to an o'reillys where they were not able to help me. The steering locked up again at o'reillys. I had to call a nephew to help me with truck to a shop to see what the problem was. Three same code came on. There should be a recall for this issue. It is very dangerous.
