  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2006-2011 hyundai azera and 2006 hyundai sonata vehicles. Water may enter the anti-lock brake (abs) module and result in an electrical short .
  hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay in the vehicle's main junction box to prevent the risk of an abs short-circuit while the car is turned off, free of charge. • Recall 98157 [USA]: Control arm separation may suddenly change the rear wheel alignment, affecting the handling of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2006-2010 sonata vehicles manufactured march 1, 2005, through january 21, 2010; and model year 2006-2011 azera vehicles manufactured september 27, 2005, through november 22, 2010 originally sold in, or currently registered in, connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia. Road salt and water can enter portions of the rear crossmember, leading to corrosion of the crossmember steel. This may lead to detachment of one of the rear control arms.

  hyundai will inspect and replace the right front seat belt and install a new seat belt tension sensor wiring harness clip, if necessary, and reroute the right front seat belt tension sensor wiring and secure the wiring with a new harness clip. • Recall 74273 [USA]: Any of these malfunctions could lead to a crash.
  Hyundai is recalling 3,011 model year 2005-2007 elantra, tucson, sonata, azera and accent vehicles. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to fail to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause the brake lights to remain illuminated when the brake pedal is released. A defective stop lamp switch may also affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature so the transmission would not be able to be shift out of the "park" position. It may also cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate, and it may not deactivate the cruise control when the brake pedal is depressed.

• Recall 74901 [USA]: Improper aiming of the headlamp may result in poor visibility possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
  Hyundai-kia is recalling 4,085 replacement headlamp assemblies sold for use on 2006-2008 sonata and azera vehicles. These headlamp assemblies may not have been aligned properly and fail to conform to the photometric requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.
  hyundai-kia dealers have been notified and instructed to return their supply to hyundai motor america. None of the headlamps were sold as retail. As a result, an owner notification letter will not be issued.

  On certain vehicles equipped with an anti-lock brake system (abs), the abs module remains powered on when the vehicle is turned off. If moisture were to enter the module, over time, an electrical short could occur, which could increase the risk of an underhood fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will install a relay in the vehicle’s main junction box to ensure the abs module is powered off upon the vehicle being turned off.

  On certain vehicles, road salt can corrode the rear crossmember assembly, which may ultimately lead to separation of the control arm at the mounting point. This would allow the wheel to rotate off its designed axis, and could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will repair or replace the rear crossmember assembly.

  On certain vehicles, the wiring harness for the right front seatbelt tension sensor may sustain damage after repeated usage of the seatbelt. Should this occur, the front passenger airbag may not deploy in a crash, which could result in personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will inspect and, either replace the right front seatbelt assembly, or reroute the seatbelt tension sensor wiring harness, whichever is required.

  In a letter dated august 9, 2013, hyundai-kia america technical center, inc. (hyundai) notified nhtsa that hyundaiis conducting a safety recall (13v-354) involving approximately 239,000 vehicles involving model year (my) 2006 through 2010 hyundai sonata vehicles (approximately 215,000)produced beginning on march 1, 2005 through january 21, 2010 and model year (my) 2006 through 2011 hyundai azera vehicles (approximately 24,000) produced beginning on september 27, 2005 through november 22, 2010 that are registered in and operated or originally sold in the following 20 "salt belt" states and the district of columbia: connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia, and wisconsin.Hyundai will also inform dealers to inspect/repair vehicles that were previously registered in salt belt states but are currently registered elsewhere. Hyundai is conducting the recall to remedy a defect involving internal corrosion of the rear sub frame that may lead to separation of the rear upper/lower control arm(s) at their respective mounting points and/or separation of the axle from the transaxle where they meet.This could result in a loss of vehicle control and/or vehicle disablement which may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.In response to nhtsa’s information request (ir) letter, hyundai stated the azera vehicles utilizes the identical cross member and upper/lower rear control arm components as the subject (sonata) vehicles.In analysis of both vehicle owner questionnaire (voq) data submitted to the office of defects investigation (odi) and consumer complaint data submitted to hyundai, odi identified 19 non-duplicative reports alleging excessive corrosion of the rear sub frame. All of the complaint vehicles were either originally sold or registered at the time of the incident in one of the salt belt states.Of these 19 reports, 9 alleged either a suspension component separation or a fracture of the vehicles rear cross member assembly.Similarly, odi identified 8 warranty claims of rear sub frame replacement in data submitted by hyundai due to excessive corrosion, all of which involved vehicles originally sold or operated in a salt belt state. The contact took the vehicle to john amato hyundai of milwaukee (8301 n 76th st, milwaukee, wi 53223) where they applied a waxing application to the suspension to prevent corrosion as stated in the recall. A few years after the recall was performed, the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the left rear spring detached from the vehicle without warning. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where he was informed that the rear cross member had failed. The contact then called the dealer that performed the recall and they stated that they would inspect the vehicle however, they declined to cover the cost of the tow to the dealer. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle remained in the possession of the independent mechanic and was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

How many people have to be injured before hyundai figures out their non-airbag deployment issues? 57 complaints on nhtsa for the 2006 azera air bags, and i was just in a hard side t-bone collision just in front of the driver's door that broke my collar bone, and not one air bag deployed. I was proceeding through a 4 way intersection when my light turned green, and a car to my left was accelerating through the red light. I bought the car brand new, and completed all issued recalls. When my air bag light kept coming on three years ago, i was finally told it was the driver side seat belt tension sensor, which was not covered by a recall, only the passenger side had the recall, so i spent over $600 to have it fixed, and the error light went out. I opened a case with hyundai to inform them i was in a side impact accident and no air bags deployed. When they called to follow up, they did not seem interested in figuring out the problem, said i never brought the vehicle back for a follow up, and asked me what my agenda was? I had no agenda at the time, and was even looking to purchase a g90, but i guess now it is to let some hyundai owners know their could be air bag problems.

The contact pulled over and waited for a while before driving to the residence. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware that the rear driver's side wheel was tilted inward. Upon further inspection, the contact noticed that the subframe was severely corroded with rust holes throughout the center of the subframe. The vehicle was purchased from liberty ford southwest, inc.
