• Recall 243962 [USA]: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 elantra, genesis coupe, sonata hybrid, 2012-2015 accent, azera, veloster, 2013-2015 elantra coupe, santa fe, 2014-2015 equus, 2010-2012 veracruz, 2010-2013 tucson, 2015 tucson fuel cell, and 2013 santa fe sport vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (abs) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
  owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the abs fuse, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed november 1, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available beginning april 2024.   Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011 hyundai tucson vehicles manufactured july 22, 2010, to october 31, 2010. The affected vehicles have a transmission fluid cooler hose that may have been improperly manufactured, resulting in a transmission fluid leak.

• Recall 92752 [USA]: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. additionally, when the ignition is in the 'on' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of park without first applying the brake. this may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor company (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 accent, model year 2007-2011 azera, sonata and sante fe,2006-2011 tucson, 2009-2011 elantra touring, 2007-2010 elantra, 2008-2011 veracruz, 2009-2011 genesis, 2010-2011 genesis coupe, 2007-2008 entourage, and 2006-2008 tiburon vehicles. Originally, in april 2013, hyundai recalled 1,059,824 model year 2007-2009 accent and tucson, model year 2007-2010 elantra, model year 2007-2011 santa fe, model year 2008-2009 veracruz, model year 2010-2011 genesis coupe, and model year 2011 sonata vehicles. In september 2013, hyundai informed the agency that it was adding more vehicles to this campaign, representing an additional 652,512 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 1,712,336. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock feature, preventing the shifter from being moved out of the park position and cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate.

  Issue: hyundai auto canada is conducting a product improvement campaign that provides an update to the engine control module to detect potential problems before an engine fails. An engine failure would cause a sudden loss of power with an inability to restart. Note: this only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.4 l mpi engine. For the sonata model, only the sonata hybrid is affected by this campaign. All vehicles previously included in tc # 2021-033 are now part of this new campaign. Vehicles that were previously repaired under campaign r0181 (transport canada #2021-033) do not require this software update. Safety risk: a sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of an accident. An engine failure could also create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the engine control module. Note: hyundai recommends that you should always follow the correct vehicle maintenance schedule, which is printed in the owner's manual.   Issue: the engine oil pan seal could leak on some vehicles with a 2.4 l engine. If the leak is not repaired, over time this could lead to engine damage or an engine failure. An engine failure would cause a sudden loss of motive power with an inability to restart. Safety risk: a sudden loss of motive power could increase the risk of a crash. In some cases, an engine failure may also result in a fire. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Hyundai dealers will replace the vehicle’s engine oil pressure switch with a new one. Dealers will also inspect the engine’s oil pan, and if necessary, replace the oil pan. Note: a driver may notice any of the following symptoms before an engine failure: an oil leak under the vehicle, a smell of hot or burning oil, a knocking sound from the engine, reduced power or hesitation, a check engine light, and/or an oil pressure warning light.

  On certain vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, the transmission’s fluid cooler hose may have been improperly manufactured. This could result in transmission fluid leaking from the hose, and cause abnormal transmission shifts and/or illumination of the instrument cluster malfunction indicator lamp. If enough fluid is lost, the loss of hydraulic pressure to the transaxle could cause a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the cooler hose with the revised hose.

• Hyundai and kia abs module fires investigation # AQ23002

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has received eight hyundai motor america (hyundai) and eight kia america, inc. (kia) part 573 recall reports between 2016 and 2023. The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (abs) modules or hydraulic electronic control units (hecu) manufactured by the equipment supplier mando. The part 573 recall reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by mando. Safety recalls included in this audit query (aq) review include: hyundai recalls 20v-520, 20v-543, 21v-161, 21v-160, 21v-303, 22v-056, 22v-810, and 23v-651. • Loss of motive power investigation # DP22003

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has received a petition on july 13, 2022, requesting a defect investigation into an alleged defect of the "oil drain pan assemblies" on the following 83 models/model year vehicles stated by the petitioner: 2006-2019 hyundai sonata, 2013-2018 hyundai santa fe sport, 2010-2012 and 2019-2020 hyundai santa fe, 2010-2015 and 2018-2019 hyundai tucson, 2011-2021 kia sportage 2005-2020 kia optima, 2011-2020 kia sorento, 2010-2013 kia forte, 2010-2013,kia forte coup, and 2007-2010 kia rondo vehicles equipped with the 1.6l t-gdi gamma, 2.4l theta ii gdi, 2.4l in-line gdi theta ii, kappa, and 3.8l v-shaped gdi lambda-ii engines. The petition also cites additional hyundai/kia vehicles that use similar drain pan assemblies as the above-mentioned vehicles as having drain pan assembly failures. The petitioner provided subject and peer vehicles information related to alleged engine failures. The petition itself can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11481745.According to the petition, the hyundai/kia vehicle owners have made allegations of oil leakage failures occurring at highway speeds, without malfunction, indicator lights, or the leakage associated with under-tightening an oil drain plug, or a plug or pan with damaged thread. The alleged defects are causing engines to seize and loss of motive power. A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition. The petitioner identified a number of complaints received by nhtsa alleging complete engine failure from a variety of models stated above along with other models. On october 17, 2019, i dropped off my 2011 hyundai tucson at koon's woodbridge hyundai to have the underbody corr. Prevent. Svc. 17-01-039 ' 945 - fixed. The dealer has now had my vehicle for over three months and is now refusing to install the replacement subframe (covered under warranty) unless i pay them $1500 for repairs related to the recall.

The engine was severely damaged by the piston however, the complete extent of the damages were unknown. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway. The contact stated that there was evidence of the oil leak on the roadway. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. An unknown dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 78,000.

While driving on a flat road surface the rear subframe broke on rear passenger side and car was difficult to control. The car was recalled for corrosion and taken to the dealer march 2017 for this issue i feel this should have been fixed at that time so this wouldn't have happened and i don't think it was done! The car had 150,000 miles at time of recall. I also took my car regularly thru car wash to remove road grime from underneath!

My car was having issues starting up. One day we started the car and drove into town and it started to make a rattling noise. The car was also slow to accelerate. When we tried to drive home out of no where the engine went out and the car wouldn't start again.
