• Recall 132677 [USA]: If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Nissan of north america, inc (nissan) is recalling certain 2009 murano vehicles. The valves within the abs hydraulic control units (hcu) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
  nissan has notified owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with dot 4 fluid. The hcu will then be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition. • Recall 67730 [USA]: If the tpms lamp is disregarded and the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the tire will quickly lose air pressure at a consistent rate resulting in a flat tire increasing the risk of a crash.
  Nissan is recalling certain model year 2008-2010 vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, washington d.C., west virginia and wisconsin. • Recall 80550 [USA]: This could result in the passenger air bag being suppressed which could fail to provide adequate protection in the event of a crash.
  Nissan is recalling 204,361 my 2007-2008 altima, altima hybrid, 350z, 350z roadster, my 2008 altima coupe, rogue, my 2009 murano, and infiniti my 2007-2008 g35 sedan, my 2008 g37 coupe and ex35 passenger vehicles equipped with continental automotive systems' occupant classification system (ocs) control units. A varistor in the ocs control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured out of specification. Under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the air bag control unit (acu).
  dealers will test the signal between the ocs and acu systems using a special tool to check that it is functioning as designed. If necessary, the seat cushion (containing ocs hardware) will be replaced with a new one manufactured to specification. The recall began on november 4, 2008.   On certain vehicles, the brake hydraulic control unit (hcu) may become contaminated by a reaction between brake fluid and internal anti-corrosion coatings. This could cause an internal control valve to stick open, potentially increasing brake pedal travel and/or stopping distances. This may create an increased risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will flush the brake system with dot 4 brake fluid.   On certain vehicles, the filament in the bulb of the daytime running lamps (drl) may burn out due to a shorter lifespan than expected. A loss of drl illumination could render the vehicle less visible to other motorists and to pedestrians during daylight hours, possibly resulting in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will replace the daytime running lamp bulbs with a longer life type bulb.

  On certain vehicles, material in the nut used to secure the sensor-transmitter of the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) may corrode and crack in areas with heavy concentrations of road salt. If this occurs, the nut may come out of the tpms sensor-transmitter causing a rapid loss of tire air pressure. This could adversely affect vehicle control and cause a crash resulting in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will replace the tpms nut with a revised version.

  If the vehicle battery becomes significantly discharged and the voltage in the electrical system drops (because, for example, the ignition is left in the "on" position for a significant length of time without the engine running), the airbag control unit (acu) is designed to suppress the passenger airbag and illuminate the passenger airbag status light. When the battery recharges and correct voltage is restored, the acu is designed to reactivate the passenger airbag system. On certain vehicles, incorrect software programming may not allow the acu to reactivate the airbag as intended. This can result in the passenger airbag being suppressed without lighting the warning indicator and the airbag status light. Failure of the airbag to inflate during a crash could increase the passenger seat occupant's risk of injury. Correction: dealers will reprogram the acu.

  On certain vehicles, a varistor in the occupant classification system (ocs) control unit located in the passenger seat cushion may have been manufactured incorrectly. Under certain conditions, this could cause an interruption of signal between the ocs and the airbag control unit (acu). This could result in the passenger airbag being suppressed. The (red) supplemental airbag warning light would flash & the (amber) front passenger airbag status light would illuminate to alert the vehicle operator, however in case of a crash a suppressed airbag could result in personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will test the signal between the ocs & acu and if necessary will replace the seat cushion containing ocs hardware.

• Extended braking distances investigation # EA18001

  The office of defects investigation (odi) is upgrading preliminary evaluation (pe) 17-002 to an engineering analysis.During the pe, odi requested and reviewed information provided by nissan including consumer complaints and other field and technical data related to failures of the hydraulic control unit (hcu), an electro-mechanical brake system component that provides antilock braking and other functionality in the subject model year (my) 2009 murano.The subject failure of the hcu, which involves improper operation of an internal hydraulic control valve, can cause extended brake pedal travel and may result in a reduction in overall braking effectiveness.Tier-one supplier continental manufactured the hcu for nissan.Odi currently recognizes 484 subject vehicle complaints that appear related to the alleged defect.Fourteen crash allegations, with three non-life threatening injuries are under evaluation also.Odi has been monitoring consumer complaints received, and in some cases has obtained suspect hcus from complainants vehicles.Recovered hcus sent to nhtsas vehicle research and test center (vrtc) in east liberty, ohio are under evaluation, and vrtc has conducted limited vehicle testing also.In a july 28, 2017 submission, nissan acknowledged that a failure of the hcu can result in increased brake pedal travel during braking.Nissans analysis of returned parts revealed that a zinc coating used on the normally closed valve assemblies inside the hcu may react with certain brake fluid constituents.The reaction results in the formation of a gelatinous material that can harden with time and prevent the valve from closing after opening in an abs event.When this occurs, nissan maintains that the hydraulic brake system remains intact and that full braking is available once the pedal travels an additional distance, about 36 mm according to nissan.Although still under investigation, nissan states it has not determined the condition represents an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety, citing low rate and vehicle age as additional factors.In march 2018, nissan began conducting a customer satisfaction campaign on certain my 2009 murano to service (flush and replace the brake fluid), and then test and replace the hcu as needed.The campaign is being conducted free of charge to customers.During the ea, odi will request vrtc continue to evaluate the cause and consequence of hcu failures, including the affects of multi-valve failures.Odi will further study the potential scope of the alleged defect as it understands similar hcus and brake fluid is used in other my muranos, and potentially in other nissan models as well.Odi notes that improved valve coatings were introduced on nissan hcus at some subsequent stage.

The backup camera only works at night and even then it is grainy. During the day i can only see a green screen with the yellow and red guidelines. But not what is actually behind my vehicle. This is very dangerous and makes backing this 2009 nissan murano suv difficult. It's a large vehicle with blind spots. The main reason i bought the car was because it has a backup camera installed. I have seen blogs with same complaint. Nissan offers no help or solution. Have been told i would have to buy a whole new camera and dash navigation screen. Very expensive.

Got car on june 15 after 3:30. Five hours later the car would not reverse or drive forward. Sound like gears would not shift. And the car was also dropped of to me with no antifreeze. I found codes: P1700, P0868, P1778, P0746 and top motors who i bought the car from towed the car to fix it but has not told me what was wrong with the car. I have not heard from them and i missed one and a half day of work. They gave me a 6 month warranty but it should have been 2 year warranty. They said it will take at least a week to get it back to me. I have been without my car for 5 days. The car was on carfax website. I would like a 2 year warranty and half of the money back of what i paid for the car.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 nissan murano. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was parked at a nearby parking lot. The contact stated that the failure recurred three times. After the third failure, the vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to hubler nissan (8435 us-31, indianapolis, in 46227, (317) 888-9227) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 169,000.

The vehicle had catastrophic transmission failure at highway speeds. The vehicle has all regular maintenance and less than 60,000 miles on the odometer. We had to make evasive maneuvers to avoid being in a collision.
