• Recall 230759 [USA]: Air bags that do not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
  Kia motors america (kia) is recalling certain 2017-2019 sedona, soul, soul ev, 2017-2018 forte, and 2017 forte koup vehicles. The air bag control unit (acu) cover may contact a memory chip on the printed circuit board and damage the electrical circuit. Circuit damage may result in deactivated air bags that will not deploy in a crash.
  dealers will inspect the acu, and either update the software or replace the unit, as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed march 21, 2022. Owners may contact kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is sc226.

  Kia motors america (kia) is recalling certain 2016-2018 forte 4-door, forte koup 2-door, and 2018-2019 rio 4-door vehicles. The trunk latch may become damaged, preventing the opening of the trunk from the inside. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 401, "internal trunk release."
  dealers will replace the trunk latch assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on february 10, 2022. Owners may contact kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is sc216.

  Issue: on certain vehicles, small metal particles that are not captured by the oil filter can build up in the oil pump. If this happens, the engine oil pressure may be reduced. This can cause engine wear and result in abnormal engine noise. The malfunction indicator lamp (mil) and/or oil pressure warning light may also turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with these symptoms, the engine could fail. An engine failure can cause a sudden loss of power with an inability to restart. Note: this only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.0 l nu mpi engine. Safety risk: a sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the oil pan with a new one that has two magnets to capture small metal particles.

I took a rd trip and downloaded root just to track my adventures and maybe side with quote offered. I've been tracking miles since i got the car! Listening to its functions. There's something off for sure. The hr ride there with speed performance was ok. The night rd back on hwy was the ultimate mind shifter for an indication of the gears not properly shifting and picking up speed. As i road about 70mph i left laned to pass vehicles slowing on right. As i accelerated to pick up speed it topped off at 80! I continued to press gas petal slowly down till reached floor then i slowed and got back in the rt lane! Cruised it down to about 50 and put it in standard! 5th gear and sped up till gear change and put in 6th gear for ride. It did not puck up speed as it should've and it still stalled at 80!!!!!! There's more to this on small notes and i know something is off! I'm no crash dummy! The 2018 kia doesn't smoothly accelerate either from a stopped point. Acts as if there's horse power with easing on the gas from a stopped point. Also with a/c on driving it makes a wired noise after awhile. That happened twice where i turned it off. When manually driving it's like riding in standard without upshifting with the stick. Feels like i have to let off gas for it to properly change gears then accelerate. It's like the car does what it want and i have to work with it! That's scary! I haven't had the vehicle over a month! I told dealership where bought it from and they said if no lights came on there's pretty much nothing. Car doesn't even have 70,0000 miles on it!!! I'd hate not to prevent something seeing i explained this!

I took the car to kia and gave them all my oil change receipts. They said i was missing 1 maybe 2 so it wouldn't be covered. So picked the vehicle up took it by o riley's where they tested it and said it was a crank shaft sensor we replaced that and it did not fix the problem. We've been driving it because it's our only form of transportation so today my husband was driving it and thankfully not going very fast when it cut off, my husband tried to put it in neutral to restart and ended up going down a hill and hit a tree. Kia needs to do something about this issue! My husband could have been really hurt and thank god i was not in it i'm pregnant nor my 2 small children. This has really made me not ever want another kia or will i ever recommend one to a friend or family member! What's kia waiting for to fix this problem? Someone to die first because the car cuts off in traffic and you get slammed!!! What if this was a teenage in their first car they would not know what to do i barley know what to do when it stalls i'm traffic. Just ridiculous!*dt

The vehicle was well maintained by the kia dealership as promised up to the warranty period of 12000 miles as promised by kia , at no extra charge to the customer. Afterwards the 1st original owner would continue the schedules service as outlined in the owners manual . This maintenance service would always be performed at the owners usual trusted repair shop and if not within the area at the time service was needed , a reputable repair shop would be the choice . With a well maintained vehicle in my possession i soon experienced an engine failure due to metal shavings causing poor oil circulation and paired with several other factors causing sludge build up which rendered my vehicle garbage . The dealership claimed it was due to negligence and improper maintenance . The failure happened while my children were in the vehicle during a thunderstorm with flash flooding . "satisfaction guarantee" is a lie !

53,000 no warning was driving along a highway car started to knock. Then all of the sudden car shuts off and i pull over. Come to find out engine through a rod in the block and was not cover under warranty because they said i didn't have enough proof oil was never change even though i gave them all my receipts.

I needed to take my car in to the mechanic to repair a tire that had a nail in it. While repairing the tire, i asked him to also check the tread of the tires. He preceded to tell me that the treads were still good, but what concerned him was the tread separation, cracking, and dry rot that the tires had. He said they definitely need replaced but not because of tread. He told me to look in to it because he felt they were defective.

Got my car at 60 miles. That was a lil over two years ago and now my car is at 68000. The engine is stalling and it's not accelerating properly. When i have to break or even break pulling into a parking spot the car cuts off. No lights are popping up and i've never had this issue before. I have trouble with my car starting every time get ready to start it i would have to get someone to jump start my car off every time ike yesterday when i got ready to go to work it didn't start it make a clicking noise ike it's the battery but i really can't tell what is causing this problem i have taken my care to kia dealership they found nothing wrong and here i am again a week later with the same issue as before and no solution and i'm getting really frustrated with problem i jus want fixed. *tr

Ive had my car since 38 miles. This is my second year owning it. It has been well kept and it started having problems about a month ago that has gotten worse. It shakes really bad at 30mph and stays in 6th gear. It also has major problems picking up speed and shifting in general. Sometimes it just stalls and dont go. When switching lanes on the interstate it slows way down and doesn't shift. It doesn't matter my speed. From 10-50mph and up it skips gears and stalls.

Vehicle was in my driveway had to move car forward to get into my trunk as i was only going a few feet i got into car leaving door partial open with my left leg hanging out as i started the car it instaniously surged forward 10 to 12 feet into my garage pinning my leg between the door and the rocker panel after coming to a stop running into a cabinet in the garage i slammed the car in reverse backing out of garage after getting out of car i could see that my foot had been severly cut wide open shortly after my daughter drove me to the hospital to emergency care where i received 14 stitches on top of foot. I was having an issue with a "used" kia the day i bought it i say used because it had less then 2000 miles when i was given the keys, it had wobbly tires and then about 2 weeks into having it, this noise came up in the front right tire, clanking and grinding almost; when i pulled into a parking spot, turning the wheels all the way left, a pop happened. I straightened the wheels and got out. Looked at my front driver and it looked okay, but then when i went to the front passenger it was turned all the way inwards. There was a line with a lug nut on the end that was disconnected. I'm happy it didnt happen doing 65 around a corner.

My car has no eco button or sport button. They both come on and go off for no reason

April 2018, i purchased the kia forte from bulldog kia-athens ga. Two weeks later the tire sensor light came on. The kia was driven to the bulldog constantly. Air pressure checked each time. Aptil 10, 2019 the tire sensor light came on, passenger front tire blewout and damaged rim while in motion.The car was towed from winder hwy: winder ga to bulldog kia. Thr car set over 30 days. I involved gainsco my auto insurance on april 24, 2018. There was damaged done to my car prior to filing an insurance claim. When the gainsco adjuster called on april 27, the service manager said that he couldn't locate my car. The adjuster arrived at bulldog kia. The adjuster said that my car was in a wreck because the added damage while car was parked in bulldog kia's lot. May. 1st, i personally had my car towed from bulldog kia. Cost one was $533 paid at bulldog kia may 1st, 2019. Upon removal, the rear passenger rim was bent and pulled away from the tire. 76 auto repair repaired passenger rear rim and tire: test driven kia, srnsor came on: checked driver rim and tire-rear front rim was cracked-and was repaired. Cost two $434.00 paid may 26, 2019. I was without transportation over 30 days and have photos and receipts.

As indicated in that original complaint i took my forte in to the dealership and had it serviced (oil & filter change, tire rotation) and had them check out the issue i was experiencing; they said they could not find anything (not surprised) however there was some type of kia service alert to replace the spark plugs 'again'... I have had this 2018 forte exactly one year now and i am on the second set of spark plugs which i find quite unusual to put it politely.. I have owned many, many new cars and i've never had spark plugs replaced at this rate so imo there is something else wrong with this vehicle and i guess i will have to do the wait and see.. As far as the original problem i still have it driving along and it feels like i ran out of gas which is not true i have almost a full tank of gas and i keep an electronic fuel log to monitor gas usage and the vehicle is getting about 29 mph around town on regular gas..

Driving at night on a rural road, without street lights (or other ambient lighting), the low beams do not illuminate the road adequately. According to the florida drivers handbook it states that low beams should illuminate 250 feet. Once safely off the roadway, in the same dark conditions, i actually measured the distance that was lit by the low beams and it only measured 85 feet...Way less than required by law.. The low beams are consistently dim yet the dealer claims they are "working properly". This is not safe!

When accelerating there is no power and it is going to cause the accident i was on the freeway i went to switch lanes i hit the gas and the car would not move just stood there and rp m's going up

This problem happened 2 times this week & on 2 separate days while i was driving & since i only drive this car once or twice a week this has me concerned.. The car started ok and drove for a couple of miles just fine when suddenly the car felt like i was trying to drive while the car was in neutral & even with my foot was on the gas pedal the car wasn't going anywhere.. I pulled off the road to get out of the flow of traffic & tried to put the shift lever in a different gear but it was stuck in drive even when my foot was firmly on the brake pedal, so i tried to 'jiggle' it a little from left to right but the shift lever wouldn't really move so i just sat there.. After a few minutes i made an attempt to safely pull out into traffic & the car hesitated a little but then drove fine.. When this happened the first time this week i ignored it and treated it as a 'one time only' issue, but then it happened a second time so i got concerned and made an appointment with citrus kia for 3/15/19 to have this checked out.. I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but felt i should report it and will update this after the kia dealer has a look at it..

I have had my brand new kia forte for 8 months starting in april. I currently have 16,581 miles on the car. About a month ago my eco light came on by itself and there was no way to turn it off so i had to take it to kia where they unscrewed my battery and it went off. Now i am having problems with my car not wanting to turn on and after taking a trip to auto zone we found out that it was the 'crank shaft'. I am having problems with a brand new car that i have only had for eight months. I was driving when my engine light came on so i became really concerned and that's what forced me to have to go to auto zone to see why my engine light was on.

My car was parked in my parents driveway for 24 hours when my husband heard a pop and it had caught on fire flames were forcefully coming out from under the hood and it burned our house down the car was too burned for an inspection by the insurance companies or anybody the car was totaled it was the first new car that i had ever had this happened on 10/31 2018 the city of anaheim california has the fire report which states that it was my car that caused the whole fire according to state farm and mercury casualty it is a large loss

Trunk is constantly popping open, although no one is hitting the button on the keys nor pulling the lever. I can be in the house with my keys on the counter and it will pop open. Actually had stuff stolen because of this. This will happen whether it is stopped, when i'm driving, anywhere. I don't have to hit a bump or anything. Radio is crackly and cuts out and beeps but only when playing bluetooth. When i use an aux or just fm it works perfect.

"takata recall " i was in an accident. The initial impact was the front of the car and the drivers side airbag did not deploy. I ran a stop sign at aprox 35mph and tee boned a truck. After the impact i spun into a telephone pole where the side curtain did deploy.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 kia forte. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the pedal failed to release and became stuck. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,462.

I was entering an onramp at about 15mph; a car yielded in front of me. I hit my brakes and yet slid into the rear of the front car. I did not stop, even with brakes applied, and slid in to the front acre. No airbags deployed and my kia was totaled and undrivable.

Vehicle was purchased with 28 miles on 4/10/2018. The vehicle makes a grinding noise upon applying the brakes. It doesnt matter what speed you are at the brakes grind in reverse or drive when applying the brakes. Kia dealership already replaced caliper says it's normal noise when kia forte is stopped. Would like to know anyone experienced same issue

Well at present my car only has about 400 miles on it i only picked it up on 4/4/2018 & it's starting to sound like the 2016 ford fiesta i traded in.. When stopped at a light the idle gets rough and if this was the 1960's i would say it had a bad spark plug or carburetor issues; however, this is 2018 so not sure but it's the only thing i can relate the idle issue with.. I spoke with the salesperson at the dealership that sold me the car but he said he knows nothing about inner workings of cars so i made an appointment with the service department for 4/25/2018 since i cannot get there at the times they want me to; and until then i can only monitor it.. This issue started after i had the car approximately one week; nothing like florida car dealers selecting a car for me off their lot that has issues..

This is a follow-up to my original complaint # 11088519 on 4/10/18.. When i brought the vehicle to the dealer on 4/25/18, i was told it was a bad spark plug huh on a new car; what would be next.. In any event the dealer had to order the spark plug another huh on that too.. Spark plug is in & i have an appointment tomorrow 5/2/18 to replace & repair & none too soon because the car sounds & runs 'terrible'.. Sitting at a light it sounds worse than the 2016 fiesta i traded in terrible rough idle & really bad when accelerating from a light which could be dangerous.. This kia forte at present has 465 miles on the odometer..

I picked up this 2018 kia forte vehicle on 4/4/2018 which had approximately 18 miles on the odometer so i'm not sure if this issue is because the vehicle is still new or because i just traded in a 2016 ford fiesta & just not used to this vehicle.. What i've noticed is that the gas pedal sticks a little & doesn't respond right away to foot pressure, but i'm a small person so foot pressure is not as heavy as big person.. I just wanted to note this issue just in case it does become an ongoing problem..
