  Chrysler (fca us, llc) is recalling certain 2012-2021 ram 3500, 3500 cab chassis, 4500 cab chassis, and 5500 cab chassis vehicles. Incorrect information in the service and owner's manuals may cause the flanged lug nuts to be over-tightened, which could result in a broken wheel stud and possible wheel separation.
  dealers will update the torque specification in the owner's manual and other published service documents. Dealers will also inspect the vehicle's wheel studs, replacing them if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on november 30, 2021. • Recall 132267 [USA]: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain 2014-2018 dodge journey, charger and durango, ram 2500, 3500, 3500 cab chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 cab chassis and 5500 cab chassis, jeep cherokee and grand cherokee and chrysler 300, 2014-2019 ram 1500, 2015-2018 dodge challenger, 2015-2017 chrysler 200, 2016-2018 ram 3500 cab chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 chrysler pacifica and 2018 jeep wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

• Recall 134811 [USA]: If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling various dodge, chrysler, and ram vehicles equipped with kidde plastic-handle or push button 'pindicator' fire extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. • Recall 127849 [USA]: Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain 2016-2017 ram 3500 cab chassis with a gross vehicle weight rating (gvwr) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 cab chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 ram 1500 and 2010-2017 ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in park may cause the brake transmission shift interlock (btsi) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of park into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

• Recall 111741 [USA]: An engine that stalls without warning increases the risk of a crash.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2016 ram 2500, 3500, 3500 cab chassis and 4500/5500 cab chassis trucks manufactured july 31, 2015, to august 13, 2015 and equipped with a 6.7l cummins diesel engine. • Recall 2021336 [Canada]: Wheels
  Issue: on certain pickup and chassis-cab trucks, the owner's manual and service manual list the wrong torque specification for the wheel nuts. As a result, some trucks may have had the lug nuts over-tightened during servicing. This can damage the wheel studs and, over time, they could break. If this happens, a wheel could separate from the truck. Note: this recall only affects trucks equipped with dual rear wheels and flanged lug nuts. Safety risk: a wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective action: fca canada will contact owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect and replace the wheel studs, as necessary. They will also provide an update for the torque specification listed in the owner's manual.

  On certain vehicles equipped with the roadside emergency kit containing a kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the suspect kidde fire extinguisher with a new kidde fire extinguisher with a steel nozzle.   On certain vehicles equipped with a steering column gear shifter, the brake transmission shift interlock (btsi) may become inoperative. This could allow the steering column gear shifter lever to be shifted out of the park (p) position without depressing the service brake pedal or having the key in the ignition, which could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.   On certain cab chassis trucks, due to a defect in the transfer case, the rear main output shaft could fracture. This could result in a loss of motive power, which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions may increase the risk of a crash. This would also cause a loss of park functionality when in two wheel drive, potentially leading to unintended vehicle movement. These issues could result in injury and/or damage to property correction: dealers will replace the transfer case. Note: the vehicle will remain operable in four wheel drive.

• Front driveshaft/transfer case failure investigation # PE19017

  The office of defects investigation (odi) received a consumer complaint from an ambulance fleet describing that while driving at highway speeds, the driver and assistant felt a vibration and heard a loud noise. Following these events, the engine shut off resulting in a loss of motive power, steering assist and service brakes. The driver was able control the vehicle and bring it to the shoulder of the road. It was determined that the transfer case had broken apart. During a shop inspection, damage was found to fuel lines, brake lines, floor board and the front driveshaft (broken off).When contacted, the complaining fleet provided information on 2 additional ambulance fleets experiencing similar scenarios. In one case, the ambulance was transporting a patient when the incident occurred. The truck was not able to exit onto the shoulder and was stalled on the main roadway. From quarter 4, 2018 early warning reporting data submitted by fca, odi identified failures similar to those described by the ambulance fleets. One failure resulted in a loss of motive power and airbag deployments. An interview with the owner of the company indicated the truck had been serviced exclusively by an authorized chrysler dealer.Consequences of, and systems impacted by driveshaft and/or transfer case failures include the loss of engine power, loss of steering assist, loss of foundation brakes, unintended air bag deployment and engine/cab fires from combustible fluids striking hot exhaust. • Front driveshaft failure investigation # PE19017

  On december 12, 2019, nhtsas office of defects investigation (odi) opened preliminary evaluation (pe) 19-017 after receiving three vehicle owner questionnaire (voq) reports alleging failures of the front driveshaft and/or transfer case, resulting in conditions of 1) a loss of engine power, 2) loss of steering assist, 3) loss of foundation brakes, 4) unintended air bag deployment and 5) engine/cab fires from combustible fluids striking hot exhaust components. the voqs involved model year (my) 2015 through 2017 ram 4500 and 5500 vehicles. Odi received information from the vehicle manufacturer [fiat chrysler automobiles (fca)] via information request letters dated february 28, 2020, and april 21,2020. supplemental information was received on march 17, 2021. A review of the responsive manufacturer information, and related meetings and presentations, showed that the transfer case failures in 97.5% of the claims did not disable the vehicle. Since analysis showed that a failed driveshaft could result in catastrophic damage to the transfer case as well as other safety risks (i.E. Steering/brake failures etc.), odi shifted the investigation to focus only on the front driveshaft failures. the double cardan universal joint design requires maintenance lubrication within every 8000 miles. despite an under-hood maintenance reminder label and professional servicing at both dealers and independent repair facilities, the driveshafts were often found to be unlubricated due to lack of awareness, difficulty of the operation or the lack of the special tools needed to perform the work. to increase the maintenance lubrication rates, in the summer of 2021, fca launched a communications campaign, circulating awareness bulletins, training information, special tool options and instructional videos through more than a dozen channels covering both dealer and independent repair facilities. additionally, in the fall of 2021, fca mailed a vin-specific letter to each registered owner reminding them of the maintenance needs, and also sent a special grease gun adapter to every fca us dealer and fleet operator with an fca us dealer code. Since january 2022,nhtsa has not received a complaint of front driveshaft failure due to lack of lubrication that can lead to failure conditions such as loss of engine power, loss of steering assist, loss of foundation brakes, unintended air bag deployment and engine/cab fires. This drop in complaints, the communications campaign launched by the manufacturer, and the absence of reports from the manufacturer, support the closing of this preliminary evaluation. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist. The high pressure booster hose interior liner came apart and jammed into the brake booster pressure port. This caused loss of power steering and loss of power brakes. This is an ambulance, we have multiple of this same year and model. It was in motion on a city street and resulted in a near miss. Was driving 65 mph in cruise control, on the highway, in motion when i felt a vibration for maybe 10 seconds, dash lights came on within a couple seconds of vibration starting, pulled over to the side of the highway, truck would not go into park. Someone had to bring a truck and trailer to come pick up myself and the truck and a wrecker to load truck on trailer. When truck was loaded, you could see that the transfer case looked like it had exploded. The wiring harness had been pulled out. I checked for any issues of this type with similar year and make trucks and found that some 2016 dodge 5500's have a recall for replacement of the transfer case because this can happen. When i called i was told that my vin is not included in this recall. I think someone should investigate this issue. It seems very odd that same year make and model has this issues but it is only those made between certain dates. How can they be certain? I am now left paying a monthly note on a $45,000 truck that is completely useless. This truck is regularly maintenanced and only has 72,000 miles on it.

Our transfer case failed (blow apart) causing a fire . We had the truck towed to our dealer and for the last three weeks dodge has not allowed the repair to proceed or provided us with contact information or a path forward. We have no truck or plan for it to be fixed. The truck was being driven on a highway at about 50 mph when the transfer case failed.

All funtions of steering column failed. Found unpowered wire to 6steering column module. Traced wire to fusebox and found several corroded wires along with rubber coating falling off. Replaced bad wire ends and am now looking for a perminent fix.

While driving down the road, i felt a slight vibration and then a loud banging noise from underneat the truck. I lost power and had to pull over to the side of the road and then found parts of the transmission on the road and alot of fluid. The engine was smoking but did not catch fire
