These inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

  Due to the ingress of moisture it is possible that a short circuit can occur in the additional coolant pump for the exhaust turbocharger. The driver will be informed of the issue by a warning message on the display in the instrument panel. If not addressed it is possible for further heat build up in the pump which may cause the plug connection and housing to melt and in extreme cases a localised fire in the engine compartment or vehicle.

  On certain vehicles, the wires going to the in-tank fuel pump may not have been crimped correctly. An incorrect crimp could increase the resistance of the circuit which could cause the contact pin to heat and melt the surrounding plastic. This could potentially cause the fuel pump to stop working causing the vehicle to stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Also, in a very rare case, a fuel leak combined with an external ignition source, could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.   On certain vehicles, a float switch, which is attached to the brake fluid reservoir cap, could fail at high temperatures (>70 degrees celsius) and not trigger a low fluid level warning lamp as required by cmvss 135. Due to tolerances within the switch's magnetic parts, in conjunction with thermal expansion of the switch's plastic parts at these temperatures, the switch may malfunction. Correction: dealers will replace the brake fluid reservoir cap.

  Certain 550i, 650i cabriolet, 650i coupe, and x5 vehicles equipped with a v8 engine, operated in conditions of below-freezing temperatures combined with low humidity, may suffer an electrostatic discharge at the fuel rails. If this were to occur, the engine's electronic control unit (ecu) could be affected such that engine stalling could result. If the engine were to stall, this would result in a loss of power steering. Loss of power steering could lead to a condition in which vehicle handling and control were impaired. Correction: dealers will install two additional ground cable between the fuel rails and the ground connection of the ignition coils.

2007 x5 4.8 with panoramic sunroof, sunroof tray overflows and leaks into interior electrical, airbags, and carpet due to defective design/assembly (both when stationary and in motion). Sunroof drains both front and rear have drain tubes which are prone to kink and back up water into the sunroof tray, which then spills over onto the topside of the headliner and from there onto just about every electronic item in the car including air bags and controllers, lighting controls, and electrical boxes on the floor and trunk area. Some have reported arcs and car fires due to the water damage; bmw says it is a maintenance issue although has zero listed for sunroof maintenance, and no amount of cleaning is going to fix the sunroof drain lines that i found twisted...Likely been that way since initial assembly, but routing down inside the apillars makes it nearly impossible to get to try to fix it, much less see it. I can't believe this defect hasn't involved nhtsa recall since it can very easily lead to an in-use electrical fire at worst, or at best failure of airbags to deploy when needed due to water/corrosion issues, as well as thousands of dollars in electrical damage for each occurrence.

The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v045000 (service brakes hydraulic, service brakes). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,871.

On multiple occasions while driving the car, first the abs light would come on, then most other warning lights, then the car would lose all power, engine would stop, can't shift transmission, basically did on the road. Had battery replaced and registered. Happened multiple times again.
