• Recall 204169 [USA]: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2016-2018 santa fe, 2017-2018 santa fe sport, 2019 santa fe xl, and 2014-2015 tucson vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (abs) module could malfunction and cause an electrical short, which could result in an engine compartment fire.
  owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the abs multi-fuse, as necessary, free of charge. • Recall 130957 [USA]: A steering wheel separation while driving can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2018 hyundai santa fe and santa fe sport vehicles. The steering wheel assembly may break, possibly resulting in the steering wheel separating from the steering column while driving.

• Recall R/2018/104 [UK]: Steering wheel may detach
  On affected vehicles when the steering wheel is turned form lock to lock it will be possible for the outer rim of the steering wheel to break away from the boss. If this occurs the vehicle cannot be steered by the driver.
  the steering wheel airbag must be removed to determine the lot number of the steering wheel. If found to be faulty the steering wheel will be replaced.

  Issue: on certain vehicles, the control module for the antilock brake system (abs) could short circuit. Note: this recall does not affect vehicles equipped with smart cruise control (scc). Safety risk: a short circuit could create a fire risk. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the abs multi-fuse. Hyundai advises that you may continue to drive your vehicle, however recommends that you should park it outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.

• Hyundai and kia abs module fires investigation # AQ23002

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has received eight hyundai motor america (hyundai) and eight kia america, inc. (kia) part 573 recall reports between 2016 and 2023. The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (abs) modules or hydraulic electronic control units (hecu) manufactured by the equipment supplier mando. The part 573 recall reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by mando. Safety recalls included in this audit query (aq) review include: hyundai recalls 20v-520, 20v-543, 21v-161, 21v-160, 21v-303, 22v-056, 22v-810, and 23v-651. Kia recalls 16v-815, 20v-518, 20v-519, 21v-137, 21v-331, 22v-051, 22v-800, and 23v-652 the purpose of this aq is to evaluate the timeliness and scoping of hyundai and kia’s defect decision making and adherence with reporting requirements; and understand the varying defect descriptions and remedies between these recalls.

• Loss of motive power investigation # DP22003

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has received a petition on july 13, 2022, requesting a defect investigation into an alleged defect of the "oil drain pan assemblies" on the following 83 models/model year vehicles stated by the petitioner: 2006-2019 hyundai sonata, 2013-2018 hyundai santa fe sport, 2010-2012 and 2019-2020 hyundai santa fe, 2010-2015 and 2018-2019 hyundai tucson, 2011-2021 kia sportage 2005-2020 kia optima, 2011-2020 kia sorento, 2010-2013 kia forte, 2010-2013,kia forte coup, and 2007-2010 kia rondo vehicles equipped with the 1.6l t-gdi gamma, 2.4l theta ii gdi, 2.4l in-line gdi theta ii, kappa, and 3.8l v-shaped gdi lambda-ii engines. The petition also cites additional hyundai/kia vehicles that use similar drain pan assemblies as the above-mentioned vehicles as having drain pan assembly failures. The petitioner provided subject and peer vehicles information related to alleged engine failures. The petition itself can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11481745.According to the petition, the hyundai/kia vehicle owners have made allegations of oil leakage failures occurring at highway speeds, without malfunction, indicator lights, or the leakage associated with under-tightening an oil drain plug, or a plug or pan with damaged thread. The alleged defects are causing engines to seize and loss of motive power. A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition. The petitioner identified a number of complaints received by nhtsa alleging complete engine failure from a variety of models stated above along with other models. The car began shuttering while driving down a main street (45-50mph). When we pulled over we smelled gasoline and burning. The car was towed to hyundai service department. The service department informed my the fuel injectors were leaking causing a fire. The are replying the fuel injectors and told me it would be wise to have them replace all sparks plugs ($190) while they had the engine opened up.

The rear camera has a blue screen this is known for hyundai santa fe sport. Also my suv ran hot while driving. The suv is only 2 years why is the antifreeze/coolant ran out. It was bone dry. Talk to car shop and i was told that the water pump usually ho out on the hyundai santa fe sport. Also my suv act like it dont want excellarate and switch gears especially when turning.

We had no visibility, attempted to stop vehicle, left pavement and struck a tree. During our week rental of this vehicle we did have issues with suv losing power when climbing a hill, but not a steep one at all. Suv would drop at least 10 mph when doing so. Not sure if these two issues are related at all.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 hyundai santa fe equipped with kumho tires, tire line: crugen premium kl33 n/a, tire size: 235/55/r19 n/a, the dot number: 000jtyanh4419. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the front passenger's side tire was shaking abnormally. The contact drove to a tire shop and notice that the tread belt was separating from the front passenger's side tire. The contact stated that the tire was replaced however, in april the front and rear driver's side tires experienced the same failure. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,758.
