• Recall 183143 [USA]: An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.
  Daimler trucks north america llc (dtna) is recalling certain 2017-2019 western star 4700, 4900, 5700, and 6900 trucks. The affected trucks have a power stud that passes through the bulkhead. In certain circumstances, the power stud may contact the bulkhead and result in an electrical arc.
  dealers will replace the pass-through power studs, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed january 7, 2022. This recall supersedes previous recall number 18v-191. Vehicles previously inspected and considered complete under 18v-191 will need to return for the new remedy. Owners may contact dtna customer service at 1-800-547-0712. • Recall 140205 [USA]: If the brake lights fail to illuminate, there would not be a signal to other motorists that the vehicle is slowing, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Daimler trucks north america, llc (dtna) is recalling certain 2008-2018 freightliner cascadia, western star 4700, 4900, 5700, and 6900 trucks. After hard brake applications, the brake light pressure switch may not activate the brake lights with a light application of the brake pedal.

• Recall 125914 [USA]: Failure of the fuel pump will result in a sudden engine stall with no warning, and with no ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Daimler trucks north america (dtna) is recalling certain 2017-2018 freightliner 122sd trucks, western star 4900 and 6900 trucks, and freightliner custom chassis xcm and xcp chassis equipped with cummins isx15 engines. The affected engines have a fuel pump whose drive gear may slip on its drive shaft, resulting in a loss of fuel pump function.
  cummins will send notices to the owners of the affected vehicles and cummins dealers will replace the fuel pumps, free of charge. The recall began on september 11, 2017. Owners may contact cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467 or dtna customer service at 1-800-745-8000. Dtna's number for this recall is fl744.

  Issue: on certain trucks, the pass-through power stud (an electrical connection located on the bulkhead) may come into contact with the bulkhead. If this happens, there could be electrical arcing (sparks). Note: this recall replaces fl-766 (transport canada recall 2018-190). If your truck was inspected as a part of that recall, but the pass-through power stud was not replaced, your truck requires this repair. Safety risk: electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire. Corrective actions: daimler trucks north america (dtna) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dtna authorized service facility to replace the pass-through power stud.

  Issue: on certain trucks, a leak around the windshield could allow water to collect in the connector for the recirculation door actuator for the heating and air condition system. This could lead to damage of the wiring and other parts. As a result, the air conditioning and heating systems may not work properly. There could also be a chance of a short circuit. Safety risk: a short circuit could create the risk of fire. Corrective actions: daimler trucks north america (dtna) will notify owners by mail and provide information on how to inspect for water leaks around the windshield. This is particularly important if the windshield has been replaced. Any repairs necessary to fix a leak or replace parts will be at the owner's expense.

  Issue: certain trucks were built with air reservoir tanks that are too small in relation to the size of the air brake chambers. Canadian regulations require enough air reservoir capacity to ensure the brakes work even with heavy use or when there is a partial loss of the air system. Safety risk: reduced braking could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a daimler trucks north america authorized service facility to modify the truck to ensure it meets canadian regulations.

On certain vehicles, there is a potential for contact between the pass through power stud and the bulkhead, which could result in electrical arcing.   On certain vehicles equipped with cummins isx 15 engines and certain fuel pumps, the drive gear on the fuel pump may spin loose on the drive shaft. This could result in a loss of pumping function, which could result in an engine stall without warning and not being able to be restarted, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: cummins-authorized dealers will replace the fuel pump.

  Examination of safety recall filings for recalls 17v-761, 17v-810, 18v-157, and 18v-163 as submittedby daimler trucks north america (dtna) has raised concerns about the timeliness and scope of these recalls. In particular, odi is concerned that dtna may not have acted with appropriate speed in making a defect determination and filing with the agency.
