• Recall 102564 [USA]: An overheated switch may result in a vehicle fire.
  Chrysler group, llc (chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 chrysler town and country and dodge grand caravan vehicles manufactured august 25, 2010, through october 31, 2013. The affected vehicles may experience overheating of the vent window switch in the driver's door armrest.
  chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the vent window switch with a newer version, free of charge. The owner notification letter was issued and the remedy campaign launched on on december 31, 2014. Owners may contact chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is p25.

• Recall 68482 [USA]: A missing or incorrectly installed rivet could compromise the ability of the steering column to support the occupant loads in the event of a frontal crash, decreasing the effectiveness of the frontal impact safety system. as a result, the condition may increase the potential for injury in a frontal crash.
  Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2011dodge journey, jeep wrangler, chrysler 200, chrysler 200 convertible, dodge avenger, dodge nitro, jeep liberty, dodge caliber, jeep compass, jeep patriot, dodge grand caravan and chrysler town & country vehicles. Some of these vehicles may have been built with a missing or incorrectly installed steering column pivot rivet.

  Issue: this recall is for aftermarket replacement rear window glass produced by vitro automotriz. Certain rear window glass may not have been properly tempered. If the window breaks, the glass may separate into large pieces instead of very small ones. Note: this is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the motor vehicle safety act. Safety risk: glass that breaks in to large pieces could create a risk of injury. Corrective actions: the company will notify consumers by mail and instruct them to inspect the designation code marked on the rear window glass. Products affected by this recall have the designation “dot 287” along with the lettering “vmr” (replacement market) and a date code that is before july 2019. This information is printed on the bottom corner of the glass. Consumers should contact vitro's customer service at 1-412-995-6457 or [email protected] to arrange for replacement of the glass.

  On certain amerivan 10 wheelchair accessible vehicles built on dodge grand caravan and chrysler town and country platforms, the crimp fasteners used to retain fittings in the fuel line may not be fully crimped or compressed. This could result in a fuel leak. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect fasteners and crimp the fasteners further to ensure they are fully compressed and seated.

• Totally integrated power module failure investigation # DP14004

  In a letter dated august 21, 2014, the center for auto safety (cas) petitioned the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) to initiate a defect investigation of alleged failures associated with the totally integrated power module (tipm) installed in chrysler suv’s, trucks, and vans beginning in the 2007 model year. The petitioner alleges that tipm defects may result in engine stall, airbag non-deployment, failure of fuel pump shutoff resulting in unintended acceleration, fire, and other symptoms. On september 25, 2014, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened dp14-004 to evaluate the petition for a grant or deny decision. Odi analyzed complaint data provided by cas as well as complaints submitted to odi from consumers. In total, there were 296 complaints submitted by the petitioner in the original petition and five supplements, including 271 complaints related to the subject vehicles equipped with tipm-7. Approximately 3 percent of cas complaints are related to vehicles equipped with tipm-6 and odi’s review of these complaints did not identify any safety defect trends. Odi conducted a detailed review of complaints narratives submitted by cas and consumers including careful analysis of vehicle repair histories, warranty claims obtained from the manufacturer and any available customer assistance inquiry reports (cair). Analysis of the field data indicated that my2011-2013 jeep grand cherokee and dodge durango vehicles exhibited significantly higher complaint rates related to fuel pump relay (fpr) failures than other subject vehicles. In a september 3, 2014 letter to nhtsa, chrysler submitted a defect information report (dir) identifying a defect in the fpr within the tipm-7 which can result in a no start or stall condition in approximately 188,723 model year (my) 2011 jeep grand cherokee (wk) and dodge durango (wd) vehicles manufactured from january 5, 2010 through july 20, 2011 (14v-530).In a february 24, 2015 letter, chrysler submitted a second dir expanding the scope of the fpr defect condition to include an additional 338,216 my 2012 through 2013 jeep grand cherokee vehicles manufactured from september 17, 2010 through august 19, 2013 and my 2012 through 2013 dodge durango vehicles manufactured from january 18, 2011 through august 19, 2013 (15v-115).Odi analysis of the cas allegations of tipm defects resulting in stall while driving, airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration, fire and other faults identified a single defect condition related to 1 of over 60 different circuits in the tipm assembly. The most common effect of this defect condition, related to the fuel pump relay, was a no-start concern, but it could also result in stall while driving (76 complaints). No valid evidence was presented in support of claims related to airbag non-deployment, unintended acceleration or fire resulting from tipm faults and these claims were found to be wholly without merit based on review of the field data and design of the relevant systems and components.Except insofar as the petitioners contentions relate to the defect condition addressed by the chrysler recalls, the factual bases of the petitioners contentions that any further investigation is necessary are unsupported. In our view, additional investigation is unlikely to result in a finding that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists or a nhtsa order for the notification and remedy of a safety-related defect as alleged by the petitioner at the conclusion of the requested investigation. Therefore, in view of the need to allocate and prioritize nhtsas limited resources to best accomplish the agencys safety mission, the petition is denied. This action does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency will take further action if warranted by future circumstances. Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chrysler town & country. The contact stated that while stopped at a stop sign, a vehicle was t-boned by while in the middle of an intersection which propelled the vehicle into the contact's vehicle head on. The airbags did not deploy upon impact. The contact as well as the other drivers and passengers were checked out at the scene by paramedics and were treated for scrapes and bruises. The contact later sought treatment at an urgent care facility for pain to her lower back and both shoulder areas. A police was filed at scene. The contact and driver of the vehicle that was propelled into the contact both lived near the scene of the accident and were able to drive the vehicle to their respective homes. The other driver that caused the accident had to have their vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. An adjuster was called to the contact's home to assess the damage and the vehicle remained in the possession of the contact. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

I just bought this vehicle secondhand the indicators for vehicle to close are on the airbag light is on the seats don't go up and down as supposed to they just make a noise and both passenger and driver side rear doors don't open and the windows don't go up or down my vin number is [xxx]. Our tipm failed causing us not to be able to start the car we were told that the fuel pump was constantly running even though car was turned off...We paid a very large bill to get repaired and of course our warranty had expired...We felt there should have been a recall for this part...Our answer from chrysler was keep your receipt incase of a recall...This repair could have caused a fire if parked in our garage or anywhere...Should have been a recall...
