Mack Anthem 2020

• Recall 229221 [USA]: A vehicle that drifts out of its lane increases the risk of a crash.
  Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2018-2022 anthem (an), granite (gr/gu), and pinnacle (chu/cxu/pi) vehicles equipped with "camelback" rear suspension and electronic stability control. The vehicles may not stay in their lane at certain speeds. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 136, "electronic stability control systems on heavy vehicles."

• Recall 142864 [USA]: If the drag link separates, loss of steering control my occur, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2020 anthem (an), granite (gr), and pinnacle (pi) vehicles. The castle nuts and cotter pins used to connect the steering drag link to the pitman arm and steering arm may have not been correctly installed, potentially causing separation of the drag link.
  mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the drag link attachment points, repairing them, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began january 14, 2020. Owners may contact mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is sC0420.

• Recall 141173 [USA]: If the reflectors are blocked, the vehicle's visibility to other drivers may be reduced, increasing the risk of crash.
  Mack trucks, inc. (mack) is recalling certain 2020 anthem and pinnacle trucks. The conspicuity reflectors at the back of the cab may be blocked by the exhaust system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and assoc. Equipment."

• Recall 2021124 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  Issue: on certain trucks, when the manual override is used to switch off the daytime running lamps (drls), the lights may not turn on again when you start driving. Canadian regulations require that if drls are manually turned off, they must turn on again when you start driving. Safety risk: driving without daytime running lights could make the vehicle less visible to others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: mack will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the vehicle software.

• Recall 2020551 [Canada]: Structure
  Issue: on certain trucks, the welds that attach the trailer hitch may crack due to improper welding. As a result, the hitch could detach from the truck while towing a trailer. Note: this recall only affects certain trucks with trailer hitches installed by commercial truck equipment. Safety risk: a trailer that detaches from a truck could create a risk of a crash. Corrective actions: commercial truck equipment will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the trailer hitch and repair or replace it, as necessary. You should stop using the trailer hitch until the inspection and repair have been completed.

  Issue: on certain trucks, a nut and cotter pin in the steering system may not have been correctly installed. As a result, the drag link could separate and cause a loss of steering control. Safety risk: a loss of steering control would increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: mack will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the drag link attachment points. Trucks will be repaired as necessary.

  Issue: on certain vehicles, the down-view mirror may detach from the passenger’s door. Safety risk: a mirror that falls from the vehicle could strike another vehicle or pedestrian. This may create the risk of an injury or crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to secure the mirror. The dealer will add additional fasteners and a reinforcement plate as needed.

Also creates violations while on the road under section 393 as the driver and/ or road service vendor cannot service a part without returning to a dealer or stocking supplier. This is dangerous both in traveling and stationary positions.

Tl* the contact owns a 2020 mack anthem. The contact stated that each time the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle moved from side to side, the wheels would jump, and the hood attempted to open. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to nextran truck centers (2200 w landstreet rd, orlando, fl 32809, (407) 855-1200) where the drum, brake line, and brake adjustments were completed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the vehicle was taken on three different occasions to the same dealer for the same failure, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 12139296. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
