This vehicle is equipped with electronics stability control (esc) which includes crosswind assist. The crosswind assist is the source of the safety problem. The crosswind assist will engage in strong crosswinds and in certain road conditions such as a dip in the road or an off camber dip it immediately brake one side or the other causing the vehicle to quickly and unexpectedly lurch to one side or the other. I've experienced this multiple times and it has the potential for causing serious accidents. I communicated this complaint to my mercedes service tech. It is a known problem on both metris and sprinter vans. It cannot be disabled from esc. I was shocked to find out this has been reported to mercedes multiple times and there has been no corrective action. If this defect has not killed anyone yet (that we know of) it certainly will. Even though there are not that many merceds vans on the road in the us this problem is very serious and needs to be addressed quickly. Please update me on this problem as soon as possible. I am very uncomfortable driving this vehicle in its current condition.
