The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
    toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly with an improved one, free of charge. Owners of specific models were notified that remedy parts were available starting january 21, 2021. Owners of other models will be notified as remedy parts become available. Remedy parts should be available for all affected vehicles by late march 2021. Owners may contact toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987.   • Recall 150635 [USA]: In the event of a crash, air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners that do not deploy as intended may increase the risk of injury.
    Toyota motor engineering & manufacturing (toyota) is recalling certain 2011-2019 corolla, 2011-2013 matrix, 2012-2018 avalon, and 2013-2018 avalon hybrid vehicles. During certain crashes, the air bag electronic control unit (ecu) may malfunction, possibly disabling the deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.
    toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the ecu and install a noise filter between the air bag control module and its wire harness, as necessary, free of charge. Owners were notified of the safety risk beginning march 2, 2020. A second letter notifying owners of the remedy repair will be mailed between march 16, 2020 and june 27, 2020. On march 4, 2020, toyota expanded the recall to include certain 2014-2015 toyota 4runner and land cruiser, 2018 avalon, corolla, 2014 fj cruiser, 2017 sienna and lexus 2018 es 350, 2018-2019 gs 300, 2013-2014 gs350, 2014-2015 gx 460, is 350 and lx 570, 2014 is f, 2018-2019 is 350, lc 500h and ls 500h, 2013-2015 ls 460, 2015 nx 200t and rc350, 2017 rc 200t and rx 350.     Southeast toyota distributors, llc (set) is recalling certain 2017-2019 toyota camry, corolla, rav4, sienna, and yaris ia vehicles equipped with factory-installed floor mats. The load carrying capacity modification label may be incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 110, "tire selection and rims."

    Issue: on certain vehicles, the circuits within the airbag control module could be damaged in a crash. This could cause the airbags and seat belt pretensioners to not deploy in certain crashes. Safety risk: airbags or seat belts that do not work properly in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective actions: toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install an electrical noise filter to prevent damage to the airbag control module.

  • Recall 2018712 [Canada]: Powertrain
    On certain corolla hatchback models, the torque converter for the continuously variable transmission (cvt) may have not been properly assembled. If the vehicle were operated frequently under higher load conditions, such as under rapid acceleration from a low speed, the torque converter could fail. This may result in a loss of motive power, and create an increased the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the transmission and torque converter.

  • Recall 2021723 [Canada]: Accessories
    Issue: this recall is for certain block heater kits installed on certain vehicles or sold as accessories at toyota or lexus dealerships. On certain vehicles, the engine block heater cable may not have enough heat protection and could be damaged by high temperatures. If this happens, the cable could short circuit while plugged in, and cause the wiring to overheat or melt.   • Air bag acu electrical overstress investigation as of 20190419

    The office of defects investigation (odi) is expanding the investigation to include the equipment supplier and vehicle manufacturers (oems) using this unit.The investigation focuses on acus manufactured by trw, now zf-trw (zf) , the tier-one supplier to hyundai and kia and the other affected oems.The acu senses a vehicle crash to determine whether air bag deployment is required, and if so, deploys the appropriate air bags and other supplemental restraints.Zf supplied subject acus to six oems: fca, honda, hyundai, kia, mitsubishi and toyota.Internal to the acu is an electronic component (an application specific integrated circuit, or asic) that monitors signals from crash sensors.A failure of the asic may prevent deployment of the required air bags and devices, or may otherwise affect the proper operation of the acu.The acu is located in the passenger compartment, and electrical wiring connects the asic to sensors located at the front of the vehicle.Odi’s current understanding is that a crash event may, in and of itself, produce harmful signals on the sensor wiring capable of damaging the asic, although the probability of this occurring appears to be low.While the acu incorporates electrical circuitry intended to protect the asic from harmful signals, the level and effectiveness of the protective circuitry varies by oem customer.During pe18-003, hyundai and kia filed recalls (18v-137 and 18v-363 respectively) to address a defect that could result in acu disablement and non-deployments.According to the filings, the disablement occurs in certain types of frontal crash events.Both filings discussed a condition known as electrical overstress (eos) that affected the subject asic and was likely caused by electrical signals that entered the acu via sensor wiring.The recalled vehicles used acus that had the lowest levels of asic protection while non-recalled hyundai and kia products using subject acus had higher levels of protection.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled kia and hyundai populations.In september 2016, fca filed recall 16v-668 for certain model year (my) 2010 to 2014 chrysler, dodge and jeep products also manufactured with the subject acu.In that filing, fca also discussed an eos condition that resulted in a failure of the subject asic, which caused air bag non-deployment. Fca noted that the defect condition had only been observed in vehicles equipped with sensor harnessing routed across the front of the vehicle.Other fca vehicles that also used the subject acu, but not the cross-car harnessing, had not experienced eos failures, despite similar time in service. The recalled fca vehicles used a mid-level form of asic protection.Other fca vehicles that did not use cross car wiring, or used higher levels of asic protection, have not been recalled.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled fca population.Recently, odi has identified two substantial frontal crash events (one fatal) involving toyota products where eos is suspected as the likely cause of the non-deployments.The crashes involved a my 2018 and a my 2019 corolla equipped with the subject acu that incorporated higher levels of asic protection.Additionally, both acus were found to be non-communicative (meaning the acu could not be read with an event data recorder) after the crash, a condition found in other cases where eos occurred with other oems.No other eos events have been identified for other toyota products (including corolla models that used the subject acu since my 2011), or for the honda and mitsubishi vehicles that use the subject acu.Odi plans to evaluate the susceptibility of the subject acu designs to electrical signals, as well as other vehicle factors that can either lead to, or reduce the likelihood of, an eos event.Additionally, odi will evaluate whether an unreasonable risk exists that requires further field action.

Our vehicle steering wheel will get stuck every morning for about 10 to 15 seconds. It will also get hard to turn when driving which turns into a safety issue as my wife is driving on the freeway with our 6 year old child. We took to the local toyota dealership the first time and they replace the car main battery. We brought the car back the day after with the same issue and the call us to inform that they had removed the steering wheel cover and the car was ok ( it sounds like a joke but its not). We showed to car to the toyota service department manager and he said it was ok for the steering wheel to be stuck every time you turn the car on because the car is not brand new anymore ( the car is 2019 and has 30k miles and still under warranty. The manager dismiss my wife and told her to pick up the car even with the safety concern exposed.

There is a severe safety issue with the cruise control. In reading corolla on-line forums, it appears that it has been a toyota problem for quite some time ' not something specific to my vehicle alone. The first couple of times i had to take it off cruise - as it wasn't safe in any way. The last time i set it well below the desired speed with no other vehicles in view so that i could try to allow it to run its complete cycle. I wanted to see exactly what would happen if allowed to run its course. When i set the cruise control, it sets fine. Then, when i go down a very slight downhill, the engine revs wildly up to 4000 rpm, hangs there for a long while and pulls the car up well over the set speed. Then it drops, inexplicably, to approx. 3000 rpm, hangs for a bit, and then drops down to where it should be - approximately 1000 -1500 rpm and the speed goes back to normal. What good is a cruise control if you need to babysit it? You shouldn't have to take it off because it's accelerating rapidly out of control! I read someone's account of their car accelerating until they came up behind someone else, the car brakes came on, and they were nearly rear-ended by the person behind them because of the sudden braking. It sounds like a ticking time bomb!

There are times when i'm at a stop and put in first gear and go the clutch vibrates and a i get almost like a growling or chattering coming from transmission. My clutch tends to act up more in the city. It almost seems like if the concentric slave cylinder is going out.

I had just cleared the last overpass and was on the flat road when the motor ran up to 4000 rpm with no speed increase. The cruse was still set at 60 mph. . The car bumped and the the rpm. I didn't know what was happening and my car was slowly stopping on its own accord. Luckily i was able to get off on the nearby exit, my car slowing by itself as i drove. As i turned in to go to a gas station, my car stopped on its own completely, even when i tried to push on the gas. I turned the car off and waited about 5 minutes. After that time, i was able to start it up and my car turned on and no alert lights were on.I i was then able to drive on back roads to my house, with no further issues. I drove my car to get gas on november 24, 2019. After i got full tank of gas, i cannot start the engine. The engine would make a noice like coughing, and whole car would shake, all the electric (lights, meter, music) would be on, but the engine would go back to 'dead'. On the display screen, it would show the 'battery' warning icon. I immediately tried jumpstart, but i still cannot start my vehicle so it's not simply a batteries problem. (actually, i think the battery itself has no problem.) the dealership was not in service on sunday, so i have to paid to get my car towed at the night- drop. Before the guy towed my vehicle away, he tried to start my vehicle again and it cannot be start. On monday morning the dealership examine in the vehicle but they claim they found nothing wrong. All the test come clean and they wanted me to come and take my vehicle. But when the technician was about to get my car, he himself cannot start a vehicle again or it takes a long time for the vehicle to start. So they keep the car three more days to test but today they called me, and still telling me the vehicle has no problem. The car clearly has some problem! And actually this is the second time that it happened. The first time happened when i parked my car at my office buildings parking lot, and at night after work i cannot start the engine. Same problem. That time i wait for two minutes and i can start the car back on again. But the same problem did exist before, and it has a recurring problem. I'm now very worried about my car, i fear that the same problem would happen again, and i don't feel safe driving it.

Note: this is for the 2019 corolla hatchback, not the sedan. It would apply to 2020 corolla sedans as well, though, but not 2019 sedans. The hood over the instrument cluster is not large enough to sufficiently prevent glare on the instrument cluster, making the gauges difficult to read. See attached images, one showing the full glare, one using my hand to extend the "hood" of the gauge cluster and provide shade for the right half. Happens in motion or when stationary, completely dependent upon direction of the car and time of day.

The shadow is an inverted triangular shape that hangs from the top side in front of the driver's side projection. On march 2, 2019 i purchased a brand new 2019 toyota hatchback from toyota of richardson. After only owning the car for 3 weeks i received a notice from my vehicle's alert system that there was a safety recall on it. I was never told this by the auto dealer or by toyota. The recall was due to an error with the manufacturing of the vehicle. In researching this, i found that in december of 2018 this recall was publicized on the world wide web and with nhtsa. The torque converters is defective and could cause a crash when the car has rapid acceleration. The vehicle could suddenly lose power while driving. My daughter, who is the co-owner of this vehicle, is the primary driver. She has 4 children, in which one is handicapped. She and her children has been at risk when driving and/or riding in this vehicle since the purchase date. So, for 3 weeks my family was at risk of having an auto accident due to a manufacturer's default in which a recall was issued 3 month prior to the purchase of this vehicle! Yet the dealer did not take the time to fix this problem prior to our purchase. This is ridiculous!!

After driving the car for weeks, i discovered the recall online, and ended up in a loaner. The owner's manual shows a location for lifting the vehicle in the front using a floor jack (page 427). This location is not present on my vehicle and this was confirmed by a toyota dealership. This could lead to someone using another improper location to lift the vehicle which could cause an injury to a person if the vehicle slips off the jack or damage to the vehicle. The missing part is also referenced on page 475 as a location to tow the vehicle by. Again, since this location is missing, someone could tow the vehicle by a spot not design to be towed by. For example if i have it set at 65 mph it will accelerate to 75-80 mph on it's own. I brought the vehicle in for this twice now and toyota can not figure out why it is happening. The rpm's will get up to 4000 and once the vehicle is leveled out again on a flat route it hard breaks to slow the vehicle down.
