• Recall 107474 [USA]: Failure of the ball joint may cause separation of the socket and a complete loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Volvo trucks north america (volvo) is recalling certain model year 2009-2015 volvo vn trucks manufactured april 14, 2008, to december 23, 2014. The affected vehicles may experience corrosion of the ball joints due to the seals being compromised, possibly resulting in accelerated wear and failure of the ball joint.
  volvo will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the drag links, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Volvo issued an interim notification to owners on october 28, 2015. Replacement parts are now available. Notices to owners were mailed on march 1, 2016. Owners may contact volvo customer service at 1-877-800-4945 option #1. • Recall 90810 [USA]: In the event of a crash, an insufficient seat belt weld may prevent the seat belt from properly restraining the occupant. this increases the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
  Volvo is recalling certain model year 2002-2013 vhd and vn trucks, manufactured from august 4, 2000, through june 22, 2012, and equipped with bench passenger seats. The seat belt d-ring weld may not be sufficient enough to meet the seat belt pull test. Therefore, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 210, "seat belt assembly anchorages."

• Recall 2015466 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles, a defect in the the ball joint seals on the drag link could allow corrosion to form in the joint, leading to accelerated wear. This could result in ball joint failure, potentially resulting in a loss of steering control which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the drag link on affected vehicles. Those found to be loose will be replaced immediately. Drag links found to be still serviceable will be replaced when sufficient replacement parts become available.

• Recall 2012356 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  Certain vehicles may fail to conform to canada motor vehicle safety standard 210 – seatbelt assembly anchorages. The weld used to secure the nut to the center-passenger seatbelt d-ring mounting bracket may not be sufficient to meet the strength requirements of the standard. Failure of the seatbelt d-ring anchorage to restrain the occupant would increase the risk of personal injury during a crash. Correction: dealers will replace the d-ring for the middle seating position.

  During a review of volvo trucks (volvo) 2016, 4th quarter ewr field report submissions, odi discovered, multiple communications that had not been submitted to the agency under cfr 579.5 ewr reporting requirements.Also, during a review of the nova lfs transit bus (a subsidiary of the volvo group) recall 17v-323 odi became concerned volvo may not have acted with appropriate speed in making a defect determination and filing the recall with the agency.Based on a review of these issues with volvo, their compliance office agreed to conduct an internal audit of all required reporting and found the following:1.Various forms of communications including, service bulletins, tech tips, case base reasoning reports and other data were not submitted.2.Reporting of some death and injury reports (d&i) had been overlooked and not submittedthis investigation will examine whether volvo acted in conformance with its responsibilities under the safety act.
