• Recall 249006 [USA]: Loose or broken vanos unit bolts can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Bmw of north america, llc (bmw) is recalling certain 2010-2012 1 series coupe, 1 series convertible, 3 series sedan, 3 series convertible, 2010-2011 3 series sportswagon, 3 series coupe, 5 series sedan, x3 xdrive 28i, x3 xdrive 30i, x5 xdrive30i, and z4 sdrive30i vehicles. The aluminum bolts that secure the housing for the variable camshaft timing adjustment (vanos) unit can loosen over time and possibly break.
  dealers will replace the four vanos bolts, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed december 18, 2023. Second letters will be mailed once the remedy is available. Owners may contact bmw customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

  On certain vehicles, the wires going to the in-tank fuel pump may not have been crimped correctly. An incorrect crimp could increase the resistance of the circuit which could cause the contact pin to heat and melt the surrounding plastic. This could potentially cause the fuel pump to stop working causing the vehicle to stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Also, in a very rare case, a fuel leak combined with an external ignition source, could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake booster and master cylinder. • Recall 2010114 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  On certain x5 m vehicles, the front side marker lamps are not illuminated as required by the canada motor vehicle safety standard 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. These vehicles were equipped with front side marker lamps, but not with the power supply cables leading to the lamps. As a result, the front side marker lamps do not illuminate. Reduced visibility increases the risk of crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: dealers will install power supply cables for the front side marker lamps.

• Recall 2022095 [Canada]: Engine
  Issue: on certain vehicles equipped with an n52 or n52k 6-cylinder engine, a manufacturing problem could cause the pcv valve heater (blow-by heater) to short circuit and overheat. Note: this replaces transport canada recalls 2017-470 and 2019-170. Only vehicles equipped with an n52 or n52k engine require this repair. Safety risk: an overheated engine pcv valve heater could create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective actions: bmw will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. Bmw recommends that you should park your vehicle outdoors, until the recall repairs have been completed.

• Idler pulley bolt failure investigation # RQ18001

  In a may 23, 2018 letter, bmw of north america, llc (bmw) notified the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa) of a safety defect that may result in the loss of power steering assist in certain model year (my) 2009 through 2013 bmw x5 xdrive35d vehicles (recall 18v-336). The recall, which affects approximately 33,214 vehicles built from march 12, 2008 through june 27, 2013, corrects the remedy and expands the scope of a prior bmw recall (12v-550) which addressed idle pulley bolt failure in approximately 29,800 my 2009 through 2012 bmw x5 xdrive35d vehicles built from september 1, 2008 through november 15, 2012. Bmws analysis indicates that due to a number of contributing factors it is possible that the bolts pre-stressing force could drop to an extent that it results in the bolt becoming loosened over time. A loosening of the bolt could cause additional bending stress on top of the bolt. As a result, the bolt could break. If this were to happen, then a sudden loss of power steering assist could occur.If there were a loss of power steering assist, manual steering capability would be retained, although the effort required to steer the vehicle would be greater, and therefore may increase the risk of crash.Odis analysis of the complaints it has received from the public (voqs) and bmw complaint data submitted in response to the information request letter for rq18-001 identified a total of 93 unique vin reports alleging failure of the idler pulley bolt after recall 12v-550 was completed on the vehicle, including 31 voqs and 72 bmw consumer complaints (5 complaints received by nhtsa and bmw, 3 unique vins submitted multiple complaints to bmw, and 1 unique vin submitted multiple complaints to nhtsa).Bmw is developing a new idler pulley fastening system as the remedy for 18v-336.The remedy is planned to begin in february 2019.Based on bmws safety recall, this recall query is closed.The 31 voqs referenced in this resume are: 10499780, 10559422, 10579534, 10655424, 10661614, 10702323, 10819617, 10903433, 10948014, 10984353, 11002447, 11010667, 11013643, 11041551, 11054759, 11054909, 11066063, 11083479, 11097562, 11098865, 11113332, 11128649, 11130277, 10552773, 10817406, 10937632, 10956710, 11032006, 11042259, 11063010, 11091513.

Front passenger seat occupancy mat (oc3) problem safety code. Supplemental restraint system (srs/air bag system) i contacted bmw of north america and they stated my 2010 bmw x5 is to old, one way to look at it. I requested assistance and bmw will not help out. I am the original owner and my vehicle is garage kept. This air bag will not deploy and the passenger could be killed and or injured in a accident.

While driving a short distance at low speeds through a city, a yellow warning message came onto the screen, alerting me that the vehicle was overheating and to drive carefully. Only seconds later a second warning message came onto the screen, this time red, telling me that the engine has overheated and i need to stop driving immediately. As i slowed i could hear a loud fan noise and began to smell burning plastic. I immediately contacted a technician to schedule a repair. I was told it is a very common problem with the coolant pump, and upon further investigation, i discovered that it has led to very costly repairs on top of potentially dangerous situations. I even discovered that there may be a class action lawsuit for the faulty parts, and in some models have been recalled. I contacted bmw directly and they told me my vehicle was not eligible for any extended warranty or recall. *tr

My valve cover and crankcase are manufactured bad the crankcase it's cracked and licking, which it damage my valve covers, my car was driving good all of the sudden it doesn't drive smooth

I call next day (dealership) and the dealership no want check my car again only say i fix the part state say need fix. Say my car need more piece for fix the problem on air bag and that is not true. And say i need go another dealer iam not happy for that service. My car , carfax, and here (nhtsa) continue say no repair the recalls issue . I send email that dealer ship and no recieved answer.
