• Recall 136894 [USA]: The excessive vaccuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2012-2018 ford focus vehicles with a 2.0l gdi or 2.0l gtdi engine. The canister purge valve (cpv) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system.
  ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the cpv as needed. If the cpv is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began august 19, 2019. • Recall 140235 [USA]: A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 ford fusion vehicles equipped with a 1.6l gtdi engine and 6-speed manual transmission and 2015-2016 ford focus vehicles equipped with a 1.0l gtdi engine and 6-speed manual transmission. Also included are four 2017 ford focus vehicles that had clutch replacements with potentially affected parts. The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak.

  Affected vehicles fitted with a 1.0 1.5 or 1.6 ecoboost engine and 6-speed manual transmission could suffer clutch pressure plate fracture. This results in clutch smell reduced vehicle speed and performance. In the unlikely event of clutch pressure plate fracture a noise (thud / bang) could be heard from the vicinity of the transmission in extreme cases resulting in clutch / transmission fragments being released and striking under hood components creating a risk of smoke and fire from the under hood area.
  to prevent the repeated heating /cooling events a new calibration has been developed for vehicles fitted with engine stop start feature. The software with the additional feature sets the instrument panel ?Wrench light? And de-rates the engine performance if prolonged clutch slip is detected. The software feature includes a drive cycle strategy for latching the wrench light and engine performance de-rate if the customer should experience repeated clutch slip events. For vehicles that do not have engine stop start feature an alternative clutch kit has been released.

  On certain vehicles, the canister purge valve (cpv) may stick open and cause excessive vacuum in the fuel system that could deform the fuel tank. If this were to occur, it could cause: a malfunction indicator light (mil) to illuminate, erratic readings on the fuel gauge, and/or the engine may stall. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module (pcm) with new software and replace the cpv as necessary. If the cpv is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. Note: in the interim, owners are advised to maintain at least 1/2 tank of fuel until the recall repair is performed.

  On certain vehicles equipped with 1.0l gtdi or 1.6l gtdi engines and manual transmissions, repeated high energy clutch slip can lead to premature clutch lining wear, reducing the mechanical properties of pressure plate material. Prolonged use, with a slipping clutch, could result in pressure plate fracture, which could cause breach of the clutch cover and transmission housing, potentially leading to a transmission fluid leak. A transmission fluid leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a fire. Correction: dealers will evaluate the clutch for wear and replace as needed and will install updated software that will detect and prevent prolonged clutch slip. For the fusion model, dealers will replace the clutch assembly.

  On certain vehicles, the pawl spring tab in the side door latch could break. This condition typically will prevent the door from latching. In certain situations where the door is able to be closed, the door may be partially latched and could unlatch while driving. This could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: if a door will not latch, dealers will replace all four door latches with a more robust part. Note: a door that is partially latched can cause the courtesy light to remain on, set a door ajar message in the instrument cluster and sound a door ajar chime to alert the driver that there is a door latch problem.

  On certain focus electric vehicles, there may be increased friction and excessive wear of the differential pinion gear shaft due to an error in manufacturing. This could result in localized overheating and eventual fracture of the pinion shaft or pinion gears, which would result in a loss of motive power while driving and loss of the transmission park function without warning, which could allow the vehicle to roll away while in park, increasing the risk of injury and/or property damage.   Certain vehicles may fail to conform to canada motor vehicle safety standard (cmvss) 114 - theft protection and rollaway prevention. It may be possible for the engine to continue to run after turning the ignition key to the "off" position and removing the key (vehicles with standard ignition keys), or after pressing the engine start/stop button (vehicles with push-button start and intelligent access keys), which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. • Loss of motive power investigation # RQ23006

  On october 4th, 2018, ford motor company (ford) issued a safety recall (nhtsa recall 18v-735) on 1,282,596 model year (my) 2012-2018 ford focus vehicles with 2.0l gasoline direct injection (gdi) engines built prior to april 13th, 2017 and with 2.0l gasoline turbocharged direct injection (gtdi) engines built prior to february 2nd, 2018. This recall addressed engines that were experiencing a malfunctioning canister purge valve (cpv) and powertrain control module (pcm) software that was not adequately detecting a stuck open cpv. A malfunctioning cpv can disrupt the engines fuel to air ratio leading to loss of motive power. It can also cause a malfunction indicator light (mil), erratic fuel gauge readings, and excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system potentially deforming the fuel tank. The office of defects investigation (odi) has opened this recall query (rq) after receiving 98 consumer complaints alleging cpv failure in my 2012-2018 ford focus vehicles (subject vehicles) that were either included in recall 18v-735 and remedied prior to the reported incidents or were not included in recall 18v-735 but experienced the same failure as the affected vehicles. The remedy in this recall was an inspection of the cpv and fuel tank with replacement if found defective at the time of the inspection. The remedy also included a software update to the pcm meant to enable a check of the cpvs position prior to initiating an evaporative leak monitor check to reduce the occurrences of deformed fuel tanks. Following recall 18v-735, ford issued another safety recall (nhtsa recall 19v-515) that included updates to the pcm software. The affected population were vehicles included in recall 18v-735 that had already had the recall remedy implemented. Affected vehicles did not have the pcm updated with new software meant to detect a malfunctioning cpv. This investigation has been opened to assess the scope and remedy of recall 18v-735. • Door latch failures investigation # RQ19005

  In december 2019, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened this investigation based on 235 vehicle owner questionnaires (voqs) alleging doors failed to latch when closed, and/or inadvertently opened while driving, on model year (my) 2012-2014 ford fiesta, and 2013-2014 fusion and lincoln mkz. Some voqs reported the failure occurred after the latch had been remedied under a prior recall which involved fracture of the latch pawl spring tab due to thermally induced cyclic fatigue. Other voqs alleged a similar failure in vehicles not previously recalled. A latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a ?Door will not close? Condition, however in certain somewhat rare circumstances, may result in the door coming open while driving. In response to odi?S investigation, ford has announced three field actions, as discussed below.On march 23, 2020, ford submitted safety recall 20v-177 (ford 20s15), a regional recall campaign to address door latch failures in vehicles not previously recalled under safety recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 and 17v-210. The recall affects vehicles currently or ever registered in certain high ambient temperature states (see 20v-177 for affected states). As a remedy, ford will replace all four door latches free of charge.On august 24, 2020, ford issued a non-safety regional field action (ford 20r01) to address door latch failures on the same model/my vehicles not covered under 20v-177 (i.E., not currently/ever registered in affected states). According to ford, spring tab failure rates for vehicles covered by this action are about half that of the 20v-177 vehicles. Under this action, dealers will replace all door latches, free of charge, if either; a) the vehicle exhibits a related latch concern, or b) if the vehicle owner expresses a concern about the latches in their vehicles. Details can be found under nhtsa tsb no. 10190990, a copy of which is available in this investigative file available at nhtsa.Gov.On june 8, 2020, ford submitted safety recall 20v-331 (ford 20s30) addressing vehicles previously remedied under nhtsa recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 and 17v-210, where the repair may not have been properly completed, specifically not all of the door latches were replaced, or replaced correctly. This recall involves an inspection of the latches, with the option for a consumer self-inspection; owners could view the date codes on their latches (and confirm child safety locks are present on the rear doors) and then submit the information to ford?S mobile app or website. A dealership inspection option was also available. Any vehicle found to have unreplaced defective latches requires the replacement of all door latches as directed by ford.Regarding the 4,494 reports cited above, 1,485 involve scope-related failures (with 13% alleging door opening), and the remaining 3,009 reports involving remedy concerns (with 18% alleging door opening - note odi was unable to verify the allegations of door opening). The three odi injuries were all relatively minor. Ford?S reported injury incidences include one (unconfirmed) report of an ejection, three minor injuries with the others involving undisclosed injuries. Ford?S crashes involved two (unconfirmed) crashes alleging the incident door contacted another vehicle and three involving doors striking other property.The recalled vehicles include my 2011-2015 ford fiesta, 2013-2016 ford fusion and lincoln mkz, 2015 ford mustang and lincoln mkc, 2013-2015 ford escape and ford c-max, 2012-2015 ford focus and 2014-2016 ford transit connect.Fords actions address odis concerns at this time. Faulty cannister purge valve causing rough idle, stalling. Code P1450. Dealership has "fulfilled" recall requirement by re-flashing the ecu, without our knowledge or permission. Now that part is actually failing, they will not fix under the recall. This is a known problem and they try to "fix" is for free while its still working so they can make money off it later.

I hit a deer, lost control of my vehicle and rolled it twice. None of my air bags deployed and my 911 assist never dialed 911.

The contact owns a 2015 ford focus. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the steering box started making a grinding sound. The vehicle became difficult to steer. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated he was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer and it was diagnosed with the steering box needing to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was 72,254.

The contact owns a 2015 ford focus. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the check engine warning light was illuminated and the rpm started to rise. The contact also stated it the vehicle was rough when shifting gears. The contact was able to drive to his residence. The contact called a local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

Car shifts bad then makes noise and light comes on for engine so park car shut it off wait a few mins and crank again but it won't go still

On multiple occasions, the transmission will shudder. This shudder occurs between 1st and 2nd and/or 2nd and 3rd gears. A few times, while driving in the snow, after some tire spinning or sliding, the transmission either slipped from a high gear or froze while driving on the highway at highway speeds. I have been told by ford and the dealer that the clutch system has already been replaced under the recall and i would now need to pay for repair. Along with the clutch recall, there was also a recall on the software component, and i don't believe that has been replaced. There are no warning lamps or messages with this malfunction

- power steering system, steering assembly - the power steering stopped working suddenly - yes, both a ford dealer and an independent mechanic saw the failure code on the computer - steering fault light flashes on the dashboard at the same time as the issue happens

Upon entering interstate highway 66, my car started jerking and the rpm gage was fluctuating and loosing power. A tractor trailer swerved and blew the horn. My car shut off on me in the right lane. I was able to restart and drive toward the shoulder and a warning light states “transmission overheating stop safely”. I took it to my certified mechanic and it read code P0460. When he lift the car, the gas tank is sunk in. Back in summer 2019 there was a recall on the “purge valve” and we notified them in 2020 that the car stared jerking and acting like it wanted to shut off. Again the code #P0460 same part and they said the warranty on the valve expired they can not reopen the recall. Now my gas tank is caved in and the car is stalling out on the highway getting worse. Ford motor company keeps brushing us off and not concerned about the safety of their vehicle.
