• Recall 149243 [USA]: A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 fiesta, 2013-2014 fusion, 2015 mustang, 2013-2015 escape and c-max, 2012-2015 focus, 2014-2016 transit connect, 2013-2014 lincoln mkz, and 2015 mkc vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 or 17v-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
  ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. • Recall 136892 [USA]: The excessive vaccuum may result in an engine stall while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2012-2018 ford focus vehicles with a 2.0l gdi or 2.0l gtdi engine. The canister purge valve (cpv) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system.
  ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module. Dealers will also check for fault codes and replace the cpv as needed. If the cpv is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary. The recall began august 19, 2019. • Recall 140268 [USA]: An overheated cord can increase the risk of a fire.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 120v convenience charge cords that were supplied with and sold for use with 2013-2015 ford c-max energi and fusion energi vehicles and 2012-2015 ford focus electric vehicles. Cords with part numbers fm58-10b706-aa, fm58-10b706-ab, fm58-10b706-ac, fm58-10b706-ad, fm58-10b706-ae and fm58-10b706-af were manufactured without thermistors, and during vehicle charging, increased resistance in the house's outlet or wiring can cause the cord to overheat and melt.

• Recall 140233 [USA]: A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.
  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2013-2014 ford fusion vehicles equipped with a 1.6l gtdi engine and 6-speed manual transmission and 2015-2016 ford focus vehicles equipped with a 1.0l gtdi engine and 6-speed manual transmission. Also included are four 2017 ford focus vehicles that had clutch replacements with potentially affected parts. The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak.

  Affected vehicles fitted with a 1.0 1.5 or 1.6 ecoboost engine and 6-speed manual transmission could suffer clutch pressure plate fracture. This results in clutch smell reduced vehicle speed and performance. In the unlikely event of clutch pressure plate fracture a noise (thud / bang) could be heard from the vicinity of the transmission in extreme cases resulting in clutch / transmission fragments being released and striking under hood components creating a risk of smoke and fire from the under hood area.
  to prevent the repeated heating /cooling events a new calibration has been developed for vehicles fitted with engine stop start feature. The software with the additional feature sets the instrument panel ?Wrench light? And de-rates the engine performance if prolonged clutch slip is detected. The software feature includes a drive cycle strategy for latching the wrench light and engine performance de-rate if the customer should experience repeated clutch slip events. For vehicles that do not have engine stop start feature an alternative clutch kit has been released.

  On certain vehicles, the canister purge valve (cpv) may stick open and cause excessive vacuum in the fuel system that could deform the fuel tank. If this were to occur, it could cause: a malfunction indicator light (mil) to illuminate, erratic readings on the fuel gauge, and/or the engine may stall. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module (pcm) with new software and replace the cpv as necessary. If the cpv is replaced, dealers will inspect and replace the carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module as necessary.   On certain vehicles equipped with 1.0l gtdi or 1.6l gtdi engines and manual transmissions, repeated high energy clutch slip can lead to premature clutch lining wear, reducing the mechanical properties of pressure plate material. Prolonged use, with a slipping clutch, could result in pressure plate fracture, which could cause breach of the clutch cover and transmission housing, potentially leading to a transmission fluid leak. A transmission fluid leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a fire. Correction: dealers will evaluate the clutch for wear and replace as needed and will install updated software that will detect and prevent prolonged clutch slip. For the fusion model, dealers will replace the clutch assembly.

  Certain vehicles equipped with manual transmissions fail to conform to canada motor vehicle safety standard (cmvss) 206 – door lock and door retention components. The rear hatchback can be unlocked and unlatched with a single press of the interior latch release control button while the vehicle is in motion (less than 7 km/h), which is contrary to the requirements of the standard.   On certain vehicles, the pawl spring tab in the side door latch could break. This condition typically will prevent the door from latching. In certain situations where the door is able to be closed, the door may be partially latched and could unlatch while driving. This could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: if a door will not latch, dealers will replace all four door latches with a more robust part. Note: a door that is partially latched can cause the courtesy light to remain on, set a door ajar message in the instrument cluster and sound a door ajar chime to alert the driver that there is a door latch problem.

• Loss of motive power investigation # RQ23006

  On october 4th, 2018, ford motor company (ford) issued a safety recall (nhtsa recall 18v-735) on 1,282,596 model year (my) 2012-2018 ford focus vehicles with 2.0l gasoline direct injection (gdi) engines built prior to april 13th, 2017 and with 2.0l gasoline turbocharged direct injection (gtdi) engines built prior to february 2nd, 2018. This recall addressed engines that were experiencing a malfunctioning canister purge valve (cpv) and powertrain control module (pcm) software that was not adequately detecting a stuck open cpv. A malfunctioning cpv can disrupt the engines fuel to air ratio leading to loss of motive power. It can also cause a malfunction indicator light (mil), erratic fuel gauge readings, and excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system potentially deforming the fuel tank. The office of defects investigation (odi) has opened this recall query (rq) after receiving 98 consumer complaints alleging cpv failure in my 2012-2018 ford focus vehicles (subject vehicles) that were either included in recall 18v-735 and remedied prior to the reported incidents or were not included in recall 18v-735 but experienced the same failure as the affected vehicles. The remedy in this recall was an inspection of the cpv and fuel tank with replacement if found defective at the time of the inspection. The remedy also included a software update to the pcm meant to enable a check of the cpvs position prior to initiating an evaporative leak monitor check to reduce the occurrences of deformed fuel tanks. Following recall 18v-735, ford issued another safety recall (nhtsa recall 19v-515) that included updates to the pcm software. The affected population were vehicles included in recall 18v-735 that had already had the recall remedy implemented. Affected vehicles did not have the pcm updated with new software meant to detect a malfunctioning cpv. This investigation has been opened to assess the scope and remedy of recall 18v-735.   Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072. Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.On january 27, 2023, nhtsa opened defect petition (dp) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On june 24, 2023 and as supplemented on june 25, 2023, the petitioner notified nhtsa he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioners withdrawal, dp22-005 is closed. Closure of this dp does not represent a determination by nhtsa regarding the subject matter of the petition.

Faulty cannister purge valve causing rough idle, stalling. Code P1450. Dealership has "fulfilled" recall requirement by re-flashing the ecu, without our knowledge or permission. Now that part is actually failing, they will not fix under the recall. This is a known problem and they try to "fix" is for free while its still working so they can make money off it later.

I hit a deer, lost control of my vehicle and rolled it twice. None of my air bags deployed and my 911 assist never dialed 911.

The contact owns a 2015 ford focus. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the steering box started making a grinding sound. The vehicle became difficult to steer. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated he was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer and it was diagnosed with the steering box needing to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was 72,254.

The contact owns a 2015 ford focus. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the check engine warning light was illuminated and the rpm started to rise. The contact also stated it the vehicle was rough when shifting gears. The contact was able to drive to his residence. The contact called a local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

Car shifts bad then makes noise and light comes on for engine so park car shut it off wait a few mins and crank again but it won't go still

On multiple occasions, the transmission will shudder. This shudder occurs between 1st and 2nd and/or 2nd and 3rd gears. A few times, while driving in the snow, after some tire spinning or sliding, the transmission either slipped from a high gear or froze while driving on the highway at highway speeds. I have been told by ford and the dealer that the clutch system has already been replaced under the recall and i would now need to pay for repair. Along with the clutch recall, there was also a recall on the software component, and i don't believe that has been replaced. There are no warning lamps or messages with this malfunction

- power steering system, steering assembly - the power steering stopped working suddenly - yes, both a ford dealer and an independent mechanic saw the failure code on the computer - steering fault light flashes on the dashboard at the same time as the issue happens

Upon entering interstate highway 66, my car started jerking and the rpm gage was fluctuating and loosing power. A tractor trailer swerved and blew the horn. My car shut off on me in the right lane. I was able to restart and drive toward the shoulder and a warning light states “transmission overheating stop safely”. I took it to my certified mechanic and it read code P0460. When he lift the car, the gas tank is sunk in. Back in summer 2019 there was a recall on the “purge valve” and we notified them in 2020 that the car stared jerking and acting like it wanted to shut off. Again the code #P0460 same part and they said the warranty on the valve expired they can not reopen the recall. Now my gas tank is caved in and the car is stalling out on the highway getting worse. Ford motor company keeps brushing us off and not concerned about the safety of their vehicle.
