Toyota Venza Hybrid 2021

• Recall 211662 [USA]: Driving with a deactivated stability control system increases the risk of a crash.
  Toyota engineering & manufacturing (toyota) is recalling certain 2022 lexus lx 600, lexus nx 350h, lexus nx 450h+, toytoa rav4 hybrid, 2021-2022 lexus ls 500h, toyota mirai, rav4 prime, sienna, venza, and 2020-2022 toyota highlander hybrid vehicles. The skid control ecu software may not turn on the vehicle stability control (vsc) system when the vehicle is restarted after the driver has disabled the vsc system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 126, "electronic stability control systems."
  dealers will update the skid control ecu software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed may 27, 2022. Owners may contact toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 22ta03. Lexus' number for this recall is 22la01.

• Recall 230964 [USA]: A short circuit can cause dimming or failure of the rear turn signals and hazard lights, reducing the vehicle's visibility to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash.
  Toyota motor engineering & manufacturing (toyota) is recalling certain 2021 venza hybrid vehicles. Water may enter the rear turn signal led lights, allowing condensation to form on the circuit board, and causing a short circuit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
  dealers will replace both rear turn signal led bulbs and replace the rear turn signal light assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed march 18, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available by june 30, 2022. Owners may contact toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 22tb01/22ta01.

• Recall 2022021 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the rear turn signal bulbs could short circuit. If this happens, the turn signals and hazard lights may dim or may not work properly. Note: this problem can cause the turn signal indicator on the instrument panel to flash quickly. Safety risk: turn signals that do not work properly could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead intends to turn. Hazard lights that do not work properly could make the vehicle less visible. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective action: toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealer to replace both rear turn signal bulbs. The dealer will also replace the rear turn signal lamp assemblies, if necessary.

• Recall 2022179 [Canada]: Brakes
  Issue: under certain conditions, the vehicle stability control (vsc) system may not switch on when the ignition is restarted. This can happen if the driver manually turns off the vsc, depresses the brake pedal, and then turns off and restarts the vehicle while continuously depressing the brake pedal. Canadian regulations require the stability control system to be active each time that you start the vehicle. Safety risk: a stability control system that is switched off could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the skid control ecu software.

• Pedestrian alert sounds investigation # DP22005

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.

Small rock hit windshield causing it to immediately crack 12” long and in an arc. In 55 years driving never had this occurrence. Checked website and apparently there are quite a few incidents of the same size of crack and arc happening in 2021 venza. Wondered if there is a manufacturers defect with this windshield.

Vehicle 2 weeks old; small pebble (pea size) hit windshield centered on passenger vision (approx 80% from left to right) ; crack starts to form in windshield to left of driver vision (approx 10% from left to right) starting at the bottom in the black trim section - nowhere near pebble impact; over the next week (whi9le waiting on backordered replacement) crack continued to arc and lengthen to 60% windshield width

Very small rock hit front windshield, which cracked soon after purchase. I might be willing to rack this up to bad luck, but there are several others that have posted online about the exact same scenario, see toyotanation forum https://www.Toyotanation.Com/threads/windshield-repair.1695878/ as well as on the facebook 2021+ venza hybrid club. I think its likely that the front windshield is under engineered and this presents a safety hazard. Im a fan of toyota but i think there is something that needs to be looked at here.

Faulty front windshield cracked without any known damage.

The venzas headlights, while on low beam only, have 2 shadows or blobs in the drivers view. It is very distracting especially while turning or cornering. It appears as if things are running out in front of the car. The issue is discussed by venza owners on the toyota nation blog. On may 19, 2021, 5 days after purchasing the 2021 venza xle, i got a rock peck about 6 inches from the bottom on the driver side center of the windshield. I was on my way home and stopped by a windshield repair shop to see if it could be repaired to avoid further damage. The repair shop said it could and to return the following noon with the car. By the following morning, the small peck had turned into a 12 inch long run. Now it's about 30 inches long. A replacement windshield ($964 for the part) has been ordered but is on back-order with no projected delivery date. There are no aftermarket options.

Just purchased new 2021 toyota venza hybrid. With low beam headlights on, have black "shadows" in top portion of illuminated field on both sides. Very distracting esp. On dark, curvy road. These shadows do not appear with high beams on...Nothing on headlight lens to cause these black areas. Low beam shadows apparent when vehicle is stationary as well as moving. Previously had a 2019 toyota rav4 hybrid without this issue.

Our car impacted with another as we tried to enter the highway from a short merge lane. The other car entered in front of us from the side of the road after we passed a stop sign in the merge lane; the other car then stopped short before entering the highway, just as we were speeding up the enter the highway. A sensor sounded in our car, we slammed on the brakes, and the two cares collided. The passenger side front of our vehicle was damaged; the rear drive side of the other car was damaged. Driver side seatbelt in our car operated normally. Passenger side seatbelt in our car loosened instead of tightened; passenger hit head on dashboard as brakes were hit or impact happened (we were going approx. 15 mph. Upon impact). Said passenger observed upon impact of head on dash that her seat belt was hanging slack away from her chest by approx. Six to eight inches. Toyota product liability dept. Was informed (case number 210409002008) between 6:15 and 7:30 pm on friday, april 9th, 2021. They say they will download the "black box" information, but they haven't committed to a physical inspection of the seatbelt, which seems critical (i.E., that a seatbelt engineer physically investigate).*dt
