• Recall 86862 [USA]: It is possible for the heated washer module to ignite and a fire may occur.
  Gm is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 buick, lucerne; cadillac dts; hummer h2; model year 2008-2009 buick enclave; cadillac cts; model year 2007-2009 cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext; chevrolet avalanche, silverado, suburban, tahoe; gmc acadia, sierra, yukon, yukon xl; saturn outlook; and model year 2009 chevrolet traverse vehicles equipped with a heated washer fluid system (hwfs). A recall was implemented in 2008 to add a fuse to the control circuit harness to address the potential consequences of a printed circuit board (pcb) electrical short. However, there have been new reports of thermal incidents on hwfs modules after this improvement was installed. These incidents resulted from a new failure mode attributed to the device's thermal protection feature. The significance varies from minor distortion to considerable melting of the plastic around the hwfs fluid chamber.

An updated page for the owner manual will be provided and inserted in the owner manual to document that the feature has been permanently disabled and removed from the vehicle.   Issue: long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: for 2009 models listed, this recall only affects vehicles that were imported into canada, and were originally sold or ever registered in certain areas of the united states that experience high or moderate levels of heat and humidity. Safety risk: if the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective action: general motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag.   On certain 2500hd and 3500hd series pickup trucks, the passenger frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the passenger airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will replace airbag inflators.

  On certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm) may corrode due to a significant quantity of snow and/or water containing road salt or other contaminants entering the vehicle and saturating the acoustical padding beneath the floor carpet. If sufficient moisture collects and is retained in the padding, it may cause excessive corrosion under the module; compromising the module seal and allowing water intrusion and system malfunction. This may result in illumination of the airbag readiness light along with a "service airbag" message on the driver information center and, in certain instances, may cause inadvertent deployment of the seatbelt pretensioner and/or airbags. Inadvertent airbag and/or pretensioner deployment could result in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will remove the acoustical pad above the sdm, inspect, and if necessary, replace the sdm. Note: this is an expansion of recall 2009-291

  *** this notice is provided for information purposes only as the subject equipment is not regulated under the motor vehicle safety act *** a safety defect may exist in aftermarket acdelco brake shoes manufactured between april 1st 2013 to april 19 2014, sold and/or installed as service replacement parts. The lining of the rear brake shoe may detach from the steel shoe during normal service, causing the affected brake to fail. If the lining detaches from the steel shoe, it could cause rear-wheel lockup and it will reduce the available braking force which could lengthen the required stopping distance, and increase the risk of a crash without prior warning. Correction: gm dealers, acdelco warehouse distributors and their professional installer customers are to inspect the manufacture date of the rear brake shoes and, if necessary, replace the shoes. Customers of the 125 vehicles that were serviced by gm dealers with the suspect parts will be notified by first class letter.

  On certain vehicles equipped with an optional dual batteries, the owner's manual does not specify a maximum amperage rating for the auxiliary battery to the trailer wiring harness. If the circuit is overloaded, a fusible link may fail and could damage adjacent components, potentially resulting in a fire and increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install an 40 amp inline fuse and provide an owner's manual supplement containing maximum amp rating information. Note: owners are advised not to use equipment that exceeds a 40 amp draw on the auxiliary battery trailer wiring.

• Recall 2011074 [Canada]: Heater and defroster
  On certain vehicles, the interface between the electrical terminals of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (hvac) blower relay resistor module and the wiring connector (which powers the module) may be incapable of conducting higher current levels for sustained periods of operation. In addition, moisture and other contaminants (such as road de-icing materials) may enter the fresh air intake plenum and contact the internal circuit of the module or corrode the terminals. These conditions may cause the relay resistor module or wiring connector to overheat, causing various symptoms such as: the hvac blower may not function on certain or all blower speed settings; a burning-plastic smell or smoke may be present in the vehicle, or; the hvac blower may run continually with the ignition in the off position. These warning signs could, in certain instances, be leading indicators of an impending vehicle fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: owners will be provided with additional warranty coverage for the blower motor resistor module/wiring connector overheating condition. Under this "special warranty coverage", should this condition occur within 10 years or 240,000 km from first vehicle registration, dealers will install a replacement blower motor resistor and resistor module connector.

Metal brake lines rusted prematurely @ 29,900 miles causing brake line to rupture. This caused brake failure. Truck had to be towed to dealer who diagnosed rusted brake lines. For future safety all metal brake lines on truck required replacement. Failure occurred in work parking lot so no accident occurred due to failure.

Dash has cracked at the corner of passenger airbag and above instrument cluster.

Rusty brake lines lost brakes, think that a vehical should go 10 years without brake lines rusting away i was lucky when they broke i was home but just got back from another state and was at highway speeds.

I had a minor vehicle accident when i applied the brakes they went straight to the floor. I hand my vehicle towed to shop and it was found that the brake lines had rusted thru in the bracket on the firewall.

Upper and lower ball joints bad at 88k. Bought from dealer oct 2015, full engine replacement january 2016 at 87k

Driver door. Won't unlock have to get out of truck on right side , took it to dealer said it not and easy fix over 1200 dollars to repair, look on line a lot of other who have serria tk have had problems with the locking system not working, with the door not unlocking has to be a saftey issue.

As truck was started after routine maintenance and being pull out of garage on11/10/15 there was a fire under the front of truck. When the fire was extinguished, the mechanic saw that the wiring was exposed due to continuous scraping against truck frame.

The primer pump housing develops a small leak around a electrical connection. This could lead to a fire as fuel drops on the engine. Gm is aware of problem it has been on going for several years. It only occurs when vehicle is running. Note-no fire has happen to my vehicle, nor do i know of a fire occurring. I just believe this is unsafe. The only way to correct the problem is to replace primer pump housing.

Dash board cracking!!! Have the slt/ltz interior. Dash has cracked, causing me a major issue with the safety of the vehicle. Sharp plastic could make my airbags not work properly.
