• Recall 104546 [USA]: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
  This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General motors llc (gm) notified the agency on july 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 chevrolet impala and monte carlo, 1997-2003 chevrolet malibu, 2004-2005 malibu classic, 1999-2004 oldsmobile alero, 1998-2002 oldsmobile intrigue, 1999-2005 pontiac grand am and 2004-2008 pontiac grand prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
  gm will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on september 9, 2014. Gm's number for this recall is 14350.

• Recall 85283 [USA]: A broken steering knuckle could result in loss of steering control and a possible crash without warning.
  Dorman is recalling 979 steering knuckles, dorman p/nos. 697-902 and 697-903, sold under dorman's "oe solutions^tm" brand name, and napa p/nos. 7-8502 and 7-8503 which were sold for replacement use on the various vehicles listed above. A potential material or design defect could result in the steering knuckle breaking in the hub area.

• Recall 81099 [USA]: If the weld fails, loss of steering could result, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.
  Dorman products is recalling 3,900 intermediate steering shafts dorman part nos. 425-151, 425-152, and 425-153, (sold under dorman's "oe solutions" brand name), balkamp #'s 7-3057, 7-3058, 7-3059 (sold under the "napa" brand name), and platinum parts #'s 2425151, 2425152, and 2425153 manufactured during the month of september 2007. These replacement steering shafts can be used on the vehicles listed above. The weld connecting the inner tube to the outer tube may be defective.

• Recall 2014284 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain vehicles, a defect in the ignition switch could allow the switch to move out of the "run" position if the key ring is carrying added weight or the vehicle goes off-road or is subjected to some other jarring event. If this were to occur, engine power, power steering and power braking would be affected, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The timing of the key movement out of the “run” position, relative to the activation of the sensing algorithm of the crash event, may also result in the airbags not deploying in a subsequent collision, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: for each key, dealers will install two key rings and modify the key ring opening shape. Note: until the correction is performed, all items should be removed from the key ring.

Parked car at work, sat for 7 hours, would not start at end of shift. Acted like dead battery but with no click. Jump started, while driving noticed the following not working: speedometer, odometer, trip mileage, fuel gage, dash lights, tachometer, other warning lights lit up. Parked at home, shut engine down, restarted, all areas functioning properly. Left over night, next morning same problems with exception dash lights came on. All lights dim when ignition is engaged.

I have a 02 olds intrigue and it has a flickering in intensity issue with the headlights. This is a driving distraction not just for me but anyone in front of me ...As they may feel brighted or it may distract them and they may vere away from me. I have had people slow down when directly in front of me because they thought i was signaling them with my lights, also god forbid a cop ever see my car doing this here in mo they may think i'm warning others of a cop in the area. I've read up on this and gm says its normal operation but yet many of us owners are having the same issues. They put out different altenators but the only one i've read abt success with cost upwards of $400+ dollars. This is a defective altenator issue that drops out for a few seconds and thats what causes the pulsing of lights. If i wanted to be in a dance hall i would go, my vision is already compromised and this is a serious distraction.

With no reason the engine will cut off, leaving me with no power to steer or move. Have been to numerous repair shops and they can not find the cause. 2002 olds intrigue gx. Bought it 3 weeks ago. Not sure if this happened all at once or gradually over a period of about 3 hours-- my spouse was driving the car. Power steering stopped working when turning to the left; still works for right turns. It is very difficult to turn at city driving speeds (10 - 35 mph), and nearly impossible to turn when parking. Power steering fluid level is okay. No repairs yet by the dealer. We should not have to pay for repairs!!! This poses enough of a danger, even if you know of it in advance and are strong enough to turn the wheel manually. I believe gm did a recall for a similar problem on their 1998 intrigue, in 2004. Are they just waiting until enough people are injured in the 2002 models to decide to do the right thing? We shouldn't have to pay $1300 for the dealer to fix a faulty/cheap/irresponsible design on gm's part, one that persisted for four years after the initial design. *jb

Power steering failure. When pulling out of a tight parking place the power steering started making noises. After exiting the parking place the power steering is sluggish, but not all of the time. This is a safety issue as some time you can turn with no problem, other time it takes additional effort to move the steering. You never know what to expect!! I suppose it could totally fail at any time also!! The oldsmobile garage (burke) has ordered a new power steering pump and will install it next week at a cost of five hundred and ninth four dollars to me. They say there have been no recalls or service bulletins on this problem. Old parts will be available when removed next week .*ak

To whom it may concern:i have taken my 2002 oldsmobile intrigue 3.5 back to the dealer 3 times complaining of exhaust fumes getting into the passenger compartment and oldsmobile service keeps saying that they do not see or smell anything wrong. They also say that the obd 11 on board diagnostics would turn the check engine light on if something was wrong. I have used a digital home carbon monoxide tester in the passenger compartment and it has registered from 7 ppm to 27 ppm. I drive to work monday thru friday for one half hour, seventeen miles each way. When i arrive my arms have a purple color. My voice has become weak. I am slurring my words. I open the car windows no matter how cold in an effort to get fresh air. My behavior has become erratic. On the weekend i stay at home to tired to get up and go out. On sunday night i start to feel my energy return to the point that i feel like exercising. Monday morning i get up dreading the thought of having to drive to work because the cycle will start all over again. I have gone away on vacation and used a rental car and my energy starts to return. My opinion is that my gm car is causing these problems. There is a person on the web who is experiencing the same problems i am. The indicator remained lit until the engine oil was dispensed into the reservoir tank. In addition, there was an oil leak around the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and it was determined that the failure was contributed to the valve cover gasket. The vehicle has not been repaired. The owner has contacted the dealership. *ak pennsylvania highway patrol stopped the consumer and asked if there was problem since the headlights were flashing on and off. Consume stated what the problem was and was advised to get the vehicle off the road. Dealership was contacted and stated they were aware of the defect and it was the air pump. They considered this normal. *ph *jb

I have a 2002 oldsmobile intrigue 3.5 with 10,000 miles. When i drive it i get sleepy, headaches and my face turns red. I suspect that there are exhaust fumes getting into the passenger compartment. The dealer does not see any problems after 2 times in for service. They say that they cannot hear or see any exhaust leaks. My fear is that i will fall asleep while at the wheel and people will get hurt. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this problem before somebody is hurt?*ak

Dt: the wheels been leaking air due to corrosion. Replaced 10 tires and stems. Took vehicle to dealer, and they replaced all 4 yesterday, a couple of weeks ago replaced 1. There chrome plated aluminum wheels that came with the vehicle that have the corrosion build up. Dealer stated that they have seen others that were worse.*ak the valve stems were leaking. *jb

Fail to start and it was at the dealer 3 times, we didn't get receipts, and they say 2 times. They could not find the problem and we went weeks and months without any problem. It started again this feb and "every" time we tried to drive it, we had to jump it. The dealer took it in this past month and said he couldn't find anything wrong, of course, it's out of warranty with only today we are paying to have a private repair man find and fix the problem, which we think is a starter. We do not have records of when the problem started, only the year, so therefore i'm putting in jan 1 for asterik.

Consumer states her headlights goes out any time-without warning, she has had the auto repaired and looked at about three times. The last 2 times has been a problem with the headlights. She also states she has had to drive this auto about 3 miles at approx 3 am in the morning with no lights. Mr

When accelerating from a stop, vehicle experiences a "delay" when the pedal is depressed. Vehicle will then surge forward into gear. Dealer has been unable to duplicate problem. Ph

Rear shoulder belts locks up, and is unable to use it. Cause unknown. Dealer notified.*ak

While driving at 30 mph consumer ran head on into a steel gate, and then hit three trees. Upon impact, none of the air bags deployed. Contacted dealer. Please provide further information. *ak

Headlights are very dim and look yellowish. Also, dealer replaced alternator, and all switches on dash get very hot. Consumer is afraid a fire may start. Please provide any further information.*ak

Headlights flicker on and off while driving. When the air conditioning is engaged, problem becomes worse. Consumer has taken vehicle to dealer 4 times for repairs. Dealer has diagnosed problem as a short term voltage drop within the electrical system and has even replaced the alternator, but was unable to correct issue.*ak
