  Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2015-2020 transit vehicles. An incorrect driveshaft torsional damper service kit may have been installed, which can allow the damper shield to contact the parking brake cable, possibly resulting in parking brake failure.

If this happens, a wheel to could come loose or separate from the vehicle. Note: this recall only affects vehicles with single rear wheels, a 4.10:1 axle ratio and aluminum alloy wheels. Safety risk: a wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the rear axle shafts. The contact owns a 2019 ford transit. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the steering wheel started to vibrate abnormally. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving above 60 mph. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as the torque converter needing to be replaced or rebuilt. Multiple promises from ford alvi tx to supply a manual for my brand new 2019 van without success as well as documenting that the van had only 100 miles on it when it actually had 400 miles on it p. After this was mentioned to the sales person the paperwork was not updated i am a female going to be traveling in this van and with the performance history of just getting a manual makes me uncomfortable not knowing if something goes wrong with the van that i will have adequate responses from ford.

We were able to pull to the side of the highway. Both times, after pulling to the side of the road, we were able to restart the car and drive normally. We have serious concerns for our safety if it's possible for the van to shut off while driving.
