• Recall 68886 [USA]: Power steering assist is suddenly lost reducing the driver's ability to steer the vehicle as typically expected, and increasing the risk of a crash.
  Mazda is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 mazda3 and mazda5 vehicles manufactured from april 2, 2007 through november 30, 2008. These vehicles may have a condition in which a sudden loss of power steering assist could occur at any time while driving the vehicle.
  mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power steering pump and lines free of charge. The safety recall began on september 15, 2010. Owners may contact mazda customer assistance center at 1-800-222-5500.

• Recall 84527 [USA]: This may result in the bolt(s) snapping off during use or without a load. the unsecured rack and load can then come loose while driving creating a potential road hazard, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.

Is recalling 2,323 owner-installed roof-mounted fit kits, models 3068 and 3069, manufactured between january 1, 2008 and february 28, 2009 that are used with thule podium foot packs, models 460 and 460r. These fit kits were sold as aftermarket equipment for use on the vehicles listed above. The bolt(s) used to secure the foot to the vehicle was manufactured to a hardness that may cause the bolt(s) to be brittle and potentially break under stress.

• Recall R/2008/050 [UK]: Engine mounting may fail under sudden acceleration
  It has been identified that the number 4 engine mounting bolt may not have been tightened to the correct torque during production. This could result in the engine mounting failing under sudden acceleration.
  recalled vehicles will have the mounting bolt checked for compliance. Should the torque on the subject bolt be found to be outside of the specification.The appropriate action as described in the technical instruction will be applied as necessary.

• Recall 2010274 [Canada]: Steering
  On certain vehicles with electro-hydraulic power assist steering (ehpas), rust had formed inside the high-pressure pipe on the power steering system during manufacturing due to improper processing. Rust particles may detach from the pipe walls and enter the motorized power steering pump, causing damage to the pump bearings. As a result, gear lubrication may be reduced, leading to an increased load on the motor. Should this happen, there is the potential for the power steering system to enter the fail safe mode in order to prevent overheating, resulting in the power steering warning lamp to light and the motorized pump to stop which could lead to a loss of power assist and the required steering effort will increase. Correction: dealers will flush the power steering system and repair as necessary.

• Loss of electric power steering assist investigation # PE10021

  The subject vehicles have electro-hydraulic power assist steering (ehpas).The complaint counts shown above alleged a loss of power steering assist in the subject vehicles.Usually, but not always, the loss is accompanied by the simultaneous lighting of an indicator light on the dash.The complaints include 14 alleged crashes involving 6 injuries.On mazda3 and mazda5 vehicles manufactured from april 2, 2007 through november 30, 2008, rust may have formed inside the epas high-pressure pipe during manufacture due to improper processing.If the rust is present it may damage the power steering pump bearings leading to an increased load on the electric motor; this results in an elevated operating temperature for the epas system.To prevent excessive overheating of the system, which could potentially cause permanent damage, afailsafe mode which de-powers the electric pump is implemented.This causes a loss of power assist making it more difficult to steer the vehicle, especially at lower vehicle speeds.Once the failsafe is implemented the epas system will remain disabled until the ignition is turned off.However epas will be re-enabled if the operating temperature is reduced (i.E., within an acceptable range) on a subsequent drive cycle.On august 8, 2010 mazda submitted a part 573 defect information report initiating safety recall 10v-374 to remedy the subject vehicles.The report, which contains additional details on the remedy repair, is available at http://www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/recalls/.Odi notes that the affected population shown in that report includes approximately 8,000 vehicles mazda repaired prior to initiating the recall.

The sunroof exploded while i was driving on freeway.

There is major leaking from multiple unknown sources, one place the water hides is in the spare tire wheel well and it was not evident at first as to why the car was molding on the inside. It has terrible microbial growth that is evident and i can only imagine what i cant see. The car to my knowledge has never been in any accident to cause this. Had the heater core replaced because i was told that could be a reason why there is water in floor , it was replaced and i was informed that there was nothing wrong with the original one.. That was a year ago, and it has only gotten worse . When it rains the car is soaked even when the water that is in the wheel well is sucked up... I have seen other similar complaints online, i just don't know what to do . I have children one that has autism and asthma and this is my only source of transportation .... Insurance claim was filed and they covered a carpet clean... The source(s) is not fixed or known!! The sunroof lines have been ruled out as well they are clean...

Side sliding doors will open while driving, creating a safety hazard to passengers.

Sudden power steering loss while driving on an entry ramp of a highway, accompanied by illumination of multiple lights on the dashboard. Steering loss occurred while vehicle steering wheel was turned and vehicle was in motion and preparing to merge onto highway. Steering wheel suddenly and violently jerked from my hands, causing the vehicle to steer in the direction off the road. Dash lights (including power steering) flashed intermittently, however would remain constantly on when steering was pulled from center position. Power steering loss was spontaneous, intermittent, and without warning. Vehicle did not record any diagnostic fault codes while lights were displayed. Symptoms vehicle displayed coincide with "recall summary" found documented on nhtsa recall 10v374000 for the 2007 mazda5. Incident occurred briefly at low speeds while parking on 08/23/2019 and resolved after vehicle was turned off and restarted. Incident reoccurred while merging onto highway at high rate of speed as described above on 08/25/2019. While incident occurs and lights illuminated on dashboard, the steering wheel motion is very restricted and the wheel automatically forces itself back to the center (neutral) position. The lights on the dashboard will remain constantly illuminated with any movement of the steering wheel away from the center/neutral position. The radio also has hello displayed, as if the vehicle was just started, even though the vehicle is in motion and was never turned off.

The sliding doors seem to be frozen and they will not latch properly. One day while my daughters were in the car with me the doors slid open after i drove away and they thought they had closed the doors. The other two days the door did not slide open but the light indicated the door was open but we hadn't used the doors we only unlocked them.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving 15 mph, the steering wheel failed to return to its original position and straighten the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact should take the vehicle to the dealer and that there was a tsb. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 mazda 5. While driving 30 mph, the steering wheel became inoperable and the steering wheel indicator illuminated. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle, but the failure seized. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v374000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
