• Recall 244002 [USA]: An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2015 elantra, genesis coupe, sonata hybrid, 2012-2015 accent, azera, veloster, 2013-2015 elantra coupe, santa fe, 2014-2015 equus, 2010-2012 veracruz, 2010-2013 tucson, 2015 tucson fuel cell, and 2013 santa fe sport vehicles. The anti-lock brake system (abs) module may leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
  owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the abs fuse, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed november 1, 2023. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available beginning april 10, 2024. • Recall 122245 [USA]: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, the disconnected ocs would, by default, cause the first stage, and only the first stage, of the air bag to deploy, whether there is a child seat in the front seat and the bag should not deploy or if the crash is severe and both stages should deploy. either scenario increases the risk of injury to the front seat occupant.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 genesis coupe vehicles manufactured december 12, 2008, to june 11, 2016. The electrical harness connector for the front passenger seat occupant classification system (ocs) may dislodge when the seat is moved.

• Recall 118658 [USA]: Inoperative wipers during inclement weather can decrease driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2012 genesis vehicles manufactured august 1, 2011, to april 30, 2012, and 2011-2013 equus vehicles manufactured july 10, 2011, to june 12, 2012. The windshield wiper motor cover seal on the affected vehicles may degrade allowing corrosion on the wiper motor's circuit board. The corrosion can cause intermittent or total loss of wiper function.

• Recall 100058 [USA]: If the module corrodes, reduced brake effectiveness may result, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 genesis vehicles manufactured april 30, 2008, through march 28, 2012. The vehicles may contain brake fluid which does not protect against corrosion of the hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu).
  hyundai will notify owners and instruct them to bring their vehicle to a dealer for service. Hyundai will inspect the hecu module for proper operation, and will replace the modules as necessary. Hyundai will replace the factory brake fluid in those vehicles that have not previously had the factory brake fluid replaced. These repairs will be done free of charge. • Recall 2016112 [Canada]: Electrical
  On certain vehicles, the cover seal of the windshield wiper motor could degrade over time. This could result in moisture ingress, which could lead to corrosion on the wiper motor’s circuit board. If the corrosion were to progress, the windshield wipers could function intermittently or become inoperative, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain operating conditions and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the windshield wiper motor with a revised wiper motor.

  On certain vehicles, corrosion could occur in the brake system hydraulic electronic control unit. Over time, this could affect the control unit's operation, causing a low/soft brake pedal and reduced braking effectiveness. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will affect repairs.

• Recall 2016508 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, objects or debris located under the front passenger seat could contact the electrical connector of the occupant classification system (ocs) and disconnect the connector if the seat is moved. This would disable the ocs and illuminate the instrument cluster air bag warning lamp. If the ocs is disabled, the first stage front passenger airbag would deploy in a frontal collision, regardless of the weight and size of the front passenger seat occupant. If the seat were to be occupied by a child seat or small statured occupant, it could increase the risk of injury. Additionally, this condition could cause the second stage of the frontal passenger airbag to fail to deploy during a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant. Correction: dealers will secure the ocs connector to prevent it from being disconnected.

• Hyundai and kia abs module fires investigation # AQ23002

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has received eight hyundai motor america (hyundai) and eight kia america, inc. (kia) part 573 recall reports between 2016 and 2023. The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (abs) modules or hydraulic electronic control units (hecu) manufactured by the equipment supplier mando. The part 573 recall reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by mando. Safety recalls included in this audit query (aq) review include: hyundai recalls 20v-520, 20v-543, 21v-161, 21v-160, 21v-303, 22v-056, 22v-810, and 23v-651. Kia recalls 16v-815, 20v-518, 20v-519, 21v-137, 21v-331, 22v-051, 22v-800, and 23v-652 the purpose of this aq is to evaluate the timeliness and scoping of hyundai and kia’s defect decision making and adherence with reporting requirements; and understand the varying defect descriptions and remedies between these recalls.

• Brake hydraulic control module failure investigation # PE13033

  On october 28, 2013, hyundai motor company (hyundai) submitted a defect information report (dir) to nhtsa describing a safety defect in the braking system of approximately 43,500 model year (my) 2009 through 2012 hyundai genesis sedans (nhtsa recall no. 13v-489).The hyundai report indicates that the recalled vehicles may contain brake fluid that does not sufficiently inhibit corrosion on the zinc plating of control valve armatures in the hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu) module. The dir indicated that, over time, the build-up of corrosion products may affect operation of hecu control valves, resulting in a low/soft brake pedal with reduced brake effectiveness, which may increase the risk of a crash.In october 2011, the hecu supplier notified hyundai that the brake fluid used in production plants was causing corrosion of valve armatures in the control module.The supplier changed the coating of the valve armatures in late march 2012 to correct the problem in production vehicles.Hyundais recall includes genesis vehicles produced prior to the implementation of the hecu change.In march 2013, hyundai initiated a service campaign (tl6) to replace brake fluid in the subject vehicles with brake fluid with better corrosion resistance properties.According to hyundais dir letter, after pe13-033 was opened, the company noted that some of the vehicles serviced in the tl6 campaign subsequently required hecu replacement.This was an indication that internal corrosion had progressed enough to affect valve operation and brake performance, prompting hyundai to conduct a safety recall.Hyundais repair procedures for 13v-489 require brake system flushing and replacement in all recalled vehicles with a new fluid containing the necessary corrosion inhibitor.In addition, for vehicles produced prior to june 1, 2010, dealers will perform an inspection procedure to verify that the hecu is functioning properly and replace units that do not meet the test requirements.Hyundai indicated that, based on analysis of claim data, only vehicles produced prior to june 1, 2010 have been in service long enough to require the additional inspection/replacement of the hecu. My vechile stalls while driving at various times. This could cause a serious accident in which lives could be lost . This eems to be problem with the genesis from 2012 to 2016 from my research. I am not the only owner with this problem . The dealers cant find the problem or why it is occuring . The dealers give you numerous reasons as to what might be the cause of this problem, but they are not sure . This could cost a consumer $1000 of dollars just to find out what the problem is . This occurs when just driving down a street, on curves or going straight. I have not had an accident yet! Im trying to avoid this .This occurs when my gas tank gets low , that is what i have noticed .

The hyundai genesis has a transmission problem where it slips out of gear and rough shifts 2-3rd gear and 4-5th gear. I took the car to the dealer and they could not duplicate. They updated software, no change. I contacted hyundai multiple times. I am second owner of vehicle with 45k on it. They would not honor factory warranty since i am second owner. The tsb no. 15-at-005 applies to this problem. The transmission should have been recalled instead of tsb.

Complete loss of all power supply and total mechanical system/engine no longer operational

Complete failure of engine. Sensors and electrical components malfunctions. Touch screen display non responsive and keystrokes off. Gas/fuel would spew back out when filling. Windshield visibility poor. Lighting dim. Hydraulic system fail. Timing belt fail. Flang sound (ticking in engine) led to engine fail. Electrical lights flickering was me. Vehicle stalled out completely shutting off locking up and seizing out. Components malfunctioning. Hard brake checks, high rpm rrevving, and idleing all are shown when car was traveling at 45 mph and no change in speed. Failure of fluids cause corrosion and hecu. Engine light indicator and engine oil lamp light flickering with no distinct pattern. Proceeded to bang loud in engine. Rpm rev 2-3k before speed catches. Cd player problems. Always making a sound as if it is trying to eject and then sputters out. In 2 days the entire vehicle went from no lights displaying no knocking sound. 94k miles total

Car shut off full power off while on a residential road and i went across the road up a slanted small hill and ran over tree and yard debris.

Brake failure. Brake pedal must be pumped to completely depress the brakes and stop the car. This issue persists throughout use of the vehicle and no matter whether at highway speeds or in town. The issue began suddenly and has been consistent with the vehicle since that point. The brakes not being fully functional render the car unsafe to drive under any driving conditions. Cruise control light turns on intermittently and cruise control is fequently unavailable on the car.
