  • Recall R/2018/117 [UK]: Water ingress may cause windscreen wipers to fail
Due to inappropriate waterproofing water may be drawn into the front wiper motor and/or may cause corrosion of the wiper link ball joint. This may over time cause the wipers to fail.
on affected vehicles replace the wiper motor which has a modified breather and wiper link ball joint.

  • Recall R/2018/336 [UK]: Sunroof glass may detach from the sunroof assembly
The sunroof glass may detach from the sunroof assembly.
replace the sunroof glass and bonding material.

  • Recall R/2014/044 [UK]: Reduction in power steering assistance
Due to a nonconformity in the manufacture of the alternator pulley (free wheel type) the contact surface of the pulley might be deformed. In use the tightening torque of the alternator pulley can decrease resulting in the pulley detaching from the alternator. Should this happen the driver will notice reduced power steering assistance and the warning lamp for the charging system will illuminate.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and ascertain which alternator is fitted. Where an unmodified alternator is fitted replace the alternator.

  • Recall R/2014/129 [UK]: Brake pedal fails to release
Due to incorrect installation of the switch sleeve in the brake booster the switch sleeve may be cracked. As a result the tip of the switch sleeve could break off causing the brake pedal not to release with the effect of the vehicle being unable to restart/move/pull away.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to check the production date of the brake booster. Replace the brake booster if it is of the affected production dates.

  • Recall R/2014/072 [UK]: Possible loss of drive
As a result of incorrect machining of the oil seal installation aperture in the transfer cover by one of the transfer box suppliers it is possible the oil seal may move from its intended position in the casing. This can result automatic transmission fluid (atf) passing from the main gearbox into the transfer casing causing the atf pressure to drop which will result in poor shifting and the illumination of a warning lamp on the instrument panel. Also as the oil level in the transfer box increase it can leak out from the transfer box breather pipe onto the road surface. In the worst case scenario the vehicle can lose all drive.
recall all affected vehicles to inspect the transfer box. If found to be one of the affected transfer boxes then the transfer box will be replaced.

  • Recall R/2018/180 [UK]: Parking brake caliper shaft boots incorrectly sealed
Due to improper sealing of parking brake caliper shaft boots water might penetrate inside and rust the shaft. As the result of continuous use the rust will erode into the internal caliper and the shaft becomes stuck causing decreased parking brake force. Due to improper manufacturing process automatic adjuster for brake pad clearance of rear brake caliper might not work properly. As the result as brake pad wear the clearance is not correctly adjusted and brake force becomes insufficient to hold a vehicle. In the worst case scenario parking brake will not work even though a lever is fully operated and parked vehicle may move.
anti-rust coating (fluorine) has been applied to parking brake shaft from 27/01/2016 supplied parts & the inspection process for the caliper has been changed from 14/12/2014 supplied parts.

  • Recall 2020216 [Canada]: Structure
Issue: on certain vehicles, road salt can corrode the front cross-member (subframe). As a result, a lower control arm could eventually detach from the cross-member. This could cause a loss of vehicle control. Safety risk: a loss of control can create the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: mitsubishi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the front cross-member (subframe). If no significant corrosion is found, the dealer will spray a sealing and anti-corrosion coating both inside and on the cross-member. If significant corrosion is found, the dealer will replace the cross-member.

  • Recall 2018052 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles, the flange of the drive belt automatic tensioner may crack over time due to repetitive high load operations and stress concentration. This could cause the drive belt to detach, leading to battery depletion, which would result in a loss of motive power and a loss of power steering assist. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the auto tensioner with a countermeasure unit.

  • Recall 2017364 [Canada]: Visual system
On certain vehicles, water may drain from the windshield cowl area and potentially collect in the area of the wiper motor breathing hole. If the wiper motor is not operating, water could potentially enter the wiper motor through the breathing hole. If this occurs, over time, it could result in corrosion and/or an electrical conduction failure, both of which could result in the wiper motor not operating. If the wiper motor were to stop operating, the windshield wipers would become inoperative, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain operating conditions which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the wiper motor with an upgraded wiper motor that will prevent water intrusion.

  • Recall 2016529 [Canada]: Visual system
On certain vehicles, water may drain from the windshield cowl area onto the front wiper link ball joint. Over time, this could result in corrosion and/or wear to the joint, which could result in the separation of the wiper link ball. If separation were to occur, the windshield wipers could become inoperative, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain operating conditions which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the rubber boot which covers the ball joint with a countermeasure one, and the wiper motor crank arm will also be inspected and replaced as necessary.

  • Recall 2016317 [Canada]: Structure
On certain vehicles, road salt can corrode the front crossmember assembly, which may ultimately lead to separation of the control arm at the mounting point. This would allow the wheel to rotate off its designed axis, and could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: dealers will inspect the crossmember and apply an anti-corrosion treatment or replace the assembly, as required.

  • Recall 2014248 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain 2012 to 2014 model year vehicles, due to improper manufacturing of the oil seal boss in certain transfer assemblies, the oil seal can become out of position and allow automatic transmission fluid to enter into the transfer assembly, resulting in reduced automatic transmission fluid pressure in the transaxle. This condition would illuminate the “automatic transmission” (a/t) warning light in the instrument panel and could result in the inability to shift gears or to drive the vehicle, increasing the risk of crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transfer assembly. Note: only a limited number of 2007 to 2010 model year vehicles equipped with a replacement transfer assembly are included in the recall population.

  • Recall 2014247 [Canada]: Steering
Certain 2013 model year vehicles with a 6-speed automatic transmission may have been manufactured with insufficient clearance between the power steering pressure tube and the bosses on the converter housing of the automatic transaxle. This may cause the power steering pressure tube to rust from abrasive contact between the two components. In the worst case, a pin hole could develop and allow for power steering fluid leakage, which can result in the loss of power steering assist and increase the risk of crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the power steering pressure tube and return tube. Note: only a limited number of 2007 to 2012 model year vehicles equipped with a replacement automatic transaxle with the bosses on the converter housing are included in the recall population.

  • Recall 2012001 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standard 108 - lighting system and retroreflective devices. An incorrectly manufactured turn signal lever could cause the auto-cancel function to become inoperative. The vehicle operator will, however, continue to be able to manually cancel the turn signals. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the turn signal lever.

Airbags no longer will deploy according to collision repair shop. Had some hail damage repairs after that the dashboard light for airbags came on throughout the year and then stayed on permanently. I was driving on a street and the airbag light just came on and from that point has not went off.

While driving the transmission causes the powertrain to stop working making the car impossible to remain in motion. This will happen while driving in traffic. The transmission will howl and squeal right before it no longer works. Was told by mitsubishi that the cvt transmission was not built for long distance driving, towing(even though it is offered with a towing package), mountainous driving or uphill acceleration. This is unsafe as it causes a sudden stop in high speed traffic with a cause for serious injury if another vehicle were to hit the stalled vehicle

Following i just sent to mitsubishi headquarters i see recalls for transmissions for my make and model and year that states transmission fail prematurely between the miles of 114,000! And 179,000 and mine did at 137,000 it is now stating for 4 model years 2 of which are 2011&2013. What was the difference for 2012 transmission when yes indeed my year of 2012 transmission failed prematurely? It did just as your recall states and then when i put in my vin# i am told it wasn't my skipped year that was part of the recall. Later down the road months later i recheck and my year newly became skipped for this transmission recalls. I believe there was more than one reason for your recall. Can you do the right by the car i bought from you folks and replace the faulty transmission that was put in my car? You: i have a 2012 mitsubishi outlander. I broke down on the interstate and had my car towed to the mitsubishi dealer and their service dept said my transmission is shot due to a secondary code that the cvt has non operational pressure with an internal weak oil pump which caused the failure. And it would be 7,500$ just for a new transmission and an additional 800$ to put it in. I believe there was a recall skipping my year car being a 2012 outlander. I bought it new and have always had different problems with it. One of which back in 2016 the pinion seal for the transfer case was faulty and it took me to demand checking why i was getting a leak of oil left on my clean garage floor. I bring that up as to could this be one of the causes of transmission failure? I did have it replaced under warranty which never would have happened if i didn't notice the leak myself. While i am at it my heat and ac have been barely been acceptable for keeping us warm in the cold winters here and ac not performing very well either. My car is now stranded at the burlington mitsubishi dealer

One day i noticed a screw missing from the piece that holds the visor to the roof and it won't be long until the visor falls all together. *js

While in motion, an anchoring screw hold the passenger side visor to the roof panel fell out into my lap. As the passenger at the tie, i checked the visor, noticing the screw fell from above and noticed the second of the two anchoring screws was near falling out, also. Previously, a similar screw had been found on the driver's side floor area, but the location it came from was not apparent as the visor mount from which it fell was hidden by the position of the driver side visor. Checking the driver side visor, i noticed the second and last anchor screw was also very loose and mostly out of the tightening position it should have been in. I envision that in a circumstance where an average driver did not notice the anchor screws were loose from the visor mount overhead, the visor could fall onto the steering wheel of the vehicle possibly causing inability to steer the vehicle or surprising the drive enough to cause loss of control of the vehicle. It appears the torque on the screws was incorrect to keep them secured, or the thread of the screw is not correct to hold them tight into the visor mounts, allowing vibrations during normal driving use to allow the screws to become loose and eventually fall out of the visor mount bracket altogether. I reseated the screws using a silicone based gasket sealer to prevent the screws from vibrating out of the bracket mounts. However, i can envision the situation to be one that could contribute to a crash. *tr
