Front timing cover has large leak. Vehicle has 88,000 kms, always regularly serviced at porsche dealership in vancouver. This is a very common issue with porsche v8 engines and requires a fix in the amount of approx. $5000-8000, as the engine has to be taken out of vehicle. As my vehicle is out of warranty, this cost is prohibitive out of pocket, especially considering the vehicle is relatively new with low kms. Porsche should either do a recall for these engines or provide extended warranty up to 10 years for the leaks, considering it is way too common. There are lots of reports in rennlist, 6speedonline and other numerous forums regarding this. Documenting this common transfer case problem. Felt and heard shutter/noise at slow speeds when driving slow and jerky movement upon accelerating. Car had only 40k miles and unluckily just past warranty. Replaced transfer case for $4500 in sep 2018 and now in jul 2020, another 14k miles later, i'm starting to hear similar symptoms brewing...Not a good sign. Porsche should give replacement transfer case another 4 years warranty instead of just 1 year.
