The affected vehicles have a tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) that may not have been set in the correct mode during vehicle assembly, and therefore will not provide an appropriate warning in the event of an underinflated tire.   Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 tucson vehicles manufactured may 19, 2015, to november 14, 2016, and 2017 santa fe vehicles manufactured november 28, 2015, to november 14, 2016. The affected vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer hitch wiring harness that, due to a malfunction of the tow hitch module, may result, in the trailer brake lights being constantly illuminated. • Recall 115246 [USA]: Without a warning to remind the front seat occupants that their seat belts are not buckled, they may forget to buckle their seat belt, increasing their risk of injury in the event of a crash.
  Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 santa fe vehicles manufactured september 1, 2015 to february 12, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the wires in the front seat belt buckle harnesses may be damaged by the seat's height adjuster mechanism, resulting in a failure to provide an audible warning when front seat occupants do not fasten their seat belts. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 208, "occupant crash protection."

  Issue: on certain vehicles, the control module for the antilock brake system (abs) could short circuit. Note: this recall does not affect vehicles equipped with smart cruise control (scc). Safety risk: a short circuit could create a fire risk. Corrective actions: hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the abs multi-fuse. • Recall 2017297 [Canada]: Structure
  On certain vehicles, the cable between the actuating lever for the secondary hood latch and the secondary latch may become corroded over time. This could cause the secondary hood latch to remain in the open position when the hood is closed. If the vehicle were to be driven with the primary hood latch disengaged, or primary hood latch is released while driving, the secondary hood latch may not hold the hood closed while the vehicle is in motion. If this were to occur, it could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the secondary hood latch cable.

  The office of defects investigation (odi) received a petition on february 2, 2024, requesting a defect investigation into an alleged defect of the "engine" on the following vehicle model stated by the petitioner: 2017 hyundai santa fe vehicles equipped with the 3.3l v-shaped gdi lambda-ii engine.The petition itself can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11570526. The petition cites allegations of a loss of motive power, often resulting in an engine seizure. The stall is preceded by a knocking sound, decreased performance and no warning lights. The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (abs) modules or hydraulic electronic control units (hecu) manufactured by the equipment supplier mando. The part 573 recall reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by mando.   The office of defects investigation (odi) has received a petition on july 13, 2022, requesting a defect investigation into an alleged defect of the "oil drain pan assemblies" on the following 83 models/model year vehicles stated by the petitioner: 2006-2019 hyundai sonata, 2013-2018 hyundai santa fe sport, 2010-2012 and 2019-2020 hyundai santa fe, 2010-2015 and 2018-2019 hyundai tucson, 2011-2021 kia sportage 2005-2020 kia optima, 2011-2020 kia sorento, 2010-2013 kia forte, 2010-2013,kia forte coup, and 2007-2010 kia rondo vehicles equipped with the 1.6l t-gdi gamma, 2.4l theta ii gdi, 2.4l in-line gdi theta ii, kappa, and 3.8l v-shaped gdi lambda-ii engines. The petition also cites additional hyundai/kia vehicles that use similar drain pan assemblies as the above-mentioned vehicles as having drain pan assembly failures. The petitioner provided subject and peer vehicles information related to alleged engine failures. Location: apartment complex , driveway this morning i went to drop off my son at my parents place and when i made a u turn to turn around, the car accelerated on it’s own, i stepped on the brakes and it was too late, i hit the neighbors car on the corner and my right tire was on top of the sidewalk. Keep in mind the speed limit in the apartment complex is 5mph. I was going at 6mph and when the car accelerated it felt like if it was going 20mph! I bought my car last year on august 2020, since then my car has been giving signs of hesitations on the acceleration but never would of thought my car would actually drive off on its own. I have a 1yr old son and after this accident happen i don’t feel safe driving my car at all or even trust it at this point, i don’t want to be driving and it happens again and it could be worse.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while his wife was driving and approaching a red traffic light, the light turned green and the driver depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle started shaking abnormally and loss motive power, and stalled without warning. The driver attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle would not restart. The contact arrived at the scene and attempted to jump-start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to start up. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as bearing failure which caused the shaking and stalling of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost of the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

Broken cam shaft lifter arm caused engine to stall and break down

The engine is consuming oil. After 1500 miles since my last oil change the oil does not show up on the oil stick. I have bought 3 brand new hyundai santa fe's and 1 used sonata, and never had problems, except for my 2017 santa fe sport, which i purchased at dondelinger hyundai in baxter, minnesota. I have also had to replace the backup camera. I have been to this dealer 4 times with no resolve! Please help!!

Smelled smoke at a stop light. Continued when light turned green. Pulled over about 30 car lengths later because smoke was coming in the vents. Jumped out of car and ran. Within 2 minutes, entire front engine was completely engulfed in flames. No indicator light came on before. Car was driving perfect.
