  Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2013-2023 honda accord, civic coupe, civic sedan, civic hatchback, civic type r, cr-v, hr-v, ridgeline, odyssey, acura ilx, mdx, mdx hybrid, rdx, rlx, tlx, 2019-2022 honda insight, passport, 2020 honda cr-v hybrid, 2018-2019 honda clarity phev, fit, and 2015-2020 honda accord hybrid, pilot, acura nsx vehicles. The fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
  dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed february 5, 2024.   Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2013-2015 accord vehicles equipped with a 4-cylinder engine and a continuously-variable transmission that were originally sold, or ever registered, in connecticut, delaware, district of columbia, illinois, indiana, iowa, kentucky, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, virginia, west virginia, and wisconsin. The drive shafts were assembled with a lubricant that may have degraded the drive shafts' protective coating, making it more susceptible to damage from road salt or other contaminants, and potentially cause it to break.

• Recall 2020609 [Canada]: Powertrain
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the paint on the front axle shafts could delaminate or become damaged by road debris. As a result the axle shaft could corrode. If this happens, the axle shafts could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Also, if this happens and the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied, the vehicle could roll away. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels or a vehicle rollaway could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace both axle shafts.

  On certain vehicles, the case for the battery sensor may have been improperly manufactured with gaps that could allow for moisture intrusion. If moisture or road salt were to enter the battery sensor case, it could result in corrosion to the sensor, which could cause an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect, and replace the battery sensor as necessary.

• Loss of direction control investigation # EA21001

  The office of defects investigation (odi) received a petition dated october 19, 2020 requesting an investigation of an alleged defect in the steering system in model year (my) 2013 honda accord vehicles. The petitioner alleges that my2013 honda accord vehicles are experiencing a sudden loss of steering control as the vehicle veers from its intended path of travel. The petitioner further alleges that this deviation from the intended path of travel occurs without warning or driver input while operating the vehicle under normal driving conditions. The petition itself can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11349961.On november 23, 2020 odi opened a defect petition (dp20-005) to evaluate whether to grant or deny the petition. Odi sent two information request (ir) letters to honda requesting information on steering anomalies in my2013 honda accord vehicles and later in my2014-2015 honda accord vehicles. Odi performed extensive analysis on the information obtained from honda as well as information in nhtsas databases.Based on odis review of the applicable materials, including responses to ir letters sent to honda, vehicle owner questionnaires (voq) and early warning reporting data, nhtsa has decided to grant the petition. • Air bag acu electrical overstress investigation # EA19001

  The office of defects investigation (odi) is expanding the investigation to include the equipment supplier and vehicle manufacturers (oems) using this unit.The investigation focuses on acus manufactured by trw, now zf-trw (zf) , the tier-one supplier to hyundai and kia and the other affected oems.The acu senses a vehicle crash to determine whether air bag deployment is required, and if so, deploys the appropriate air bags and other supplemental restraints.Zf supplied subject acus to six oems: fca, honda, hyundai, kia, mitsubishi and toyota.Internal to the acu is an electronic component (an application specific integrated circuit, or asic) that monitors signals from crash sensors.A failure of the asic may prevent deployment of the required air bags and devices, or may otherwise affect the proper operation of the acu.The acu is located in the passenger compartment, and electrical wiring connects the asic to sensors located at the front of the vehicle.Odi’s current understanding is that a crash event may, in and of itself, produce harmful signals on the sensor wiring capable of damaging the asic, although the probability of this occurring appears to be low.While the acu incorporates electrical circuitry intended to protect the asic from harmful signals, the level and effectiveness of the protective circuitry varies by oem customer.During pe18-003, hyundai and kia filed recalls (18v-137 and 18v-363 respectively) to address a defect that could result in acu disablement and non-deployments.According to the filings, the disablement occurs in certain types of frontal crash events.Both filings discussed a condition known as electrical overstress (eos) that affected the subject asic and was likely caused by electrical signals that entered the acu via sensor wiring.The recalled vehicles used acus that had the lowest levels of asic protection while non-recalled hyundai and kia products using subject acus had higher levels of protection.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled kia and hyundai populations.In september 2016, fca filed recall 16v-668 for certain model year (my) 2010 to 2014 chrysler, dodge and jeep products also manufactured with the subject acu.In that filing, fca also discussed an eos condition that resulted in a failure of the subject asic, which caused air bag non-deployment. Fca noted that the defect condition had only been observed in vehicles equipped with sensor harnessing routed across the front of the vehicle.Other fca vehicles that also used the subject acu, but not the cross-car harnessing, had not experienced eos failures, despite similar time in service. The recalled fca vehicles used a mid-level form of asic protection.Other fca vehicles that did not use cross car wiring, or used higher levels of asic protection, have not been recalled.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled fca population.Recently, odi has identified two substantial frontal crash events (one fatal) involving toyota products where eos is suspected as the likely cause of the non-deployments.The crashes involved a my 2018 and a my 2019 corolla equipped with the subject acu that incorporated higher levels of asic protection.Additionally, both acus were found to be non-communicative (meaning the acu could not be read with an event data recorder) after the crash, a condition found in other cases where eos occurred with other oems.No other eos events have been identified for other toyota products (including corolla models that used the subject acu since my 2011), or for the honda and mitsubishi vehicles that use the subject acu.Odi plans to evaluate the susceptibility of the subject acu designs to electrical signals, as well as other vehicle factors that can either lead to, or reduce the likelihood of, an eos event.Additionally, odi will evaluate whether an unreasonable risk exists that requires further field action.

The car does not start consistently. I have replaced the battery two times and the starter. I will turn the key and the engine will not crank over, sometimes it will start up 30 seconds or a minute later after i attempt a couple of times. The honda mechanic forum is stating that this is a very common problem from owners of this ninth gen honda accord.

My 2014 honda accord starter is messing up. The car starts intermittent. My car only has around 83000 miles on it. My brother has a 2014 ex-l and my aunt has 2014 lx and they has had their starter replaced. My aunt had just bought her car from the honda dealership and she had to replace the starter. I know honda had an issue with the 2013 honda starter and they claim it is fix. But the same issue is happening with the 2014 honda. This really don't make any sense. I really feel that honda should look into this issue with the 2014 honda as well. This is actually my 6th honda accord (1992, 1994, 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2014). I buy them because of the dependability. But after reading other honda owners regarding the same issues. I really feel like honda need to go back and look into making sure the cars are dependable instead of making them look pretty.

Car starter is not working and when i checked online , 2014 honda accord l4 vehicles has issues with starter kit this is what i found from https://www.Vehiclehistory.Com/articles/2014-honda-accord-starter-recall-a-full-overview this recall impacts 2014 honda accord l4 vehicles made between july 29, 2014 and july 31, 2014. The problem occurs in the engine and the engine cooling system. On these vehicles, the connecting rod bolts were not assembled properly. They were torqued improperly. This can cause the engine to suddenly lose power. It also has caused the engine to leak oil. If this type of improper torquing causes damage to the rod bolts, it can cause the car to suddenly stop. That may increase the risk of an accident occurring. The engine leak risk can also cause a fire because of the location near the hot engine or the exhaust system’s parts. To fix this problem, honda issued an owner notification. It then had dealers bring in the cars and replace the engine short block. These repairs began in march of 2015. I need my vehicle to be recalled to fix this problem

While breaking at slow speed tachometer races to 3000 rpm. After pressing the brake harder speed goes back to normal in a few seconds. This has happened on three different occasions.

Driving on expressway steering in my vehicle stop functioning, my car veered into a guard rail, almost causing myself and my passenger to lose our lives. We a suffering from severe pain and injuries.

Unknown. Just off of warranty, vehicle has started to exhibit intermittent failure to crank/ start on an increasing number of occasions. Could leave driver stranded. Turning key 180 degrees, using valet key, and waiting for various periods of time has allowed the vehicle to start ( so far). Research shows honda replaces starters on 2013 and earlier accords under a recall, but claims problem has been cured in 2014 and later accords. An online search for 2014 and later accords show the problem persists and has not been corrected.

At 104,000 miles the starter on my 2.4 liter honda engine began intermittently operating. I ordered a $200 starter online that arrived with damaged connectors and had to take my car to a honda repair facility. They acquired another starter for $300 and installed it for a total bill of $544.85. As a disabled retiree, i purchased the honda accord due to its reputation for reliability. I need it to be reliable transportation to take me and my wife to doctors appointments and the like, making it a serious health and safety issue for us. I do synthetic oil and filter changes every 5000 miles and rotate my tires at the same time. My plan was to keep this vehicle until the "wheels fell off" but now i'm questioning my decision and honda's reputation. The original honda starter core was sent back to autozone where the replacement starter was obtained. There were no lights or indicators of a pending problem with the starter malfunctioning.
