• Recall 60389 [USA]: Loss of steering control could lead to a vehicle crash with potential injury or death.
  Certain fabtech aftermarket replacement pitman arms, p/nos. Fts71000 and fts71001, installed for use on certain 2001-2006 gm c/k 2500 pick up trucks and sport utility vehicles. The pin located inside the pitman arm can shear off due to a reverse bending fatigue condition, resulting in a total loss of steering control.
  fabtech will notify owners and replace the pitman and idler arms free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during february 2006. Owners may contact fabtech at 909-597-7800.

• Recall 56225 [USA]: A lap portion of the seat belt routing that is not low and snug on the hips can allow the lap belt to ride up on an occupant's abdomen instead of fitting low around their hipbones, and therefore, can expose them to more risk of abdominal and internal organ injury.
  On certain crew cab pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, the 2nd row center occupant seat belt routing may make it difficult to position the lap portion of the safety belt low around the hips of occupants, especially smaller occupants, seated in this position. Appropriate use of a child seat or booster seat, as recommended for small children, does improve the fit condition for this user group. In addition to instructions on proper infant and young child restraint (with child seats or boosters), special verbiage for restraining older child is included in the owner's manual. Also, the suggested seat belt fit/routing for adults, irrespective of seating position, is described in the owner's manual text.
  dealers will cut open the guide loop, remove a portion of the loop, and then the remaining two sides should be folded over and secured with a retainer free of charge. • Recall 56184 [USA]: If a separation occurred and the hood of the vehicle were open, fragments from the accumulator could cause injury to people in the immediate area. the presence of this crack or fractured surface could allow the hydraulic fluid to leak from the accumulator circuit of the booster assembly. the loss of fluid would cause increased steering and braking effort and a crash may occur without prior warning.
  Certain trucks, sport utility vehicles, and vans equipped with bosch hydro-boost brake assemblies, the hydraulic brake booster pressure accumulator may crack and separate from the hydro-boost assembly during normal operating conditions.
  dealers will test the hydro-boost assembly for functional operation of the two-function valve. If the hydro-boost assembly fails the test, dealers will replace the assembly free of charge.   On certain vehicles, the hydraulic brake booster's pressure accumulator may crack and/or separate from the hydro-boost assembly during normal vehicle operating conditions. If a separation occurred and the hood of the vehicle was open, fragments from the accumulator could cause injury to people in the immediate area. • Recall 2005119 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
  On certain vehicles, the 2nd row centre occupant seat belt routing may make it difficult to position the lap portion of the safety belt low around the hips of occupants. A lap portion of the seat belt routing that is not low and snug on the hips can allow unfavourable occupant kinetics in the event of a crash. Moreover, the higher routing allows the lap belt to ride up on an occupant's abdomen instead of fitting low around their hipbones, and therefore, can expose them to more risk of abdominal and internal organ injury. Correction: dealers will modify the guide loop.

• Hummer h2 steering knuckle failures investigation # EA05017

  Odi upgraded this investigation at the conclusion of pe04-080.The alleged defect involves the failure of the steering knuckle at the lower ball joint boss, resulting in a separation of the lower ball joint from the knuckle.A lower ball joint separation could result in a loss of steering and/or a disabled vehicle. It appears that the fractures of h2 steering knuckles can be attributed to wheel/tire collision forces being transferred directly to the steering knuckle.The original knuckle design appears to be sufficient for the h2 application.Evidence from inspected vehicles, photographs, police reports and edr data indicates collision impact events placed stress on the steering knuckle causing it to fracture.Further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that no safety-related defect exists with regard to the subject component.The agency reserves the right to take further action on this issue if warranted.

While traveling on the main roads the speedometer intermittently malfunctions then drops to zero, whereas i'm literally unable to determine my speed this seems to occur when the engine warms up and i been driving for better than a half hour.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 hummer h2. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, the power steering failed, causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. Additionally, the power steering fluid leaked unto the hydro-boost braking system, causing the brakes to malfunction and become spongy, extending the braking distance. The contact works as an independent mechanic and confirmed the causes of the failures. The local dealer apple valley chevrolet located at 650 foxcroft ave, martinsburg, wv 25401 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the nhtsa campaign number: 05v043000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 240,000.

The computer in the h2 hummer malfunction. Wipers will not turn off. 4 wheel drive will not engage. Engine light comes on. Everything the computer controls is failing.

Check engine light keeps coming on and light blinks than stays on until i take it in for service. The shop can't figure out why it is doing this had it shop about 7-8 times for service. Also code states can cause a possible fire

Vehicle has 133,000 miles. It has now experienced an exhaust manifold gasket leak due to broken bolts. This is causing noise from the engine area, and is unsafe due to the leak of hot gases being released from the engine at the points of failure (broken bolts). This may be an epa concern as well, and could also lead to failure of catalytic converter. Repair estimate is $1,300. An online search yields hundreds of other results with same failure and complaint on all gm v8 engines for years 1999-2007. This affects the 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l models. This is a design failure and the affected vehicles with these engines should be recalled.

Heater fan blower motor started working intermittently while car in motion, then smell of burning electrical. Wiring harness to heater under the glovebox was burning hot to the touch and melted all the wires. Plastic wire harness component completely destroyed and almost caught fire.
