Whats New Abstract
I​nfo Only - PACCAR is introducing Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates for engine MY17 and newer chassis
equipped with Cummins X15, X12, ISX12, ISX12N, L9N, PX-7, and PX-9 engines The technology will leverage the
existing Remote Diagnostics hardware to deliver secure software updates remotely. This will reduce downtime and
save on maintenance costs for eligible vehicles.

This bulletin provides information about an OTA software update for the affected chassis listed above. The update
will occur automatically for chassis with a Remote Diagnostics subscription and requires no action.
Warranty
​ o warranty. If a VECU needs a software update in order to receive OTAs going forward, the customer needs to pay

any dealer labor.
Parts
​No Parts are Necessary.
Procedure
The customer will be responsible for paying the dealer for this work.
Check If A VECU Software Update Is Required
This step can be performed by either the customer or the service advisor.
1. Use the Menu Control Switch (MCS) to display Truck Information.
2. Select “Chassis” in the Truck Info menu.
3. If the VECU Software Version Number is 2237284 or higher and the customer has an active Remote
Diagnostics subscription, the vehicle can receive OTA engine software updates, and no further updates
are required for this function.
If a VECU update IS required, follow the procedure below.
1. Open Davie4 and select Identify Vehicle.
2. Click on Software.
3. Select the module that needs to be programmed, then select Retrieve Software. The new software will
download, and the expiration date will display in the Location column to the right of the Status
column.
4. Select the module and click Update.
5. Confirm that you would like to proceed with programming.
6. Verify that the conditions are fulfilled, then click the arrow to proceed.
7. Follow the instructions on the screen.
8. You will be shown a green check mark box if the programming is successful. From here you may exit.
