• Recall 257082 [USA]: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
  Volkswagen group of america, inc. (volkswagen) is recalling certain front-wheel drive 2015-2020 audi a3 sedan, 2015-2019 audi a3 cabriolet, 2019-2020 volkswagen jetta gli, 2018 golf sportwagen gp, 2018-2019 golf sportwagen a7, 2015-2017 golf sportwagen, 2015-2020 golf gti, and 2015-2020 golf a7 vehicles. Due to a problem with a suction jet pump seal inside the fuel tank, fuel may flow into the evaporative emissions (evap) system and possibly leak out of the charcoal canister.
  dealers will replace the suction pump, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed april 10, 2024. A second notice will be sent once remedy parts become available. Owners may contact volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's numbers for this recall are vw: 20uf/audi: 20yf. Vehicles that were previously recalled under 16v-647 will need to have the new remedy completed.

• Recall 240492 [USA]: An undetected sudden loss of pressure in all four tires increases the risk of a crash.
  Volkswagen group of america, inc. (volkswagen) is recalling certain 2019 volkswagen tiguan lwb, golf sportswagen a7, golf alltrack, golf r gp, audi q3, audi a3 cabriolet, 2019-2020 jetta nf, jetta gli, golf gti, atlas, golf a7, audi a3, 2020-2021 atlas cross sport, and 2021 atlas fl vehicles. The tire pressure monitoring system may not detect an air pressure loss in adequate time when deflating occurs among all four tires simultaneously. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 138, "tire pressure monitoring systems."

• Recall 2021014 [Canada]: Brakes
  Issue: on certain vehicles, a front brake hose may be too long and could rub against the steering mechanism. This can cause damage to the hose that could result in a brake fluid leak. If this happens, a driver may have reduced braking. Safety risk: reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: volkswagen will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the front brake hose. It will be replaced, if necessary.

• Recall 2020275 [Canada]: Brakes
  Issue: on certain vehicles, the front brake caliper mounting bolts may not be properly tightened. This could cause the bolts to loosen, which may result in reduced brake effectiveness. Safety risk: reduced brake effectiveness could cause an increase in stopping distance and create the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: volkswagen will notify owners and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the front brake caliper mounting bolts.

• Fuel leak due to suction jet pump failure within fuel tank (remedy effectiveness of recall 16v-647) investigation as of 20231212

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has received 79 complaints and several tread (transportation recall enhancement, accountability and documentation) field reports alleging a fuel leak, refueling spit back, refueling shutoff, or fuel odor in model year (my) 2015-2020 audi a3 and volkswagen golf vehicles manufactured by volkswagen (vw). the complaints allege that these conditions are caused by the failure of the suction jet pump located in the fuel tank. Some consumers report puddles, pools, or spots of fuel in the rear right area of the vehicle, near the fuel tank filler door and rear right wheel well. The fuel tank either straddles the exhaust pipe leading to the muffler or is adjacent to this pipe in these vehicles. Fuel leaking near exhaust system components has a higher potential risk of fire as the components are operating at higher temperatures compared to other areas of the vehicle. No fires have been connected to this issue to date. Vw issued recall 16v-647 on september 2, 2016, for the suction jet pump inside the fuel tank, which was designed to purge fuel from the evaporative emissions (evap) system and stated the suction jet pump may have been damaged during assembly. Vw states that this damage could potentially allow fuel to flow directly into the evap system which may, over time, accumulate in and cause a leak from the charcoal canister filter element. This recall covered certain my 2015-2016 audi a3 and volkswagen golf vehicles. Repair in recall 16v-647 replaces the suction jet pump only. In october 2022, vw issued warranty extensions (awa-22-12 & vwp-22-12) for the fuel tank suction jet pump in my 2015-2020 audi a3 / volkswagen golf and my 2019-2020 jetta gli vehicles for 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Warranty extension repair is the replacement of the fuel tank. The new fuel tank includes an improved suction jet pump. Vehicles included within recall 16v-647 are included within the scope of the warranty extensions. Should the suction jet pump installed as the remedy for recall 16v-647 fail, these vehicles will receive an improved suction jet pump in the new fuel tank. The warranty extension only applies to vehicles that experience the subject failure. Consumers received notification of the warranty extensions via mail. Odi is opening this recall query (rq) to assess the remedy repair effectiveness of recall 16v-647 and to fully assess the potential safety-related problems. I purchased a vw golf 2020 on august 18th, what happened to me a week later not only disappointed me but also sacred me. I drove the car on the street at the speed about 25mph, the vehicle suddenly died! I tried to control the vehicle, i stepped on the brake and pedal, it didn't respond at all. It showed "drive mannually' and then several lights were on, epc, engineer checking light etc, lights were off a few seconds later. Fortunately, there were no cars behind me and not on the freeway! At that moment, the car was out of control, i let it move forward then pulled up. A minute later, i restarted the vehicle, it was back to the normal. I drove it to the dealer to find out the problem. I told what happened and also i felt it lack of power, sometime it respond slowly. However, after several hours, i was told nothing wrong was been detect and they could not do anything with it, since the computer didn't tell there were any issues. Also i was told tat a mechanic test drive about ten miles not to duplicate what happened to me. So i had no choice but to drive it home. However, i stopped at the stop side, the vehicle was kind of dead again! My car stopped there and could not move for a few seconds, a guy behind me pressed the honk. I was so sacary that i was afraid of drive home via the freeway! I brought the car back to the dealer again, i told them i don't feel safe to drive it at all unless you figure it out what's wrong with it. I told the mechanic that i used to drive golf 2011 for five years, my experience told me there are something not right with this car, it lacks of power and doesn't respond properly for gas pedal and i can sense it clearly. However, he said he might not do anything if the computer doesn't tell him what issues it has. I left the car for them to duplicate the problem while driving.

This vehicle has proximity alert automatic braking. I emergency stopped the vehicle when there was absolutely no reason to, no hazard in front of me. I am working with the dealer and vw to try and get this dangerous feature permanently disabled. I was nearly rear ended by a truck because it emergency stopped the car for no reason.
