  Issue: on certain vehicles, the paint on the front axle shafts could delaminate or become damaged by road debris. As a result the axle shaft could corrode. If this happens, the axle shafts could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Also, if this happens and the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied, the vehicle could roll away. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels or a vehicle rollaway could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace both axle shafts.

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). • Loss of direction control investigation as of 20210506

  The office of defects investigation (odi) received a petition dated october 19, 2020 requesting an investigation of an alleged defect in the steering system in model year (my) 2013 honda accord vehicles. The petitioner alleges that my2013 honda accord vehicles are experiencing a sudden loss of steering control as the vehicle veers from its intended path of travel. The petitioner further alleges that this deviation from the intended path of travel occurs without warning or driver input while operating the vehicle under normal driving conditions. The petition itself can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11349961.On november 23, 2020 odi opened a defect petition (dp20-005) to evaluate whether to grant or deny the petition. Odi sent two information request (ir) letters to honda requesting information on steering anomalies in my2013 honda accord vehicles and later in my2014-2015 honda accord vehicles. Odi performed extensive analysis on the information obtained from honda as well as information in nhtsas databases.Based on odis review of the applicable materials, including responses to ir letters sent to honda, vehicle owner questionnaires (voq) and early warning reporting data, nhtsa has decided to grant the petition. • Air bag acu electrical overstress investigation as of 20190419

  The office of defects investigation (odi) is expanding the investigation to include the equipment supplier and vehicle manufacturers (oems) using this unit.The investigation focuses on acus manufactured by trw, now zf-trw (zf) , the tier-one supplier to hyundai and kia and the other affected oems.The acu senses a vehicle crash to determine whether air bag deployment is required, and if so, deploys the appropriate air bags and other supplemental restraints.Zf supplied subject acus to six oems: fca, honda, hyundai, kia, mitsubishi and toyota.Internal to the acu is an electronic component (an application specific integrated circuit, or asic) that monitors signals from crash sensors.A failure of the asic may prevent deployment of the required air bags and devices, or may otherwise affect the proper operation of the acu.The acu is located in the passenger compartment, and electrical wiring connects the asic to sensors located at the front of the vehicle.Odi’s current understanding is that a crash event may, in and of itself, produce harmful signals on the sensor wiring capable of damaging the asic, although the probability of this occurring appears to be low.While the acu incorporates electrical circuitry intended to protect the asic from harmful signals, the level and effectiveness of the protective circuitry varies by oem customer.During pe18-003, hyundai and kia filed recalls (18v-137 and 18v-363 respectively) to address a defect that could result in acu disablement and non-deployments.According to the filings, the disablement occurs in certain types of frontal crash events.Both filings discussed a condition known as electrical overstress (eos) that affected the subject asic and was likely caused by electrical signals that entered the acu via sensor wiring.The recalled vehicles used acus that had the lowest levels of asic protection while non-recalled hyundai and kia products using subject acus had higher levels of protection.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled kia and hyundai populations.In september 2016, fca filed recall 16v-668 for certain model year (my) 2010 to 2014 chrysler, dodge and jeep products also manufactured with the subject acu.In that filing, fca also discussed an eos condition that resulted in a failure of the subject asic, which caused air bag non-deployment. Fca noted that the defect condition had only been observed in vehicles equipped with sensor harnessing routed across the front of the vehicle.Other fca vehicles that also used the subject acu, but not the cross-car harnessing, had not experienced eos failures, despite similar time in service. The recalled fca vehicles used a mid-level form of asic protection.Other fca vehicles that did not use cross car wiring, or used higher levels of asic protection, have not been recalled.Odi has not identified any eos failures in the non-recalled fca population.Recently, odi has identified two substantial frontal crash events (one fatal) involving toyota products where eos is suspected as the likely cause of the non-deployments.The crashes involved a my 2018 and a my 2019 corolla equipped with the subject acu that incorporated higher levels of asic protection.Additionally, both acus were found to be non-communicative (meaning the acu could not be read with an event data recorder) after the crash, a condition found in other cases where eos occurred with other oems.No other eos events have been identified for other toyota products (including corolla models that used the subject acu since my 2011), or for the honda and mitsubishi vehicles that use the subject acu.Odi plans to evaluate the susceptibility of the subject acu designs to electrical signals, as well as other vehicle factors that can either lead to, or reduce the likelihood of, an eos event.Additionally, odi will evaluate whether an unreasonable risk exists that requires further field action.

The car does not start consistently. I have replaced the battery two times and the starter. I will turn the key and the engine will not crank over, sometimes it will start up 30 seconds or a minute later after i attempt a couple of times. The honda mechanic forum is stating that this is a very common problem from owners of this ninth gen honda accord.

My 2014 honda accord starter is messing up. The car starts intermittent. My car only has around 83000 miles on it. My brother has a 2014 ex-l and my aunt has 2014 lx and they has had their starter replaced. My aunt had just bought her car from the honda dealership and she had to replace the starter. I know honda had an issue with the 2013 honda starter and they claim it is fix. But the same issue is happening with the 2014 honda. This really don't make any sense. I really feel that honda should look into this issue with the 2014 honda as well. This is actually my 6th honda accord (1992, 1994, 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2014). I buy them because of the dependability. But after reading other honda owners regarding the same issues. I really feel like honda need to go back and look into making sure the cars are dependable instead of making them look pretty.

While breaking at slow speed tachometer races to 3000 rpm. After pressing the brake harder speed goes back to normal in a few seconds. This has happened on three different occasions.

That may increase the risk of an accident occurring. The engine leak risk can also cause a fire because of the location near the hot engine or the exhaust system’s parts. To fix this problem, honda issued an owner notification. It then had dealers bring in the cars and replace the engine short block. These repairs began in march of 2015. I need my vehicle to be recalled to fix this problem

Driving on expressway steering in my vehicle stop functioning, my car veered into a guard rail, almost causing myself and my passenger to lose our lives. We a suffering from severe pain and injuries.

Turning key 180 degrees, using valet key, and waiting for various periods of time has allowed the vehicle to start ( so far). Research shows honda replaces starters on 2013 and earlier accords under a recall, but claims problem has been cured in 2014 and later accords. An online search for 2014 and later accords show the problem persists and has not been corrected.

At 104,000 miles the starter on my 2.4 liter honda engine began intermittently operating. I ordered a $200 starter online that arrived with damaged connectors and had to take my car to a honda repair facility. They acquired another starter for $300 and installed it for a total bill of $544.85. As a disabled retiree, i purchased the honda accord due to its reputation for reliability. I need it to be reliable transportation to take me and my wife to doctors appointments and the like, making it a serious health and safety issue for us. I do synthetic oil and filter changes every 5000 miles and rotate my tires at the same time. My plan was to keep this vehicle until the "wheels fell off" but now i'm questioning my decision and honda's reputation. The original honda starter core was sent back to autozone where the replacement starter was obtained. There were no lights or indicators of a pending problem with the starter malfunctioning.

After driving 180 miles on the highway at approximately 65-70 mph going downhill, the steering wheel started to shake violently side to side without any warning. We did not hit anything. It only lasted a few seconds. The car did not go out of the lane, but it was very frightening for myself, and my wife in the front passenger seat. The honda dealer checked the car and could not duplicate the problem, or find a digital trouble code. We have never had any problem with this car prior to this instance.

Received a recall notice from honda for the driveshafts premature failure on the 2014 accord models. This failure is related to premature corrosion of the driveshafts. Then we received notice that the vehicle recall was canceled because " we don't live in a snow area and that no corrosion should have occurred. This is nebraska! Plenty of salt and snow! And when the vehicle was in for regular service in july, the mechanic showed me the axles and "strongly advised a replacement" even before we had received any recalls from the manufacturer. I reached out to the local honda dealer and they stated that there was a recall for driveshafts and provide me with the recall website. So i submitted the required information to the honda recall web site.This included the service information, appropriate invoices and the original recall sheet. 6 weeks later, honda customer service called me and stated there would not be any reimbursement for the replacement of the defective drive shafts. They based their decision on the assumption that nebraska was not a snow state nor would corrosion be a factor.Given the number o f honda's on the streets in nebraska, i just can't believe my vehicle is the only one with defective driveshafts. I have the bill and the first hand look at the defects to prove differently. I believe honda should expand the recall to include nebraska and this is a serious safety issue.

When outside temperatures are at least 95 degrees or hotter, the front camera overheats and the forward collision warning system and lane departure warning system don't function until the camera cools down which can take upwards of 15 minutes.

While on a 400 mile round trip visit to family, after stopping for a rest room break, my honda accord would not start after engaging the push button starter. After a few more attempts, the push button ignition finally engaged. While visiting out of state, i contacted a honda dealer there and was told there was no recall on the starter assembly for my 2014 honda accord and that dealer wanted $850 to replace the starter assembly. I declined to pay that outrageous price, taking my chances to return home, a 200 mile trip. During that trip, there were multiple instances where, after stopping for either gas or a rest room break, it took multiple attempts to start the vehicle. At one point, after driving through a fast food drive thru, i pulled into a nearby parking lot to park out of the way to eat my food but kept the engine running to ensure i would get back home. After returning home, i made an appointment with a reputable local automobile repair shop and while waiting for a replacement starter to be installed, the repair technician came out to me to show me the faulty starter assembly he had removed from my accord. The original unit removed from my accord actually came out of the engine in two pieces. It had separated in the middle of the housing. I asked the technician how had it stayed together while it was in the engine and he said he didn't know. (2 photos attached) . At the time of this repair, there were less than 45,000 on this 2014 honda accord (thus also on the starter assembly). The repair was made using a generic starter assembly from napa on 04/22/2021 and i was charged $583.98 total for parts and labor. It's outrageous that such an expensive part didn't last longer than 45,000. I had a 2000 honda cr-v that i sold with 203,000 mile on it and it still had its original starter. Granted, different type to ignition then. .

The steering wheel jerks to the side making it difficult to steer.

Vtc actuator needs to be replaced. On a cold start after it's been sitting, vehicle makes a loud grinding noise and has rough idle.

My car is subject to nhtsa recall number20v-769. The honda dealer will not repair it unless i pay another $1,500 for parts. My dealer said this was a "money grab" by honda and all related parts and labor at 4.5 hours. I should not have to pay for a recall because my driveshaft needs to be replaced.

I've been to honda twice to get an alignment in 1 month, but for some reason it seems that the car continues to pull to the right. A few days ago i came across and article mentioning issues with honda steering wheels, so i'm wondering if my car has the same issue.

The vehicle is a push start. For several weeks now my car will not start on the first try. I put my foot on the brake press the button and the engine will not start. It gives a clicking noise and the air conditioning and displays come on. Sometimes i have to try 5 times and eventually, it starts. Other times i have to try more than 30 times to get the vehicle to start. I put my foot on the brake and press the button. If the engine does not start, i turn the car completely off and try again. Now the car will not start no matter how many times i press the button with my foot on the brake. This happens when the car has been turned off and parked.

The vehicle is a push start. For several weeks now my car will not start on the first try. I put my foot on the brake press the button and the engine will not start. It gives a clicking noise and the air conditioning and displays come on. Sometimes i have to try 5 times and eventually, it starts. Other times i have to try more than 30 times to get the vehicle to start. I put my foot on the brake and press the button. If the engine does not start, i turn the car completely off and try again. Now the car will not start no matter how many times i press the button with my foot on the brake. This happens when the car has been turned off and parked.

February 13, 2021 around 11:45 i was driving with my son and his friend & my dog with me, i about to make a left in intersection when i hit the gas pedal i hear a noise under my car (boom) then the car won't go foward even though i hit gas. Then i put in reverse it's the same thing it won't stop the car are still moving backward so i hit the brake and the car stop in the middle of intersection. So i put the gear in "p" park position but the car are still moving down the hill. Slowly by slowly backwards and then i hit the snow on the side road that's why the car stop. I'm so nervous on that moment even my son and his friend are scared.

I was denied for a service on safety recall after i have asked the receptionist at the service desk when i he will be able to help me while i was waiting in line more than few minutes. Steering wheel suddenly locked up on me as i was driving down a 2 lane city street. Conditions were dry, and was in a residential area, so speed limit was 35. Upon not being able to steer the car i ended up hitting a cable line wire, and was spun into the front yard of some townhomes. I ended up also hitting some large rocks and landing in between 2 large trees. Upon coming to a stop, i then realize that the impact had also caused my side airbags to deploy. Due to the loud crash one of the residents came out to see what had happened as i had landed outside of her homes window. I am receiving a fws failure light on my dashboard. I took it to the dealer and they advised that the module that controls that system needs to be replaced at a cost of about $1800. It is my belief that honda should pay the cost to replace this module. It is not a matter of normal wear and tear. Additionally there is a recall honda dtc U0416/68 for another model.

I learned that the axle was broken when i had the car towed to a honda dealership. I had the car repaired in the amount of $312.49. The mechanic told me that this was a freak incident and that it was a defect in the axle because it should not have broken in that manner. I want honda to reimburse for the cost to repair. It might have been more of a serious situation if this had happened on the highway.

Abs module going bad on a 2014 honda accord v6 exl, a lot of lights on my dash are on, it turns off from time to time and turns back on again for about a couple of days and then it will turn off again and then turn back on. While driving on the expressway 08-18-2020 3 lights appeared out of nowhere on the dashboard, the tpms, electronic power steering & vehicle stability assist warning lights. My child & i felt the vehicle swerve & i manage not to hit a cement wall or oncoming traffic, but instantaneously noticed my vehicle felt different. After just having a 21-pt inspection at john eagle houston & paying almost 1,000 for front & rear brake pads & other mechanical issues, surely i would've thought the dealership could've told me this or warned me it was going to fail. Anyways, after replacing all 4 tires, i thought this would eradicate the issue, but it didn't. I took it back to john eagle houston, only to be told that the yaw rite went out. I read up on this before heading to the dealership & during the 2 hour wait & according to carcomplaint.Com & nhtsa they're many 2014 honda accord owners who have experienced this same issue & have paid over $1,500+ to fix this & the worst part is the part is on backorder & won't be in for 2 months! So, you have faulty cars on the roads that can possibly injure people. Honda will have blood on their hands! This is clearly a safety recall, but i know not guess revenue is more imperative than human life! What will it take? Preventive death? This can be prevented, there's still time. Everyone doesn't have the money & those who don't will just ride with their dashboard's lights lit like the month of december. This is horrible.

They claimed to not be aware of the astronomically high number of 2014 accords with this issue, despite many, many others who have reported this issue. The 2013 accords got recalled for faulty starter. The 2014 accord already had a recall for battery housing. There clearly is a defective electrical issue with this vehicle. Electric power steering keeps going out randomly. Sometimes for days sometimes i can restart it. Already had it into honda they said they fixed a broken harness wire; tried charging me $900 for that i got it reduced to $600. Still having power steering issues. The same problem as the other 250 entries. Engine won't start at the press of the push button. I have 75,000 miles on the car. It is garaged and well taken care of. It doesn't matter the time of day, temperature or if it's the first or last drive of the day. Frustrating to say the least. I have to repeatedly push the button, try shifting into neutral, try getting out and back in. It is entirely random, sometimes taking ten minutes or more to finally start. All indications are normal on the dash, it just will not engage the starter. No click, nothing.

I paid for the service and drove my vehicle off the lot with the severe issues still present. After 30 minutes of driving the vehicle the engine struggled to get up hills, began jerking, jolting violently and i was almost hit by oncoming traffic, i immediately called serve department back at honda and told them about the incident and that i was bringing the car back and for them to do a thorough inspection and diagnosis of the vehicle as it had become a safety hazard and i didn't feel safe driving it. The next day the tells me that they 'test drove' the vehicle again and that the mechanic noticed a 'slight surge' but still could not pinpoint the issue. They then recommended a host of completely unrelated expensive repairs that would cost me $600 to $700; money that absolutely no one has to spare during this nationwide pandemic. Frustrated and disappointed i ended up taking my vehicle to another certified repair shop and they diagnosed the issue as P0300'as an engine misfire. The shop refused to work on the vehicle because they said it's a serious issue and that honda should be responsible to repair my vehicle because they problem is a tsb bad piston rings that honda needs to address. *tr

Every once and a while i get in my car and try to start it up and it won't start . It takes several times before it does start up . You never know when it's going to not start because it does it every now and then . I have an 7 year warranty on the vehicle and nardy mgt. Extended it to 112k miles . Now in april 2020 the vehicle seems to have engine trouble . Vehicle will not start sometimes when you push the start button. I had the battery, alternator, and started tested and all are in perfect working order.. All the batteries in the keys are fine as well. The process i use to start the car is push the break then press the push start button. Bought a 2014 accord coupe new. It is now 12/16/19 and this is the fifth battery in the car. 4 replaced by honda and 1 replaced by mechanic. If car sits in the driveway for 2 - 3 days it will not start. Honda says they cannot find any electrical issues with the car which is hard to believe. Like the ride on the car but very disappointed in the reliability.

My 2014 honda accord was having trouble starting, pressing the push button start would only result in a click. After being stranded by the vehicle not starting i had to have the vehicle towed. I removed the starter for testing. When the starter was bench tested it worked fine. I put it back on the car, it started once and would not start again. I replaced the starter myself. It was $310 for the part. There have been no issues starting the car in the week following the replacement. After reading the nhtsa posts and online this is a systemic issue with the accord that is underreported.

Purchased 2014 accord 5 years ago, and my oil light came on so i called to get my car service since my oil life said i was at 30%. I am now being told that my car is burning a lot of oil. Of course, when i am out of warranty. The dealership performed the oil consumption test after i reached 1k miles from my oil change and they said i may need to replace piston rings or get a new engine. I find it surprising for a car that is only 5 years old needs a new engine. Honda must be lying to their customers and failing the emissions test as their cars are burning way too much oil. Honda is not doing anything to fix this; it was a problem with the older cars (hence the recall for 2008-2011 models) and seems like it continues to be problem for the newer cars. Keep in mind, i have gone to the same dealer for all of my services and kept up to date with maintenance; and i was never told i had low oil in these five years.

The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic brake control module was defective. The contact took the vehicle to capitol honda (745 west capitol expressway, capitol expressway auto mall, san jose, ca 95136, (408) 675-5884) and was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty and that there were no recalls. The dealer provided an estimate for the diagnostic and the contact refused to have the vehicle serviced at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they could not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 90,100.

My 2014 honda accord started having problems starting around oct.1st 2019. I have 91,000 miles and have replaced the battery twice since purchasing the vehicle at 28,000 miles in january 2016. The issue is most times it will take anywhere from 5 - 16 turns of the key before the car starts, its taken up to 40+ times a few times! I see there are 100's of complaints in regards to this problem. Its a safety issue because i was at a gas station and was physically threatened by a guy with a knife because i finished pumping my gas and could not start my car! I had to push my car on the street so the crazed guy could move his car from behind mine. This issue has to be addressed because it causes many safety issues.

The car is burning oil. I completed an oil consumption test as requested by the honda dealer and the oil consumption is high, leading them to conclude that the car is burning oil.
