  • Recall 2019538 [Canada]: Powertrain
Issue: on certain vehicles, the flexible coupling between the transmission and driveshaft may crack over time. If this happens, you may notice vibrations and noise from under the vehicle. If you continue driving with this problem, the driveshaft could separate, resulting in a loss of power to the wheels. If the driveshaft separates, and the parking brake is not used when parked, the vehicle could move suddenly. A driveshaft that separates can also cause damage to nearby components, including brake and fuel lines. Note: cutaway chassis models with a 156" or 178" wheelbase are not involved in this recall. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a ford or lincoln dealer to replace the front driveshaft section and install a universal joint (to replace the flexible coupling). Note: ford does not recommend driving your vehicle if the driveshaft flexible coupling has travelled over 64,000 km.

  • Recall 2018216 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles equipped with a trailer lighting control module, or that had a trailer lighting control module installed as an aftermarket accessory, water may enter the module and connector, and could cause wiring corrosion and damage to the module. This could result in an electrical short to ground, which could cause an uncommanded seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or an increased risk of fire, even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off. This may also cause turn signals to flash rapidly as well as cause a loss of the instrument cluster display, heater and air conditioning controls, and multimedia system (radio, screens, sync). An electrical short could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will add a drainage hole to the driver’s door stepwell and incorporate a fuse into the vehicle wiring harness. Note: this recall is an expansion of recall 2017-516.

  • Recall 2017320 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain vans, chassis cabs and cutaway chassis', the driveline operating angle may affect the long term durability of the flexible coupling between the transmission and driveshaft. If the flexible coupling were to crack, it would result in vibration and noise from underneath the vehicle. Continued driving with a cracked flex coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft, resulting in a loss of motive power while driving, or unintended vehicle movement in park without the parking brake applied. In addition, separation of the driveshaft from the transmission can result in damage to surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A loss of motive power may increase the risk of a crash, and unintended vehicle movement may result in property damage and/or injury to bystanders. Correction: as an interim remedy, for vehicles with more than 48,000kms, dealers will replace the driveshaft flexible coupling every 48,000kms until the final repair is available. Upon the final remedy being available, dealers will either install a redesigned flexible coupling, modified driveshaft bracket and shield, or revised driveshaft equipped with a universal joint. Note: cutaway chassis’ with a 156" or 178" wheelbase are not involved in this campaign.

  • Recall 2016432 [Canada]: Structure
On certain vehicles, the pawl spring tab in the side door latch could break. This condition typically will prevent the door from latching. In certain situations where the door is able to be closed, the door may be partially latched and could unlatch while driving. This could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: if a door will not latch, dealers will replace all four door latches with a more robust part. Note: a door that is partially latched can cause the courtesy light to remain on, set a door ajar message in the instrument cluster and sound a door ajar chime to alert the driver that there is a door latch problem.

  • Recall 2016412 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.2l diesel engine, defects in the high pressure fuel pump could result in excessive wear, leading to metallic wear particles. These particles could clog fuel volume control valves and/or fuel injectors, potentially resulting in the engine stalling or failing to start. A loss of motive power could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the fuel injection pump and inspect the fuel system for metallic contamination. If metallic contamination is present, dealers will also clean/flush the fuel system and replace the fuel filter and fuel injectors.

  • Recall 2016137 [Canada]: Airbag
On certain vehicles equipped with side curtain airbags, the side curtain airbag assemblies may not have been manufactured and installed with the intended design fold orientation. If the side curtain airbag fold is not oriented properly, it could prevent the airbag from deploying as intended. A side curtain airbag that does not deploy as intended during a crash (where side curtain airbag deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: dealers will inspect the side curtain air bags on both sides of the vehicle, and will re-orient them if required.

  • Recall 2016090 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
A heavy impact to the top of a rear seat belt buckle (high end load) may result in damage causing the buckle cover to displace downward and/or rotate relative to the latch mechanism. If a rear seat belt buckle is damaged, the buckle cover may interfere with the normal function of the buckle, which may ultimately prevent the buckle tongue from becoming latched or potentially remaining latched, increasing the risk of injury in a crash or other emergency situations. Correction: owners will be provided instructions to inspect their rear passenger seat belt buckles, or alternatively dealers will provide this inspection if customers have questions or concerns. When repair parts become available, owners will be notified to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the rear passenger seat belt buckles repaired or replaced, as required.

  • Recall 2015608 [Canada]: Powertrain
Certain vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels may have been manufactured with defective rear drive axle shafts. Under certain conditions, these axles could fracture and break without warning. This could result in a loss of motive power or cause unintended vehicle movement when the transmission shift lever is placed in the park position, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace both rear axle shafts.

  • Recall 2014500 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain long wheel base jumbo van vehicles equipped with a diesel engine, the fuel filter mounting bracket may detach from the frame crossmember, causing a knocking noise. This could limit fuel supply to the engine, potentially resulting in reduced power, engine stalling and inability to restart the engine after a stall. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the fuel filter attachment point and install a reinforcement plate.

  • Recall 2014334 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain vehicles, leaks could develop where the rear brake hoses connect to the rear calipers. This would cause a loss of brake fluid and illuminate the brake warning lamp in the instrument panel. If operated in this condition, brake system function could be affected, potentially increasing stopping distances and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the sealing washers on the rear caliper to hose joint.

  • Recall 2014333 [Canada]: Structure
On certain vehicles equipped with windowless sliding doors, reinforcing epoxy may have been omitted from the sliding doors at time of assembly. This could increase the likelihood of the doors unlatching during a side impact, which could increase the risk of injury to unbelted occupants. Correction: dealers will install a door reinforcement plate.

  • Recall 2017179 [Canada]: Structure
On certain cargo trucks built on a ford transit 350 chassis, the brackets securing the cargo body to the chassis may crack. As a result, the cargo box may not be secured to the chassis and could shift or separate during operation, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: revised brackets will be installed.

  • Recall 2021309 [Canada]: Powertrain
Issue: on certain vehicles, the shift cable may detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Note: this recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.5 litre engine and 6f35 (6 speed) transmission. Safety risk: sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the transmission shifter cable bushing and install a protective service cap. Ford advises that you should apply the parking brake each time the vehicle is parked.

  • Recall 2020204 [Canada]: Structure
Issue: on certain vehicles built with a panoramic vista roof, the roof glass may not be properly attached. Over time, the glass can become loose and cause wind noise and water leaks. Eventually, it could separate from the vehicle completely. Safety risk: a glass roof that detaches from the vehicle could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a ford dealer to remove, clean, and reinstall the panoramic roof glass.

  • Recall 2017184 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with 1.6l gtdi engines, low coolant level could lead to localized overheating of the cylinder head, which could cause a fire. This could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install a coolant level sensor and supporting hardware and software. Note: until repair parts are available, owners should regularly check engine coolant level and top up as necessary. Also note for fiesta, only the st model vehicles are affected.

Known Recall Investigations
  • Door latch failures investigation as of 20191219

In december 2019, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened this investigation based on 235 vehicle owner questionnaires (voqs) alleging doors failed to latch when closed, and/or inadvertently opened while driving, on model year (my) 2012-2014 ford fiesta, and 2013-2014 fusion and lincoln mkz. Some voqs reported the failure occurred after the latch had been remedied under a prior recall which involved fracture of the latch pawl spring tab due to thermally induced cyclic fatigue. Other voqs alleged a similar failure in vehicles not previously recalled. A latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a ?Door will not close? Condition, however in certain somewhat rare circumstances, may result in the door coming open while driving. In response to odi?S investigation, ford has announced three field actions, as discussed below. On march 23, 2020, ford submitted safety recall 20v-177 (ford 20s15), a regional recall campaign to address door latch failures in vehicles not previously recalled under safety recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 and 17v-210. The recall affects vehicles currently or ever registered in certain high ambient temperature states (see 20v-177 for affected states). As a remedy, ford will replace all four door latches free of charge. On august 24, 2020, ford issued a non-safety regional field action (ford 20r01) to address door latch failures on the same model/my vehicles not covered under 20v-177 (i.E., not currently/ever registered in affected states). According to ford, spring tab failure rates for vehicles covered by this action are about half that of the 20v-177 vehicles. Under this action, dealers will replace all door latches, free of charge, if either; a) the vehicle exhibits a related latch concern, or b) if the vehicle owner expresses a concern about the latches in their vehicles. Details can be found under nhtsa tsb no. 10190990, a copy of which is available in this investigative file available at nhtsa.Gov.On june 8, 2020, ford submitted safety recall 20v-331 (ford 20s30) addressing vehicles previously remedied under nhtsa recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 and 17v-210, where the repair may not have been properly completed, specifically not all of the door latches were replaced, or replaced correctly. This recall involves an inspection of the latches, with the option for a consumer self-inspection; owners could view the date codes on their latches (and confirm child safety locks are present on the rear doors) and then submit the information to ford?S mobile app or website. A dealership inspection option was also available. Any vehicle found to have unreplaced defective latches requires the replacement of all door latches as directed by ford.Regarding the 4,494 reports cited above, 1,485 involve scope-related failures (with 13% alleging door opening), and the remaining 3,009 reports involving remedy concerns (with 18% alleging door opening - note odi was unable to verify the allegations of door opening). • Door latch failure investigation as of 20160116

In january, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened this preliminary evaluation based on consumers allegations of doors failing to latch and/or inadvertently opening on model year (my) 2012-2013 ford focus vehicles (subject vehicles).Odi has received 464 unique reports related to the alleged problem, with over 200 claiming that the door(s) opened inadvertently while the vehicle was in motion. One consumer alleged an injury that occurred while driving when a door inadvertently opened and then closed on a childs arm.Another alleged that a door that inadvertently opened struck a parked vehicle. In response to odis information request, ford motor company (ford) provided 500 unique reports related to the alleged problem on the subject vehicles.Ford reported no injury or accident claims.Ford also submitted 1,513 warranty claims related to door latch failures. Many customers indicated that the affected door could not be latched at all and some of them decided to restrain the door by other means in order to operate the vehicle. Some customers also reported door latch failures occurring on multiple doors and at different times.Additionally, ford stated that my 2014-2015 ford focus, 2013-2015 ford escape, 2013-2015 ford c-max, 2014-2016 ford transit connect, 2015 ford mustang, and 2015 lincoln mkc, all use the same door latch as the 2012-2013 ford focus. On september 6, 2016, ford notified odi that it would conduct a safety recall (16v-643) to remedy the door latches in the my 2012-2015 ford focus and other ford models mentioned above (total of approximately 2 million vehicles).According to ford, a component within the door latch may break preventing the door from latching.Ford dealers will replace all four door latches in the recalled vehicles with a new more robust latch design that is currently in production. The recall action initiated by the manufacturer appears to address the safety risks.Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The odi reports cited above can be reviewed at www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the identification (odi) numbers found in the attached list.

Rear glass on liftgate spontaneously exploded. No apparent cause. Glass shards were showered inside the cabin and the rear of the vehicle. This seems to be an issue with the transit connect and other ford models. Nhtsa is aware of the problem.

While driving my 2015 ford transit 250 3.5 on the interstate the van lost power and nearly got my killed while trying to navigate off the road without power. The throttle body code was thrown on the cpu, and i was told by the mechanic that these need to be replaced way more than normal with these fords. It's a hazard to shut the vehicle down without warning! And the replacement part is still faulty. The throttle bodies need to be recalled.

Van will make a vibrating noise that is not felt through the steering wheel or pedals at approximately 45mph. It will again at highway speeds 65+mph when the vehicle is shifting in and out of overdrive make the same audible vibration. Local ford dealer attributed this to a manufacturer recall of the drive shaft. Driveshaft has been replaced or worked on at three different points of time over the last several years. Problem has never been fixed. Currently as of 5-14-21 ford dealer has identified the problem to be the torque converter at the expense of $4,000.

NoNoN NoneNone20210415

Torque converter failed, requiring replacement at 75,942 miles. Due to a vehicle design that allows pooling of water & rusting in the control arm attachment bolts, both control arms had to be replaced during the torque converter repair.

Follow-up to prior problem report on this vin. After 24 hrs with battery disconnected, i reconnected battery. Prior problem did not reproduce and vehicle appeared to power-up normally. I used the key to successfully start and run the engine. But there were no instrument readings, tachometer read zero. I moved the key back to the off position, but the engine continued to run. The only way to kill the engine was to disconnect the battery cable. That means the defective module is not failing safe.

2015 ford transit presents with no start condition lose of fuel and code P0230 on further diagnosis found engine compartment fuse box to have multiple fuse terminals loose from the board. To be clear these do not appear as fuses loose from the terminal they go in, this is the terminal seems loose from the circuit board. Either way the effect is the same, causing them to lose power intermittently including the fuel pump creating a no start and or die while driving condition potentially causing loss of steering. Have video documenting the condition as well as two pictures included showing voltage fluctuating..

A control module began malfunctioning by first causing the headlights to come on spontaneously. The vehicle was parked (at home), headlight switch off, no key in ignition. After removing the battery negative cable, any attempt to reconnect the battery causes the starter motor to spontaneously energize and the engine to start running, again with no key in the ignition. I am able to always reproduce this malfunction. I immediately disconnect the battery each time, as i consider this malfunction to be potentially hazardous, and i cannot predict what further malfunction might ensue. I acquired this vehicle used ~12 months ago, and it has run normally until now. Current mileage ~81,700. There have been no modifications to the electrical system.

Was driving to new orleans when i was caught in a very heavy rain storm. The van started to drive rough a day later. Took it into a ford dealership for a driveshaft recall and oil change only to be told that water got into the housing for the air filter and soaked the filter. The water then made it's way throughout the engine. After, i then learned of ford issuing a tsb that would have saved my van should it of been a recall or checked by my local ford dealership when i had previous work completed.

While i was driving, all the dashboard gauges quit working and the lights went off. I was driving at night so it was a little concerning since i couldn't see anything on my dashboard and the speedometer wasn't working. I was told the body control module is bad and after looking at forums, it seems this is an issue amongst many ford transit owners. It seems unsafe that that can happen while driving. I checked to see if there was a recall since it seems so many people have an issue and looks like there isn't.

On or about 4/8/2020 my ambulette with a passenger completely stalled. It was towed to our nys dot shop in westbury that regulates ambulettes. This vehicle , a 2015 ford transit 150 is supposed to circulate transmission fluid coming from transmission and coolant from the radiator at the same time. Coolant circulation is supposed to cool transmission fluid without being mixed. When the service is compromised and mixes together, it will contaminate both fluids-coolant in the transmission.Transmission fluid, cooling system(radiator and thermostat). Coolant from the radiator will t to water pump and cool off and engine -overheating process and engine change. The earlier the contamination process is stopped, the higher the chance the transmission and engine will undergo from a complete shutdown

The vehicle stalled upon backing out of a steep driveway & turning to the left. It would not restart. The van had been parked, at a customers' home all day. Heavy snow began falling a couple of hours before the van was started & warmed up to melt the snow from the windshield. When the van stalled, it was broadside to the street, blocking both opposing lanes of travel as the heavy snow increased in intensity. The van was virtually impossible to push off to the side of the road, due to the quickly accumulating snow, initially preventing a plow & police cruiser from passing. Aaa towing was called but, did not arrive until 2 hours after being summonsed as the snow continued to accummulate. I had the van towed to our business location and decided to check the engine air filter. When i opened the filter housing, it and the air fiter were water-soaked. I observed water running down the windshield, down along the firewall and onto/into the air filter box. I contacted my local ford dealer (ford of wilbraham, ma, tel.: 413-543-2800) to report my findings & to make an appointment to remedy the problem. The solution was performed as per tsb (technical service bulletin) #19-2091 and at a cost of $488.45 (invoice #659506), which i reluctantly paid to the dealer. I explained that this a poor design allowing water to run directly into the air filter box, which, in turn, shuts down the engine & renders the vehicle motionless & can be dangerous, depending upon where & when the vehicles' engine stalls & then fails to restart. The service writer said that there was nothing she could do to help me & that i am still responsible for the cost of the tsb. In addition, my invoice indicates that recall #19s38 was performed, yet it is still outstanding on the recall website under my vehicles' vin. For the record, this van had only 31,853 miles on it, when i brought it in for this problem.

It appears that this model has an engine failure issue related to water entering the air box and causing the water to travel to components that disables the car. I was driving in the rain and got stranded on the side of the interstate in heavy traffic and heavy rain on i40 in knoxville tn for an hour waiting for a tow truck to get me out of a dangerous situation. Had it towed to a dealer that proceeded to tell me the next day that there was a tsb on this issue and that there was a kit that remedies the problem. A deflector of some sort to keep water out of the air box. The cost to the consumer is over $750 to get it done. I strongly believe that is ford knows about about this issue and has come up with a solution, it should be a recall and not just a tsb. Their poor design and negligence put me in a dangerous situation for about an hour . I could have been rammed by highway travelers and possibly killed because my vehicle was disabled because of a poor design that ford refuses to repair at their cost. Someone please advise ford and their dealers that this is not a convenience issue, but a life threatening issue that ford should issue a recall to remedy the poor design at their cost. Thank you.

I have a 2015 ford transit 15 passenger vehicle that was purchased in nov 2016 with 20,000 miles. April 2019 the driveshaft flexible coupling was replaced under warranty. In july 2019 we began hearing a noticeable vibration / subwoofer drone / hum in the vehicle. The drone doesn't happen at a specific speed but is prevalent when we're running 50-70 mph and between 2000 and 2500 rpm. This drone sound is not consistent but now vibrates the entire cabin when it does appear. I can stop the sound by pulling foot off the gas pedal. However it just re-appears at a later time. We have noted that it is progressively getting more frequent and louder - even vibrating the steering wheel. I had the autonation union city, ga dealership look at it and they explained that the torque converter (tc) is failing and causing problems with the transmission -- it would be a $3,000 repair. I have since been researching this and have found numerous others with the same vibration and for the most part - it appears the tc was the solution.. However, not always. Please see this thread - https://www.Fordtransitusaforum.Com/threads/driveshaft-drone-noise-survey.60498/page-7 neither ford nor i know the exact solution until we pull the transmission but it seems that this is pointing to the tc?

My wipers work only intermittently. They will work for a litttle while, then suddenly stop working, and start working again later. It happens in all weather conditions, in warm & cold weather, while driving and when the van is parked. I took it to the ford dealer and they said it was the switch, which they replaced, but that did not fix the problem. I took it back to the dealer, and they ran diagnostics on it. They said the code they got gave them a list of things that they can check, but many of them are very labor intensive to do and therefore very costly (like taking apart the steering column to check some pins to see if they are corroded). One of the things they said they need to check takes about 5 hours to do, so at $100/hr (what my local ford dealer charges), the labor alone would cost me $500, and that doesn't even include the cost of any repairs. This is a genuine safety issue that should be addressed and fixed without the customer paying hundreds and possibly even thousands of dollars to diagnose and fix the problem.

This week took the van to the same mechanic after hearing the same roaring in the front, replaced bearings in the right front wheel. Van has only 30000 miles. Doesnt seem reasonable that this should happen to both wheels, installked incorrectly or not lubricated correctly at the factory?

The vehicle randomly developed hesitation to start one day as if it wasn't getting enough fuel or air. It did start and i drove home from work. I planned to take it to a dealership to get it checked out but the next day but the vehicle would not start. I attempted to jump-start but the battery was at full voltage. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and they diagnosed the car. I was informed the next day by the technician that there was a tsb about this issue and that ford motor company was well aware of the problem and that it would cost me $850 plus tax. Apparently the cabin air filter is not properly weather sealed and under normal use water will make its way into the filter, and into the mass air sensor. Ford has made new replacement parts for this issue but because i am out of warranty by a few months, i will have to pay for the entirety of the bill. Had the part given out while driving (especially at high speeds) the engine would seize and could have likely caused a crash.

Wal-mart alpharetta, ga installed the wrong tires on the front of my 2015 ford transit connect in august 2017. Starke, fl wal-mart could not balance the tires due to wrong load limit having been installed, bubble on driver's side that could blow at any minute & tires having been counter-balanced when installed. I have contacted alpharetta wal-mart, provided all needed info, asked that they make arrangements with starke, fl wal-mart to install 2 new proper load tires at no cost to me. Assistant manager tony was to contact me the following day after wal-mart was advised of the problem. I attempted 3 times to fax the info but their fax machine would not work. I mailed all documentation to assure their notification. I have not heard from anyone. I am afraid to drive. If an accident occurs, this will immediately become a much larger problem than it is now. Please do something to make wal-mart correct this problem right away.

The drive shaft was involved in a recall which ford said they repaired, now the same problem is back. The drive shaft makes a serious vibration especially when moving along a fairly level surface where the engine is not driving very strongly. Especially on a highway at 35 to 65 mph. Automax ford killeen installed recall 16s30 on 6-16-17. On 7-22-18, door latch failed in manner described by recall. Took van into automax on 7-25, on 7-31 was told recall part had failed, on 8-1 told i would need to pay for repair. I thought paying for duplicate failure of recall issue was wrong and contacted ford national office for help. Ford corp. Response was favorable but not definitely covering cost until dealer response. On 8-6 received final approval that ford corp. Would pay dealer. On 8-8 repair picked up car after repair completed, also personally paid for 2nd part for passenger side (since it was likely to fail too if driver side recall part failed & both were replaced during 2017 repair). During pickup, noticed that failed part that had been removed had a 07.10.2014 mfg date sticker. Since recall wasn't issued until 2016, this part could not be a failed recall part but was actually an original part from my vans mfg in late 2014. Dealer suggested this was not the case but would investigate and allowed me to return home with only drivers side repaired and passenger side untouched. Returned home and pulled door trim on passenger side, found seal inside door untouched and dated 2014 also. Could not have performed recall in 2017 without breaking seal. Returned 8-9 with proof and finally got passenger side repaired using part i paid for. Promised refund but not received until 8-21 and amount slightly less than paid due to tax not included. Expressed concern that other customers may also have vans with recall documented but not actually repaired. Assured dealer would take action, but needed time to determine how to fix for others and let me know. On 10-4 followed up and dealer stated there was no plan and since my vehicle was fixed, danger to others was not my worry. Summary: dealer did not put in recall parts, charged for fix, and may have done it to others.

What do you do when your steering wheel suddenly fails to control your car while you are driving? With the steering wheel cranked as far as it would go, my car continued going straight as i pulled into a parking lot. I stopped the car completely, blocking traffic. Then i slowly drove forward with no control over steering. Thankfully, the car ended up in a suitable parking space, but not due to my efforts. I had no means with which to aim the car. All i could do was call for someone to go get me. One day earlier, this car was on an interstate driving at 70 mph. I shudder to think about the harm this would have caused if it had happened 24 hours earlier! Ford's online documentation refers to "loss of steering assist." that's not what happened. I lost all control over steering with a steering wheel that moves easily in any direction but with no effect on where the car is going. There was no warning of any kind when this happened.

While at ford dealer for correction of a safety recall issue i requested the dealer to check vehicle over and to determine if my vehicle's rear brake caliper anchor plate or brackeds were intalled incorrectly (as there is/was a tsb issued for this model and my van was included. The tsb # is 15-0190. Inspection of my vehicle revealed that my vehicle does in fact have this abnormnal assembly (the right sided bracket is upside down on the left side and the left sided plate is installed on the right. Because my vehicle does not at this time appear to be exhibiting uneven brake wear and it has 41500 miles ford does not cover or require a repair and i was told i would need to have a brake job done at estimated cost of $825 during which would allow the anchor plates to be corrected. I feel this tsb should be upgraded to a recall to correct this misassembly which may affect the brake performance of my vehicle in the future. I was told i am out of warrantee by time and mileage and because my vehicle has not yet been exhibiting uneven brake wear that ford did not have an obligation to fix it as it involves a tsb rather than a recall. My vehicle was one of the first built with assembly date 4/2014. I feel that this should be made a recall if that is what it will require to make ford correct this. I simply want my vehicle put together the way it was supposed to have been and to prevent brake issues from occuring.

On an entrance ramp to a highway i heard a loud explosion followed by what sounded like heavy rain. I immediately pulled over and discovered that small flip-out window on the passenger side cargo door had shattered into a million pieces that were inside and outside the vehicle. There was no evidence that this damage was caused by anything hitting it. For this reason my theory is that this was caused by some internal stress caused by the design or material. I was thankful that there were no passengers that may have been injured by the flying glass. Although i am still covered under my new vehicle 3 year / 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, ford has refused to take responsibility for this defect or pay to replace this window. Although it is just about 12"square, they want to charge me $970 to replace it.

The check engine light came on at about 81,000 miles, and a weird noise started happening coming from the engine area. I got into the dealer service department (dealer where i bought the car) at about 81,500 miles. They diagnosed a bad catalytic converter - it was breaking up. Several issues arose from that: first, i have been smelling carbon monoxide in the cab for quite a while and did not know why (now i think i know - clogged catalytic, reversion through the engine bay). Second the catalytic warranty expires at 80,000 miles. (the light went on at 81,000). Third, at the time of purchase, the dealer finance guy forced me to buy an extended warranty. He said that ford would not finance me if i did not buy it so i agreed. It was over $2000 taken out of my down payment. I fully expected the extended warranty to cover the broken cat - wrong - cats are not covered. The repair was quoted at about $1000. My beef here is several fold: the 1) ford warranty expires at 80,000 and the engine light comes on at 81,000 even though the converter had been going bad the whole time. 2) i have been breathing co2 in the passenger compartment. 3) the extended warranty was useless and i paid a hefty sum for it. The repair is quite expensive and the problem is not covered by any of the warranties i have, which i think is unfair. I have not brought this complaint to the dealer to allow them a rebuttal - i simply left in shock that i am on the hook, and now i'm breathing the stink of a decomposing cat if i don't use recirculate (and a slight amount even if i do use recirculate, which is another complaint - recirculate still lets in outside air. In traffic, you are always breathing exhaust).

Our transit van has had a problem with severe vibration in the driveline since about 25,000 miles. Our van is subject to recall 17s15. We have had the "temporary fix," (the driveline flexible coupling replaced) on our van two times at york's ford in houlton, maine: july 21, 2017 (mileage 28,066) and again on october 11, 2017 (mileage 32,787) but it has not fixed the severe driveline vibration. The vibration is worst at highway speeds (65-73 mph), and when going up a hill or when accelerating. It is so loud that it shakes the whole van, making it impossible to hear the radio or have a conversation. The sound is a very low frequency hum, like putting your head inside a subwoofer. I worry that the vibration is also damaging other components, such as the output shaft bearings in the transmission, and possibly the engine. On november 7, 2017 i took the van to a ford dealer in indiana to see if they could fix the vibration problem. They determined that the carrier bearing holding the driveshaft was loose and needed to be replaced, but they were unable to get ford to okay the repair. I have stopped driving the van except for essential travel because of the vibration problem. From what i have gathered reading the ford transit usa forum, a permanent fix, including a new driveshaft, universal joint, and transmission output yoke, has been installed on many of the recalled vehicles, but for some reason ford will not do it on mine. Can you help?

Driveshaft flexible coupling replacementthe flexible coupling between the transmission and driveshaft in certain 2015 to 2017 transit vehicles may prematurely deteriorate and crack with increasing mileage. A cracked flexible coupling will result in an overt moaning noise from underneath the vehicle, along with tactile vibration. Continued driving with a cracked flex coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft, resulting in a loss of motive power while driving, or unintended vehicle movement in park without the parking brake applied. In addition, separation of the driveshaft from the transmission can result in secondary damage to surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines.

Stationary vehicle; parked, driver outside vehicle walked around to front passenger door; passenger opened front passenger door, and a breeze no more gusty than 1 mph was all it took for the door to hyper extend beyond hinge mechanism, and door broke accessory door closing part, preventing it from tightly closing as it should. Door ajar alarm beeps, and the body is damaged near fender of front pass wheel. Extremely dangerous and poorly made part; if ford door can break easily, i. A breeze, they are unfit for the general public to drive them unless on certain days of specific weather or climate patterns are predictable. Dealership refused responsibility and told me to "take it to a body shop where they deal with body damage." ford was not interested in further communications. Auto shop estimates $1100 for a new door.

We purchased 14 ford transit vans from the u.S. Four of the 14 are not in driving condition now due to a problem losing speed [more details for each vehicle are needed]. The fault in all of them shows code P2111. The vins are: [xxx] broken in jan/feb 2017 with less than 4500km; [xxx] broken in march 2017 with less than 5200km ; [xxx] broken in august 2017 with less than 3000km ; [xxx] broken in november 2017 with less than 4600km. At this rate, we expect that our entire fleet of large vans which are ford transits to be inoperable. We have received the service from one of local transit dealers [xxx] , but it seemed the problem is not included in "recall notice" from ford . We would greatly appreciate all assistance in repairing or replacing these vehicles as soon as possible. This vehicle, along with explorers and transit connects, has day running lights (drls) that are bright enough to act as headlights. In addition, the gauge cluster is always illuminated, which doesn't alert the driver to the fact that the taillights are off, decreasing nighttime visibility. The older gauge clusters were better. This is not a specific incident, but a design flaw.

I have contacted the ford dealership as well as ford motor co.'s customer relations department about a problem with my 2015 ford transit's low beam headlights being inadequate to see at night. Here is an email i sent to diana on 9/2816 describing the problem. Purchased new 2015 transit connect, january 2016. Noticed low beam headlights shine approximately 60 feet out in front of the car. The lights are not capable of providing correct, proper lighting. Took the vehicle into the ford dealer, villa ford, orange ca on 9/28/16 and left the car overnight.. The dealer never even got to the car! I have read many other complaints regarding the 2015 transit connect on the internet including, edmunds site. Diana at ford motor co. National customer service completely stopped responding on 9/2916 and did nothing. She claimed there was no such vin number and stopped communication without addressing the safety issue in any way. So, i called ford customer service, (800)392-3673, and spoke to ashley. Ashley called villa ford in orange ca. Ashley informed me villa ford said they did not understand the problem with the low beam headlights. Ashley. Then told me there was nothing ford could do. At the last hour of the second day i was informed they had not got around to the car, but would have a mechanic send a question to ford motor co an ask a question about the inadequate headlights. I was told by the service rep matt jukam, he would call me the next day.He never called. The voltage was never checked, the fuse was never checked, headlight bulbs were not offered. Villa ford never even looked at the car and i left my vehicle for two days. Phil terry custorm relations manager ford motor co. I purchased a 2015 ford transit 350 xlt 15 passenger van exactly two weeks ago. The van has 30,000 miles and came with oem continental 235/65 r16 vanco four season tires. Last week i noticed a "chunk" of rubber missing from the driver side front tire (located on tread, outer lug). The chunk is around 1/2 to 3/4 inch in width and considerably deep. Two days ago i noticed a very large chunk of tread missing on the passenger side rear tire. This particular area is 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inch wide and so deep, i can see nylon cords. At this point, i notified continental as i have never seen tires in this condition with only 30,000 miles. The tires were manufactured in week 38, 2014. I have a large family and do not feel safe driving on these tires. Continental will not honor the warranty as i'm not the original owner. I wanted to write to make folks aware of this issue, just in case there have been other reports for this specific tire line.

The right side mirror design on this van is the worst i have ever encountered. The upper part of the mirror magnifies your view while the lower reduces it. It takes great concentration to make a safe lane change when moving to the right. The poor design of this mirror is going to cause accidents.
