  • Recall R/2018/350 [UK]: Vehicle could suffer clutch pressure plate fracture
A number of vehicles fitted with a 1.0 1.5 or 1.6 ecoboost engine and 6-speed manual transmission could suffer clutch pressure plate fracture. This results in clutch smell reduced vehicle speed and performance. In the unlikely event of clutch pressure plate fracture a noise (thud / bang) could be heard from the vicinity of the transmission in extreme cases resulting in clutch / transmission fragments being released and striking under hood components creating a risk of smoke and fire from the under hood area.
to prevent the repeated heating /cooling events a new calibration has been developed for vehicles fitted with engine stop start feature. The software with the additional feature sets the instrument panel ?Wrench light? And de-rates the engine performance if prolonged clutch slip is detected. The software feature includes a drive cycle strategy for latching the wrench light and engine performance de-rate if the customer should experience repeated clutch slip events. For vehicles that do not have engine stop start feature an alternative clutch kit has been released.

  • Recall 2021396 [Canada]: Visual system
Issue: on certain vans, the pivot points for the side mirrors could rust. If this happens, the mirrors could become loose or fall down. Note: this recall only affects vans equipped with short arm, manual fold, power-adjustable outside rearview mirrors. The recall applies to vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (ontario, quebec, new brunswick, nova scotia, prince edward island, and newfoundland & labrador). Safety risk: a side mirror that loosens or separates could reduce rear visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the side mirrors.

  • Recall 2018216 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles equipped with a trailer lighting control module, or that had a trailer lighting control module installed as an aftermarket accessory, water may enter the module and connector, and could cause wiring corrosion and damage to the module. This could result in an electrical short to ground, which could cause an uncommanded seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or an increased risk of fire, even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off. This may also cause turn signals to flash rapidly as well as cause a loss of the instrument cluster display, heater and air conditioning controls, and multimedia system (radio, screens, sync). An electrical short could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will add a drainage hole to the driver’s door stepwell and incorporate a fuse into the vehicle wiring harness. Note: this recall is an expansion of recall 2017-516.

  • Recall 2021309 [Canada]: Powertrain
Issue: on certain vehicles, the shift cable may detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Note: this recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.5 litre engine and 6f35 (6 speed) transmission. Safety risk: sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the transmission shifter cable bushing and install a protective service cap. Ford advises that you should apply the parking brake each time the vehicle is parked.

  • Recall 2017578 [Canada]: Airbag
Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of canada motor vehicle safety standards (cmvss) 226 - ejection mitigation. A tear in the fabric of the side curtain airbag may occur during deployment, which could cause the duration of the side curtain airbag’s inflation to be shorter than intended. This would result in the air bag not meeting the requirements of the standard and, in the event of a crash warranting deployment of the side curtain airbag, the risk of injury would be increased. Correction: dealers will replace the driver and passenger aside curtain airbags.

  • Recall 2022311 [Canada]: Powertrain
Issue: on certain vehicles, the shift cable may detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Safety risk: sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission shifter cable bushing and install a protective service cap. Ford advises that you should apply the parking brake each time the vehicle is parked.

This vehicles are built with two went opening on top of the engine hood. This went openings are for heat system to suck the air in for heating or defrosting. Problem with this openings they are getting blocked with snow or ice in snowy weather and aren't allowing enough air to enter in to a vehicle to heat it. You can solve this turning the switch to interior circulation but at that time on this option defrost future going out and there is no way to defrost windows basically if the went outside on top of the hood frozen or blocked with snow. This creates dangerous driving conditions. I realize this in the last big snow storm on northeast where we got lot of snow. Company like ford motor should not missed something like that.

Regarding 2018 ford transit xlt 15 passenger with ecoboost engine. The factory installed air conditioning system does not have the capacity to cool down the van's cabin, in southern states like south florida, where the ambient temperature reaches 85+ degrees fahrenheit during a sunny day through most of the year, the vehicle's a/c system simply fails to properly cool down the cabin. Several cases have been opened with ford motor company, and the service department at the ford dealerships fail to even acknowledge the problem. They run their diagnostics tools, and all the components on the system are working as intended, except that it does not provides sufficient cold air to make the passengers safely and comfortably ride the van. Un fortunately, this is an issue that the owners don't discover until after they have purchased the vehicle and driven it for a while. Ford is not providing any solution whatsoever to the problem. And this issue may be affecting all owners of the same vehicle with similar trims and specs. Additional testing and certification of the issue by independent certified vehicle a/c technicians and engineers are being gathered. Further legal action may follow.

This allows the lower section of ccp to be slightly loose. 7. Ac vents on max blowing out 65-70 degree air at idle in 80 degree outside ambient temp. (known issue) 8. Overhead a/c louvered vents are breaking internally when adjusted. One entire vent fell out while driving down the road onto my child's head who couldn't touch it. Not covered because they broke but they aren't a mechanical failure. Daughter had scratch on her forehead where it hit her. 10. Opened up headlamp lens to upgrade the lights and the low beam pig tail on both lights are already deteriorating from the lens heat. Lightly touched each of the locking clips and without lifting either one and they fell off. High beam which are used much less have perfect locking tabs still. Required to maintain continuity to these lights. 11. Last week a plug in the drivers door threshold over frame bolt tripped me when it came up as i was stepping out. Second to fall out. All this told to us under the 36k bumper to bumper yet dealer is willing to charge me for the defective parts.

Rear brakes and tires for two of our 2018 ford transit vehicles are needing to be replaced with less than 10,000 miles on the vehicles. We also seen this occur with one of our 2016 ford transit -- rear brakes have been replaced twice within 32,000

At interstate speeds of 75 mph with a 30 degree crosswind and gusts exceeding 40 mph, the front door on the lee side flexes and the top of the door opens. This deformation of the door indicates a potential for the warping of doors over time or in the worse case, the door completely opening to the detriment of driver and passengers. Traveling north with gusty winds from the southwest the passenger front door flexed open and traveling south with a gusty southwest winds the driver door flexed open. (occurred february 2019 on a sunday)

Have taken our vehicle to ford at least 12 times and have the extended warranty, they have said nothing is wrong with it. We bought brand new and have three sets of brake pad placed on the fron and two pairs on the rears.. We have gone through two sets of tires and the front drivers side is clicking... Ford has said there is nothing wrong.. Not sure what else to do but the vehicle doesn't want to stop and the tires or the one on the front is completely bald and the vehicle only has 15,000 miles on it

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 ford transit. The contact stated that the vehicle wiring was worn and being eaten by rats. As a result, the engine had trouble starting, but the vehicle could still be driven. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to fairlane ford (14585 michigan ave, dearborn, mi 48126, (313) 846-5000) where it was diagnosed that the wiring needed to be replaced. The wires were made out of soy and organic bio plastic. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 67,700.

Vehicle is equipped (standard equipment, not an option) with automatic folding side view mirrors on drivers door and passenger door. Safety fault is that vehicle can be started and driven with the vehicle in folded position. Ford dealership and ford's customer hotline are claiming that this is normal operation of these mirrors. However, common sense dictates that a vehicle should not be able to be driven with the mirrors folded. Legally, this appears to be in violation of us dot regulation cfr 571.111 s5.2.1 which relates to the field of view requirements for the outside rearview mirror - driver's side. If the mirror is folded, it does not meet that regulation. As such, the manufacturer coding of the folding system's hardware should always default to full open position when the vehicle is running or in motion. The dealership service department has indicated that there is no settings in their control related to changing or disabling the function of the automatic folding mirrors. They have seen the problem but consider it normal operation of the vehicle. The scenario to produce this problem is simply: - unlock and enter the vehicle (mirrors unfold to open position) - lock the vehicle using the button on the electronic key/fob. (mirrors fold) - start vehicle. (mirrors remain folded and will remain folded as long as vehicle is being operated) ----- if problem is specific to my vehicle, it requires repair. But it appears that problem is related to every similarly equipped vehicle of this year/model and may extend to other ford models. If so, this requires a recall and resolution to comply with regulations and basic safety function.

Battery kept draining-found out 2 batteries under the driver's seat and the fuel is put in at the driver's seat door. The door must stay opened during fueling. Also, the battery draining and numerous replacements found due to incorrect wiring again. This is a conversion van by explorer, and we've already had antifreeze leakage which is still a problem with the smell. The vehicle is still at repair shop in millersville for another month. Mva investigator kevin chubb directed us to investigate this fuel system and battery system placement for inspection. He felt as we did that it is a health and safety hazard.

Several spots are occurring at joints of door openings and also on the roof where the paint is not adhering properly or is actually being rubbed off when the doors are closed and the vehicle is an operation. The paint job on the ceiling welds is not smooth. It appears that there is some bubbling or chipping going on after only a few months.

When the van is stationary and running for 10-15 minutes, half of the cargo floor (behind the passenger and driver seats) reaches a temperature of 125-130 degrees. A temp gun was used to demonstrate this safety hazard. I made mention of this to an autobody shop who suggested having the dealership take a look since that doesn't sound right. When the dealership in west palm beach (al packer, 561-689-6550) looked over this, they stated this is as designed and it matches a few other ford transits they checked. They said nothing can be done to assist me even though this is a clear safety hazard as a temperature of 130 degrees can cause first degree burn if in contact for about 30 seconds (see attached image references). When i spoke to ford motors (800-392-3673), they said it's up to the dealerships to speak with the engineering dept in order to investigate into anything and that they also cant do anything besides add comments to my case number (15138348) which would be supplied to the service delivery manager i already worked with (steven thomas). This is a brand new vehicle (2500 miles so far) and i've never seen or heard of any where it's expected to work with a floor space that gets 130 degrees hot. I'm looking to get ford to agree to a safety recall to address the insufficient heat shielding with the catalytic converter.
