  • Recall 183397 [USA]: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2015 nissan pathfinder hybrid, 2015-2016 murano hybrid, and 2014-2017 infiniti qx60 hybrid vehicles. The hybrid powertrain control module (hpcm) software may shut down the hybrid system and the engine under certain conditions, causing a loss of drive power.
    dealers will reprogram the hpcm software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed march 31, 2022. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are r21b4 and r21b5.

  • Recall 147799 [USA]: A brake fluid leak on the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2018 nissan murano, 2016-2018 nissan maxima, and 2017-2019 nissan pathfinder and infiniti qx60 vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and unrepaired, or inspected and determined to not need a repair, under recall number 18v-601. In addition, this recall expands the previous population. The anti-lock brake system (abs) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.
    nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the abs actuator, free of charge. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available, currently expected to be during summer 2020. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: if the abs warning light remains illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

  • Recall 120467 [USA]: A brake fluid leak onto the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 nissan maxima vehicles manufactured february 10, 2015, to august 19, 2016 and equipped with intelligent cruise control, 2015-2017 murano vehicles manufactured august 22, 2014, to august 19, 2016 and equipped with intelligent cruise control, and 2015-2016 murano hybrid vehicles manufactured august 22, 2014, to july 19, 2016. The affected vehicles have anti-lock brake (abs) actuator pumps that may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal electrical circuit board.
    nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the abs actuator, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on december 12, 2016. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261. Note: when brake fluid has leaked onto the circuit board, the abs warning lamp will remain illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up. If this occurs, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

  • Recall 119662 [USA]: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 nissan maxima, 2013-2016 nissan altima, nv200, leaf, sentra, and pathfinder, 2014-2016 nissan nv200 taxi, infiniti qx60, qx60 hybrid, and q50 hybrid, 2014-2017 nissan rogue and infiniti q50, 2015-2016 nissan murano, murano hybrid, and chevrolet city express, 2014-2015 nissan pathfinder hybrid, and 2013 infiniti jx35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger occupant classification system (ocs) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
    nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet city express owners will be notified by general motors. Dealers will reprogram the air bag control unit (acu) and ocs electronic control unit (ecu) in altima, maxima, murano, rogue, and sentra vehicles, and replace the ocs ecu in leaf, nv200, nv200 taxi, pathfinder, infiniti q50, jx35, and qx60 and chevrolet city express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on may 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available.   • Recall 114589 [USA]: Under some driving conditions, when the abs is activated, the malfunctioning abs actuator could cause a loss of vehicle stability, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2015 murano vehicles manufactured december 4, 2014, to march 17, 2015. These vehicles are equipped with anti-lock braking system (abs) actuators which may have contamination in the solenoid valves, potentially affecting the valves' ability to completely close and allow a build up of hydraulic brake pressure, or fully open and allow the hydraulic brake pressure to completely drop.
    nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the abs actuator, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on august 13, 2015. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

  • Recall 2019567 [Canada]: Brakes
    Issue: on certain vehicles, the antilock brake system (abs) actuator pump may leak brake fluid and malfunction. This would cause the abs warning lamp to turn on. If this problem is not fixed, damage to the abs actuator could result in a short circuit. Note: this is a replacement and expansion of transport canada recall 2018-486. All vehicles that did not have the abs actuator pump replaced under that recall require this repair. Safety risk: a short circuit could increase the risk of a fire, even while parked. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail with an interim notice. A final repair is not yet available. If the abs warning light stays on for 10 seconds or longer, you should park your vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures. You should also call nissan or infiniti roadside assistance to have your vehicle towed to a dealer for repair. A second notice will be sent to you once the final repair parts are available. This letter will advise you to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the abs actuator.

  • Recall 2018486 [Canada]: Brakes
    On certain vehicles, the antilock brake system (abs) actuator pump may leak brake fluid onto an electronic circuit board, causing it to malfunction. This would cause the illumination of the abs warning lamp on the instrument panel. If the vehicle continues to be operated, damage to the abs module could lead to a fire, creating a risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and replace the abs actuator as necessary. Note: this replaces recall 2016-424. Vehicles repaired under that campaign require a second repair under this campaign.

  • Recall 2016424 [Canada]: Brakes
    Certain vehicles equipped with intelligent cruise control may have abs actuators that may have been manufactured out of specification. This could cause the abs actuator pump seal to leak brake fluid. This would cause the abs warning light to illuminate, and if ignored, and the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the brake fluid leak could create an electrical short in the actuator circuit. This could lead to a fire, which could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the abs actuator, and will replace as necessary.

  • Recall 2016179 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
    On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: for affected altima, maxima, murano, rogue and sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected leaf, nv200, pathfinder, q50 and jx35/qx60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.

  • Recall 2015248 [Canada]: Brakes
    Certain vehicles may have been manufactured with a defective anti-lock braking system (abs) actuator. This could cause pressure control to be delayed when the anti-lock brakes are activated, resulting in loss of vehicle stability, increasing the risk of a crash causing in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the abs actuator and, if affected, replace the defective abs actuator.

  • Recall 2016424 [Canada]: Brakes
    Certain vehicles equipped with intelligent cruise control may have abs actuators that may have been manufactured out of specification. This could cause the abs actuator pump seal to leak brake fluid. This would cause the abs warning light to illuminate, and if ignored, and the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the brake fluid leak could create an electrical short in the actuator circuit. This could lead to a fire, which could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect the abs actuator, and will replace as necessary.

Took vehicle to nissan dealer for regular oil change (service light on). Vehicle had had a couple of hesitations somewhat like having water in the gas. This happen when after stopping and then taking off the hesitation occurred. Nissan checked and the transmission has to be replaced-only 46,000 miles on car? I do have an extended warranty, that i purchased when i bought the car. If nissan is having this problem with these transmissions, they should be automatically replacing them. The vehicle is currently at nissan dealer waiting for the new transmission.

You can clearly see that the sunroof glass exploded up and outward - not indicative of an object hitting the sunroof causing it to explode. My one year old son was also in the vehicle at the time it exploded. Luckily, the shade was closed because he had taken a nap earlier that day. However, if the shaded wasn't closed, my wife and son would have been covered in glass. Also, the explosion was so loud and startling, she nearly wrecked. We took the vehicle to the same dealership we bought it and purchased the extended warranty from but they are still refusing to pay for it.

I thought that this was suspect though as i never had any issues with the light and the system prior to bringing the car in for the abs module recall. I still feel that something was tweaked or the system's failure was exacerbated by having had work performed on it, despite the abs module being located on the firewall and the aeb sensor located in the front grill. I also have seen on the internet that 2015,2016,2017 and 2018 model year rogues,rogue sport, muranos, altimas, maximas, leafs, sentras, armada's and pathfinders have all been impacted by aeb issues. The most dangerous, when the vehicle goes into aeb mode for no reason and applies the brakes. There is a class action lawsuit in process now and some tsb's that you have issued for fixes. I have owned or own 4 nissans since 2010...A 2010 nissan sentra which was recently replaced by a 2019 nissan sentra and my 2015 murano which replaced my 2011 infinit g7xs. I have never had any major service issues with any of them with the exception of this most recent $1006.62 repair which the dealer said would not be covered as it was incidental to the recall repair. I feel the onus is on nissan to reimburse me for this repair as there is endless proof on the internet that this feature has and will continue to cause problems for the above vehicles it was installed on. After having the anti lock brake recall remedied i noticed a warning light came on as i was driving home that had never occurred before. It was the aeb (automatic emergency braking) light. I was driving straight on a highway and there were no cars or other impediments ahead of me. There was no reason for the light to illuminate.I called the dealership as soon as i got home. They told me i needed to bring the car back in again. I did. They did a diagnostic test and told me the aeb sensor was defective. Because i had purchased the gold warranty when i bought the car new 5 years ago, i would only have to pay the deductible and not the full price for the replacement which would normally run approximately $1000.00. I made the appointment. After the sensor was replaced, and on my way home the same aeb light came on. Again, i was driving on straight with no car or other impediment in front of me. I was on a highway. I called the dealership as soon as i got home. I now have another appointment for the same problem. I decided to research the problem. I found out that many nissan vehicles are having similar problems and you have been notified of this. I don't understand why there hasn't been a recall. As you know, if the aeb isn't working neither is your cruise control which i use for long distance driving. Scaringly i heard of some who's car stopped as they were driving on an expressway. I drive expressways for work and to see my children. I would be dead if i had that problem on the busy expressways i travel. This problem is serious and should be addressed. I urge you to contact nissan to have a recall. I'm not sure if this next appointment will rectify the problem or not. I now have an unsafe vehicle with defective strut bolts and an abs accelerator that needs replaced unless i come up with $700. The strut bolts possibly would of never been an issue if nissan hadn't a recall for their unsafe abs accelerator. I contacted nissan customer service and the could not offer any assistance with my issue.

My problem here is that nissan cannot determine the issue and is having me pay for parts while they change parts by assuming what they issue might be, since they are unable to determine the real issue. My biggest regret is purchasing a nissan vehicle. The vehicle is barely 30,000 miles and it's costing me time and money.

No rocks hit the car and there was no collision. It was about 1:30pm in december in michigan, there were no other cars around, no rocks. The sunroof exploded on i's own - due to faulty equipment. The car had about 21,000 miles and has never been in an accident. We purchased it certified, pre owned from a nissan dealership 8 months prior. Nissan has refused to take any responsibility for the issue.

The car was bucking at low speeds (10-20 mph) and had a vibration at high speeds (70+). The dealership reported that the diagnostic code was P17F0 and they needed to replace the cvt subassembly and the rpl automatic cvt transaxle assembly and reprogram the a/t control unit.While doing that they discovered they needed to replace the front and rear seals on the leaking transfer case. This is very similar to a recall affecting the cvt on other nissan vehicles, but that recall did not cover this vehicle.

When accelerating from a stop or at low speed, transmission judders and causes the car to lunge and vibrate till it gets to a higher rpm. At a certain rpm, the car can simple lug repeatedly if the speed is held constant. The car stores an error code and the fix per the dealer is to rebuild the transmission. My vehicle has this issue at only 39,200 miles. While nissan created a service bulletin for this issue, and was repaired under warranty, a repair this major should be a recall because of how expensive it would be to repair out of warranty. Based on the repair order i was provided, this would've cost over $1,600 for parts alone, and the dealer needed to keep the car for a full week. Cvt transmission is a classic nissan failure. I have taken the car multiple times to my local nissan dealer. 1st time, they replaced a faulty valve body, 2nd time they reprogrammed the software, 3rd time they did a vibration software update. Still shudders in lower gears, still has a vibration while idle, but they claim that their technicians "can't feel it" or that they "can't get the car to duplicate". Ridiculous. They know the transmission is faulty and they don't want to foot the bill.

My nissan murano has an automatic emergency braking (aeb) safety feature. About a week ago, i was pulling out of the garage at work. A car in the lane to my right and a little ahead of me, but not in front of me. I slowed as i approached a speed bump. Speed at this time was less than 10mph - about 5 mph. Once slowed, to get over the speed bump, i needed to press on the gas. The aeb system beeped quickly and loudly. The aeb symbol flashed on my dashboard. Then, suddenly and abruptly, the car stop. The aeb system stopped the car. As it did, i looked up. The other car in the lane next to me had managed to go over the speed bumps well before me and was never coming into my lane. The only other thing near me was the speed bump sign that straddled the median to the left. But again, it was not in my lane. I was not in any danger of hitting anything. Thankfully, the car behind me was about 20 feet away or it would have rear-ended me. I was scared and confused, but had to keep going to not block the exit lanes. After that incident, i noticed that the aeb light on my dash would flash, sometimes briefly, again, when i was not in any danger. In one instances, i pulled into a lane as i exited a gas station behind a car waiting at a red light. There was a car in front of me so i approached slowly to get in line at the light. The light turned green. And as i pressed the gas to begin to accelerate, the aeb light flashed. This time, the cars behind me were closer and starting to pick up speed. The car did not stop, thankfully. But these situations continued and occurred at least once a day. I called the dealer to ask about recalls. The service tech did not acknowledge any recalls and offered to test it for $145. This is a safety issue caused by nissan. We paid extra for this feature and now i can't trust it and worry it is faulty.

I have had several "electrical" problems with this vechicle- i purchased it feb. 2016. In july 2018- my xm radio stopped working. Made 12 trips to nissan-they finally replaced it in dec. 2018!! Now june 2019 my back up camera stopped working and the dash board doesn't show the compass and then the controls on my steering wheels doesn't work when i'm driving. Ugh! This is ridiculous car only has 17,000 miles i should not be having so many electrical problems i'm actually concerned about my safety. Dealing with nissan is also horrible- now i have nissan corp involved as i just found out my "basic warranty" is expired (news to me?) and they expect me to pay for repairs/replacement not fair!! Although no service light was present, we immediately contacted the dealer and scheduled service for 1/16/2018. Upon completion of the service call, the dealer indicated that the valve body would need replaced, which is covered under warranty. I have read several complaints regarding this issue with nissan cvts. It is a clear danger to the consumer that if the cvt continues to judder an accident is likely. In addition, issues with the cvt can cause a complete failure of the vehicle, causing serious harm to the consumer. Cars will give a service light when an issue as trivial as tire pressure, low fuel and change engine oil occur. Why when a major mechanical issue is occurring is the car not alerting the operator of a potentially deadly consequence??!!

At about 10,000 miles at low speeds on local city roads, i could sometimes feel vibrations and a lack of acceleration that felt like the transmission couldn't decide what to do. Always at speeds under 20 mph and generally when either slowing down for an intersection or starting to speed up when the traffic light turned green in time that i didn't need to fully stop. After a few of these i took car to dealer and the first time they said there had been no error codes generated and to just keep driving it. After the second or third time i took it to the dealer, now with 12,839 miles on it they reprogrammed the steering angle adjustment and the problem seemed to go away. However, now at 21,000 miles, it seems to be coming back again. I feel like the cvt and computer have a problem communicating with each other in these low-speed situations. This hesitation in acceleration could cause a serious accident and certainly feels unsafe.

Purchased the murano 5/15/2018. Almost immediately noticed a problem with braking/acceleration. The problem occurs when i start to apply my brakes to slow down the engine seems to rev up causing the vehicle to accelerate forward. This requires a need for me to slam on the brakes in order to get the vehicle to stop and get it back under control. The strange thing is that this occurs only about 1/3 of the time. However i feel this creates a major safety hazard to me and others around me on the highway. I have taken the vehicle to my local nissan dealer on on 2 occasions to have them check this out. Unfortunately they say nothing is wrong but the mechanic says he knows what i am talking about because he has experienced it before with other vehicles. It's like it can't select the proper gear and it's a couple gears up from where it should be. The vibration is very annoying and potentially unsafe. There was 27,091 miles on it when i took it in on 11-08-17. The dealer has provided a rental each time. The three dates the vehicle went into the dealer are: 11-08-17, 12-02-17 and 12-19-17. I filed a case with nissan under case #29147756 and gave them a copy of the title showing that it was purchased through my family's business, burkins & foley. On the morning of november 7, 2017, the front/sliding portion of the sunroof on my 2015 nissan murano spontaneously exploded while i was driving down i-5 in seattle, wa, at the posted speed (60 mph). The sound of the explosion was deafening (i thought that a gunshot had been fired at my vehicle, and/or i had had a catastrophic tire blowout). Luckily the retractable fabric "shield" between the sunroof and the interior of the vehicle was deployed, and the shattered glass did not fall on me. I was able to pull off the freeway and prevent large chunks of glass from flying into on-coming traffic. I subsequently reported this incident to my insurance company, and the sunroof was replaced by my insurer (the cost of the replacement glass was approximately $1500; i paid a $250 deductible, and the insurance company paid the rest).

I was driving my certified pre-owned 2015 nissan murano with my 1 year old daughter in the back seat, a car that i just purchased 2 weeks ago when the front half of the panoramic sunroof suddenly exploded. I was not under an underpass, there were no cars right next to me. It sounded like a gun shot & glass came shattering down the front & back seat where my daughter was in her car seat. This was an absolutely terrifying, dangerous experience that could have ended a lot worse. I consider my daughter & i lucky that we were not injured but from what i have read, this is not an uncommon occurrence. Cvt shudders at low speeds 20 - 40 mph, the feeling is as if the gears are jamming and banging against each other; immediately releasing accelerator and pressing for harder acceleration temporary suppresses this behavior. Any inclines where car slows down and rpm falls can lead to reoccurrence of the same. Happens 2/3 times when these conditions described above happen. I believe the 'd'-step artificial shifter technology is going out of sync with rest of transmission rotation speed and causing the gears to grind during those d-step adjustments.

Less than 48 hours of ownership and viva nissan of el paso tx would not take back this vehicle that has a horrible glare reflection from the sun when the stylized hood angles reflect back light into the vehicle and against other dash chrome accents. Dealer did, however, send us to his "favorite" auto tint shop, universal tinting in el paso tx. They were told by the dealer to put on a 70% optik nano ceramic tint across the windshield and send the nissan dealer the bill of $100. That company did such a rush job and left bubbles and visual impression of viewing through a fishbowl, not to mention the slime residual from the application that was left all across the leather dash board. 82 hours after purchase we reviewed that 70% is not street legal in new mexico where the car dealer knew we resided, so we took the car to a nm window tint company who will be removing the "dirty job" (as they described it) and will do a clean, clear job using 80% ceramic type product (blue air 80 bl sr hpr). Firstly, why after less than 48 hours did the dealer, viva nissan of el paso texas not follow our request to freeze the funding and let us return the 2015 murano and select another less dangerous vehicle to drive? Secondly, why would a 3rd party window tinting company offer a solution that was not street legal in our residing state? And most importantly, why isn't nissan building these overglassed, over classed, over styleized vehicles with such repeating complaints of glare without providing a factory solution to the windshield or paint coating? I guess it could be worse, our transmission could blow if it's one of the unlucky ones from a certain timeframe when nissan factories were trying to save a dime and installed cheaper parts. Hmmm.

He took his car in to nissan for all his oil changes and everything else that they suggested. He mentioned the problem but they could not find anything. I took it to goodyear and had the ejectors cleaned and spark plugs replaced but this did not solve the problem. Goodyear offered to take it to nissan to be checked on their computer. They determined i needed a new transmission. This car is five years old with 75,000 miles! After researching the issue, i found that this has been an ongoing problem with nissan's cvt transmission. I am angry and frustrated. I have a car i am afraid to drive. I believe this should have been fixed through a recall or an extension of the original warranty. This has happened to many people. It's time for the issue to be resolved. My husband took the car to nissan faithfully for oil changes and anything else that came up. They never once mentioned a problem with the transmission.

I took it to goodyear and had the ejectors cleaned and spark plugs replaced but this did not solve the problem. Goodyear offered to take it to nissan to be checked on their computer. They determined i needed a new transmission. This car is five years old with 75,000 miles! After researching the issue, i found that this has been an ongoing problem with nissan's cvt transmission. I am angry and frustrated. I have a car i am afraid to drive. I believe this should have been fixed through a recall or an extension of the original warranty. This has happened to many people. It's time for the issue to be resolved. My husband took the car to nissan faithfully for oil changes and anything else that came up. They never once mentioned a problem with the transmission.

Two times in the past month i have experienced the same problem while driving on interstate roads. My gas gauge and trip monitor indicated i had about 60 miles until empty then after driving a few miles it said about 30 miles to empty and shortly after that car started sputtering and losing power and i had to make emergency moves to keep from getting hit. Both times i was able to pull unto the shoulder and drive a short distance to a gas station to fill the tank which took only slightly over 15 gallons and the tank holds 19 gallons. I have found the identical complaint on several web sites and there does not seem to be any help from nissan or even an admittance that the problem exits. I just returned from my dealer in naples, fl. And all they could tell me was that no error codes were showing and i could not expect the gauge to be accurate at all times since it is constantly recalculating and changing distance to empty. That really has nothing to do with the problem since the car was apparently not out of gas and in the past i have put over 18 gallons in the tank so i am certain it was not out of gas. I believe there must be a problem with the pickup tube, sensors or a combination of both. Having your vehicle suddenly stall in front of a semi truck is no laughing matter and we were lucky to have escaped without a major accident. Nissan campaign : pc482 on 9/92016 took vehicle in to have abs actuator checked. It was within range for recall. Part was ordered. Week of 9/192016, received call from dealer central appointments (sheehy nissan waldorf) telling me part was in and was given appt on 9/23/2016 to have abs actuator replaced. On 9/23, at dealership, i was told nissan is not replacing abs actuator as called for in campaign unless it has leaked and abs light is on. This is a part non-conformance issue. When seal allows leak, it drips on circuit board which will cause a fire. Remedy is to park vehicle, call for tow and get rental. This is unsafe and remains so. Nissan recall states "your nissan dealer will inspect the serial number of the abs actuator, and if it is within the affected range, the dealer will replace the abs actuator with a new abs actuator at no cost." my actuator is within affected range and nissan is not complying with their own recall remedy.

I received a recall notice for the front passenger seat ocs (16v244000). The dealer completed the service. Shortly after the vehicle began to exhibit the same symptoms again. The passenger side air bag off indicator light was on even though there was a 160 lb. Person in the seat. This did not happen all the time but periodically. I just had the vehicle in for service again and reported the problem still exists. The dealer had someone sit in the passenger seat and the light did not come on at that time. They simply gave me a sheet of paper telling me how the light works which is no different than what the manual says. They said the person sitting in the seat had probably not been sitting right causing the system to think no one was in it? There is still a problem with the passenger side airbag sensor, despite the initial recall. The problem does not happen all the time but it does happen periodically.

There is no way to use cruise control without the interactive feature. You can only set the follow distance at 200', 100' or 50'. I noticed that my passenger airbag off indicator light was illuminated when i was sitting in the passenger seat. It would happen intermittently. Nissan issued a recall for the airbag and i took the car in to have it serviced and assumed it was a related issue. After the recall was completed, the same issue of the light occurred intermittently. I returned the car to nissan who replaced the entire airbag module. After that, i still noticed the light would intermittently be on while there was a passenger in the seat. Specifically, myself or my daughter. Both of us are 110-120 lb adults. I again returned the car to nissan who admitted that there is no definite weight that will activate the airbag and the 110-120 range is indeterminate. The suggestion was that i pull over and restart the car to reset the system to recognize a passenger in the seat. I am unable to establish any pattern of what causes it to happen. It seems very random. Occasionally when at a stop light, the car will recalculate and activate the airbag. I would estimate 40% of the time a passenger is in the seat, the light illuminates to indicate the airbag is off. I feel this is a faulty and dangerous design. No one disclosed when i bought the car i may not have airbag protection. Initially i was told the weight setting was anything greater than 70lbs would activate the airbag which is reasonable to protect smaller infant passengers that shouldn't be in the front seat to begin with. But adults and teens over 70lbs should have reliable and consistent airbag protection. I do have videos of myself in the passenger seat with the airbag light while we are driving on the highway if needed. I am disappointed and shocked nissan does not feel this is a safety concern.

Nhtsa recall 16v-244, the occupant classification system software, notified 6/16, dealer attempted to correct the problem in june, july, sept., oct., nov., and advised me in dec. That there was no "fix", at that time i was turned over to nissan consumer affairs, case#24846736, in late dec. I was advised that nissan would decide to either buy the car back or replace it in 10 days; that period has passed and they are blaming the dealer for not sending work orders, but i verified they were sent twice and nissan misplaced them. The car is unsafe to drive with a passenger and i feel that i am just getting the "run-a-round". I have photos but don't know how to attach them.

About 50% of the time the ocs system does not turn the passenger air bag on if the engine is started prior to an adult being seated in the passenger seat and continues to stay off if the vehicle is placed in motion. If you stop the engine and then restart the air bag is then turned on. The ocs system in this vehicle has been reprogrammed as per nhtsa recall 16v-244. The other passenger air bag issues were resolved, however the problem described above has not been corrected. It matters not how far you drive or the type of road the passenger bag will not turn on again until the engine is turned off then restarted.

Ocs recall to have the computer reset for the passenger airbag indicator light. I have the exact systems as some others in the complaint section with this recall. Which is the light does not always go off when someone is siting in the passenger seat. It is an intermittent problem. I have notified the dealer about it but they couldn't do anything since it is a firmware issue that nissan will have to patch again and notify dealers by a tsb plus i did notify nissan customer service about the issue but they gave the usual run around answer go back to the dealer etc. Because you are dealing with a customer service rep not an engineer who can actually fix the problem. Started about 1 1/2 weeks ago (approx 2900 miles on the odometer), first time wasnt expecting it and hoped it was just a fluke, 2nd time it happened early my daughters were with me and asked what was wrong with the car when it happened, and then again the other morning at the end of my 45 min ride into work. Each time it happened was when i was merging from an on ramp into traffic. The last occurance, and i believe the others as well, i was going approx 35mph, staying steady on the speed looking for a spot in traffic to merge into, giving it gas and started my merge only to feel and hear no change in rpm or speed, giving it more and more petal, and still no change in speed at all, after avoiding the other driver that almost hit me because of it, i moved back over and had a moment and tried again to get into the petal at almost wide open throttle and still no rpm change and no movement up in speed (also still no loss of speed), during each occurrence the car was smooth (no engine bucking just wouldn't respond to gas input). The same symptoms have occured the three times it's occured. The resolve each time was the same, let off the gas for 1-2 secs, give it gas and the car drove again as normal. Dealership has looked at my car with no explination, no trouble codes were generated, and they stated tranny fluid was fine. It acted like the cvt was stuck on a particular band and also wouldn't allow any additional gas, hence no additional speed. The last occurance it was about 35 degrees out. I have tried to reproduce the problem many times with no success at all, and with no codes being generated to point the dealefship to any issue, this is a big safety concern for me and my family as it goes unresolved.

Ir bag deployed but not inflate my wife, my two children 3 and 7 and i were on i 65 n freeway. At around 530am on wednesday, january 20, 2016 while driving our 2015 nissan murano on icy road in nashville, tn area, a suv/truck lost control on the 3rd lane (we were on the fast lane) and came in front of us. My wife was going 50 mph, on icy roads, the roads were terribly bad. The collision was pretty horrific, causing the deployment of all the front air bags and significant front end damage. My serious concern is: the air bag on the passenger side (where i was sitting) deploy but did not inflate, smoke was coming out with a bad odor. I believe this is a major concern, this could have been fatal. Please advise what options do i have at this time.

Consumer writes in regards to vehicle hood and front seats issues. *smd the consumer stated the first issue with the vehicle was a blinding glare that came from the rear of the 3.5 inch hood when the sun was high. The second area of concern was the trim or more importantly the lack of it on the front driver and passenger seats. The side trim on both seats wrapped around the front of each seat and abruptly ended. The consumer stated when a passenger or driver exited the vehicle, the heel of their shoes would occasionally catch on the un-finished end of the trim. In november 2015, the car fuel light came on during a trip. Before i could get to a gas station, the car suddenly became sluggish and would not go over 20 miles per hour. The engine did not turn off indicating it still had gas. I was about a mile and a half from an exit and was able to drive on the shoulder and get to a station and refill the car. I topped it off at 16 gallons (car holds 19). The car ran fine after it was full. This was a dangerous situation given that traffic was moving at 70 miles per hour when the car dropped to 20 miles per hour. I called nissan usa and my dealer and was told they couldn't do anything unless an engine light came on or they could replicate the problem. In march 2016, the car fuel light again came on while on a residential road. While the car registered 35 miles left until empty, the car again became sluggish and would not exceed 20 mph. I drove to a gas station and topped it off at 15.5 gallons. This time, like the last, the car worked normally when it was full. In april 2016, the dealer agreed to replace the two fuel level sensors. Since then i have not had the issue but also have filled up before or immediately after the fuel light comes on. Each time i have only been able to get slightly over 15 gallons in the tank. I have noticed that others have reported similar problems with this model on automotive websites. This issue appears to be a design flaw that could lead to serious injury for those who suddenly lose power on a freeway. Car owners should be warned to fill up immediately if the fuel like comes on.

When overriding the cruise set speed, passing a car the transmission frequently slips and jerks while the vehicle loses speed and the engine rpm increases tremendously, later the transmission reengages violently. Dealer has replaced the transmission with same results. The dealer was informed by the factory rep. That it was a computer problem with the intelligent cruise control and could not be corrected. Factory rep. Has not returned my many phone calls to let me know what they intend to do about the problem.

When overriding intelligent cruise control to pass a car, occasionally the xtronic cvt transmission appears to go into neutral, rpm increases rapidly and car doesn't speed up. Most occasions have been traveling on incline. When transmission re-engages it jerks sometimes very hard. On one instance turned cruise control off and transmission re- engaged. Most occasions have been at speeds 60-65 mph carried car to dealer could not warranty because it did not show up on computer.

Vehicle warning light indicates that the passenger air bag is off with an adult in the seat. Passenger must move around in the seat to find a spot that turns the warning light off. Sometimes the passenger must leave the vehicle and re-enter the seat to get the light off. Even when the light goes out we are not sure the air bag would deploy.

In about half of the drives passenger airbag off signal comes up when an adult passenger is seated in front, this happens for the same passenger. I was told by dealer that the weight limit is set around 120lbs which seems to high for small adults, females especially. This creates a safety hazard as we are using the vehicle with pasenger airbag turned off half the time.

Difficulty with gear shift moving out of park into drive, neutral or reverse. Problem occurs with cold engine and warm engine, always from stationary position. Makes a low sounding clunk after finally moving into gear. Resistance of gear shift to move is not consistent but is frequent (about 7 out of every 10 driving events or 70% of the time) no fluid leakage under vehicle has been observed. Problem has existed with car within months of purchase as new vehicle.

Purchased a new 2015 nissan murano platinum at end of may. Noticed right away when my 95 pound son would sit in front passenger seat, the 'passenger airbag deactivated' light would come on and stay on. We inquired with our local dealer and they said everything was checked out and operating correctly. We were told the new seat sensors were very sensitive and my son needed to 'move around' a bit in the seat to activate the front passenger airbag. That never worked. I started paying close attention to the indicator and noticed that about half the time the front passenger airbag would deactivate when i was in the front passenger seat, and i am 270 pounds! We were about to go back to the dealer again, when we noticed an article in the sunday, september 6, 2015 new york times about this exact same issue in several 2014 nissan models, which prompted this formal compliant.

This could put the driver and passengers at risk in some areas of the country especially in bad weather. Nissan has acknowledged the problem can be repeated in other 2015 muranos but stated they have no timeframe for resolution.

When on a test drive with the new 2015 murano on the highway, i encountered a semi infront of me and to the right of me; a typical everyday occurrence with my 80 mile drive to/from work. This is the point that scared me-- it felt as if the murano was being lifted off the ground and the whole vehicle was floating back and forth, the sales person stated i just caught some draft from the semi's. I stated everyday to/from work 80 miles in a small 4 door car and also a fullsize crewcab truck, the vehicle varies on days. I have never encountered this feeling in 32 years of driving and was very nervous about the situation i was glad the road wasn't wet or icy making me wonder if i would have spun out. I really wanted this new murano but now i am back to square one on the vehicle search. I am not sure if it has to do with the new frontend or lighter design or not. I wanted to inform someone else about this situation so it can be looked into. The dealership said it was nothing and tried talking me into taking it then and there. Of course it turned into i have other cars to test now and as i was walking away i just heard hysterical laughing. Good customer service for a serious customer. Adaptive steering failed at below freezing temperature. Lost ability to steer in a curve and hit another car. After, car could not be driven, as steering was totally inoperative. Steering wheel actually turns 360 degrees over and over with no affect on the front wheels. Poor hood design near the wipers, the inclination of the hood near the wipers reflects the sunlight directly on to the driver eyes and the intensity is so high that it obstructs vision and could lead to fatal front collision and the driver may not assess the distance of braking before the impact in emergency situations. The first occurrence happened to me while driving between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm and the most recent occurrence was when driving on i76 turnpike philly to pittsburgh west bound around 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm the sunlight reflection was causing me discomfort in my vision. This can be avoided by adjusting the seat height all the way to the lowest level and i being 6 ft tall was not a problem in driving at this seat positik . Every driver has a comfort zone of seat level and unfortunately my seating position falls where the reflection causes a serious problem. Nissan has to find a workaround on this issue and has to consider it very seriously and take immediate action. *tr

The forward emergency braking system warning light comes on (this means the sensor is not working and the emergency warning is not working; further you cannot use cruise control when the light is on). This has been a problem from the beginning of owning the car. The dealer tried many times to repair the problem, all unsuccessful. Next the dealer replaced the sensor, and the problem still exists. The warning light comes on when the vehicle has been driven for a few minutes- 5 to 30 minutes after starting.

Passenger air bag is intermittently disabled with passenger in passenger seat. Problem has reocured intermittently numerous times since we purchased vehicle (dec 2014) however dealer says cannot fix until it fail so they can see it. Code no fault found is all they will tell us. Dealer has made no attempt to fix problem other than read codes. No parts replaced, no adjustments made no troubleshooting of any kind as far as i know. Nissan corporate prefers to deny problem exists. Problem occurs with wife in seat as she is frequent passenger. Dealer never ask her to sit in seat to check codes at that time. Have 6 page document that nisan provided that tells one how to sit in seat, more a cya document from nissan. Doc says there may be an object placed under the front seat but if you notice nissan elected to remove the trim on 2015 models that keeps the trash out. Also have copy of december 2015 consumer reports that list this exact problem for another nissan mode, (lower lh corner). Honest dealers will admit there is a problem, ours will not! Dealer hands are tied by nissan usa as they cannot swap parts without corporates approval. Problem occurs just after you start vehicle with passenger in passenger seat, air bag disabled light may go off in 1 min, 3 min or 30 or more min as vehicle is driven. Cannot make it happen or make lightt go off. Am worried if we have accident when air bag is disabled how much protection does my wife have or more importantly much has she lost. Problem occurs both in city and highway driving.
