• Recall 121628 [USA]: Without the proper amount of fasteners, the trailer hitch assembly may separate from the vehicle, and any towed vehicle may no longer be properly connected, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 jeep renegade vehicles manufactured august 25, 2014, to june 25, 2016, equipped with a factory-installed optional trailer hitch package. The trailer hitch assembly may have been attached with only a single fastener per side, not three per side as required.

• Recall 119317 [USA]: If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 jeep cherokee and 2015 chrysler 200, jeep renegade, ram promaster, and 2016 fiat 500x vehicles equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral. On august 29, 2016 chrysler added the 2016 fiat 500x vehicles to this recall.
  chrysler will notify owners, dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module and the transmission control module and if necessary replace the transaxle range sensor wire harness, free of charge. • Recall 108854 [USA]: If the axle moves there could be an increased risk of a crash.
  Daystar products international, inc. (daystar) is recalling certain aftermarket replacement rear control arm brackets included in daystar's 2015-2016 jeep renegade 1.5" spacer kit, part kj09168bk, shipped from daystar to distributors between october 27, 2015 and november 5, 2015. The affected spacers may have improper or incomplete welds on the top flange on the rear control arm bracket, that can allow the rear axle to shift while driving.
  daystar will notify owners, and direct them to repair shops to have the brackets inspected and replaced as needed, free of charge. The recall began on march 11, 2016. • Recall 106734 [USA]: Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2015 jeep renegade vehicles manufactured september 18, 2014, to june 25, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
  chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a usb drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own usb drive from http://www.Driveuconnect.Com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on september 30, 2015. • Recall 2016370 [Canada]: Accessories
  On certain vehicles equipped with an optional factory trailer tow hitch package, the trailer tow hitch may have been incorrectly assembled to the vehicle structure. If operated under this condition, this could cause a partial or complete separation of the trailer tow hitch which would increase the risk of crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and install any missing fasteners to the trailer tow hitch assembly.

• Recall 2016361 [Canada]: Powertrain
  On certain vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, the transmission wire harness may have improper crimps. This could cause an unexpected shift to neutral which could result in a loss of motive power, which in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions may increase the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will update the software of the transmission control module (tcm), and replace the transaxle wire harness as necessary.

• Recall 2015433 [Canada]: Suspension
  On certain vehicles, the bracket fastener for the engine block heater may be too long and could contact the front suspension coil spring, causing wear of the protective coating. If left uncorrected, the front suspension coil spring may corrode over time and fail. Should the front coil spring break, the driver could experience a loss of steering control, and a broken coil spring could contact the tire and cause rapid air loss and/or tire failure, which could affect bringing the vehicle to a controlled stop, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the fastener for the engine block heater bracket and apply corrosion protection to the coil spring.

• Software security vulnerability investigation # RQ15004

  On july 23, 2015, fiat chrysler automobiles (fca) launched safety recall 15v-461 to remedy security vulnerabilities in approximately 1.4 million model year (my) 2013 through 2015 vehicles equipped with uconnect head units (hu) 8.4a (ra3 radio) and 8.4an (ra4 radio) manufactured by harman international.On july 24, 2015, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened recall query, rq 15-004, to investigate hu security vulnerabilities and remedy effectiveness in the recalled population and to determine whether similar units have been supplied for use in other fca vehicles.In an august 11, 2015 letter, fca submitted a second part 573 safety recall report expanding the scope of the uconnect ra4 model radio to include additional 7,810 my 2015 jeep renegade vehicles manufactured from september 18, 2014 through june 25, 2015 (recall 15v-508).Scope analysis indicated that uconnect radios installed in fca vehicles not included in recalls 15v-461 or 15v-508 (subject recalls) are not equipped with built-in cellular access or short range wireless communication features and, thus, do not contain the security vulnerabilities addressed by the subject recalls. Subject vehicles: my2014 through 2015 dodge durango, jeep grand cherokee and jeep cherokee sport utility vehicles; my2013 through 2015 ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and 4500/5500 pickup trucks; my2013 through 2015 dodge viper vehicles; and my2015 chrysler 200, 300, jeep renegade, dodge charger and challenger vehicles.According to fca, long and short range wireless vulnerabilities identified in the recalled vehicles could allow unauthorized third-party access to, and manipulation of, networked vehicle control systems.Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities, coupled with reverse engineering of networked microprocessor control modules, could result in unauthorized manipulation of vehicle control systems. This unauthorized manipulation of vehicle controls and systems could expose the driver, vehicle occupants or other highway users to an increased risk of injury.Fca and its network provider, sprint, conducted a nationwide campaign to block access to a radio communications port that was unintentionally left open.On july 27, 2015, short range wireless vulnerabilities were also blocked.Finally, third party security evaluation and regression testing identified vulnerabilities that were either remedied by sprint or through updates to the fca uconnect software.Odi identified a total of 30 complaints or field reports on unique vehicles submitted by fca (29) or received by nhtsa (1) alleging incidents of theft from a vehicle or anomalous performance that the owner alleged were caused by, or may have been caused by, remote hacking.Twenty-six (87%) of these reports were submitted after a magazine article was published on july 21, 2015, describing the remote hacking of an fca vehicle by researchers who were able to affect the operation of various vehicle control systems, including the service brakes, steering, throttle and ignition.Most of the complaints involved vehicle systems that were not safety critical (e.G., complaints related to radio, navigation system, or air-conditioning control) and did not affect vehicle control.Three complaints reported engine stalls.One owner reported sudden unintended acceleration allegedly related to hacking.None of the complaints or field reports reviewed involved the steering and braking vehicle control effects demonstrated by the research hackers prior to the recall.There were no confirmed incidents of hacking in any of the records reviewed by odi.The remedies completed by sprint and fca appear to have eliminated vulnerabilities that might allow a remote actor to impact vehicle control systems.This recall query investigation is closed; this action does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist. While putting my car in park to exit my vehicle, my emergency parking break activated and would not shut off. I tried resetting the car multiple times. Nothing released the emergency parking break. The car needed to be towed to the dealership where they informed me a "glitch" had happened in the parking system...

Shifter won't work (won't move out of park) after battery dies. My vehicle's battery died at the end of april, we assumed it was just an old battery and had it replaced by aaa. Last week, the battery died again (this also co-occurred with the key fobs not working...If that's helpful). After aaa charged it, we turned it on but it wouldn't shift out of park. We followed the manual instructions to manually shift it into neutral but then we couldn't turn the vehicle off. Eventually it was towed to the dealership while it was still running...And they said that it needs a new shifter (+$1300)?! The vehicle was purchased new and this series of events (battery dying / shifter dying) seems to be a recurring event....In some cases owners have had it happen in really inopportune and even dangerous places. My car will not stay in drive. I was leaving a parking space in a parking lot and when i put it into drive it moved forward and then shifted to neutral on its own. I shifted back to drive and it went back to neutral. If i had been pulling out into traffic, someone could have easily crashed into me because when it shifted into neutral my car no longer had any power and it causes an unexpected slow down.. My car is currently at a mechanic's shop waiting to be repaired. In researching this problem with my car, i have found other jeep renegades and chrysler vehicles with the same problem have been recalled for safety concerns. If my car is doing the same thing, why is it not a safety concern? My car is currently at the mechanic shop it was towed to, waiting to be repaired. At this time, i have no paperwork on repairs.

The transmission bucks when it shifts most of the time when the transmission gets warmed up. It is worrysome and i am worried for my safety.

Since i bought the jeep, it would sometimes shift really hard from 1st gear & that was at 47k miles. Now i am at 55k & it is doing it from 1st, 2nd, & sometimes 3rd. Of course, jeep has made it so that i cannot even check my transmission fluid, much less add any because they made it a closed unit. I'm shocked that with all of the complaints i have seen about the "jerky" "hard shifting" "slipping" that a recall has not been done on this, clearly, flawed transmission system.

My car's radiator fan started rattling and after looking further into the issue, i found endless sources of owners of the same car as me that have had the same issue. If not diligently acknowledged and fixed, the radiator fan motor will eventually go out. This has caused smoking and flames and catastrophic engine damage. The sound happens when my car is idling and stopped in first gear. To avoid these costly and dangerous effects of when the radiator fan motor does fail, i have been unable to drive my car. Class action lawsuit case 2:19-cv-10417-nge-eas has been filed, but no further updates have been released.
