    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2016 pathfinder vehicles. On certain pathfinder vehicles, the secondary hood latch may malfunction and remain in the unlatched, unsecured, position when the hood is closed.

  • Recall 183372 [USA]: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2015 nissan pathfinder hybrid, 2015-2016 murano hybrid, and 2014-2017 infiniti qx60 hybrid vehicles. The hybrid powertrain control module (hpcm) software may shut down the hybrid system and the engine under certain conditions, causing a loss of drive power.
    dealers will reprogram the hpcm software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed march 31, 2022. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are r21b4 and r21b5.

  • Recall 146131 [USA]: Continual illumination of the brake lights can prevent other drivers from realizing the vehicle is actually slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash. with the brake override activated, the driver will not be able to accelerate normally, increasing the risk of a crash. the driver can shift the vehicle out of the "park" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2015 nissan pathfinder vehicles. The location of the brake light switch may cause the brake light switch relay to repeatedly open and close. Overtime, this can cause the relay to stick in the "on" position, with the brake lights remaining illuminated even when the brakes are not applied. Additionally, this may interfere with the brake-shift interlock, allowing the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "park" position, without depressing the brake pedal.
    nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, either re-install the brake light switch or swap positions with the automatic speed control device (ascd) switch; depending on the model year vehicle. In addition, the brake light relay will be replaced with a new one. All repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began march 1, 2021.   • Recall 119649 [USA]: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 nissan maxima, 2013-2016 nissan altima, nv200, leaf, sentra, and pathfinder, 2014-2016 nissan nv200 taxi, infiniti qx60, qx60 hybrid, and q50 hybrid, 2014-2017 nissan rogue and infiniti q50, 2015-2016 nissan murano, murano hybrid, and chevrolet city express, 2014-2015 nissan pathfinder hybrid, and 2013 infiniti jx35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger occupant classification system (ocs) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
    nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet city express owners will be notified by general motors. Dealers will reprogram the air bag control unit (acu) and ocs electronic control unit (ecu) in altima, maxima, murano, rogue, and sentra vehicles, and replace the ocs ecu in leaf, nv200, nv200 taxi, pathfinder, infiniti q50, jx35, and qx60 and chevrolet city express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on may 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available.   • Recall 118766 [USA]: If the ocs does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 altima and pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 nissan sentra vehicles, 2013 infiniti jx35 vehicles, 2014-2015 infiniti qx60 vehicles and 2014 infiniti qx60 hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (ocs) control unit during a repair. These ocs control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.

  • Recall 107866 [USA]: The under-torqued fasteners may result in a brake caliper separating from the wheel assembly causing a reduction in braking performance or reduced steering control. these conditions increase the risk of a crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 nissan pathfinder and infiniti qx60 vehicles manufactured august 14, 2014, to november 5, 2014, and 2014-2015 nissan rogue vehicles manufactured august 12, 2014, to november 15, 2014. During the assembly process, the front wheel hub assembly fasteners may not have been properly torqued.

  • Recall 2021020 [Canada]: Lights and instruments
    Issue: on certain vehicles, the stop lamp switch may not have been installed correctly. Over time, this could cause the stop lamp relay to fail and stick in the on position. If this happens, engine power may be reduced and the brake lights will stay on. Additionally, the vehicle may be started and shifted into gear without pressing the brake pedal. Note: this recall replaces transport canada recall 2016-264. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall require a second inspection. Safety risk: the ability to shift the vehicle out of park without depressing the brake pedal and/or starting the engine without depressing the brake pedal could increase the risk of a crash. Brake lights that stay on could cause other road users not to recognize when the vehicle is braking. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer for an inspection of the stop lamp switch and relay. If the stop lamp relay was deleted during a previous repair, no further action is required. For all other vehicles, the dealer will adjust or move the stop lamp switch and replace the stop lamp relay.

  • Recall 2016179 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
    On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: for affected altima, maxima, murano, rogue and sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected leaf, nv200, pathfinder, q50 and jx35/qx60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.

  • Recall 2015491 [Canada]: Airbag
    Certain vehicles serviced as part of recall 2014-093 or which had the occupant classification system (ocs) module replaced during servicing may have been fitted with an incorrect replacement ocs module. An incorrect ocs module would impair the effectiveness of the ocs, potentially failing to properly classify an adult passenger seated in the front passenger seat. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupant in a crash. Correction: dealers will reprogram the ocs module.

  • Recall 2015056 [Canada]: Wheels
    On certain vehicles, the front hub assembly bolts may not have been tightened to specification. If the bolts were to loosen, the brake caliper could separate from the wheel hub assembly, reducing braking performance and affecting vehicle stability. This could result in an accident causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and torque bolts to specification.

  • Recall 2021613 [Canada]: Powertrain
    Issue: on certain hybrid vehicles, a software error with the hybrid powertrain control module (hpcm) may cause the powertrain to shut down. If this happens, both the engine and electric motor can turn off, and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to reprogram the hpcm.

  • Recall 2016179 [Canada]: Seats and restraints

Since the 1st day of purchasing this vehicle i was experiencing issues with transmission like hesitation, jerking / shuddering / shaking and abnormal whining noise while driving at low speeds. I was not aware about nissan's major cvt issues until recently. Vehicle's braking is affected because of this abnormal transmission's operation as the vehicle does not immediately stop as needed or requested instead often slipping occurs when downshifting to lower gears. Nissan service center was visited once about a year ago or less. I was told that the software for transmission was somehow missing on the vehicle, without explaining how can a vehicle be manufactured without transmission software. After installing the software, the dealership was unable to pin point what is the problem with my vehicle. I was charged about $140 without being provided a clear diagnose, but was told that most likely the car needs a new transmission. Control valve body was replaced since then, however vehicle drives the same exact way. Please, advise how can get assistance from.

I was told that the software for transmission was somehow missing on the vehicle, without explaining how can a vehicle be manufactured without transmission software. After installing the software, the dealership was unable to pin point what is the problem with my vehicle. I was charged about $140 without being provided a clear diagnose, but was told that most likely the car needs a new transmission. On multiple occasions (at least 6 - twice within 10 minutes of each other), when turning after slowing down or being at a complete stop, the car seems to lose power. It will not accelerate unless your foot is taken off the gas pedal and the gas pedal is pressed down again. It a a safety concern because there has been oncoming traffic when this has happened. An accident is bound to occur. The car dealer can't isolate the issue. Their recommendation is to replace the abs module which they think might fix the problem.. The cost is $2100 for the part alone to repair what they hope will fix it. This should absolutely be a recall.

Couple of things, first the front passenger air bag is set to off when there is an adult sitting there, and i have a blinking airbag light, at all times no matter what. Second, there is a loud noise coming from the engine when i turn my heater on. I can also feel the vibration when i'm still. The suv only has about 44k miles. In october 2019, our car started making a rattling sound in the front of the engine. My husband discovered that it stopped when the air system (heating or cooling) was turned off. We took it in to a mechanic and he stated it sounded like the cooling fan assembly. When we first bought the car (2 years ago- used), the first week we had it the cooling fan assembly went bad and had to be replaced. Luckily the dealer we bought it from replaced it without charging us. We were surprised to find out the same system is failing after only 44,000 miles. It failed at 33,000 miles the first time. It was recommended to not drive the car far distances with the air system on as they are unsure what could happen to the assembly or its effect on the engine if it gets worse. They recommend replacing it again. We were surprised this piece should fail twice in the 77,000 miles on the car. Not confident that replacing it is the answer as one would expect it to fail again since there has not been a recall on the part.

I was backing from a parking space when i struck a passing car with the boat hitch on my rear bumper. It was a low-impact collision as we were both moving slowly in a parking lot. After getting out of the car to speak with the other driver, i returned to find that all of the air bags on the passenger side of my car (including front passenger seat and curtains from the front window to the rear) had deployed. No one was in the car at the time of impact but me. None of the air bags on the drivers side of the car deployed. I know nissan has had passenger air bag problems in the past and before the accident, mine often showed that air bags were on when no one was in the passenger seat. Your database says there are no recalls on my vin number so i assume that previous owners had the matter addressed before i bought the car from a nissan dealership in 2018. My circumstance isn't identical to the air bag recall but is certainly ironic. Although i wasn't hurt, the air bags surely didn't help me. The wrong ones deployed and will cost $6,500 to replace. Can you do anything to help me?

I had my transmission flushed at approx. 52k miles on 2/23/2019. In april 2019, the transmission begin having issues. Rpms would ride high; however, transmission would not up-shift. Occurred despite accelerator pressed to the floor. When releasing the accelerator and pressing again, the transmission would jerk and begin to up-shift. Issue is intermittent. Can occur when taking off after stopping at an intersection, and suddenly when smoothly accelerating upon entering freeways. Having safety concerns, i took the vehicle to nissan and explained the issue as noted above on 5/8/2019. Despite telling josh kern the issue was the transmission, i later discovered he recorded the issue as "... The throttle wasn't responsive." he called saying the car was driven 60 miles and the issue was resolved by performing a "idle relearn" and "self learn" software update. Because of this, the vehicle now idled very high. After driving it a few days, the issue occurred again. Reviewing the service doc, i realized the vehicle was only driven 1 mile and not the 60 miles. It also had notes from the technician that "issue could not be duplicated." i returned to nissan to speak to the service manager, but he was not available. While there, i requested all hard-copies of work performed. On one page was written notes about erasing codes, mention of the trans., engine & iacv-aac, ecm on faded print-out of codes. Made other attempts to contact manager with no success. In aug.2019, the dealership gm put me in contact w steve zani (asst. Serv. Mgr.) he was very helpful, but was unable to duplicate issue. High idle from update seems to be masking issue frequency. Called niss con affairs-case36982668. Renee' was no help. Refused to update case or call dealership. Had my name wrong, elusive and short on phone. Worried issue not given proper credence; despite defect and safety concerns.

For approximately the last month there had been a shimmy on the front end. When taking it to be serviced at the nissan dealer there were 13690 miles on the car. The car is primarily driven locally a couple of times weekly because the owner works from home. The service center came back and said there were no front brakes left and was surprised we had gotten in. When asked how this could happen after so few miles the service manager said the driver must have a heavy foot. The driver is a 59 year old woman who only drives locally. The brakes and rotors were replaced. Nissan corporate was contacted. Their customer service manager came back and stated that the brake fluid may have broken down. Both explanations are implausible. A regional customer service manager called today and gave no other explanation but stated since the car was 14 months past warranty they would not be responsible. We have since contacted two acquaintances who are mechanics and both said nissan's explanation is not plausible. This affected only the front brakes and the calipers were unaffected. We can send a copy of the service bill if needed.

Vehicle began issues with no acceleration after coming off of the brakes. Has to double tap brakes to get vehicle to continue to drive. Then it progressed into the tail lights would not shut off after the vehicle was turned off, which would in turn drain the battery. Then it progressed once again into the vehicle would not start as it was not sensing the brake being depressed on a push to start ignition system. The fix was faulty relays known in prior years from 2013-2014 same fault in 2015 model but no active recall. Second issue when a/c system is activated there's a vibration coming off of the fan assembly which causes a loud sound heard while the vehicle is stationary. Also a separate recall on 2013-2014 pathfinder but does not cover the 2015 nissan pathfinder.

I had my transmission changed under warranty after two years and 8 months later i've started to have acceleration problems and the break lights stay on after the vehicle is turned off. From a complete stop my car would not accelerate faster than 10 mph. It has happened several times now. The first time i was on the highway in stop and go traffic and when it was time to accelerate, i was unable to even pressing the gas all the way to the floor. I had to pull over and brake, then hit the gas and it was able to go again. The next time was after braking at a stop sign. The third time was after stopping at a red light. During normal operation, radiator cooling fan makes a buzzing noise when hvac system is turned on to any setting. Upon further inspection, passenger side radiator fan is off balance, causing vibration and buzzing sound. With vehicle turned off, fan blade was verified loss. The vehicle has 30,200 miles. During my research, i have noticed many similar issues with the same vehicle between 30,000 and 50,000 miles. With a background in automotive service and quality engineering, it is my opinion that the amount of vibration is significant enough to eventually contact the radiator or break loose, possibly causing a coolant leak or other underhood damage.

When trying to accelerate after braking for a traffic signal, often i cannot get the car to accelerate past 10 mph. I shift into neutral, back into drive, and can accelerate properly. I have taken my vehicle to wolfchase nissan in bartlett, tn. They are unable to relocate the problem, thus preventing them from addressing the issue. I was told that they had no knowledge of any problem along the lines of what i was telling them. I went back to d'patrick letting them know that whatever they adjusted did not work. I was told that there is nothing they can do. There have been several close calls when turning into traffic and the pathfinder not accelerating.I have learned to be patient when turning on to a busy street because i never know when the pathfinder will not perform the simple duty of accelerating. This vehicle is a huge safety risk to my family and other innocent people on the road. I met someone with the same problem locally and he told me that he filed a complaint on nissan and had the dealership pull up all of the complaints and they admitted that they knew about the problem and that they have a work around for the issue by bypassing a harness system.

While driving my pathfinder on major highways and roads, i would be merging into traffic, turning onto a road and just trying to accelerate. The vehicle often loses all power and decelerates. I have placed the gas pedal all the way to the floor, and yet have no power. It takes at least 10-15 seconds to regain power and be able to accelerate again. Often times i've been close to being rear ended, especially on major highways, with my 2 month old niece in the vehicle with me by tractor trailers. I fear for the safety of myself and anyone in the car with me, as well as other drivers who have potential to rear end me as i lose power. This has occurred on route 70 in new stanton, pa, route 119 (several parts) in greensburg, pa, various locations on route 30 in greensburg, pa, cameo lane, greensburg, pa, twin lakes park, and george's station road in greensburg, pa, as well as route 217 in derry, pa and indiana, pa. This was taken to a nissan dealership in greensburg, pa twince for the same issue, and they haven't been able to replicate the issue, but claimed the first time it was in, that it was a faulty brake switch, and replaced it for $217.00. That did not resolve the issue and it was back into the dealership a week later. I have found several websites, including a news station that covered this issue (with a fatal accident) and nissan has never corrected the problem in any of the cases.

The car began to shake violently, roar and make a very loud knocking noise. I had just started the engine and it was in my garage and stationary. I immediately turned the car off. Later that day, my husband started the car again without issue. He pulled out of our driveway and proceeded less than 100 yards down the road when the noise and shaking started again. On or about january 19, 2019 while attempting to make a left hand turn at the interception of roscoe and woodman ave. In panorama city, california and whereas with no warning nor any indicator light came on either before or after the vehicle stalled when i tried to quickly accelerate but instead the transmission stalled and ended up thrusting the vehicle forward only to leave me the middle of the interception and exposed to the oncoming traffic and of which it came to screeching stop and literally coming within inches of possibly t-boning our vehicle and or causing a serious accident.

I purchased my nissan in august of 2018. It only had a little over 23k miles. On 12/22/2018 i took my vehicle to baron nissan where i purchased it and advised that the vehicle would not accel when speed was below 20 miles per hour. If i attempted to slow down and then begin to accel again the vehicle would not move. It just rolls as i press the gas pedal many times. Then all of a sudden the vehicle would begin to accel. The dealer advised the stop lamp switch needed to be replaced and it was covered under warranty. I left with the vehicle and then two days later i began to have the same issue again. It is random and you never can tell when it's going to happen. This is very dangerous when attempting to get on a highway or making a left turn and the car doesn't accelerate. Car went back to baron nissan on 12/29/2018. The vehicle was checked, driven personally by service manager and i was told they could not find an error code stating what the problem could be. Now i have reviewed this site and see 3 other owners are having the same problem. Now i have recorded my car slip light being on more than on one occasion, my brake lights stay on even when the vehicle is off and i begin to feel the same problem with the vehicle not accelerating. Im trying to teach my son how to drive and car would not accel as he was making a left turn. This problem is a very serious safety issue and nissan needs to get a perminant fix immediately. On 12/22/18 we were leaving the driveway when we heard a loud banging/clicking noise from the cooling fan on the driver side. Have taken it to a local mechanic and they said that the entire cooling fan assemble needs to be replaced. Spoke with cape girardeau, mo nissan dealership and they confirmed that there was a recall on this part for 12-13 nissan pathfinders, but not for the 2015s. They gave me a quote of $730.00 plus taxes to repair. Don't know if vehicle can even be driven because it is unknown as to what the fan is bumping against. Dealer said if it is bumping against the radiator, it could cause a leak or severe damage. If the fan blades are hitting something else, they could break and could cause engine damage. We would need to have vehicle towed about 60 miles to dealership for them to replace the fan assembly.

I have a 2015 nissan pathfinder which i bought brand new in 2015. The current mileage is 39,400. Very recently the radiator cooling fan has started making rattling noise and it appears wobble when fan is running. I have done lot of research during the last few days over the internet and it seems like a common problem with many nissan pathfinder over the years. Also, many people have had it and make complaints to nissan manufacturers directly and they refuse to admit it as a widespread problem. It's a design failure for sure and the fan can break, and may come apart and go into the engine causing major safety issues. I would like to see nhtsa made this a general recall, so no other pathfinder owner has to pay for this repair. This is becoming a serious safety issue.

After hearing rattling under the hood, i took my car to the nissan dealership. They told me that the fan shroud needed to be replaced. This cost is over $900. The dealership told me to call nissan to ask them to pay for the part. The dealership explained that this part is breaking in almost all nissan pathfinders somewhere between 40,000 and 60,000 miles. My car had ~54,000 miles. I had to fight with nissan to cover the cost of the part. They originally only wanted to cover 80%, which i found to be unacceptable, since it was clearly a manufacturing problem. I would like the nhtsa to issue a recall so no one else has to go through this to get the part fixed. I was lucky my dealership was honest about the problem being a widespread pathfinder problem. I would hate for someone else to have to pay so much money for a manufacturing defect.

I would like to report a problem with the radiator and condenser fan malfunctioning. I was looking online and i'm not the only way there are thousand of people complaining the same. Looks like they did it on purpose as they all seem to failed around the same mileages. 40k to 50k. And for a pc of plastic it is really expensive.Just the part itself is 288.00 dollars. That is more than the cost of a regular window ac. Please look online for the problem you will see multiples forums complaining of this. Sometimes people are trying to fix them irreplaceable them on their own as nissan charge more than 1000 thousand to fix this. Repeat looks like they are doing it on purpose. During acceleration there is a sudden complete loss of power. Engine doesn't turn off and the rpms do not rise. The power will come back within a few seconds. I was on a surface street making a left hand turn onto to an access road the first time it happened. My 2015 nissan pathfinder was purchased in nov. 2018. It's been in the nissan shop numerous times since nov. We have issues with the transmission studdering/delayed acceleration. It cant be reproduced on demand so it's hard to diagnose. You have to let off the gas before it will go properly. Also, the cooling fan assembly has been replaced twice within 1 month with new parts . This 3rd time one of the fans will not continue to blow. I've read online that these 2 issues are very common with this vehicle. I have a 2015 nissan pathfinder. The vehicle has 53k miles and essentially the radiator/ a/c condenser fan assembly started making a grinding (metal to metal, knocking noise. For sure the fan blades are out of balance, i have not seen any broken fan baldes or tips. I've read some complaints from other pathfinder owners and it seems to be a defect from nissan. So far the issue seems start happening at around 50k miles and up. For the fan(s) to give out at 50k miles seems to me a little more r&d should have been applied. So far i've only seen the 2015 models with the issue. By the way, the vehicle has never been in an accident... All factory, untouched... Unrelated but does anyone else's abs brake unit make a loud whining noise? I remember the the vehicle was new, the noise was at a bare minimum. As the miles climb up so does the noise...

When i took it in, the dealership said it is a "warped cooling fan" and that if it breaks completely will not cool the engine and will cause the engine to fail as well. I am having issues with the visors in my 2015 nissan pathfinder. They are both broke and hang down in front of my line of vision. Nissan will not repair these. I have replaced both and they have broken in the exact same spot again. Making it difficult to see the road. I have had to remove them and cannot afford to pay for the repairs again. Tl* the contact owns 2015 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, an abnormal noise was heard coming from the air conditioner unit when it was turned on. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for routine service when it was determined that the coolant fan had failed. The dealer town north nissan (9160a research blvd, austin, tx 78758 (512)-451-7411) was contact in regards to the failure and informed the contact that a diagnosed fee had to be charged in order for the dealer to diagnosis and repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirm there were no recalls under the vin. The failure mileage was 67,796.

Both my sun visors have failed after only 61000 miles. The driver's side visor lost its ability to stay in either the up or fully forward situation resulting in it falling down in front of my vision while i was driving down the highway. The passenger side visor is almost at the same stage of failure. It hangs down 2 inches from the top of the roof. Multiple times passengers have hit their face on the visor when leaning forward. After talking with the nissan dealership's parts department, they indicated that situation is not abnormal. The parts person said he was in a similar situation with his pathfinder. I ended up replacing the drivers side visor since it was blocking my vision while driving. Soon the passenger side visor will need to be replaced. As you can see from the attached pictures the visor design is sub-par and should be redesigned and provided to customers.

At 32,000 miles, a loud noise was heard from the engine area when air conditioning was on. Upon investigation, the drivers side radiator fan was rubbing against the shroud. Complete cooling fan module needed to be replaced. Item was not covered under warranty, dealer repair was $1,000 so it was repaired at the local shop for $600. I had previously owned a 2013 pathfinder and it had the exact same problem at 45,000 miles. Seems to me like a design issue.

The cooling fan failed at less than 50,000 miles. This product is flawed and should be investigated. Dealer sells a fan assembly for 800.00 plus labor. This is a ridiculous fee for a cooling fan. I was able to buy the part for 300 online and correct this issue myself but the price is still higher than it should be. This fan should not be failing this early in the vehicle life span.

The sun visors are poorly engineered and are easily broken through normal operation. The visor was placed against the windshield to block the sun, while driving, the visor pivoted downward and blocked the driver's field of view. This is a common problem as one can easily see with a quick web query. The driver's side visor would not stay up. It began with not going all the way up, but eventually hung straight down and could not put it in any other position. It hangs in front of your face and cannot see to drive. We attempted velcro to attach it to the roof, but it would all of a sudden give way dropping on my head (i am short and close to the windshield) or in front of my husband's face where he could not see. It drops down with no warning (pressing on brakes, turning, etc). Nissan reported this has happened in other nissan pathfinders, but there is no recall at this time. Transmission when pressing on the gas happens anytime at any speed, the whole car shakes and the vehicle doesn't want to speed up. Was merging onto highway and pressed on the acceleration just a little bit and the vehicle did not want to speed up. All it did for a few seconds was shake and shimmy the vehicle. Felt like the transmission was having issues. This started to happen at 30,000 miles with the vehicle that was just barely 2 years old. Brought to dealership and was told nothing is wrong with transmission but an outdated software for cvs trasnmisssion, they updated it and the vehicle has way higher rpms when you press the gas every so little and the transmission still does the same issu as before. Nissan still states nothing is wrong. I beg to differ when i'm getting on the interstate and the whole vehicle shakes and doesn't want to move and almost caused a crash by being hit when vehicle won't speed up but wants to shake and shimmy the entire vehicle for a few seconds then go is a safety issue!

I was driving my 2015 nissan pathfinder on the expressway with my wife in the passenger seat and 2 kids (8 & 9) in the rear seat. I had the sunroof closed but the shade screen open. All of a sudden there was a loud bang and the sunroof glass shattered. Then myself, wife and kids got showered from some of the broken glass while i was still driving. When this happened my wife and kids were scared and screaming and i quickly managed to close the shade screen and pull to the highway shoulder. After searching online i have learned that this is not an uncommon issue with sunroofs, specifically nissan. I have since called my insurance who will cover the damage and also filed a claim with nissan to see if they will cover the damage.

The inside front drivers' and passenger side door handles repeatedly break and need to be replaced. This is a known issue among pathfinder owners as well as nissan dealers. When broken, the front driver and passenger cannot exit the vehicle unless the doors are unlocked and then opened from the outside. Again, when broken, and they break repeatedly, the driver and passenger cannot exit their own door, which seems like a safety issue. We've replaced both door handles once, and have to replace the passenger's handle a second time. The first time this happened, the car was at 20,000 miles. It's now at 70,000 miles, and has happened for the third time.

After applying brakes before making a left hand turn, pressing on the gas pedal yielded no results, no acceleration, no rpm movement, pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floorboard yielded no results. Only after stepping off of gas pedal and reapplying the brakes then pushing gas pedal did the car return to normal operations. This has been an intermittent problem and has almost caused several accidents. Believe it to be related to the brake relay which is why it will not throw a code.

Radiator cooling fan is loose and makes a loud banging noise when the a/c is on.This started around the 38k mileage mark. This happens when stationary or when vehicle is in motion. Sometimes it'll go weeks without any problems. I've noticed that making sharp turns can set off the wobbling fan, causing weeks of annoying, loud, and quiet embarrassing blunder as if i were banging pots and pans together. If you turn a/c off, the noise stops. When inspecting the fan with a/c off, the fan is very wobbly and appears to bang against other parts resulting in the loud noise. Please help!!!

While driving down a 2 lane road (chenal parkway near margeaux in little rock, ar)at approximately 45 mph the sunroof suddenly popped and shattered causing glass to fall in to the car on to myself and my dog riding in the passenger seat. My 12 year old daughter and our other dog were in the back seat. This section of this street is somewhat hilly. No potholes were in the road. One other vehicle was in view at time of incident. A very clean (no dirt or debris on it)newer model pickup truck was approximately 5 car lengths in front of us. It was approximately 6:30 pm on 3/13 and skies were sunny and clear. We searched the exterior and interior of the car and the road in the area and could find no explanation for the break. Fortunately no one was injured.

This vehicle has 59,800 miles on it, driving home from work the vehicle started riding really rough and engine started making a knocking sound. Drove it straight to nissan to have it looked at. Technician called the next morning to inform me it has a bad fan motor assembly. Its is a known issue and parts are on back order for weeks. Nissan is well aware of this issue with the 2015 pathfinder but still makes the consumer pay all or part of the repair. Only after complaining did i receive an offer to pay 70% of the repair. Although i am grateful for the offer i still do not feel i should be responsible for any of the cost on a known issue of a part being defective. Hopefully they will soon issue a recall and others wont have to go through what i am going through. I am very disappointed in the quality of the product and the cost i will incur to have it repaired.

At intermittent times while driving the vehicle will not accelerate when you push on the gas, this is very dangerous not only to me but to other people because it has almost caused accidents . When this occurs the traction control light will come on and remain lit until the car is restarted. Also the brake lights will stay light . It has been taken to the dealership where no codes could be found, on 05/02/2018 it was taken back to the dealership after many calls to nissan motors about this problem they gave me a reference case # of 30341997 all this was given to the dealership to try to find the problem a second time after they were contacted by nissan and myself. After 7 hours of having my car for diagnostics i was told it appears to be a factory defect that needs 3 parts ordered to do a work around. Two new wiring harnesses and a switch that will allow them to bypass brake switch relay and reroute to body control module , i was told this would cost and additional $500 plus on top of the $121.62 i already paid for the diagnostics i do not think a consumer should have to pay for a factory defect firstly, then how is this work around going to affect the safety of my vehicle for myself and others? Also nissan must be well aware of this problem for them to already have manufactured these parts to do a work around to correct it. Are they trying to risk people lives to save a dollar? So in summery i have an acceleration problem that is going to get someone killed traction control issue that i have no idea if it is working correctly or not or if it is going to be disabled. Brake lights that stay on when driving when this happens that other drivers can't tell if i am applying the brakes or not. Don't like the idea of having such a new model car have a safety issue workaround done on it that it was not designed for.

Every nissan dealership around columbia, sc does not have the part in stock due to it being on backorder. This is for both factory and aftermarket. No dealership knows when nissan will even provide the factory part. With the excessive rate of nissan & also infinity's dropping due to this same issue and the demand for this part, i believe it should be investigated asap. It is apparent that this is a faulty part on these model vehicles. This is a safety issue because this for certain can lead to larger problems. There are 3 nissan locations not far. Hello, last night i had to help my sister with her nissan altima 2013 because when she shifts her car from park to reverse or drive the altima stalls and will not drive. When i popped the hood i noticed that her battery was in very bad shape. It was heavily corroded. I cleaned it and tried, but the same symptoms happened. The altima would stall. We ended up replacing the battery. That was her third battery to be replaced. Why is that? Her altima is only 75k miles. This morning i decided to check our 2015 pathfinder to find the same symptoms. My battery was corroding. I decided to clean the battery and add a battery grease to mitigate corrosion in the future. I checked the internet blog regarding this issues and its evident that nissan has issues with their car batteries corroding. Can nissan explain what is going on with this corroding batteries? Radiator fan assembly. My vehicle is at appx 41k miles. A few weeks a loud metallic clanking noise began emanating from the engine compartment. Our mechanic identified the issue as the driver side radiator fan (this model has 2 fans housed in one assembly) hitting the assembly shroud. The bearings have malfunctioned causing the blade to rotate off axis. If the blade shears off or breaks it would likely puncture the radiator assembly which could lead to overheating or fire. Nissan has not addressed this as a recall issue, though there are numerous reports of a similar problem in nissan owner forums. This whole dual fan assembly must be replaced, but the problem has occurred so often that the assembly is not available. Mine was ordered on feb 9th. There is no release date for the part from nissan.

2015 nissan pathfinder sometimes will not go when the gas pedal is pressed from a stopped position. 3 different times this has happened to me and my wife. This is an extremely dangerous situation. It happened the last time as we were trying to cross four lanes of traffic at an intersection.As the light turned green and we tried to go it only idled across the intersection we got it to the dealership asap it's been there a week so far. I was involved in an accident where another car clipped the back bumper of my pathfinder going trough an intersection. It was enough to deploy my curtain airbags on the drivers side and the seat air bag in the drivers seat, but did minor damage to the back bumper on the drivers side. But, after everyone was out of my pathfinder, a police officer noticed a fire inside the pathfinder. It was located on the panel between the drivers side door and the back door on the drivers side. I don't have pictures (i didn't think to take any) and my insurance company is handling the police report and all the details, but the officer asked me to report this issue to you so i am.

When starting from stop ( at a stop sign or traffic light) the vehicle periodically will not accelerate. The vehicle has been in the shop two times now with no change. The first time it was in they did a software update and thought that would correct it, it did not. The second time they said it was because the vehicle was in 2wd and it was wet out. While driving my vehicle on the roadway (speed - 40 m.P.H.), the hood opened and obstructed my view. By the grace of god, i was able to safely stop the vehicle and re-secure the hood. The damage to the fenders was extensive and will need to be replacedd, as well as the hood latch mechanism. A police report was not completed. Possibly related to the past year models nissan cvt issues. 2015 pathfinder with less than 10k miles under 2 years old transmission failure. My wife was driving on the highway with my 3 kids (4 year, 2 year, and 1 month old) when the vehicle stop accelerating. She was lucky enough to pull over to the shoulder safety. When she tried to restart the vehicle, the vehicle would not move when it was in drive mode or low gear. The vehicle however did move in reverse. My whole family was stuck on the side of a fast moving highway, without me, until i was able to leave work, an hour away, to get to their location and safety get all the kids and my wife to a safer location. Towed the vehicle to the dealership where we bought the car and they said that they have to replace the transmission. The issues may stem from the same issue in previous model pathfinders and other vehicle models with nissan's cvt in them. Less than 10k miles on a brand new vehicle. This pertains to 16v244000... With the exception of starting the vehicle, i had never seen this light come on until recently. My pathfinder is largely used to move my children (both under the age of 4) to and from activities and run errands. 90% of the time i am driving there is no one in the front passenger seat. My wife rides upfront for family road trips and on the weekends. It was just recently that the light came on while she was in the seat alerting me to the faulty sensor. I called my local nissan dealer and was advised that they did have a solution to this recall and could fix the issue that week. I took the car and waited patiently. Upon exiting the service center and getting ready to turn onto a major highway i noticed that the light was on... Figuring someone had forgotten to reset something i turned around and returned to the dealership. There i was advised that, from now on, my passenger airbag warning light would remain on unless someone over 50lbs was seated in the passenger seat. I was shocked and complained to the service tech but was informed that nissan had decided that cars with this issue would have a permanently disengaged passenger airbag if the seat was not occupied. I firmly believe that, rather than fixing this issue correctly with the same but functioning oem parts, nissan has decided to implement a recall fix that saves them time and money. I tried getting accustomed to this warning light but it is the same color as my blind spot warning alerts so seeing it my peripheral vision is a constant distraction. I believe that the fix offered will ultimately make drivers ambivalent to the blind spot system and lead to a higher collision rate. *tr

When driving and pushing the gas the car will not go, it seems it gets stuck and the car just doesnt move, after pushing the gas hard a few times and sitting in the middle of traffic the car then goes. I had problems with my air bag sensor ever since i bought the car. Every once in a while when i had a passenger in the front seat the air bag would deactivate. Originally the service manager stated that my purse must be to heavy and is knocking out the calibration. The second time i got a lesson on how to sit in the seat properly. Finally, nissan admitted there was a problem and announced the recall. Since it was happening more and more frequently the dealer put me on the top of the list to call when they received the parts. Saturday i finally was able to bring the car in for the air bag ocs sensor recall repair. When i picked the car up after the service i noticed that the passenger air bag warning light stayed on continuously. According to the manual "after placing the ignition switch in the on position, the supplemental air bag warning light illuminates. The supplemental air bag warning light will turn off after about 7 seconds if the system is operational". I went back inside and mentioned it to the service manager and was told that was the fix that nissan implemented. The warning light is now on constantly unless someone is in the passenger seat. This does not seem right and goes against everything in the nissan manual. Additionally, having a warning light on at night in the vehicle is a distraction.

My wife and i left our home and drove our nissan pathfinder into the city on 27th street going into milwaukee, and our sun roof exploded, showing glass shards down on us with no warning, no rocks, or no debris on the road to be seen anywhere. Our dealer says call your insurance. However after reading several forums, i see the this has happened to other drivers and want to file a complaint. When we went to pick up the car, it still had shards of glass scattered throughout the interior and glass was still laying on the exterior top of the car. We were very disappointed with the dealer and our insurance company on their handling of the incident.

While driving our pathfinder in stop and go traffic, i've started to notice and feel a juddering & jerking motion coming from the transmission/powertrain every time i depress or press on the gas pedal at between speeds of 15 to 40 mph. I plan to report this to nissan along with a couple more issues like the crackling sound coming from the front suspension usually after reversing back out of a driveway then moving forward while slightly turning the wheel back to a straight position. Could be a bearing issue, racking pinion or possibly the brake issues that have been recalled. I will also report the constant announce of a crackling sound coming from the wood paneling around stereo and air condition controls. Last but not least the scary & visible shaking of the front hood while driving at speeds of over 80mph. This violently shaking from the hood will certainly let you know that if you go any faster chances are the hood will fly off or cause serious damage to the vehicle or possibly cause an accident. There is no doubt in my mind that this is issue is clearly an aero dynamic flaw. How can they not have been aware of this possible serious safety issue ?

While taking off from 0-20mph the car will hesitate and jerk. Took the vehicle to nissan service dept. Back in may 2016 and they could not find nothing wrong with car. Now it has been happening more frequently and we took it back on 11/18/16 and the service dept. Said they still can't find nothing wrong with vehicle because there are not check engine code popping up, so they needed permission to have a service tech take it home to see if he can see what we are experiencing and will follow up with us tomorrow. I believe this problem started back in early 2015 when we bought the car, but it would only happen so rarely that i never thought about it until my wife who drives it every day brought it up to my attention.

I purchased the vehicle in july, 2015. The passenger side airbag light came on several times while a passenger was in the front seat shortly after i got the car. During my first routine service appointment on feb. 1, 2016 i mentioned it to the service tech and they checked but couldn't replicate the problem. However, they performed a zero reset at that time. The airbag light came on again on 3/11, 4/9, and 4/30 while a passenger of proper weight and height was seating in the seat. Additionally, on 4/20 the seat belt indicator light was lit in the instrument panel even though there was no passenger in the car and the driver was buckled up. I took it back to the service station today, 5/7, for these problems. They stated that there are no open recalls on my vehicle and they couldn't duplicate the problem. This is now the second time my car has been in for service for the same problem and nothing was found to be wrong. I now drive with my cellphone next to me and take pictures every time this occurs.

There have been several incidents where a full size adult passenger has been riding in the front passenger seat and the airbag sensor does not detect the adult and turns off the airbag. There have been times wher the vehicle is parked and when the passenger gets in, before the car is started, once the car is started, the airbag is already off before we leave. Other times in the middle of driving the air bag will just turn off. Something is remains on for the whole trip until the vehicle is turned off once we reach our destination, other times the light will turn off and the airbag turns back on before we arrive at our destination. I contacted my local nissan dealer and was told, yea, they are real sensitive and if the light is activated the air bag is turned off and will not work. Brought my vehicle in today and insisted they look at it. Said they would do a zero reset on the system and see if that will fix it. Most recent incident was april 17, 2016. It started with the dreaded hesitating/jerking thing i have read about nissan cvt trannys. The dealership stated it was a valve inside the transmission, and not the tranny itself. How is a valve inside the transmission not be a part of the transmission?!?! They needed to replace it and it will take approximately 3 days. They said if it might or might not solve the problem. I worked with nissan last year to resolve an issue that i had with a pathfinder airbag issue (nissan case 19556126). 'the original vehicle was replaced and i've had the bad luck of getting a 2015 pathfinder with the same issue. 'i've had this vehicle since late november of 2015, it has approx. 3700 miles on it and is already exhibiting issues with the passenger airbag. 'it has been in 3 times with document (videos) instances where the airbag off light is on, while driving with a person weighing more than 100lbs in the passenger seat. These are intermittent issues. One time i drove with the airbag off light on from cleveland to richfield 'approx. 30 miles. I feel that this is a serious safety issues that could result in serious injury or death if it is not fixed. 'it still is not resolved. 'joel tanner, has been my contact at airport nissan (440-884-7800) where the car came from and has been serviced. He stated that they could not find an issue with the vehicle's airbag. 'the vehicle has also been in for engine light issues which for the time have been resolved. We were driving at 35 miles/hr on a city street and suddenly our sunroof exploded. We heard a loud sound like a bomb went off and we were in shock and suddenly we saw glass shattered all over me my seats and we were in awe. My daughter and wife were in the back as well. Our 2015 pathfinder has an issue where when the passenger seat is occupied with an adult passenger, the passenger side airbag will not activate. (indicator light for pass airbag off is illuminated) sometimes it will activate after several minutes of driving, other times it will not activate until the car is turned off and back on again. Also, sometimes if the seat is not occupied, the passenger side airbag will be activated. We notified the dealership of the issue during a service in late 2015 and we were told that the passenger should wait to enter the vehicle until the vehicle is started. There wasn't any change regardless of how we entered the vehicle. We took the car to the dealership for diagnosis in early 2016 and they didn't find any diagnostic issues. They "reset" the passenger seat weight sensor and said everything was good. Today we drove the vehicle and the passenger side air bag did not activate again with a passenger occupying the seat. This could be a serious safety issue if the air bag does not deploy in an accident.

The glass shards were not contained and entered the vehicle, collapsing on both driver and occupants. The driver was temporally incapacitated as the glass fell on her head and face. Have a 2015 nissan pathfinder where the "airbag is off" passenger light keeps coming one when an adult passenger weighing more than 150 lbs is properly seated wearing the seatbelt properly. This has happened several times (10+ times). I have had it to the nissan dealer twice with the most recent date being february 2, 2016 for this issue. Nissan dealer runs tests but is unable to find issue. Filed complaint with nissan on february 4th and was told that they talked to the dealer and there is no problem. I have it on video where i am sitting properly in the passenger seat with seatbelt properly on with the car being driven down the expressway at approximately 65 mph and the "airbag is off" light is on. It is now a safety issue because i would hate to get in an accident with anyone sitting in the passenger seat.

Since the purchase of the vehicle, my nissan pathfinder has failed to accelerate either at a stop or during normal speed. The engine would not stall, but would only accelerate almost at idle speed. The symptom of the problem would occur a couple of time then the slip indicator light would display and stay on until the car was shut down and restarted, i have several pictures demonstrating the issue as described for when the indicator slip light for the limited slip control would display in clear conditions. This would occur in ideal weather conditions and road conditions were clear and my foot was definitely not engaging the brake pedal. This presents a significant safety issue, especially when attempting to pull into oncoming traffic or attempting to pass a slower vehicle. I could depress the gas pedal to the floor with no impact on acceleration. I have had several near misses with oncoming traffic due to failure to accelerate. I took in the vehicle into d-patrick nissan in evansville, indiana several times and to andy mohr nissan, indianapolis indiana. In both cases, the dealership was unable to detect any issues with code errors or replicate the issue even after i provide photo evidence of the issue i was having. The failure to accelerate is so random and can happen several days in one week or at least once a week. When it does happen i know it will not change until i can shut down the vehicle and restart. Some instances the failure to accelerate would persist but most of the time is would correct itself after restarting. I am afraid to drive the car with my wife and three children in it. I finally decided to file a complaint after i found another nissan pathfinder owner who was having the exact same issue with his nissan pathfinder.

When traveling on the freeway at speeds above 55pmh. The hood begins to shake/flutter ad it seems the hood is about to open. Other friends/relatives with the same vehicle made in 2015 or 2014 have the same issue. The dealer state dit needs to be adjusted but after doing so, the same occurs. I have had to take my vehicle tot he dealer numerous times with no positive result. Florida turnpike is a 70 mph speed limit and it is very scary as the hood shake even more at that speed.
