  • Recall 2021509 [Canada]: Brakes
Issue: this recall affects a small number of vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels that were repaired with an incorrect driveshaft torsional damper service kit. As a result, there may not be enough clearance for the parking brake cable, and it could become damaged. If this happens, you may not be able to set the parking brake, and the vehicle could roll away. Safety risk: a parked vehicle that moves unexpectedly could increase the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger side parking brake cable with one that provides clearance to the driveshaft torsional damper shield.

  • Recall 2021396 [Canada]: Visual system
Issue: on certain vans, the pivot points for the side mirrors could rust. If this happens, the mirrors could become loose or fall down. Note: this recall only affects vans equipped with short arm, manual fold, power-adjustable outside rearview mirrors. The recall applies to vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (ontario, quebec, new brunswick, nova scotia, prince edward island, and newfoundland & labrador). Safety risk: a side mirror that loosens or separates could reduce rear visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the side mirrors.

  • Recall 2019538 [Canada]: Powertrain
Issue: on certain vehicles, the flexible coupling between the transmission and driveshaft may crack over time. If this happens, you may notice vibrations and noise from under the vehicle. If you continue driving with this problem, the driveshaft could separate, resulting in a loss of power to the wheels. If the driveshaft separates, and the parking brake is not used when parked, the vehicle could move suddenly. A driveshaft that separates can also cause damage to nearby components, including brake and fuel lines. Note: cutaway chassis models with a 156" or 178" wheelbase are not involved in this recall. Safety risk: a loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of injury and/or a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a ford or lincoln dealer to replace the front driveshaft section and install a universal joint (to replace the flexible coupling). Note: ford does not recommend driving your vehicle if the driveshaft flexible coupling has travelled over 64,000 km.

  • Recall 2018216 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles equipped with a trailer lighting control module, or that had a trailer lighting control module installed as an aftermarket accessory, water may enter the module and connector, and could cause wiring corrosion and damage to the module. This could result in an electrical short to ground, which could cause an uncommanded seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or an increased risk of fire, even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off. This may also cause turn signals to flash rapidly as well as cause a loss of the instrument cluster display, heater and air conditioning controls, and multimedia system (radio, screens, sync). An electrical short could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will add a drainage hole to the driver’s door stepwell and incorporate a fuse into the vehicle wiring harness. Note: this recall is an expansion of recall 2017-516.

  • Recall 2017320 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain vans, chassis cabs and cutaway chassis', the driveline operating angle may affect the long term durability of the flexible coupling between the transmission and driveshaft. If the flexible coupling were to crack, it would result in vibration and noise from underneath the vehicle. Continued driving with a cracked flex coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft, resulting in a loss of motive power while driving, or unintended vehicle movement in park without the parking brake applied. In addition, separation of the driveshaft from the transmission can result in damage to surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A loss of motive power may increase the risk of a crash, and unintended vehicle movement may result in property damage and/or injury to bystanders. Correction: as an interim remedy, for vehicles with more than 48,000kms, dealers will replace the driveshaft flexible coupling every 48,000kms until the final repair is available. Upon the final remedy being available, dealers will either install a redesigned flexible coupling, modified driveshaft bracket and shield, or revised driveshaft equipped with a universal joint. Note: cutaway chassis’ with a 156" or 178" wheelbase are not involved in this campaign.

  • Recall 2021309 [Canada]: Powertrain
Issue: on certain vehicles, the shift cable may detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Note: this recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.5 litre engine and 6f35 (6 speed) transmission. Safety risk: sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. My vehicle is suffering from driveline vibrations, which should be recalled under ford safety recall 19s38. My vehicle build manufacture date and build location fall within the recall window, but for some reason my vin is not found in the database for this repair to be covered or authorized. To be clear, i am experiencing driveline vibrations at various speeds, which are high frequency, and cause a vehicle pulsing shudder that is relatively violent and loud, causing items in the vehicle to rattle. This recall is a safety concern as ford describes in their own words: https://ford.Oemdtc.Com/4634/safety-recall-19s38-driveshaft-flexible-coupling-2015-2017-ford-transit "if the coupling fails, the vehicle will not be able to move under its own power and the disconnected driveshaft may impact and damage the brake and fuel lines. Additionally, the separated driveshaft may allow the vehicle to roll if the vehicle is exited when the transmission is in ‘park’ but the parking brake is not applied. These scenarios may increase the risk of a crash or injury." there are no warning lamps to identify there is an issue. The vehicle is available for inspection. Ford is requesting a diagnostic fee to address the issue that should be covered under recall as my vehicle's build date and location fall well within the recall window.

The right tail light seal isn't working, allowing moister in the light. This is corrupting the whole system. The radio, ac, running boards, field monitoring sensors, airbag system, all turn off and on while driving. My vehicle only has 38,000 miles on it. There a multiple complaints on youtube and other ford websites about this issue. The housing for the taillight is terrible and not sealed for the long haul. The dealership has even had to deal with this multiple times. They told me there is no cracks or chips that would be causing this, just improper sealing from the factory. It is scary to think that the airbag system fails from this faulty tail light.

There were 9 of us in our 2017 ford transit, driving on route 15 81 miles south of las vegas, nv, with the cruise control on at 75 mph when the van shut off while in motion. Pulled to the side of the road. Waited 2.5 to 3 hours for a flatbed tow truck while temperature was 108 to 109 degrees f. Vehicle towed to friendly ford, las vegas, nv. Mileage on vehicle was 13,744 miles. Dealer found fuse f16 burned open and codes P025A and U0109. They replaced the fuse f16 and road tested for 15 miles and returned the van to us. They contacted ford technical help. That fuse powers the fuel pump relay and fuel pump control module and pcm. Seems like this same scenario can and will happen again under the same conditions. Failure mode was when we were driving uphill slightly at 1 or 2 percent uphill grade with 3/8 of fuel in the tank. Since then we drove 400 miles without a problem. Afraid to drive in the left carpool lane because it is dangerous to stall out (could get killed by a truck or bus)

The vibrations or frequency seems to be reoccuring in short cycles and mostly audible throughout the interior of the van. This has been occuring since acquired the van an hasn't changed in 2 yrs.

Noise in rear end, started at 30000 miles. Most noticeable when turning a corner. Ford recalled a similar problem with recall # 17s15 in their 2017 model year transit vans. Of which this is one! The problem is the flexible coupling in the rear end fails causing the drive shaft to fall out.

The interior lights and navagation/radio system will not turn off. The door switch is faulty according to the dealership. The vehicle was assembled at the valencia final assembly plant. There are recalls for other ford transit vehicles for failing door switches. I am concerned for simular failures with the door switch allowing the door to open and also a possible electrical fire caused by the malfunctioning navigation/radio and interior lighting system not turning off while the vehicle is stationary.

This was a rented vehicle from enterprise rental in hillsboro, or on 10/12/2018. I was getting out of the van and my ankle hit the metal below the front drivers seat at the front portion of the glide mechanism(that moves the seat backwards and forwards). The metal cut my right inside ankle bone,a cut about and inch and quarter long. It bled terribly and was very swollen over the next couple of days. The injury got infected and required a trips to the emergency room to make it better. The vehicle was parked when this happened. I told another legal driver of the vehicle, and even after telling him, he hit his ankle on the same piece of metal, but he only had a little scratch. His comment to me was," i even hit my ankle after you shared what happened to your ankle. I feel this sharp metal piece should be checked out to see if it is that same in all the transit vans. The rental agreement number with enterprise was 3rq72t, i was also given a number of 313320. Medical records can provided upon request ## vin passed ## 2017 transit van ##

This is the second time our gas pedal has snapped and broke off when taking off/ accelerating. It has also seemed to develop some sort of stutter/bog/hesitation that seems to be linked with the communication from the gas pedal to the computer. Sometimes we will go ahead and pull on out into traffic and accelerate to get up to speed and the van will basically feel like it's stuttering/ hesitating and we give it further throttle with the gas peddle, then it will finally engage and seems to drop down several gears and slam/thrust forward. We have contacted our local ford dealer mountain view ford of chattanooga tn and they have yet to correct or repair this problem. Our van is still covered under factory warranty. We have had to source the replacement part from a junk yard both times in order to use our vehicle which had to be towed off the roadway. The gas pedal assembly is made of plastic and has no back stop to stop the suspended gas pedal from bottoming out once it's at full acceleration. I have read online this has happened to others dealing with this same issue. The problem is going to be we're going to be merging on to interstate and it's going to brake and leave us stranded in the middle of the freeway with oncomi ng traffic and no way to get out of the way. *dt*jb *bf*jb

Seat belt did not work when vehicle was rear-ended. Bolt holding the seat belt harness came out of pillar and was found on the floor after the accident. The driver hit head on the steering wheel as a result. Insurance is requesting the vehicle be released to scrap but we are concerned that the evidence will need to be investigated.

At 10,127 miles, while driving, my steering failed. There was an electronic power assist failure nearly causing me to careen off a highway and die. Not only was there a loss of power steering, there was resistance. Ford dealership has had my vehicle fopr 45 days now, the part has been on backorder, the backorder date keeps getting later and later. I am terrified to have to drive this vehicle once it is returned to me, i will have little faith in something that almost killed me. This is a brand new vehicle. This defect will kill someone.

The dash display would go completely blank intermittently, beginning with a chime and "low brake fluid" warning. All gauges would go to zero and there was no information displayed after a couple of seconds. This would occur while turning or accelerating. We took it to a ford dealer who found multiple communication faults and recommended replacing the instrument cluster. This was done with no change. I finally traced this down to an unsecured wiring harness that goes up inside the right rear pillar of the vehicle, which was swinging around and shorting out the medium speed can bus. I secured the wiring harness towards the inside of the vehicle with a cable tie and the problem has not returned. But it was very distracting while it happened. We have not had any similar problem with any of our other big transits.

I work for nestle and we have a 2107 ford transit van. First the van said to replace exhaust filter even though it was brand new. The smell coming from the vents was so powerful they made me nauseate and light headed. The smell was so string it stuck onto my clothes. Til this day they still have not been able to find the cause or fix the problem. But now reading that other vehicles had the same issue i know now that i'm not crazy or making this up.
