  • Recall 206711 [USA]: A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'park' position. either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
    Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 escape, 2013-2018 c-max, 2013-2016 fusion, 2013-2021 transit connect, and 2015-2018 edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
    dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed july 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th quarter 2022.   • Recall 205959 [USA]: Parking brake failure can result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.
    Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2015-2020 transit vehicles. An incorrect driveshaft torsional damper service kit may have been installed, which can allow the damper shield to contact the parking brake cable, possibly resulting in parking brake failure.

  • Recall 149228 [USA]: A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
    Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 fiesta, 2013-2014 fusion, 2015 mustang, 2013-2015 escape and c-max, 2012-2015 focus, 2014-2016 transit connect, 2013-2014 lincoln mkz, and 2015 mkc vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 or 17v-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
    ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct.   • Recall 144486 [USA]: If the panoramic roof panel separates from the vehicle while it is being driven, it may increase the risk of an injury or crash.

An improper bond may exist between the panoramic roof and the vehicle body and may result in wind noise, water leak, and in some cases, separation from the vehicle.

  • Recall 147441 [USA]: If the coupling fails, the vehicle will not be able to move under its own power and the disconnected driveshaft may impact and damage the brake and fuel lines. additionally, the separated driveshaft may allow the vehicle to roll if the vehicle is exited when the transmission is in 'park' but the parking brake is not applied. these scenarios may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
    Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2015-2017 transit vehicles. This recall includes all full-size transit vehicles previously recalled under 17v-408 except ones that received mechanical universal joint (u-joint) as a remedy and any 156" or 178" wheelbase chassis cab and cut-away bodies models. The flexible coupling connecting the transmission to the driveshaft may prematurely fail.
    ford will notify owners, and as an interim repair, dealers will replace the flexible coupling every 40,000 miles until the final remedy is available. The final remedy will consist of installation of a driveshaft front section equipped with a mechanical u-joint in place of the flexible coupling. These repairs will be made free of charge.   • Recall 151394 [USA]: If the wheelchair lift platform stops above the vehicle floor, the wheelchair user can tip inwards toward the vehicle when exiting the lift, increasing their risk of injury.
    Mobility specialists, inc. (mobility specialists) is recalling certain 2014-2017 ford e-150 and transit vans modified to be equipped with ricon s-series and k-series wheel chair lifts. The wheelchair lift positioning input cam may fail while the lift is in use, allowing the platform to travel higher than the vehicle's floor height.

When the back seat cushion is rotated from the stowed position to the upright position, the seat cushion may not remain locked into place when under load, such as in a crash or a sudden stop. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 207, "seating systems."

  • Recall 127272 [USA]: An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire. turn signal, instrument cluster or seatbelt pretensioner problems can increase the risk of a crash.
    Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2015-2017 ford transit vehicles, equipped with a trailer tow module. Water can enter the tow modules and corrode the wiring causing issues such as rapidly flashing turn signals, loss of instrument panel display, an electrical short and possibly the deployment of seatbelt pretensioner.

    ford will notify owners, and as an interim repair, dealers will replace the flexible coupling on any vehicle with more than 30,000 miles. A final remedy repair of a redesigned flexible coupling or a revised driveshaft equipped with a universal joint is being developed and is expected in early 2018.     Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 transit vehicles manufactured february 13, 2014, to january 13, 2016 and equipped with rear passenger seats. The rear seat belt buckles may be damaged if a heavy object is placed on, or impacts, the top of the buckle. The damage may prevent the buckle from latching or from remaining latched.

    The run on water pump (rowp) fitted to transit and transit custom vehicles may overheat
    replacing the 15 amp fuse with a 7.5 amp fuse to prevent the possibility for the rowp to overheat.

    A number of vehicles fitted with a 1.0 1.5 or 1.6 ecoboost engine and 6-speed manual transmission could suffer clutch pressure plate fracture. This results in clutch smell reduced vehicle speed and performance. In the unlikely event of clutch pressure plate fracture a noise (thud / bang) could be heard from the vicinity of the transmission in extreme cases resulting in clutch / transmission fragments being released and striking under hood components creating a risk of smoke and fire from the under hood area.
    to prevent the repeated heating /cooling events a new calibration has been developed for vehicles fitted with engine stop start feature. The software with the additional feature sets the instrument panel ?Wrench light? And de-rates the engine performance if prolonged clutch slip is detected. The software feature includes a drive cycle strategy for latching the wrench light and engine performance de-rate if the customer should experience repeated clutch slip events. For vehicles that do not have engine stop start feature an alternative clutch kit has been released.

  • Recall 2021509 [Canada]: Brakes
    Issue: this recall affects a small number of vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels that were repaired with an incorrect driveshaft torsional damper service kit. As a result, there may not be enough clearance for the parking brake cable, and it could become damaged. If this happens, you may not be able to set the parking brake, and the vehicle could roll away. Safety risk: a parked vehicle that moves unexpectedly could increase the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger side parking brake cable with one that provides clearance to the driveshaft torsional damper shield.

  • Recall 2021396 [Canada]: Visual system
    Issue: on certain vans, the pivot points for the side mirrors could rust. If this happens, the mirrors could become loose or fall down. Note: this recall only affects vans equipped with short arm, manual fold, power-adjustable outside rearview mirrors. The recall applies to vehicles originally sold or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (ontario, quebec, new brunswick, nova scotia, prince edward island, and newfoundland & labrador). Safety risk: a side mirror that loosens or separates could reduce rear visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the side mirrors.

    Issue: on certain vehicles, the flexible coupling between the transmission and driveshaft may crack over time. If this happens, you may notice vibrations and noise from under the vehicle. If you continue driving with this problem, the driveshaft could separate, resulting in a loss of power to the wheels. If the driveshaft separates, and the parking brake is not used when parked, the vehicle could move suddenly. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a ford or lincoln dealer to replace the front driveshaft section and install a universal joint (to replace the flexible coupling). Note: ford does not recommend driving your vehicle if the driveshaft flexible coupling has travelled over 64,000 km.

    On certain vehicles equipped with a trailer lighting control module, or that had a trailer lighting control module installed as an aftermarket accessory, water may enter the module and connector, and could cause wiring corrosion and damage to the module. This could result in an electrical short to ground, which could cause an uncommanded seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or an increased risk of fire, even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off. This may also cause turn signals to flash rapidly as well as cause a loss of the instrument cluster display, heater and air conditioning controls, and multimedia system (radio, screens, sync). An electrical short could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.   • Recall 2017320 [Canada]: Powertrain
    On certain vans, chassis cabs and cutaway chassis', the driveline operating angle may affect the long term durability of the flexible coupling between the transmission and driveshaft. If the flexible coupling were to crack, it would result in vibration and noise from underneath the vehicle. Continued driving with a cracked flex coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft, resulting in a loss of motive power while driving, or unintended vehicle movement in park without the parking brake applied. In addition, separation of the driveshaft from the transmission can result in damage to surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A loss of motive power may increase the risk of a crash, and unintended vehicle movement may result in property damage and/or injury to bystanders. Correction: as an interim remedy, for vehicles with more than 48,000kms, dealers will replace the driveshaft flexible coupling every 48,000kms until the final repair is available. Upon the final remedy being available, dealers will either install a redesigned flexible coupling, modified driveshaft bracket and shield, or revised driveshaft equipped with a universal joint. Note: cutaway chassis’ with a 156" or 178" wheelbase are not involved in this campaign.

  • Recall 2016432 [Canada]: Structure
    On certain vehicles, the pawl spring tab in the side door latch could break. This condition typically will prevent the door from latching. In certain situations where the door is able to be closed, the door may be partially latched and could unlatch while driving. This could increase the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant seated next to the door, or result in damage to property. Correction: if a door will not latch, dealers will replace all four door latches with a more robust part. Note: a door that is partially latched can cause the courtesy light to remain on, set a door ajar message in the instrument cluster and sound a door ajar chime to alert the driver that there is a door latch problem.

  • Recall 2016412 [Canada]: Fuel supply
    On certain vehicles equipped with a 3.2l diesel engine, defects in the high pressure fuel pump could result in excessive wear, leading to metallic wear particles. These particles could clog fuel volume control valves and/or fuel injectors, potentially resulting in the engine stalling or failing to start. A loss of motive power could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will replace the fuel injection pump and inspect the fuel system for metallic contamination. If metallic contamination is present, dealers will also clean/flush the fuel system and replace the fuel filter and fuel injectors.

  • Recall 2016137 [Canada]: Airbag
    On certain vehicles equipped with side curtain airbags, the side curtain airbag assemblies may not have been manufactured and installed with the intended design fold orientation. If the side curtain airbag fold is not oriented properly, it could prevent the airbag from deploying as intended. A side curtain airbag that does not deploy as intended during a crash (where side curtain airbag deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: dealers will inspect the side curtain air bags on both sides of the vehicle, and will re-orient them if required.

  • Recall 2016090 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
    A heavy impact to the top of a rear seat belt buckle (high end load) may result in damage causing the buckle cover to displace downward and/or rotate relative to the latch mechanism. If a rear seat belt buckle is damaged, the buckle cover may interfere with the normal function of the buckle, which may ultimately prevent the buckle tongue from becoming latched or potentially remaining latched, increasing the risk of injury in a crash or other emergency situations. Correction: owners will be provided instructions to inspect their rear passenger seat belt buckles, or alternatively dealers will provide this inspection if customers have questions or concerns. When repair parts become available, owners will be notified to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the rear passenger seat belt buckles repaired or replaced, as required.

  • Recall 2021309 [Canada]: Powertrain
    Issue: on certain vehicles, the shift cable may detach from the transmission. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears when the shifter is moved. As a result, the transmission could be in a different gear than the gear shifter indicates. If a driver attempts to exit the vehicle while the transmission is not in park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could move suddenly. Note: this recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.5 litre engine and 6f35 (6 speed) transmission. Safety risk: sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the transmission shifter cable bushing and install a protective service cap. Certain brake hydraulic control units (hcu) may contain metallic debris, which could reduce pump performance and affect electronic stability control (esc), and may cause the system fail to meet the requirements of the standard. If metallic debris is present, particles may block a pressure valve in the hcu during operation.   • Door latch failures investigation as of 20191219

    In december 2019, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened this investigation based on 235 vehicle owner questionnaires (voqs) alleging doors failed to latch when closed, and/or inadvertently opened while driving, on model year (my) 2012-2014 ford fiesta, and 2013-2014 fusion and lincoln mkz. Some voqs reported the failure occurred after the latch had been remedied under a prior recall which involved fracture of the latch pawl spring tab due to thermally induced cyclic fatigue. Other voqs alleged a similar failure in vehicles not previously recalled. A latch with a fractured pawl spring tab typically results in a “door will not close” condition, however in certain somewhat rare circumstances, may result in the door coming open while driving. In response to odi’s investigation, ford has announced three field actions, as discussed below.On march 23, 2020, ford submitted safety recall 20v-177 (ford 20s15), a regional recall campaign to address door latch failures in vehicles not previously recalled under safety recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 and 17v-210. The recall affects vehicles currently or ever registered in certain high ambient temperature states (see 20v-177 for affected states). As a remedy, ford will replace all four door latches free of charge.On august 24, 2020, ford issued a non-safety regional field action (ford 20r01) to address door latch failures on the same model/my vehicles not covered under 20v-177 (i.E., not currently/ever registered in affected states). According to ford, spring tab failure rates for vehicles covered by this action are about half that of the 20v-177 vehicles. Under this action, dealers will replace all door latches, free of charge, if either; a) the vehicle exhibits a related latch concern, or b) if the vehicle owner expresses a concern about the latches in their vehicles. Details can be found under nhtsa tsb no. 10190990, a copy of which is available in this investigative file available at nhtsa.Gov.On june 8, 2020, ford submitted safety recall 20v-331 (ford 20s30) addressing vehicles previously remedied under nhtsa recalls 15v-246, 16v-643 and 17v-210, where the repair may not have been properly completed, specifically not all of the door latches were replaced, or replaced correctly. This recall involves an inspection of the latches, with the option for a consumer self-inspection; owners could view the date codes on their latches (and confirm child safety locks are present on the rear doors) and then submit the information to ford’s mobile app or website. A dealership inspection option was also available. Any vehicle found to have unreplaced defective latches requires the replacement of all door latches as directed by ford.Regarding the 4,494 reports cited above, 1,485 involve scope-related failures (with 13% alleging door opening), and the remaining 3,009 reports involving remedy concerns (with 18% alleging door opening - note odi was unable to verify the allegations of door opening). The three odi injuries were all relatively minor. Ford’s reported injury incidences include one (unconfirmed) report of an ejection, three minor injuries with the others involving undisclosed injuries. Ford’s crashes involved two (unconfirmed) crashes alleging the incident door contacted another vehicle and three involving doors striking other property.The recalled vehicles include my 2011-2015 ford fiesta, 2013-2016 ford fusion and lincoln mkz, 2015 ford mustang and lincoln mkc, 2013-2015 ford escape and ford c-max, 2012-2015 ford focus and 2014-2016 ford transit connect.Fords actions address odis concerns at this time. Odi will take further action if warranted by new information. Has complied with the requirements of the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act.The safety act requires, among other things, that a rental company not rent, lease, or sell a recalled vehicle until the safety defect or noncompliance is remedied.49 u.S.C. ? 30120(i).Nhtsa is in receipt of information that alleges zipcar, inc. Rented at least one vehicle to a consumer without having remedied safety defects.Accordingly, we are opening this audit query to seek information concerning these allegations and to verify whether improper rentals were made.   • Door latch failure investigation as of 20160116

    In january, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened this preliminary evaluation based on consumers allegations of doors failing to latch and/or inadvertently opening on model year (my) 2012-2013 ford focus vehicles (subject vehicles).Odi has received 464 unique reports related to the alleged problem, with over 200 claiming that the door(s) opened inadvertently while the vehicle was in motion.One consumer alleged an injury that occurred while driving when a door inadvertently opened and then closed on a childs arm.Another alleged that a door that inadvertently opened struck a parked vehicle.In response to odis information request, ford motor company (ford) provided 500 unique reports related to the alleged problem on the subject vehicles.Ford reported no injury or accident claims.Ford also submitted 1,513 warranty claims related to door latch failures.Many customers indicated that the affected door could not be latched at all and some of them decided to restrain the door by other means in order to operate the vehicle.Some customers also reported door latch failures occurring on multiple doors and at different times.Additionally, ford stated that my 2014-2015 ford focus, 2013-2015 ford escape, 2013-2015 ford c-max, 2014-2016 ford transit connect, 2015 ford mustang, and 2015 lincoln mkc, all use the same door latch as the 2012-2013 ford focus.On september 6, 2016, ford notified odi that it would conduct a safety recall (16v-643) to remedy the door latches in the my 2012-2015 ford focus and other ford models mentioned above (total of approximately 2 million vehicles).According to ford, a component within the door latch may break preventing the door from latching.Ford dealers will replace all four door latches in the recalled vehicles with a new more robust latch design that is currently in production.The recall action initiated by the manufacturer appears to address the safety risks.Accordingly, this investigation is closed.The odi reports cited above can be reviewed at www-odi.Nhtsa.Dot.Gov/owners/searchnhtsaid under the identification (odi) numbers found in the attached list.

Engine dies without warning. Stalled in the middle of traffic, luckily this did not result in an accident. This has happened twice in the span of one month. April 25th 2021 and may 14th 2021. Ford dealer (ford of montebello) could not figure out why it does this (it has been doing this intermittently since the vehicle was purchased new in 2016. It has done this in the past. I am taking the vehicle back to dealer (again) to see if they can figure it out this time around. Scan tool produces no engine fault codes. Vehicle drives perfectly fine after each incident.

Vehicle failed to go into park when putting shift lever into the park position. Vehicle actually went into reverse instead even though the shift indicator showed the vehicle was in park. We could not shift the vehicle out of reverse. This was the result of a broken shift cable. This is the 2nd vehicle of the same model we have had this happen with. I was notified for a **recall** on the drive shaft sometime early this year ( feb / march 2021)... I have about 24,000 miles on the van. I also reported humming noise after reaching 35 to 40 mph... And then more noise ( humming noise ) after reaching 65 mph on the expressway. I took my van to northgate ford, where i purchased new. They said they had the parts ordered etc. I left the van there for several days...Then i was notified that they put on the new replacement driveshaft,,,, assuming it was correct and balanced.... The service manager notified me that the replacement driveshaft installed was not balanced and was causing all kinds of vibration problems / issues... Steering wheel, driving, etc.... Upon taking the van back several times.... And getting a new corrected balance driveshaft, installed that. However,,, still more problems,,, humming and vibrations, etc. They looked at the differrencial ,,,, and found that all the bearings were bad,,, had to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get replacements......I told them that anything that spins... And not balanced is causing more vibration problems through out the van,,, engine, transmission, exhaust system, brakes, name it,,, etc. I picked up the van on june 28, 2021.. Note... They gave me an extended warranty until 2024 ( 3 years ) and milage of 75,000 miles... Looks like expecting more major problems, etc..... I still have the **humming noise over 35 mph... And getting louder... I have seen articles about possible exhaust / muffler baffles going bad, etc... Now that they did the recall, etc.. My van is an accident waiting to happen... And with the humming noise... Now all i need to do is lose my hearing... Bull ssssss... Thanks

And additional noise when driving on expressway over 60 mph plus... Goes away when letting off the accelerator and exiting expressway. Dealer had vehicle since 3/9/2021. Told me today they fixed the drive shaft coupling, then they came up with issue on front tires and had to rotate them.. Only 24k on vehicle since new... Now new issue about some sort of rattle with the front end... Etc..And that car pulls to right? And that they cannot fix problem as of today,,, working with ford,, looks liike they want to keep vehicle....Until ?? Fixed??? According to google,,, looking up front end problems with 2016 / 250 ford transit cargo van... Lots of issues there from other transit owners. Same issue.. Possible issue related to same front end problems... When ford ships the transit to dealers,,,assume that vehicle is being tied dowm to delivery carrier flat bed auto carrier,,, in nose down position and with extream tie downs... That when the carrier his the highway, and the vehicles start bouncing, and all the weight is on the front end... Causing all this damage... Front end alignment cannot fix it... Some are saying that the ** subframe** is bent out of alignment.... Looks like possible limine time??? Time to recall all transit's again for this issue. Also like to bring to your attention about the exhaust tail pipe comes out short from the end of the bumper ( several feet,,,) and should come all the way to the end of the vehicle and or to area behind the rear wheel and even with the side of the vehicle to keep exhaust fumes away from getting inside the vehicle....

When i returned to my car it would not shift into drive. The shift lever had become disconnected, and the shift lever bushing was gone. I found part of the bushing in the engine compartment. When researching the problem, i found information on the safety recall 18s20, covering the ford fusion, with the same motor and transmission as the 2016 ford transit connect i own. I feel very fortunate i was in a safe location when the bushing failed. I don't understand why the safety recall 18s20 does not cover my 2016 ford transit connect. Side sliding door hinges have broken and had to be replaced several times. It has been an ongoing and unresolved issue with the side door. The side door does not close properly and currently will not close or latch making it undriveable as it will slide open if attempting to drive. One of the rear seatbelts will not latch, rendering that seat unusable. There is already a recall for this vehicle made at the same assembly plant, assembled during the listed time period, yet my vehicle does not show that it is covered by this recall. The description in that recall matches exactly the problem that i am experiencing. When attempting to call ford motor company, multiple attempts resulted in being hung up on despite this ocurring during their listed business hours.

It turns out the shift cable broke that links the shifter to the transmission. We had it repaired (replaced) by a local shop. The vehicle is available for inspection if necessary, but has been repaired. We have had two of these break on two different vehicles of the same model and year. This happened on this vehicle at 127000 miles. There were no warning indicators illuminated before this incident occurred.

The overall noise level while driving is way above normal. Humming sound while driving at 40 to 50 mph plus. The **decibel** level is high. Noise coming through all the doors and door seals, the floor, etc., noise from the tires. I measured the decibel levels on the local expressway doing 65 to 70 mph. The decibel level at the *dog house* was running between 75 and 80 decibels. I have been trying to put additional self sticking door seals on all doors, 100% around, complete, etc. This has been happening for the past several years. Shortly after i bought the vehicle.

Water is leaking down into the vehicle from up above in the roof. There are caps located in these channels on the exterior roof of this vehicle. There was snow overnight sitting on top of the vehicle. A puddle formed inside on the back plastic arm ledge. Ceiling carpet was wet up above. I drove the vehicle in wet conditions and the water continued to drip down after a 2 hour drive in rain. \when water is in these channels on the exterior of roof, it comes through somehow under these caps and soaks ceiling carpet thus causing water to drip down. After completion of an unrelated safety recall on lock latch install. I noticed that the shift light was blinking on & off. A shot time later, the vehicle when into park while in motion off rt. 15 in the town of gordonsville, virginia. I had the vehicle towed to the place of purchase at madison ford in madison virginia. The towing company/firm had to drag the vehicle onto the flat bed truck.The vehicle would not shift out of park.

The contact took the vehicle to autofair ford (1475 s willow st, manchester, nh 03103, 603-634-1001) where it was discovered that water was accumulating on the air filter. The contact stated that water was also dripping onto the blower motor heater, which caused an electrical short. The dealer replaced the blower motor and installed a water deflection kit. They also replaced the air filter and the air filter box cover. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and stated that the vehicle was not under warranty and there was no recall. The manufacturer offered no further assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 86,000.

I was aware of the recall 17s15 in reference to the driving shaft coupling, every 30,000 miles i check this coupling and each time they would tell me that it was cracked and needs to be change. As soon the called fixed came out, it was installed, but just last month it was checked again and they noticed that the famous fix also was cracked and this time they (levittown ford long island)told me that it was not covered under recall and i had to pay over $800.00 dollar's for a new fix. Have learned there is a safety recall per oem and nhtsa regarding drivetrain couplers ( unoints ). My particular vehicle has incurred damage as result of coupler(s) failing. Damage including; not limited to driveshaft becoming detached, severance of fuel & brake lines, breach of transmission bell housing, other. Catastrophic failure left me stranded in desert for 2 days, loss of business, loss of income, health related issues. The rubber / polymer like material these couplers are made of are a severe safety hazard; especially if vehicle is operated under load. Furthermore, customers operating these hazards are not being notified until november 11th, 2019. Someone needs to take initiative before someone is seriously hurt. While pulling out of a fast food drive through steering jerked to center and i lost power steering to the point where i could barely keep control of the vehicle, mechanic informed me the powering steering motor seemed overheated because of its location and i could expect this to happen again, on the dash i got a "steering fault" code. Second issue unrelated is that the temp sensor keeps malfunctioning, once the senor reaches below the freezing point on the dash ( keep in mind its 74f outside) the vehicle shuts down the air conditioning unit blowing hot air until the whole system resets and the dash reads the actual exterior temp. New ford temp sensor installed worked fine for two weeks then same issue. Its frustrating when we reach 80+ degrees and the air conditioning is intermittent because of a senor issue which is totally unrelated to the unit itself. Two other friends of mine own the same year vehicle and are having the same issues. Love my ford but they should own up to they're problems.

Dealer performed recall 17s15 driveshaft assy that replaced the rear driveshaft coupling. At the time, the front driveshaft coupling was observed to be loose. The front coupling was inspected and reassembled. Less than 6000 miles later the front driveshaft coupling (the fibrous part) disintegrated, the shaft separated, causing damage to the brake lines. At the time the vehicle was traveling at highway speed and down hill. The driver brought the vehicle to a stop using the emergency brake. Prior to the event, the driver had noticed a light vibration and sound for about 50 miles. The vibration suddenly got worse just before the event.

1/2 of the windshield seal failed leaving the windshield unattached to the vehicle. I noticed it was loose when cleaning the inside of the windshield. The next morning i went to a glass repair shop. The manager said not to drive the vehicle around due to safety issues and take it to the dealer because the seal should not have failed within 3 years. The service manager wanted me to continue driving the vehicle around until they had an opening in appointments. I was afraid to drive it with only 1/2 of the windshield seal intact. Therefore i left it at the dealership for repairs. I am awaiting resolution to this safety issue.

Purchased certified with 15,478 and current highway miles 63,412. Transmission exhibited symptoms of sluggishness and slowing down when driving my father to er for surgery. Most miles are highway miles (mom-open heart surgery; spouse-brain tumor removal and dad-a colostomy). My spouse indicated the transmission bogged down slowly from 70, 60, 55mph down to 0 mph with no power to engage in any gear. Spouse heading home with kids when van just stopped working and wouldn't move in any gear except park and neutral. Called a tow truck at 10:45 pm. We paid the $150/diagnostic fee and trans fluid ok. Tech mentioned needed a new $8,000/transmission-all the inner mechanicals stopped working.

Van was purchased 10/26/2016 looked at different web sites saying there is a recall but ford is saying that it does not pertain to this van, the description on the web site is the same as dealer repaired.The wiring harness repaired was in the drivers footwell, in the recall notice posted it said the wiring harness should be replaced not repaired and that a drainage hole be made in the footwell plus installation of a fuse to prevent fires. Loss of power while on the road you name it. Currently have 2 of the vehicles at the dealership waiting on transmissions we have contacted ford for some sort of assistance , we are losing money by having our vehicles sit at the dealership waiting to get serviced all the time, is one issue after another its gotten to the point that we cross our fingers everyday hoping for our drivers to make it back with no issues and always thinking where is the next van going to break down and how we are going to deal with it. Very frustrating having to deal with this everyday headache.

If you opened either front window while driving, hot air would blow from under the front passenger seat at a high volume on the back of the front passengers legs. The van was taken to the dealer who stated they could duplicate the problem, but said that this was normal. I looked under the seat and saw a @3"x 4" oval hole in the floor and i could see the ground. Ford had not installed the plug that is supposed to be in that hole. That hole is directly above a heat shield and the exhaust pipe and there is also a connection at that location on the pipe. After i discovered the hole, i returned to the dealer, who said that there was supposed to be a plug installed there, and they ordered the part(s). After a recent 12 hour trip in this vehicle family members had complained of headaches, and a couple complained of nausea and vomited. Although on that trip we had the windows closed and the air conditioning on, i wonder if we were actually suffering from being exposed to exhaust fumes.

After driving for few weeks i had the following problems. #1 fuel economy on vehicle is 15 miles per gallon (on a 4 cylinder engine?). Previously taken to dealer where they replaced a recall part (throttle body) as it was doing only 13 miles to the gallon. Dealer states that is working normal???? #2 after driving for 4 hours or more (city or highway) hot air comes out of air vents even when outside temp is 40 degrees fe.( and temp is set to low on cluster). 20 degrees deference is not ok (maybe in winter but not in summer). Dealer was able to replicate the problem and call ford engineers, to which they said that it is normal. Dealer was able to replicate the same issue on 3 similar vehicles but still ford states that it is normal??? Hot air coming out of vents at 70 degrees when it is 55 degrees outside is not normal.

I own a 2016 ford transit connect with tow package assembled in valencia, spain. There is a recall 17s34 issued by ford on oct. 25, 2017 regarding ford transit vehicles assembled in kansas city equipped with tow modules. The issue is water entering the electrical system thru the tow moduel and shorting out the system. My vehicle is currently in the shop because the ignition has come apart and it is going to cost me more that 800.00 to fix. My problems started about two weeks age the radio went out along with the backup camera and screen, i checked the fuses seemed fine put them back all ok. A day later vehicle began to make a lot of noise coming from the dash board this time the battery went dead, i charged the battery, checked the fuses, the battery still kept going dead. Every time i turned the vehicle off the battery went dead after 3 or 4 times of this the ignition stoped working all together. I then had the vehicle towed to my local dealership where they put in a new battery and ran a diagnostic check to find out the ignition had come apart and had to be replaced at a cost of $800. I am concerned that water is getting into my electrical system and i am going to have more problems in the future if this tow modules isn't fixed. The ford recall states: water intrusion into the module may result in rapid flashing of turn signals, loss of instrument cluster display, loss of heat and air conditioning controls, and loss of multimedia including radio, screens and sync. Wiring corrosion from prolonged water intrusion could also result in an electrical short to the ground, which could cause seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or increased risk of fire, including when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off. I feel strongly that my vehicle is experiencing many of the same issues in this recall and should possible be included in the recall 17s34

Advised: "your patience is greatly appreciated. I was able to verify that you do have program 17b28 titled electronic throttle body replacement open on your vehicle. This is actually not a recall, but a customer satisfaction program (csp). Under this csp, ford motor company has authorized your dealer to replace the electronic throttle body free of charge (parts and labor) under the terms of this program. This csp is active until september 30, 2018, regardless of mileage." i had not been notified of this program or the defect which would immobilize my van while driving. This is very dangerous to loose power in heavy traffic. Moreover, as a senior female who often drives alone at night, could lead to stranding. Why isn't ford required to either recall the throttle body or notify customers they need to have it replaced? Attaching repair document. 2016 ford transit 350hd 144"wheelbase with the extended length, high roof, dual rear wheels. Took possession of van on 05-25-17 with 350 miles. Had a vibration in the steering wheel which started around 40 mph and got more intense the faster you drove. Took it to have the front wheel balance checked and each wheel has +2 oz (06-08-17 1025 miles) the wheel balance fixed the steering wheel vibration problem. Then i noticed unsafe handling characteristics, unsafe swaying and possible loss of control when affected by the smallest amount of wind, passing larger vehicles and road conditions. Not safe to drive over 55 mph on the highway due to excessive swaying that could lead to loss of control. Had ford dealer confirm that there is no mechanical problem. It is not a intermittent problem but rather a problem that occurs every time it is driven in the above conditions. It is a problem that became evident right after taking possession of the vehicle and fixing the wheel balance issue.

Our family opened the doors and proceeded to exit the vehicle. Our four year old son, however, had unbuckled and twisted around in his seat such that he became trapped in his seat belt. The more he struggled to get free the more it ratcheted tight... To the point that he couldn't breath. Despite us trying everything to free him, the seat belt would not release him. Fearing that he was in real medical danger, i cut him free thereby rendering that seat belt unusable. I am concerned that the seat belts are defective in that they failed to release properly when the van was placed in park and the doors were opened.

Flex coupling between transmission and drive shaft routinely fails between 30,000 - 35,000 miles. This can create a dangerous situation where the drive shaft could be forced into the passenger compartment when it comes into contact with the road. Additionally, the failure of the flex coupling could cause loss of control of the vehicle. There are numerous reports of these failures on ford vehicle forums as well as the failure that i have personally experienced. After reading of the numerous failures, i inspected the flex coupling on my vehicle at 30,000 miles and found that the flex coupling had visible cracks. A failure of a drive line component, which could cause great bodily harm, at 30,000 miles, is unacceptable in a modern vehicle.

Vehicle looses power, the accelerator pedal in non responsive, and engine begins very rough idle. Have experienced this issue twice in three days on the freeway at speeds of 65-70mph. After coasting to the side of the road and coming to a complete stop, turning the vehicle off and then back on seems to correct the issue long enough to drive to the dealership. Vehicle has 17,888 miles on the odometer. While the vehicle was in motion at 40 mph the motor stumbled, lost power, and the check engine light illuminated along with a message stating there was a system fault and to service the engine now. I rolled to a stop, turned off the vehicle, attempted a restart and the vehicle ran as normal. The next day, while cruising at 70 mph on the highway, the vehicle stumbled, lost power, and the check engine light illuminated along with a message stating there was a system fault and to service the engine now. This time, while on the highway, was very dangerous. I could not move the vehicle under its own power and i was rapidly losing speed. I luckily managed to pull over onto the shoulder where i turned off the vehicle, then restarted it. Drove as normal after the restart. Dealership identified the issue was the electronic throttle body malfunctioning. Personal research revealed that this is a widespread issue. This issue is dangerous for the owner of the vehicle and for other drivers. I could have been rear ended on the highway quite easily because my vehicle did not have any power to move, just the remaining momentum to keep it moving. I fail to see how so many of these failing electronic throttle bodies are still in use when there is clearly danger to consumers.

We purchased 14 ford transit vans from the u.S. Four of the 14 are not in driving condition now due to a problem losing speed [more details for each vehicle are needed]. The fault in all of them shows code P2111. While driving at an estimated and constant 70 mph on the highway, the car beeped and "engine malfunction" displayed on the dashboard. The vehicle then suddenly lost power and began to shake violently. The smell of burning oil was present in the cabin. Given the speeds, this was dangerous. I had to coast across a lane of traffic and come to a stop in a grassy area to avoid blocking the highway. Had there been traffic, this would have been impossible. Ford transit is designed to allow the ignition key to be turned off while it's in any gear including while it's in drive on the highway. Turning this key while on the highway will cause the power steering to go out causing a dangerous situation for the driver. My van has turned itself off while i was driving on the highway at 60 miles an hour four times because my knee touched the key. To make matters worse, the steering column is adjustable but it adjust itself without activating the leever causing the steering column with the ignition key to constantly come closer to my knees. The vehicle will stop accepting accelerator commands randomly. It will refuse to accelerate when the accelerator is depressed. There have been 4 of these vehicles in our fleet do this. Ford is aware of the problem but refuses to do anything about it to accommodate the drivers even going so far as to state it could be weeks before even diagnosing the problem. This is to cover the fact hat they have the throttle bodies needed to repair this complaint on backorder. If on a freeway this is a dangerous failure that would compromise the safety of all on board. The vehicle was in motion at the time of the failure on a city street.

Unsafe handling characteristics 2016 ford transit t350 144"wheelbase with the extended length, high roof, single rear wheel. Unsafe swaying and possible loss of control when affected by high winds, passing trucks or uneven road conditions. Not safe to drive over 55 mph on the highway due to excessive swaying that could lead to loss of control. Had ford dealer confirm that there is no mechanical problem and that it was performing as designed. Ford engineers have no fix available at this time. It is not a intermittent problem but rather a problem that occurs every time it is driven in the above conditions. It is a problem that became evident right after taking possession of the vehicle (it did not develop or worsen with time but rather seems to be a design flaw).

Seat belt latch failure. The plastic cover on the seat belt latch receiver detaches from the assembly during normal use. This renders the seat belt unable to latch completely, and renders the seat belt inoperable. The passenger may not be aware that the latch is not secured. This was noted on two separate belts in the rear seats of a rented 12-passenger transit. Based on my interview with the passenger, it most likely occurred by sitting on the lower receiver while having a mobile phone in their back pants pocket. On one occasion, the passenger stated she heard a "crack" or "pop." it should be noted that both occupants were less than 150 lbs. The plastic covers did not completely fail, but were shifted towards the anchor of the lower assembly. This did create a situation where the passenger was unprotected.
