  • Recall R/2018/180 [UK]: Parking brake caliper shaft boots incorrectly sealed
Due to improper sealing of parking brake caliper shaft boots water might penetrate inside and rust the shaft. As the result of continuous use the rust will erode into the internal caliper and the shaft becomes stuck causing decreased parking brake force. Due to improper manufacturing process automatic adjuster for brake pad clearance of rear brake caliper might not work properly. As the result as brake pad wear the clearance is not correctly adjusted and brake force becomes insufficient to hold a vehicle. In the worst case scenario parking brake will not work even though a lever is fully operated and parked vehicle may move.
anti-rust coating (fluorine) has been applied to parking brake shaft from 27/01/2016 supplied parts & the inspection process for the caliper has been changed from 14/12/2014 supplied parts.

  • Recall R/2017/183 [UK]: Internal combustion engine may not perform as expected
The internal combustion engine may not operate correctly. Dtc?S will be generated the engine-warning lamp will illuminate and the combination meter will display a message. In the worst case the internal combustion engine will fail to start and charge the main traction battery. If the warnings are ignored the main traction battery will become depleted and the vehicle will lose all drive.
recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and apply countermeasure software to the ecu and replace the spark plugs with ones of approved specification.

  • Recall R/2018/019 [UK]: Ecu relay may overheat and cause ecu to malfunction
The engine electronic control unit relay may overheat and fail. This could interrupt power supply to the engine and will cause the engine malfunction warning lamp to illuminate. The engine may stall and may not restart.
on affected vehicles the engine ecu power relay will be replaced with a new relay.

  • Recall R/2019/142 [UK]: The resistor inside the air flow sensor may corrode
It may not be possible to start the engine in order to charge the main drive battery.
the air flow sensor is to be replaced on the affected vehicles.

As the result as brake pad wear the clearance is not correctly adjusted and brake force becomes insufficient to hold a vehicle. anti-rust coating (fluorine) has been applied to parking brake shaft from 27/01/2016 supplied parts & the inspection process for the caliper has been changed from 14/12/2014 supplied parts.

  • Recall 2020317 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
Issue: on certain vehicles, the seat belt buckle for the right seat in the second-row could be damaged when the seats are folded down. This can cause the seat belt buckle cover to come off. If this happens, the seat belt may not latch properly. Safety risk: a seat belt that does not latch properly could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective actions: mitsubishi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to modify the center seat belt buckle in the second seating row. A warning label will also be attached to the right seat base and additional instructions will be added to the owner's manual.

  • Recall 2018589 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles, a wiring connector located under the driver's side carpet may become contaminated by salt water and corrode over time. This could cause a short-circuit that may cause the connector to overheat and melt and potentially lead to a fire if combustible objects are nearby. A vehicle fire could result in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will relocate and replace the wiring connector terminal to a higher position and replace the rear display harness with a new one.

  • Recall 2018053 [Canada]: Brakes
On certain vehicles, insufficient rust prevention to the parking brake shaft and insufficient sealing performance of the rear brake caliper boot could allow water to penetrate inside these components causing corrosion. As a result, the parking brake shaft may become stuck causing brake dragging and/or decreased parking brake performance. Additionally, the automatic adjuster for the brake pad clearance of the rear brake caliper with the built-in parking brake may not work correctly. These conditions could lead to a vehicle rollaway, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will inspect and repair the rear brakes as necessary.

  • Recall 2014248 [Canada]: Powertrain
On certain 2012 to 2014 model year vehicles, due to improper manufacturing of the oil seal boss in certain transfer assemblies, the oil seal can become out of position and allow automatic transmission fluid to enter into the transfer assembly, resulting in reduced automatic transmission fluid pressure in the transaxle. This condition would illuminate the “automatic transmission” (a/t) warning light in the instrument panel and could result in the inability to shift gears or to drive the vehicle, increasing the risk of crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transfer assembly. Note: only a limited number of 2007 to 2010 model year vehicles equipped with a replacement transfer assembly are included in the recall population.

The rearview camera system suddenly quit showing video when i put the car in reverse. The camera itself still works as i can go into the settings for brightness, color, etc., the back up sensors still beep when i am backing up and the reverse lights still work as well. From looking at the mitsubishi forum (https://www.Mitsubishi-forums.Com/threads/reverse-camera-not-coming-on.72338/#post-360974) , apparently this is an issue for many people. One forum member states an etacs coding entry called 'rear_cmr_prst' says it is 'not present.' i feel this is most definitely a safety issue, particularly when backing out of a public parking spot. I realize this is a convenience item for my year of vehicle (2014), but since the cameron gulbransen kids transportation safety act of 2007 became law as of may 1, 2018, these items are standard equipment on all new vehicles. From reading the forum, any repairs are at the expense of the consumer, and my local mitsubishi shops have no idea of what is wrong and have never heard of the problem. Many in the forum mention 'vehicle signal check' menu, etacs programming, can communications, coding data, and other wiring information the average consumer is oblivious of. If rearview cameras are required equipment due to passage of the above law, shouldn't this issue be a safety recall for repair or replacement of the defect at manufacturer expense? By the way, this car has never been in any accident, had any damage done to the rear of the vehicle and has always been well cared for and maintained.

I was driving on the highway and with no warning the vehicle lost pressure when pressing on the gas peddle to drive to maintain speed limit when driving the car. The transmission fluid was checked and there was the recommended level of transmission fluid. Mechanic stated error code P0868. Per mechanic/transmission specialist this is a known problem with mitsubishi transmissions and they are only able to get the transmission from a dealer. Please note that his has occurred to other 2014 mitsubishi outlanders with 50,000 or less that were purchased at the lancaster mitsubishi in lancaster, pa.

Took vehicle in to dealer due to a vibration coming from transmission, and also, my vehicle would be sluggish when it warmed up. Most concerning, was when slowing at an intersection to turn, and then pressing the gas to accelerate, the vehicle would be hesitant. This almost resulted in a car accident. Based on other reviewers, i find this to be a concern for more than just myself. I had to purchase a brand new transmission at $7,100. Total miles is 56,000.

I placed my child in the car seat in the rear seat of the vehicle. It was a warm day so once she was safely fastened, i started the car to run the air conditioner. It has a keyless start and the keys were in my pocket. Once the car was started, i got out to go back to the back seat with my daughter while we waited on my wife, who was still in the restaurant paying the bill. When i got out of the car, the keys were still in my pocket. I closed the driver door. It started beeping because the keys were not present (they were in my pocket, not the interior of the vehicle). This caused the doors to lock. I tried to open all of the doors, they were all locked. The key fob would not unlock the doors. I pressed the button on the key fob to release the manual key. I insterted it into the key hole and turned. It would not respond. None of the buttons would respond. Manual key appears to also be electronic. My 16 month old child was locked in the running car alone. My wife came out and was trying to appease her through the window. We called emergency services and the fire department was dispatched. After about 15 minutes, my unsupervised daughter pulled her barrette from her hair and placed it in her mouth. I pulled a green stake from the ground that was previously supporting an adolescent tree. I threw it like a javelin 10 times at the car window in an attempt to break it. It wouldn't break. Luckily, a man pulled up with a small window breaking hammer designed to break windows from the inside of a car submerged in water. I used this to eventually break the window and dislodge the item from my daughter's throat. The car locked me out although a retained the keys. Luckily the vehicle was running. Any parent who parks the car and gets out to remove their car from the rear seat could experience the same fate. I can replicate this issue on command. It wasn't a fluke.

On march 6, 2018 i was involved in a crash. I rear ended another vehicle in slow moving bumper to bumper traffic. When i hit the brake the car began to slide straight forward. No pulsation from the anti-lock brakes. I was and am very surprised that my car did not stop in time. In the interim i settled my claim with my insurance company. On 3/29/2018. On 3/30/2018 i received a letter from mitsubishi telling me of an issue they call a "parking break" problem. I have asked several mechanics about the possible need to replace "the piston assembly of the rear brake caliper will be replaced with a countermeasure unit". I have bee assured this could have caused a failure to the anti-lock braking system. Because i no longer own the car i have notified allstate insurance of the present recall. If possible this should be an urgent recall. Sadly i have lost thousands of dollars and a record of 36 years of accident free driving. Please investigate

I was recently in a wreck and my cars air bags did not deploy and my seat belts did not lock in. I was sitting stationary as the traffic in front of me had stopped to allow someone to turn. All of a sudden a car smashed into my rear end. All passengers in the car and myself were thrown forward. The seat belts did not lock us in safely. I hit my steering wheel and left panel near windshield. The passenger hit the sun visor above his head. The back driver passenger was jolted upward hitting the ceiling and drivers seat. The back passenger on the other side was jolted up hitting the ceiling and passenger seat. The impact was hard enough to move my car 33 feet forward and into another car. On impact my air bags did not deploy which caused us to all go airborne in the car hitting ceiling, seats, and equipment. The rear passenger eyeglasses landed in the 3rd row seating so the impact was hard enough that some safety devices should have worked properly and sufficiently.

On friday, november 18, 2016, i was driving my wife's 2014 mitsubishi outlander sport. As i was pulling into a parking spot at the harris teeter grocery store located at 2019 s glenburnie road, new bern, nc. I was pulling into a parking spot on the left. Therefore, i had my foot on the brake to slowly pull into the spot. As i continued to move in a forward motion with my foot on the brake to come to a stop, the car suddenly lurched forward. I had not pulled completely into the spot at the time, so my foot would have still been on the brake. When our car lurched it then hit the car in front of us. The left side of our car impacted the left side of the car parked in the spot in front of the spot we were pulling into causing that car to roll out of its parking spot into the middle of the aisle in the parking lot. The car that was hit had quite a bit of damage to the front left fender of the car and the car had to be towed as it could not be driven. Our car's left fender also suffered damage and the radiator was busted. Our car also had to be towed from the lot. We are having the vehicle checked to see what made it lurch. And honestly, i will be afraid to drive the vehicle when it is fixed if they for some reason say they don't find a problem with it. I am uploading pictures of the damage done to both cars. I also received a citation for the accident and now have to go to court to clear this up. I will also be filing this complaint directly with mitsubishi motors. This was the first occurrence, but i wanted to report this before a situation like this happens again, possibly causing more injury or death.

Upon starting the vehicle and taking off with the shifter engaged in automatic, the car quickly engages the first gear but as i depress the accelerator pedal to accelerate, it feels and sounds like the engine is about to stall out and the vehicle slows back down as if hesitating and malfunctioning, then it very slowly over about a 20-30 second lull will begin to pick up speed at an incredibly slow and dangerous speed. I have tried making right turns and left yield turns only to find that i cannot move fast enough out of another vehicles path in a safe time and that it is too difficult to try and presume how long it will take to cross a street as the acceleration of the vehicle is unpredictable every time. I have to constantly drive with the shifter in manual to override this problem. This has almost caused me several accidents before i was able to decipher the safer manual position it acceleration of the vehicle.

Transmission roars, car doesn't go, and i can't go forward but at a slow crawl unless i pull over, let off gas completely so car can settle, then try again. It won't shift in awd or 4wd and i old lady, i don't troomp n rocket. I just want to get up to 55mph within 1 mile without sending my engine into dragonflies and half a tank of gas gone! The approximate mileage at the time of failure was 7,000. The vin was not available.

I went to roll my drivers window up and the glass fell into the door, i took it to the local mitsubishi dealership and the "fixed" it but the windows both roll up of the and seem to be off the allignment. They sound like they will break because the motor continues to roll up with the window all the way up already. Huge huge issue! *tr

While driving the fcm, (front crash mitigation), and acc, (adapter cruise control), lights came on with message "service required". I took the car to the dealer they could find nothing wrong. A month later they came on again, the dealer could find nothing wrong. The next time the lights came on it was "airbag service required". I took the car to the dealer, they diagnosed the ecu going bad. Now, when a light comes on, which is often, i don't have any idea if something is really not working. They told me it would be a week to get the part, today they told me the part is on back order. I am not happy about having this problem with a six month old car. I also find it odd that a part for a brand new car is on backorder. *tr

I bought a new mitsubishi outlander sport the day march 29, 2014 i have a claim number [xxx], after this complain i have send many emails asking them, please let me know if you already got the way to correct the defect in the air conditioning of this suv, because every day is stronger and i have too stressed with so much noise that looks like an old car. No one told me when buying the new 2014 suv mitsubishi outlander sport that had a hidden defect in the air conditioning compressor that turns on and off frequently and makes a torturous and unbearable noise that stresses the driver and passengers. They call me twice and toll me that noise is normal? If is normal they must said the customer before to buy. The first time i drove this vehicle in the snow i realized that the wipers are placed below the heated part of the windshield. This causes the wipers to freeze up and not clear the windshield properly reducing visibility. I think that an angled wiper arm that places the wiper over the defog would correct the problem.I've driven in snowy weather twice since and it has happened each time. *tr

Same as two (2) other entries herein..... The roof sustained dents from the blower of a non-contact car wash. When i first saw the dents, i wondered what caused them. Like [xxx] says....:"now you know the rest of the story". And now so do i. Mystery solved. Yes the roof is very thin, and " tinny" sounding in this area. The steel in this area needs to be to reinforced with a light weight material. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.S.C. 552(b)(6). *tr

The center seat belt is very unsafe. Once the latch is release, it goes back to the top corner, but it hit my son in the eye and forehead. Once you remove the seat belt( center passenger), the belt rolls up very quickly(upper back corner), so the passenger on the third row has to be careful. I have three boys and they are not very careful and they also assume that the seat belt would not roll up so quickly. It very unsafe and bad designed. *tr
