  • Recall 155181 [USA]: Corrosion to the secondary latch may cause it to bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed. if the primary latch is inadvertently released again and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2018 nissan altima vehicles. If the primary hood latch is inadvertently released, there is an increased likelihood that the secondary hood latch may corrode over time.
    nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a stronger release spring in the hood release lever, a warning label near the secondary hood latch, and an owner?S manual addendum card with instructions on how to lubricate and maintain the secondary hood latch mechanism, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed june 30, 2021. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: recall 16v-029 remains open for any unremedied 2013-2015 altimas and this recall applies to all vehicles covered by 16v-029 even if those repairs have already been performed.

  • Recall 122838 [USA]: If the front passenger seat occupant is misclassified, the air bag may deploy incorrectly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 altima vehicles manufactured january 3, 2013, to july 29, 2013, 2015-2016 rogue vehicles manufactured october 14, 2014, to august 12, 2016, and 2016 maxima vehicles manufactured june 4, 2015, to august 19, 2015. An incorrect occupant classification system (ocs) electronic control unit (ecu) may have been installed in the front passenger seat. The incorrect ecu and seat combination may misclassify the front passenger seat occupant.
    nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ecu and update the ocs software free of charge. The recall began february 13, 2017. Owners may contact nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

  • Recall 119632 [USA]: If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 nissan maxima, 2013-2016 nissan altima, nv200, leaf, sentra, and pathfinder, 2014-2016 nissan nv200 taxi, infiniti qx60, qx60 hybrid, and q50 hybrid, 2014-2017 nissan rogue and infiniti q50, 2015-2016 nissan murano, murano hybrid, and chevrolet city express, 2014-2015 nissan pathfinder hybrid, and 2013 infiniti jx35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger occupant classification system (ocs) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
    nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet city express owners will be notified by general motors. Dealers will reprogram the air bag control unit (acu) and ocs electronic control unit (ecu) in altima, maxima, murano, rogue, and sentra vehicles, and replace the ocs ecu in leaf, nv200, nv200 taxi, pathfinder, infiniti q50, jx35, and qx60 and chevrolet city express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on may 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available.   • Recall 119311 [USA]: If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 nissan altima vehicles manufactured march 6, 2012, to december 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
    these vehicles were previously included in recalls 14v-565 and 15v-116, however the previous remedy plan may not have been performed consistently to remove the safety risk. To correct this issue, nissan will re-notify all affected owners and dealers will replace the hood latch with a new one, free of charge. The recall began on february 17, 2016.   • Recall 118751 [USA]: If the ocs does not detect an adult occupant in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag would be deactivated. failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the passenger.

(nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 altima and pathfinder vehicles, 2013-2014 nissan sentra vehicles, 2013 infiniti jx35 vehicles, 2014-2015 infiniti qx60 vehicles and 2014 infiniti qx60 hybrid vehicles. The affected vehicles received an incorrect occupant classification system (ocs) control unit during a repair. These ocs control units may incorrectly classify the front passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult.

  • Recall 115239 [USA]: If fuel leaks from between the fuel sending unit and the tank, it may increase the risk of a fire in the event of a crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) notified the agency on july 31, 2015, that they are recalling certain model year 2016 nissan maxima vehicles manufactured february 10, 2015, to august 18, 2015. On october 14, 2015, nissan expanded the recall to cover an additional 41,388 vehicles, including certain model year 2013-2015 altima 3.5 vehicles equipped with a v6 engine manufactured march 30, 2012, to august 18, 2015 as well as the vehicles covered by the july 31, 2015 notification. In the affected vehicles, due to an improperly installed o-ring that may not have been seated correctly at the time of assembly, fuel may leak during a crash from the area where the fuel sending unit attaches to the fuel tank.

  • Recall 114987 [USA]: If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
    Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 nissan altima vehicles manufactured march 1, 2013, to december 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the secondary hood latch may bind and remain in the unlatched position when the hood is closed.
    nissan will notify owners, and dealers will be instructed to modify the bend angle of the hood actuation lever to eliminate potential interference with the hood inner panel. In addition, dealers will clean and lubricate the latch joint as needed. If significant corrosion is observed, the latch assembly will be replaced. This repairs will be performed free of charge.   • Recall 2020242 [Canada]: Structure
    Issue: over time, corrosion could cause the secondary hood latch to stick in the open position after it is used. If this happens, and the primary hood latch is released, the hood may open suddenly while driving. Safety risk: a hood that opens suddenly while driving could block the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: nissan will notify owners by mail and provide an update to the owner's manual instruction for how to properly maintain the hood latch. Nissan will instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the hood release lever spring. The dealer will also install a hood latch maintenance warning label.

  • Recall 2016630 [Canada]: Airbag
    Certain vehicles may have been fitted with an incorrect occupant classification system (ocs) module. An incorrect ocs module would impair the effectiveness of the ocs, potentially failing to properly classify an adult passenger seated in the front passenger seat. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupant in a crash. Correction: dealers will replace and update the ocs module.

  • Recall 2016179 [Canada]: Seats and restraints
    On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: for affected altima, maxima, murano, rogue and sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected leaf, nv200, pathfinder, q50 and jx35/qx60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.

  • Recall 2016028 [Canada]: Other
    On certain vehicles, the secondary hood latch may stick in the open position. As a result, the hood would only be held by the primary latch and could open suddenly if the primary latch were to be inadvertently released or improperly latched. This would compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users and cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the hood latch. Note: this recall supersedes recalls 2014-401 and 2015-083.

  • Recall 2015491 [Canada]: Airbag
    Certain vehicles serviced as part of recall 2014-093 or which had the occupant classification system (ocs) module replaced during servicing may have been fitted with an incorrect replacement ocs module. An incorrect ocs module would impair the effectiveness of the ocs, potentially failing to properly classify an adult passenger seated in the front passenger seat. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupant in a crash. Correction: dealers will reprogram the ocs module.

  • Recall 2015471 [Canada]: Fuel supply
    On certain vehicles, the sealing ring between the fuel sending unit and the fuel tank may move out of position in a crash. This could increase the potential risk of a fuel leak in the event of a crash increasing the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will install a retainer ring between the fuel sending unit and fuel tank. Note: this recall supersedes recall 2015-341.

  • Recall 2015083 [Canada]: Structure
    On certain vehicles, if the vehicle is driven with only the secondary latch engaged, the secondary hood latch may fail to hold the hood closed. As a result, the hood could open suddenly and compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will affect repairs. Note: this is an expansion of recall 2014401.

  • Recall 2014093 [Canada]: Airbag
    On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat occupant classification system software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult. If this occurs, the passenger airbag would be deactivated without the illumination of the airbag warning lamp. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: dealers will reprogram the occupant classification system.

Known Recall Investigations
  • Desiccated air bag inflator rupture investigation as of 20210917

    From 2000 through 2017, takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("psan") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004l. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited. The rapid burning can cause the inflator to rupture during deployment, potentially causing serious or even fatal injury to vehicle occupants. See 2016 blomquist report at www.Nhtsa.Gov/sites/nhtsa.Gov/files/documents/expert_report-hrblomquist.Pdf.Consequently, all frontal inflators using propellant 2004 that do not contain a "desiccant" (a substance that traps and holds moisture) in us vehicles are under recall. These "non-desiccated" inflators either have been or are required to be replaced.In some cases, the remedy part for these recalled inflators was, or will be, an inflator using either propellant 2004 or 2004l that does contain a desiccant. None of these "desiccated" remedy parts (which were installed in older model year vehicles) are currently under recall for a degradation concern. Certain subsets of desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004 for use as original equipment, however, have been recalled for a degradation concern. All takata inflators produced with propellant 2004l contain desiccant, and none of these desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l are under recall for a degradation concern. There have been no reported field ruptures in any non-recalled desiccated psan inflators.It is understood that desiccants fully saturate at some threshold, at which point any additional moisture will not be captured. This means the degradation process observed in non-desiccated inflators using propellant 2004 may also occur in non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004, assuming additional moisture enters the inflator and high temperature cycling occurs. Based on available information, desiccant saturation can occur within the first five years in the worst environments, and the time required for full saturation is affected by multiple factors. While no present safety risk has been identified, further work is needed to evaluate the future risk of non-recalled desiccated inflators using propellant 2004.Three entities -- takata (now known as tk global), the independent testing coalition, and exponent -- have been studying the long-term behavior of takata desiccated psan inflators using propellant 2004l (as well as 2004) in the presence of moisture and temperature cycling. The research efforts, which include development of predictive modeling techniques and field sample analysis, are ongoing. To date, none of the researchers have identified field evidence showing that propellant 2004l is undergoing a degradation process that leads to aggressive deployment and potential rupture. However, the time in service of such inflators remains short compared to that of the inflators using propellant 2004. Further study is needed to assess the long-term safety of desiccated inflators using propellant 2004l.The office of defects investigation is opening this investigation to examine whether a safety defect related to propellant degradation exists in non-recalled desiccated psan frontal inflators manufactured by takata. This investigation will require extensive information on takata production processes and surveys of inflators in the field.   • Rear suspension control arm failure investigation as of 20190729

    In response to the office of defects investigations (odis) information request (ir) letter dated december 6, 2018, nissan provide an interim response on january 18, 2019, and a final response on february 1, 2019. The majority of the nissan and odi failure reports are from vehicles registered in so called "salt belt" states. No crashes, injuries or fatalities have been confirmed as of this date.Nissans ir response indicated the my 2013 through early 2018 nissan altima shared a common rear lower control arm design. Accordingly odi has expanded the scope of the investigation to include all potentially affected vehicles. Nissan reported implementing a design change in january 2018 to improve the durability of the lower control arm, and also provided an analysis indicating that the design change resulted in a significant (which nissan estimated between 5 to 9 times) improvement to its durability.Nissan acknowledges that a crack may develop in the lower control arm due to stress and loading from normal use of the vehicle, and that road salts commonly used for snow and ice treatment results in corrosion that exacerbates growth and progression of the crack. Once the crack develops, continued use of the vehicle causes the control arm to separate at one of four attachment points that connect it to the vehicle chassis. Nissan determined the current incident rate was 0.003%. Based on testing it conducted as well as observations from field failures, nissan maintains the separation, whether it occurs either statically or while in motion, is readily detectable, that the separated component does not contact the road surface or braking components, and that the vehicle remains controllable and can be safely brought to a stop. Nissan states that due to low incident rate, high detectability, and low risk of adverse vehicle dynamics, it does not believe the subject control arm failure poses an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.Nonetheless, nissan has indicated its intentions to conduct a non-safety, proactive field action for my 2013 altima in specific states with high salt usage. Launch of the potential action would be in phases, likely beginning in late 2019 in salt belt states with higher incident rates, and would involve replacement of the lower control arms. Components recovered from the field action are expected to be used to study additional remedy options.During the engineering analysis, odi will continue to collect and analyze complaint and field data in its efforts to fully assess the scope and frequency of the alleged defect. Twice in 2 months my hood popped opened while driving on the interstate with my family in the car. The second time it popped open i was in the hov lane which consisted of only one lane so it was quite the scare especially because there was no where safe that i could pull over. I took it to the car dealer shortly after the incident occurred and they maintenance the secondary hood latch but never did anything to the primary hood latch which should have never had opened especially while i was driving. I put in a claim with nissan regarding the primary hood latch disengaging on its own two times in 2 months. I specifically told them numerous times that i do not feel safe driving my car anymore in that i would like to be financially compensated because now i have to go out and purchase another vehicle. I explained to them that i did not plan on buying a new car especially because my nissan only had 77,000 miles on it and was paid in full. I had also told them that i'm on a fixed income and having to purchase a new vehicle along with taking on car payments would cost me and my family a tremendous financial hardship. When the car is at a complete stop and the light turns green and it’s time to go it has a small delay for about 4-6 seconds where the car won’t move. It picks up after those 4-6 seconds. Once you turn off the car it resets itself but later on through the day it happens again . It happens to me about 2 times a day. The low beam lights offer no light, which is extremely dangerous when driving at night and also in hazardous weather conditions. I can't see the road at all and am forced to use my high-beams. I have replaced the bulbs at least twice now and still no improvement. While turning onto the entrance ramp to the highway, the lower rear control arm on the passenger side cracked and separated from the rest of the vehicle. The only thing holding the wheel on to the vehicle was a suspension coil. Steering and control of the vehicle became intermittent and i had no idea what was happening. I was driving with my pregnant daughter in the passenger seat. The "slippery road" warning light appeared on the dashboard but no other warnings or alerts. We were not injured. The vehicle was towed to our automotive repair shop. The auto repair noted that they had fixed this issue on nissan altima in the past and the repair was covered by nissan. The nissanassist website states there is "a service campaign in states with high road salt usage to replace the rear suspension lower link. On some affected vehicles, and under severe corrosion conditions, one of the rear lower suspension links may corrode and separate at the bushing joint area". I live in buffalo, ny area which is a high-salt state. Nissan will not cover this repair ($1146.57 includes nys taxes) because the campaign does not include my vin and was for 2013 models; my vehicle is 2014. The auto repair shop told us that the lower control arm in my 2014 vehicle was a 2013 part, so it was subject to the same defect that prompted the 2013 recall. Nissan refuses any assistance with this repair and says the vin number is not included on the lower suspension link repair. If this type of corrosion in a high salt state resulting in breakage is a known covered issue with the 2013 model, and my 2014 model nissan was assembled with the 2013 control arm parts, then my vehicle should not be excluded.

After speaking with the service manager he advised me that only 2013 nissan altimas that are in areas of the country that have salt on the road and 2014 nissan altimas in canada are being fixed by nissan. I have a 2014 nissan altima and live in ohio. Nissan should be expanding their campaign to 2014 vehicles that are having the same issue as the 2013's. Luckily, i was not driving my vehicle and my mechanic found the crack during an inspection. If he didn't find it, i along with my family or friends could have possibly been injured if the control arm completely cracked in half and caused me to crash. In the evening of february 2nd 2021. My daughter was driving home on county road 12 (at a speed of around 50mph) near long lake, mn. She hear a loud sound and the car became more difficult to drive. Thankfully there was an exit that she could take and she stopped the car as soon as this was safe to do. They diagnosed that one of the rear control arms had corroded and collapsed, while the other side control arm was corroded and near collapse. Both were replaced at a cost of over $1,700. In the evening of february 2nd 2021. My daughter was driving home on county road 12 (at a speed of around 50mph) near long lake, mn. She hear a loud sound and the car became more difficult to drive. Thankfully there was an exit that she could take and she stopped the car as soon as this was safe to do. The next day we had the car picked up by aaa and taken to the nissan dealer (walser in wayzata, mn). They diagnosed that one of the rear control arms had corroded and collapsed, while the other side control arm was corroded and near collapse. Both were replaced at a cost of over $1,700. My records say its a 2015, yours indicate it's a 2014. The transmission is faulty, according to my research. Thankfully, as a police officer, i had the necessary skills to get off the roadway, despite almost being in a serious collision. This is an egregious safety issue, and nissan's lack of concern is abhorrent. I cannot afford the $4400 price tag to replace this transmission, which was poorly manufactured. The dealership "fixed" the "computer update" to the transmission, as well as "lubing" and not replacing the the faulty hood latch. Notably, they allegedly drove the car throughout the day on friday, january 29, before declaring that the transmission needed to be replaced. I have been hearing a clunking sound from rear of car for few years multiple trips to dealers and had them look into noise. The only thing they came up with is the shocks were bad, i replaced them and car still had the clunking sound. I was returning home from trip to store and when entering my driveway off public side road @ about 2mph the drivers side rear control arm broke clean off from the mount bolted to the frame and the tire crashed into the inner fender and twisted to ~45 degree angle. I know that the 2013 has a recall in usa and canada and canada also has recall for 2014 for the same problem. If this had broke while i was on expressway 5 minutes earlier this could have caused serious injury to myself and passengers not to mention any body else that could have in my path. When dealer replaced driver side he said that the passenger side needed to be replaced also as it was showing stress cracks. Since that experience, we try to steer clear of taking trips in the evening... But even now on regular routine drives on freeways or even pulling up to my court the dim beams are more obvious than ever. I went to get my oil change service done today, and mentioned my issue with the headlights and inquired about replacements. They suggested running a diagnostic to identify the source but it would cost $375 or something just to do that... I mentioned that they recently did a diagnostic (that i paid for when they were trying to figure out another concern i had with the brake light going and no issues were found, just needed to top off the brake fluid) so i passed on it... I then inquired about replacements and was told they would be about $400 to replace both sides. From that point i googled cost to compare and came across articles, forums that brought to light that i wasn't alone with my concern and issue with the headlights. And some comments mentioned replacements such as hid or led didn't do much to help the dim beam. I am not sure now if i want to spend the money to replace or keep googling on ways to help fix the problem in a more cost effective way. Hopefully there is a recall because the dim low beam is a hazard that fixing will save lives and make it less stressful at night to drive... Especially when carrying special cargo.

I've been in contact with nissan regarding this, but they stated that the nhtsa is the agency responsible for issuing recalls before they would address any vehicle issues outside of warranty. I was told that my vehicle has about $1,500 worth of repairs needed because of some rust/corrosion issues with the rear lower links. After doing a little research, i discovered that there is a recall for this issue, but it only applies to 2013 altimas in the us, but both 2013 and 2014 altimas in canada. So i wanted to reach out to you and see if you could add a little insight into this and how it makes any sense that there is a known safety issue with the 2014 altimas and so they offer a program like this, but then leave out the 2014 model in the us, but include it in canada? It's the same model vehicle regardless of if it's in canada or the us and i feel quite confident that canada's road salt usage is not significantly higher than minnesota's. As is evidenced by the fact that my vehicle has this issue and that the 2013 models were included with this campaign for select us states. So if you could add the 2014 altimas in the us to this campaign/recall, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a video showing the issues from walser nissan if would be helpful. Please advise. I took the vehicle to my dealer for a quote and was told it will cost up to $1,800.00 to fix. I know there has been at least one recall pertaining to this system already (recall number 15v681000). I also asked if there was a way to have the airbag always set to deploy but was told that was not possible. An $1,800.00 fix for a critical safety feature is a hazard that will drive people to accept undue risk. A recall for affected nissan vehicles to replace the system or which would default the airbags to deploy would mitigate the risk to the population.

If i had been driving on the freeway, i most likely would have been seriously injured or possibly killed. The repair cost me $730 due to having to drop the rear suspension in order to replace this part which made the job labor intensive. I feel that this type of issue should also be covered in the u.S.

I was driving at about 35mph, hit a small pothole & the rear control arm on the passenger side snapped. Not knowing about the service campaign (that came out in 10/2019- i purchased the car in 02/2020) i took it upon myself to get the part fixed. Almost $500 out of my pocket. Fast forward 10 months, driving 70 on the highway, didn't hit a pot hole or anything... The drivers side snapped. This is clearly a safety issue as i lost control of my car for a solid 15 seconds. How are only the 2014 altimas in canada eligible for free repairs but a car in ny state is not? I have a case open and will be expecting a call on 02/08. Really hoping nissan steps up to assist with repairs as this will amount to almost $1,000 in not even a year..

My low beam lights are barely lighting up the road even after changing the bulbs. It's coming from the silver housing part that holds the bulbs and nissan needs to replace this. I almost hit a person walking last night. I was driving down a dark road going slow. I have to use my fog lights just to help me out some and it's still not enough lighting. My brights work great it's just the low beam.

The failure occurred after coming to a stop. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics however, the mechanics were unable to duplicate the failure. The contact also took the vehicle to jeff wyler nissan of cincinnati (8680 colerain ave, cincinnati, oh 45251) where the mechanic duplicated the failure and informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

I had an airbag light come on recently. My nissan dealer said there was something wrong with the side airbag which is built into the driver's seat and would require the back portion of the driver's seat to be replaced. This is a 2014 altima with less than 30k miles on it already having an airbag fault out of nowhere with no accident. It concerns me that i am having to foot a $1600 bill to fix a piece of safety equipment that the manufacture seems to have poorly made.

My nissan recently reached 90,000 miles and began to shut down in the middle of traffic. The engine began to jerk and it would not move it were placed in drive or reverse. Then at times when placed in drive the engine would shake and roar loudly, and shut off. My dad had to come and tow the car in twice due to it not shutting down on the interstate and in traffic. The nissan would just stop accelerating and lose power. If it cranked back up at stop lights or stop signs it would accelerate so slowly that i would get caught under red lights or in the middle of on-coming traffic. It would slowly pick up speed with the accelerated pressed all the way to the floor, but there would be a burning smell that the car will give off and it sounds like the engine is in the wrong gear, while in drive. *tr

Hawkinson nissan located at (5513 miller circle drive, matteson, il 60443, (708) 252-3769) was contacted. The contact was informed that the vehicle should be taken in to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.

She told me i had to take it to nissan and pay for the diagnosis and repairs to get it back to oe. If you look at the nissan forum this is a severe occurring issue. So yonker nissan and nissan of north america it seems safety is not an issue to me or my family so neither is my business that goes for both of you.. And i do hope you train your nissan of north america staff on the magnusson act cause aftermarket gives a 10 year warranty on the lens assemblies to your 1 year.So i don't have to take it to nissan.

Apparently this is an issue with nissan altimas. Currently dealer is refusing to repair under agreement with nhtsa because that only impacts 2013 models. This was the same issue as the agreement.

Headlights are very dim. Unable to see at night while driving with low-beams on. I paid $250 to replace the headlamps with no luck. After doing some research, it appears this is a well known issue. This seems like a safety issue so i am wondering why there is no recall?
