  Nissan north america, inc. (nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 rogue and 2017-2022 rogue sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.
  dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed march 29, 2023.   On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. My car had gear slipped down to neutral and lost power while driving on a highway and as i was pushed the gas pedal after about 10secs jumped back to gear and accelerated unexpectedly.

The nissan rogue would not accelerate past 40mph on the highway. It was also making a whining sound. The failure of the car to accelerate made it impossible to drive at the appropriate speed limit on the highway. We had to put on the emergency lights and we had our children in the back seat. We took the car in to our own mechanic, as well as to our local nissan service center, and they both confirmed that it is an internal transmission problem. We are attaching the diagnostic reports to this message. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Vehicle has intermittent transmission problems. Rps's increase, speedometer increase however vehicle does not increase speed, then all of a sudden vehicle will increase at high rate of speed. This is dangerous and could severely injure someone. I have brought vehicle to dealership 3 times and each time dealership service department states the vehicle is not showing any error codes. Dealership will not investigate any further unless i pay out of pocket to maybe find an warranty covered issue.

Hood was inadvertently released by driver due to hood latch release's location next to the fuel door release. Driver then pulled out of gas station onto street. While traveling under 15 miles per hour and within a block, the hood flew upward, obscuring the driver's view, causing damage to the hood, fenders, and cowl filler pieces. Damage has been inspected by the insurance appraiser/body shop manager, who confirmed the hood release safety latch was "frozen" and only became operative after manually manipulating it several times. The same individual mentioned this was the second rogue in less than a year where he had noted hood damage, again without affecting the windshield or the roof. Cause of damage in that case was only learned after the appraiser had questioned the driver and the driver mentioned that the hood had flown up in a prior unrelated incident.

Transmission failure at 100,000 miles

My brakes locked up on me and now my brake pad flew off

My fuel gauge does not regard fuel consumption nor measure fuel at all. I do not have any idea if i am on empty or half fuel. Fuel indicators just quit functioning and will cost me over $1,100 to fix. The car is 6 years old and only has 50,639 miles.

I was driving down the tollway at night and alone when my car stopped accelerating but my rpm's went up to 5,000. I managed to pull over and shut it off . Tried again, it would not go. Tried 3 x and it finally went. I shut off the air and drive slowly so i could safely complete my trip. When i went to the nissan dealer. They told me it was the transmission. That is is a know condition on this model. The service writer actually told me these keep them in business. Apparently the transmission cooler is too small and they overheat. They told want almost $6,000 to repair the vehicle that is probably not even worth that anymore. How can they not have a recall on a know defect? If you google it there are numerous service bulletins yet no recall for repair. I am so disappointed. In this difficult time of our lives i am without a car and left with a huge repair. Tl* the contact owns a 2015 nissan rogue. The contact stated that after exiting a highway ramp at 60 mph, the vehicle jerked and stalled without warning while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle resumed normal function soon after experiencing the failure. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall and that the warranty on the vehicle was expired. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 107,754.
