• Recall 103569 [USA]: If the ignition switch moves from the run position to accessory, the car would stall and the air bags will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of personal injury to the occupants.
  Uci-fram group is recalling certain ls1328 ignition switches sold as wells ls1328, duralast ls1328, airtex 1s6097, and carquest 53-27479, and ls1497 ignition switches sold as wells ls1497, duralast ls1497, airtex 1s10961, and carquest 53-27967, for use on various general motors model and model year vehicles during repair and replacement of the original ignition switch. The weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the affected ignition switches to move out of the run position, turning off the engine and disabling the air bags.

• Recall 103159 [USA]: If the key can be removed from the ignition when the ignition is not in the "off" position, the vehicle could roll away: (a) for an automatic transmission, if the transmission is not in the "park" position; or (b) for a manual transmission, if the parking brake is not engaged and the transmission is not in the "reverse" position. this potential for rollaway increases the risk for a crash and occupant or pedestrian injuries.

• Recall 102324 [USA]: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
  This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General motors llc (gm) notified the agency on february 10, 2014 that they are recalling 619,122 model year 2005-2007 chevrolet cobalt, and 2007 pontiac g5 vehicles. On february 25, 2014, gm increased the recall to include an additional 748,024 model year 2006-2007 chevrolet hhr and pontiac solstice vehicles and 2003-2007 saturn ion vehicles and 2007 saturn sky vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine. On march 27, 2014, gm notified the agency that the defective ignition switches may have been used as service replacement parts on other vehicles, and as a result gm will be recalling certain model year 2008-2010 chevrolet cobalt, saturn sky, and pontiac g5 and solstice, and 2008-2011 chevrolet hhr vehicles. The part numbers for the service parts are 10392423 (a/k/a acdelco d1461f), 10392737, 15857948, 15854953, 15896640, and 25846762. This expansion represents an additional 823,788 vehicles.

An interim notification was issued to owners of 2007 and earlier models on march 10, 2014, informing them of the safety defect. Owners of 2008 and later vehicles will be mailed an interim letter on april 21, 2014. All affected owners will receive another letter once parts are available. The recall began on april 18, 2014. • Recall 2017044 [Canada]: Airbag
  On certain vehicles, over time, the flexible sensor mat of passenger airbag suppression system (pps) within the passenger seat can bend and become damaged. If this were to occur, the damage can potentially cause the pps module to suppress the front passenger airbag during a crash. If fault exists in the pps system and the vehicle is involved in a crash where airbag deployment is warranted, the front passenger airbag may not deploy, which if an adult is occupying the passenger seat, could increase the risk of injury to the occupant. Correction: dealers will inspect the pps sensor mat for damage and add a reinforcement strip to the sensor mat if no damage is found. If damage is found, the pps sensor mat will be replaced and reinforcement strips added. Note: if an active fault exists in the pps system, the airbag malfunction-indicator lamp will illuminate and the passenger airbag telltale will indicate that the airbag is off. Additionally, the driver information center will display a “service airbag” message, and the audio system will play an audible warning chime.

  On certain vehicles, a defect may allow the ignition key to be removed from the ignition switch when the key is not in the "off" position. This could result in unintended vehicle movement if the transmission is not in the "park" position (automatic transmission) or not in the reverse gear with the parking brake engaged (manual transmission), and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will replace the ignition lock cylinder and/or ignition key.

  On certain vehicles, a defect in the ignition switch could allow the switch to move out of the "run" position if the key ring is carrying added weight and the vehicle goes off-road or is subjected to some other jarring event. The timing of the key movement out of the “run” position, relative to the activation of the sensing algorithm of the crash event, may result in the airbags not deploying, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will replace the ignition switch. Note: until the correction is performed, all items should be removed from the key ring. Note: this is an expansion of recall 2014-038.

• Recall 2007417 [Canada]: Powertrain
  On certain vehicles, the drive axle differential seal may leak (note that all-wheel drive vehicles have two seals). Reduced lubrication may cause the differential to become noisier. Continued use may cause damage to bearings and other differential components. Three conditions could occur: 1). When the vehicle is stopped and shifted to reverse, the differential may jam and prevent vehicle movement. 2). The damage can cause drag that will feel like the parking brake is applied; or 3) the differential could jam and lock the drive wheels while the vehicle is underway. Should the latter occur, it could result in a loss of vehicle control and a crash, causing injury or death. Correction: dealers will replace the drive axle differential seal(s).

• Hvac blower motor connector investigation # DP20002

  The office of defects investigation (odi) received a petition on december 12, 2019 requesting an investigation of the hvac blower motor connector in model year (my) 2007-2010 saturn sky and 2006-2010 pontiac solstice vehicles. The petition itself can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11299852. The petitioner alleges that my 2007-2010 saturn sky and 2006-2010 pontiac solstice vehicles experience hvac blower motor connector overheating with the potential for vehicle occupant compartment fires similar to those in my 2006-2010 hummer h3 vehicles which are subject to safety recall 15v-421 and that they should have been included within the scope of that safety recall.Odi will evaluate the petitioners allegations to determine if the petition should be granted or denied. If the petition is granted, odi will open a defect investigation; if the petition is denied, odi will publish a notice in the federal register. • Passenger sensing system sensor mat investigation # DP16001

  The office of defects investigation (odi) received a petition requesting the opening of an investigation into the air bag system on model year 2006-2010 pontiac solstice and 2007-2010 saturn sky, the subject vehicles.The petitioner raised the issue of failure of the passenger sensing system for the front passenger seating position.On january 26, 2017, general motors filed a defect information report recalling the subject vehicles to address the issue raised by the petition.In view of the recall, odi considers the petition moot and is closing the action.The closing of the petition does not constitute a finding by nhtsa that a safety-related defect does not exist, and the agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.

• Failure of the rear differential investigation # PE07037

  Odi evaluated two different alleged defects involving rear drivetrain components during this preliminary evaluation.Gm is conducting a recall to address one of the defect conditions and odi has opened an engineering analysis to continue its investigation of the other alleged defect. On december 19, 2007, gm submitted a defect information report to nhtsa concerning defective rear axle pinion seals in approximately 275,936 model year (my) 2005-07 cadillac cts, sts and srx vehicles as well as my 2006-07 pontiac solstice and my 2007 saturn sky vehicles (recall 07v-589).On sts and srx vehicles with all wheel drive, the front axle pinion seal also does not meet all of gms specifications and may experience a fluid leak.Gm indicated that the seal supplier made an unauthorized change to the pinion seal material.Leaking pinion seals could result in loss of rear differential lubrication which could result in rear wheel lock-up and loss of vehicle control. On december 7, 2007, odi opened an engineering analysis (ea07-017) to investigate complaints of rear drivetrain component failure (e.G., fractured rear differential carrier housing or rear axle half shafts) while driving in approximately 7,600 my 2004 through 2006 cadillac cts-v vehicles.This condition may result in a loss of motive power and vehicle disablement and is not addressed by recall 07v-589.Odi identified 35 complaints (16 to odi and 19 to gm) and 128 warranty claims potentially related to this condition (see ea07-017 opening resume).These complaints are not included in the failure report summary of this closing resume. The complaints and warranty figures given in this resume are limited to those that (a) are most likely caused by a leaking rear pinion seal; and (b) resulted in an allegation of a rear differential failure while driving.The data do not include all reports of seal leakage.

Hvac blower motor stopped working via the control knob. Through online forums & repair guides, i did some troubleshooting to determine which component i might need to order (i.E. Fuse, relay, blower motor assembly, blower resistor, etc). During that research, many others noted that the blower resistor is known to become defective, and that melting of the resistor & the harness connector are common. This is exactly the situation i found, and it is not at all unreasonable to conclude that this could have easily resulted in a fire. These same parts are shared by the pontiac solstice and the hummer h3 (for which, i believe, a recall was issued). The parts to fix this problem are not overly expensive & readily available -- and the replacement process is not difficult. What is difficult is to think this is a known problem which can (& has) caused vehicle fires, and yet no recall or official notice has been issued to warn vehicle owners.

The passenger seat airbag sensor has failed for a second time. This issue was the subject of a gm recall 17036 dated may 2017. Under this recall my seat sensor failure was corrected. This car is driven very little (about 2000 miles per year average) and 99 percent of the time with no passenger. Battle field chevrolet says the warranty for the recall has expired and gave a written quote r.O. 6030264/1 dated 4/12/21 of $792.88 to repair/correct the failure. I have paper copies of the recall notice and the reference quote. This is a vehicle safety issue. A passenger would be at risk riding in the seat until repaired. The vehicle cannot pass the annual state safety inspection until corrected. This is a design flaw on the part of general motors and should again be repaired at no expense to the vehicle owner.

During typical daytime driving, the instrument panel is not readable. I need to turn on my head lights manually during the day to see how fast i am going. Review the picture to see how dark the instruments are during driving. General motors needs to apply tsb #06-08-49-016 (nhtsa: 10020735) as a recall to resolve this problem.

My 2007 saturn sky automobile had a airbag/ safety recall (recall # 17036) which i had shearer chevrolet sout burlington, vermont preform. They only did part of the recall and within 4000 miles (10 months) of them doing the work the module kit which they were suppose to replace but didn't as part of the recall failed and i was forced to pay over $900 out of pocket to have the repair done again including replacing the module kit (gm part number #84447741). I lost the use of the car over 2 months this summer 2020 due to the fact that the car was uninspectable with this problem. Lamoille valley chevrolet hyde park, vermont (802-888-4942) performed the second repair on the vehicle.
