  • Recall 2018174 [Canada]: Electrical
On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0l tfsi engine, the electric coolant pump could experience a short circuit and/or overheat. A short circuit or overheating of the pump could increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will unplug the electric coolant pump and update the coolant pump software to mitigate the risk of fire as an interim measure. When parts become available, dealers will replace the electric coolant pump, and install an updated coolant pump software.

  • Recall 2017243 [Canada]: Fuel supply
On certain vehicles, the fuel pump flange may develop fine cracks or fissures, which could result in a fuel leak. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will apply a butyl protective film to the fuel pump flange. If cracks are present, the fuel pump flange will be replaced. Note: this is an expansion of recall 2016-443.

  • Recall 2017003 [Canada]: Airbag
On certain vehicles, if the water drainage system of the panoramic sunroof becomes damaged or impaired (such as during a repair), water could enter the side head curtain airbag canister. Due to a foam that is touching the airbag inflator, moisture could cause corrosion on the airbag inflator over time. If this happens, the airbag canister could be weakened. This could cause the airbag canister to fracture without airbag deployment and allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: dealers will inspect the vehicle for evidence of water ingress, examine the drainage system, disassemble the headliner and trim, remove foam and inspect the side head curtain airbag canister for relevant corrosion. In cases where light surface corrosion is found, a wax will be applied to the inflator. In cases of more than light surface corrosion, the inflator will be replaced after a robustness check.

  • Recall 2017002 [Canada]: Engine
On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0l tfsi engine, the coolant pump could become blocked by debris from the cooling system. This could lead to the pump overheating and could increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: dealers will update vehicle software which deactivates the power supply to the coolant pump if the pump becomes blocked with debris. The driver will be notified of the blocked coolant pump through the illumination of the electronic power control (epc) lamp.

Vehicle transmission downshifts abruptly when slowing to a stop. Transmission slams into each gear as you slow causing an unexpected increase in engine braking. This occurs regardless of drive select mode (comfort, auto, or sport). There are numerous complaints about this behavior across audi owner forums for vehicles with the same engine and transmission combination (3.0l supercharged v6 mated to zf 8hp transmission). Additionally, there's a frequent long delay for the reverse camera image to display on the screen when selecting reverse. It can take up to 7-10 seconds. If there is a software update available, audi dealer advises it will cost money to have installed on the vehicle. As this is a safety concern i would imagine the manufacturer would handle as a tsb, regardless of year or mileage.

The roof of my 2017 audi q5 is glass, and it makes a constant rattling noise while driving. I took it to the audi service center to be serviced, and the sunroof frame along with all of the bolts were replaced in december 2019. As of today, the rattle is strongly present again. This issue is ongoing, and it is a major safety concern for me. The glass roof could literally shatter and result in a fatal injury. I filed a complaint with the bbb auto line, but i was told that an investigation couldn't be conducted because a two year deadline that i missed even though the vehicle has less than 15k miles on it. I have also requested a replacement vehicle from audi, and my request was rejected. As of may 2020, the audi service center manager facilitated another replacement request on my behalf. *tr

On monday 3/9/2020 around 6:45pm edt, i was driving in a residential zone approx. 25-30 mph. I approached a stop sign and pressed the brake to stop the car. The car slowed slightly but did not stop, despite my intense pressure on the brake pedal. Instead, the engine revved spontaneously several times and i proceeded half-way through the (thankfully empty) intersection. I confirmed i was in regular drive gear (not the semi-manual mode), then quickly put the car in park to stop the vehicle, but the engine continued to rev. I turned the ignition off and back on, then continued driving without further incident. That night, i searched online and found another customer reported a nearly identical experience with a 2017 audi q5 on march 16 2017 (brakes failed problem). That customer's dealer found a fault with the abs brake module, which was repaired. I took my car to an audi dealer (zip code 48301) the following day but they were unable to find any "faults" and therefore make any repairs. The vehicle is 2017 with approx. 17k miles, still under oem warranty.

Front brakes appear to squeak loudly after initiation with moisture; more seriously there is considerable locking/sliding of the brakes when attempting to stop on snow and ice -- at a more dangerous distance than our other 2 vehicles in similar situations. Vehicle (2017 q5) has 22k miles with the abs system/tires appearing to be in good working order. My wife and i have used multiple stopping techniques (pumping brakes, applying soft pressure, and also hard pressure) with the same result: on 2 occasions the vehicle essentially locked up and slid 1/2 way through an intersection. Fortunately no pedestrians/vehicles were nearby. I read several blogs regarding this with other owners citing the same problems. There appears to be vw/audi observances regarding issues with 2018 vehicles with the lack of either a supplier-deficient caliper spray/loose bolt in the front braking area. We are kindly asking to review this situation to determine if others have reported the same problem. We will also be asking our dealer to fully inspect the vehicle. We are aware that snow/ice represent challenges -- but this vehicle has scared my wife/i multiple times by not stopping within a reasonable distance despite the adverse conditions.

Hit a stationary honda crv on black ice at approx 45-50 mph. Impact was straight on front of our car and rear of the crv. Our both vehicles were totaled, none of our air bags deployed. Our vehicle was then hit from the rear by a jeep wrangler at about the same speed. Still no deployment of air bags. We are concerned that the airbags may have been defective. Accident happened in a 31 car pile up on i-68 near exit 29. We are very lucky there were no known injuries other than stiffness and sore spots. Occupants were driver 52 yrs old and front passenger 17 yrs old.

Few days ago, i was driving the car( usually my wife is driving it) stopped to a stop light, actually i tried to stop, but, the car was still moving. At the same time, i noticed a very high engine revs, and the car was moving, even with me pressing hard the breaks. Luckily, we got green light, and nothing major happened. But, the worst part is that, i noticed, above the front wheels, some suspension components, parts, nuts, at only 5 mm or less. Is right above the front wheels. It is not on the side, as supposed to be. The clearance between that part and the wheels should be a lot more. To me, is not safe at all. There is a recall about it? It safe to drive? To me looks not.

Received a recall related to electric coolant pump in june. Parts not available. Called my dealer princeton audi and no help. Received second notice regarding this in september, that audi had an 'interim fix" and advised me to contact princeton audi again. I did, but they did't have the part for the 'interim fix' either. I have called them 3 times and now am on a waiting list with over 100 names. Audi apparently is not making these parts fast enough, and in the meantime, we are advised to keep the car out of the garage... Winter is coming in the northeast. They have no idea when they will get the part

I am concerned about the lack of viability of the due to the positioning of the drivers side mirror in the audi a5 suv. The mirror is very large and blocks the ability to see vehicles on the left when stopped at a stop sign, especially sml sports cars or vehicles on an angle if there is a slight hill. Small persons will be more affected by this than others. I have had many close calls because the car was behind the mirror. Also there is a blind spot when using the vehicle detection system on the freeway; if the approaching vehicle is half way parallel to you, ie changed lanes close to you, it will not be detected by the system, it only detects vehicles approaching a car length behind. I think this is a significant problem and should be investigated.

When coming to a stop or accelerating away from a stop the rear suspension making a clicking/clunking sound from both the right and left sides of the vehicle. The manufacturer has looked into the issue 3 times, the first two agreeing there was a problem but i the third visit they are now saying the issue is normal. The noise comes from the forward rear sub-frame bushing which were replaced on 11/13/2017 but has since returned. The concern is the vehicle is unsafe to drive.

We rear-ended a semi truck while driving on a highway as traffic began to slow . The entire front end of our vehicle was badly damaged. The airbags did not deploy and the pretensioners on the drivers seatbelt did not engage . The speed at which we were traveling is unknown but likely more than 15 miles per hour and less than 40 miles per hour. The driver looked away from the road briefly and rear-ended the truck ahead . We are extremely concerned that our airbags and seatbelt did not engage. The driver hit her head on the steering wheel and the passengers knees were jammed into the glove compartment.

On thursday march 16th approx around 6 pm, i was driving back home from work. When i tried to stop the car at a stop light (driving approx 40-45 miles/hr speed on a straight road) by pushing the break pedal the vehicle slowed down, but failed to stop completely and continued to roll autonomously at a slower speed. As i continued to push the brake, engine revved up twice spontaneously. I immediately shifted the gear to park and the vehicle stopped. Approx a minute later i shifted back to drive and drove the car home. Next morning i drove the car to audi dealership and they ran the vehicle diagnostic and identified a faulty abs control module which has since been replaced. Since it involved brake failure and spontaneous acceleration i am submitting the compliant to to nhtsa. I have also sent an email to audi usa today regarding this. I just took the car back from service today and i will continue to observe for any issues and update nhtsa and audi usa. Please feel free to contact me should you need any additional information.
